Epic Movie (2007)

Epic Movie (2007) 🌪

“Parody movies were once great… and then this showed up and killed the genre.”

Let’s start by showing y’all the trailers shall we?

⚠️ Content Warning

This review discusses films that contain extreme vulgar humor, crude jokes, and nonstop low-brow comedy.

Epic Movie and Disaster Movie rely heavily on:

– Sexual and explicit jokes
– Gross-out humor taken to the extreme
– Constant pop culture gags with little restraint
– Strong language and profanity
– Shock-value comedy that often prioritizes being offensive over being funny

These films rarely pause or tone it down — the humor is loud, excessive, and relentless from start to finish.

If you’re sensitive to over-the-top vulgarity or aggressive “anything-for-a-laugh” comedy, just know:

«these movies push that style to its absolute limit… and then keep going.»

You’ve been warned 😤

🧠 Non-Spoiler Plot Overview

Alright so the “plot” (and I’m using that word VERY loosely)

We follow a group of random characters who somehow end up in a parody version of Narnia.

That’s it.

That’s the plot.

But don’t worry… because every 10 seconds the movie goes:

> HEY LOOK! A REFERENCE!

Narnia

Pirates of the Caribbean

X-Men

Harry Potter

Nacho Libre

Borat

Willy Wonka

And NONE of it connects.

It’s not a parody.

It’s a checklist.

🧍‍♂️ Character Rundown

Yeah… no.

There are no characters.

There are props.

That’s what these are.

The “main group” → cardboard

Jack Sparrow parody → just a guy doing a bad impression

Willy Wonka → weird for no reason

Nobody has:

personality

development

purpose

They exist to walk on screen, say something stupid, and leave.

⏱️ Pacing / Flow

This movie doesn’t have pacing.

It has:

> “NEXT REFERENCE. GO.”

Scene starts → random joke → cut → new scene → random joke → cut

There is ZERO flow.

It feels like:

> watching YouTube clips stitched together by someone who’s never seen a movie before

And it never slows down.

Which sounds good…

Until you realize it never slows down because:

> it’s scared you’ll notice how bad it is

✅ Pros

No seriously I’m trying.

Uhhh…

Some costumes look accurate?

That’s it.

That’s all I got.

❌ Cons

Ohhh here we go.

No actual parody structure

Jokes don’t have setup or punchlines

Over-reliance on pop culture references

Gross-out humor that isn’t even funny

Terrible pacing

No memorable characters

Feels lazy

Feels cheap

Feels like it was written in 10 minutes

And the BIGGEST issue:

> It killed parody movies for YEARS

Because after this, people stopped trusting the genre.

🧃 Friedberg & Seltzer (yeah we gotta talk about this)

I’m sorry…

I STILL can’t take this name seriously.

Friedberg & Seltzer

That does NOT sound like directors.

That sounds like:

> a sparkling water brand

Like I’m expecting to walk into a store and see:

> “Friedberg & Seltzer – Now with extra fizz”

And honestly?

That tracks.

Because this movie feels like:

> carbonated nonsense

All bubbles.

No substance.

You drink it (watch it) and go:

> “Yeah… that tasted like nothing.”

⭐ Rating

0/10

🧠 Final Thoughts

This is not just a bad movie.

This is:

> where comedy goes to die

It doesn’t understand parody.

It doesn’t understand jokes.

It doesn’t understand structure.

It just throws stuff at the screen and hopes you laugh.

And you don’t.

You just sit there like:

> “…what am I watching?”

⚠️ Spoiler Warning

Not like it matters… but yeah, here we go

🗑️ Spoilers

So the movie pretends like it has a story with these four “chosen ones” going into Narnia.

Cool idea… right?

WRONG.

Because the second they get there, the movie completely forgets about story and just starts firing off random nonsense.

You’ve got:

a Willy Wonka scene that goes on WAY too long and isn’t funny, the joke being what id Willy Wonka but he uses human teeth and balls for his candy, uh huh.

Jack Sparrow just randomly showing up doing a bad cosplay impression

superheroes popping in for no reason

Nacho Libre jokes that don’t even land

Borat showing up because… 2007 I guess

And NONE of this connects.

It’s not like:

> “this leads to this leads to this”

It’s more like:

> “this happens… now THIS happens… now THIS happens”

And then the “final battle” happens…

And it’s just chaos.

Characters you don’t care about
Fighting for reasons you don’t understand
With jokes that don’t land

And then the movie just… ends.

No payoff.
No satisfying conclusion.
No “oh that was clever.”

Just:

> “okay we’re done here”

🎯 Final Final Thought

If you want to see how parody is DONE RIGHT:

Airplane!

The Naked Gun

Scary Movie 1 & 2

If you want to see how parody DIES:

> watch this

Or better yet…

> don’t 😤
