Lazlo — this man is WAY too optimistic. Like nothing bothers him. Everything is “it’ll be fine guys!” even when it clearly will not be fine.

Raj — loud, dramatic, overreacts to everything. Half the humor is just him yelling and I’m not even mad about it.

Clam — barely talks, barely reacts, somehow the most normal one… which makes him feel even weirder in this show.

Scoutmaster Lumpus — yeah… this dude is not okay.

He’s loud, insecure, constantly yelling, constantly trying to prove he’s in charge… and failing every single time. This man is one inconvenience away from a full breakdown at all times.

Slinkman — somehow even weirder than Lumpus. The voice, the way he moves, everything about him feels off. Like he doesn’t belong in reality.

This ain’t even a normal camp.

Camp Kidney feels like a place that only exists in cartoons.

Nothing about it feels real, and that actually helps the show.

The art style, the colors, the way everything looks slightly off—it all adds to that “this is not normal” feeling.

The characters are all exaggerated in a way that works.

Lazlo’s optimism, Raj yelling, Clam just existing, Lumpus losing his mind every episode—it all blends together perfectly.

And the show NEVER tries to be normal.

It commits to being weird the entire time.

Okay so…

For YEARS I watched this show just thinking
“yeah this is just random cartoon nonsense.”

And then a few years ago I saw someone talk about this and I was like—

…hold on WHAT??

Scoutmaster Lumpus…

…is apparently an escaped insane asylum patient.

I’m sorry??

Because the show never flat out screams that at you while you’re watching it as a kid. He’s just presented as this loud, unstable, incompetent guy running a camp.

But then you hear that…

And suddenly everything about him makes way too much sense.

The yelling.

The breakdowns.

The way he acts like he’s losing control constantly.

It goes from funny… to
“wait a minute…”

And that just makes the show even more bizarre in hindsight.

Like of course this show would have something like that.

Of course it would.
