It’s the 5th. Time to hold a grudge
🎞️ Let’s Start by Showing You the Trailers, Shall We?
🛸 Setup: Phantom Menace, But Make It Chaotic
This game takes the plot of The Phantom Menace and turns it into a side-scrolling, platform-jumping, Jedi-smacking co-op brawler.
But essentially in this remaster you get to play as any hero you want.
The choices are:
- Obi-Wan
- Qui-Gon
- Mace Windu
- Darth Maul
- Ki-Adi-Mundi
If you couldn’t guess, I picked Darth Maul. He’s my second favorite Star Wars villain.
🎮 Gameplay and Story: Not Much to Say
… except for 2 things.
And these 2 things are negative.
1. Limited Lives = Pain
The game only gives you a specific amount of lives. If you die, you lose a life. If you lose all your lives, you have to start over.
Yeah… what makes that worse is in each chapter, the lives don’t regenerate.
So you still have the same amount of lives you had left from the previous chapter.
Yeah don’t worry, you will only die every so often by either getting shot at or falling off the map.
2. Annoying Map Parts
Some specific parts of the map are frustrating.
You have to jump up ledges while robots are standing on them, shooting at you. If you get shot off, you will have to climb back up.
Heck, let’s add a 3rd complaint because there is a 3rd issue.
3. Multiplayer = Friendship Destroyer
The multiplayer for this game sucks.
The whole gimmick of this game and re-release is that you can play with a friend at home on your console together.
Here’s the thing:
Don’t play this game with a friend.
To describe how hard playing this game on multiplayer is, the best way to put it is this: This game’s multiplayer is an assured way to push the limits of your friendship.
If you wanna see how strong your friendship is—if it’s fragile, if it’s sturdy—play this game.
But if your friendship isn’t sturdy, then this game is a one-way ticket to your friendship ending.
Yeah.
😬 So Is It Even Fun?
Yeah before you say, “Then how is any of this fun?”
Well, it’s fun when you’re playing single-player.
Until it isn’t.
Because the “until it isn’t” part is when you run out of your lives and have to restart that chapter from the start.
🏆 Unlockables: Surprise! It’s Jar Jar
Oh btw, in this remaster, if you play through all 26 levels, you get to unlock random new playable characters.
Some are just random enemies you fight.
But the best character you can unlock is Jar Jar Binks.
Oh wait, did I say best?
Oh wait—my bad, lol—he’s never the best at anything.
🌀 Level Design: Strange Is an Understatement
Also, some level designs are strange, to say the least.
I mean, don’t get me wrong—the level designs range from looking normal…
Then there are moments where, for example:
On a level where you’re in Coruscant and you’re jumping across flying cars—
One of the car designs is just a stretched-out texture of C-3PO.
So to say the graphics in this game are odd might be an understatement.
👋 So What Ratings Will I Give This Game?
Well, it’s gonna get a solid 7/10.
As stated, it ain’t the best, but it also isn’t the worst.
I still recommend checking this game out.
Anyway, hope y’all enjoyed this review.
Till next time—
And this indeed is a Revenge of the 5th.
