Bunk’d (2015–2024)

Bunk’d (2015–2024) 🏖☀️

“Summer camp vibes, Jessie leftovers, and yeah… a whole lot of changing identities over the years.”

🎵 Let’s start by playing the theme song shall we?

You get all the summer camp needs and wants without having to go outside in real life.

It’s catchy.

Not legendary, not something I’m blasting on repeat, but it fits the show. It gives off that “we’re at camp, we’re in the woods, something dumb is about to happen” energy right away.

📖 Non-Spoiler Plot Overview

So Bunk’d is a continuation of Jessie.

You take Emma Ross (Peyton List), Ravi Ross (Karan Brar), and Zuri Ross (Skai Jackson), and send them to Camp Kikiwaka for the summer.

And the idea is simple:

Rich city kids… now stuck in the wilderness.

That alone is a solid setup.

But as the show goes on, it slowly becomes less about the Ross kids and more about Camp Kikiwaka itself and the rotating group of campers and counselors.

And yeah… that’s where things start to change.

🎭 Character Rundown

Emma Ross (Peyton List) — still dramatic, still stylish, still trying to act like she’s above everything even when she clearly isn’t.

Ravi Ross (Karan Brar) — still the smart one, still overthinking everything, now suffering in nature instead of a penthouse.

Zuri Ross (Skai Jackson) — sarcastic, chaotic, and honestly one of the most consistent characters across both shows.

These three are the heart of the early seasons.

Then you’ve got the camp crew:

Lou Hockhauser (Miranda May) — loud, energetic, full-on camp spirit. Sometimes funny, sometimes… a lot.

Xander (Kevin Quinn) — chill counselor with a guitar. Exactly what you expect.

Jorge (Nathan Arenas) — weird kid humor dialed to max.

Tiffany (Nina Lu) — overly positive to the point where it loops back around to being funny… sometimes.

Hazel (Tessa Netting) — takes camp way too seriously and acts like it’s law.

Then later you get:

Destiny (Mallory James Mahoney), Matteo (Raphael Alejandro), Finn (Will Buie Jr.), Ava (Shelby Simmons), Noah (Israel Johnson), Gwen (Scarlett Estevez) — all bringing different energy, but also making the show feel more like it’s constantly changing instead of staying consistent.

🌲 The Summer Camp Aesthetic

This is one of the best parts of the show.

The cabins, the lake, the woods, the campfires—it all gives the show a really nice summer vibe.

Even when the writing gets shaky, the setting carries a lot of the experience.

It’s one of those shows you can throw on and just vibe with.

📺 Seasons Breakdown

Season 1–2 (2015–2016)

This is where the show is at its strongest.

You’ve got the full Ross kids dynamic, the connection to Jessie is fresh, and the camp setting feels new.

The humor still leans a little cringy at times, but it works more often because the core cast is strong.

This feels like a proper continuation.

Season 3 (2018)

This is where things start shifting.

Emma leaves, and now the show has to rely more on Ravi, Zuri, and Lou.

You can feel the change immediately.

It’s not bad, but it definitely feels like the show is trying to figure out what it wants to be without one of its main anchors.

Season 4–5 (2019–2021)

Now we’re fully in “this is a camp show” mode.

The Ross connection is basically gone, and the focus is on the new campers like Destiny, Matteo, Finn, and others.

Some of these characters are fun, but the show feels way more inconsistent.

This is where the cringe becomes more noticeable because the writing leans harder into exaggerated Disney humor.

Season 6–7 (2022–2024)

At this point, this is barely the same show.

It’s still Camp Kikiwaka, still the same setting, but the identity is completely different from what it started as.

New characters, new dynamics, and it feels more like a long-running Disney Channel camp sitcom than a Jessie spin-off.

Some charm is still there, mostly because of the setting, but yeah… it’s a very different show now.

⏱️ Pacing / Episode Flow

Very fast, very Disney Channel.

Quick setup, quick jokes, quick resolution.

Sometimes that works.

Other times it feels like the show is rushing through jokes hoping something lands.

✅ Pros

The biggest positive is the connection to Jessie early on.

Seeing Emma, Ravi, and Zuri again gives the show a strong foundation.

The summer camp aesthetic is great. It gives the show personality and makes it easy to watch.

Some of the new characters do bring energy, especially in later seasons when the show fully commits to being its own thing.

And overall, it’s just an easy, light watch.

❌ Cons

A lot of this show is cringy.

That’s the biggest issue.

Some jokes feel forced, some characters feel like exaggerated gimmicks, and the humor doesn’t always land.

Compared to Jessie, it’s just not as strong.

And the constant cast changes make the show feel inconsistent.

It never really finds a stable identity after the early seasons.

💭 Final Thoughts

Bunk’d is a weird one.

It starts off as a solid continuation of Jessie, with a fun new setting and familiar characters.

But over time, it slowly turns into something completely different.

Not bad.

Just… different.

There’s still charm there, especially with the camp vibe, but it never reaches the same level as Jessie.

And yeah…

A lot of it is still pretty cringy.

⚠️ Spoiler Warning

Alright, quick spoiler talk.

🚨 Spoilers

The biggest shift in the show is losing the Ross kids over time.

Once Emma leaves and eventually the others fade out, the show becomes more about the camp itself and the new characters.

That’s where it either works for you or doesn’t.

Some people like the new cast.

Some people don’t.

For me, it just feels less consistent.

The setting stays strong, but the identity changes too much.

Anyways hope y’all enjoy today’s review.

Join me for another Camp Related show. And trust me its a doozy.
