Scary Movie 4 (2006) 📽🎥🎞
“Yeah… this is where it starts feeling like a formula.”

Let’s start by showing y’all the trailers shall we?
⚠️ Content Warning
This review discusses a film that contains crude humor, sexual jokes, and over-the-top parody content.
Scary Movie 4 (2006) includes:
– Vulgar and suggestive humor
– Occasional gross-out gags
– Strong language and crude dialogue
– Parodies that push boundaries for comedic effect
– Absurd and sometimes uncomfortable joke setups
While not as extreme as earlier entries, the film still leans into:
«immature, no-filter comedy that can catch you off guard»
If you’re sensitive to raunchy or low-brow humor, just know:
«this movie still goes there… just a little more controlled this time.»
You’ve been warned 😤

🧠 Non-Spoiler Plot Overview
Alright so now we’re fully in the post-Wayans era, and at this point the franchise knows exactly what it is.
This movie is mainly parodying War of the Worlds, The Grudge, Saw, and The Village. And instead of trying to juggle everything like the third movie, this one actually sticks a bit more to a central plot… kinda.
Cindy is now working as a caretaker for an old woman, and of course that leads into The Grudge parody stuff, while at the same time there’s an alien invasion going on again, this time more focused on War of the Worlds.
So the movie is trying to balance horror parody with alien invasion again…
and yeah…
> we’ve kinda been here before

🧍♂️ Character Rundown
Cindy is still here, still being carried by Anna Faris, and honestly she’s doing a lot of the heavy lifting again. She’s still playing everything with that confused, overwhelmed energy that keeps things grounded.
Tom comes back, and again Charlie Sheen just plays everything completely straight, which helps the comedy a lot more than it probably should.
Then you’ve got the addition of characters like the creepy kid from The Grudge parody, and of course Dr. Phil and Shaq randomly showing up in a Saw parody scene… because of course they do.
And again, Leslie Nielsen is back, doing exactly what you expect him to do.

⏱️ Pacing / Flow
This one feels more… controlled.
Like the movie knows the formula now and is just following it.
Scenes connect a little better than 3 in some ways, but at the same time it feels less energetic. It’s smoother, but also a little more predictable.
You can kind of feel when a joke is coming before it happens.
And that’s where the issue starts.
—
😂 Funniest Moments
There are still some moments that genuinely work.
The Saw parody with Dr. Phil and Shaq is honestly one of the funniest parts of the movie. The whole idea of putting those two into a life-or-death trap and then having them just casually argue their way through it is ridiculous in the best way.
The War of the Worlds parody has some decent moments too, especially with how over-the-top the destruction is treated like it’s just another inconvenience.
And the Grudge parody has its moments, especially when it leans into how weird and uncomfortable that whole setup is.
But at the same time…
you start noticing something.
—
🧠 Comedy Style
This is where it starts feeling repetitive.
The humor is still that Airplane / Naked Gun style, with deadpan delivery and visual gags, but now it feels more like:
> okay… we’ve seen this before
The jokes are still there, but they don’t hit as hard.
It feels like the movie is relying more on the formula than actually pushing the comedy further.
And that’s where it starts losing some impact.

🧠 Final Thoughts
This movie isn’t bad.
It’s still funny in places.
But it definitely feels like the franchise is starting to run out of steam.
It’s more polished, more structured, but also more predictable.
The energy isn’t the same, the jokes don’t hit as hard, and it feels like the movie is just going through the motions at times.
You can still enjoy it…
but you can also feel that it’s not hitting the same level as before.

⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Alright… let’s get into it 😤
—
🗑️ Spoilers
So the movie builds around Cindy working in this house with the creepy old woman, which leads into the Grudge parody, while at the same time Tom is dealing with the alien invasion.
And again, instead of building tension, the movie just keeps turning everything into jokes.
The Saw parody with Dr. Phil and Shaq is one of the bigger moments, where they’re stuck in a trap and instead of panicking, they just argue their way through it.
The alien invasion stuff becomes the main focus again toward the third act, but just like in Scary Movie 3, it never really feels threatening.
It’s more about the jokes than the story.
The final act kind of just wraps everything up without a big payoff.
There’s no strong ending, no big moment where everything comes together.
It just kind of… ends.
—
🎬 Third Act Breakdown
So once the alien invasion fully kicks in, the movie shifts into that War of the Worlds parody mode.
But instead of feeling intense or climactic, it feels more like the movie is just continuing the same jokes it’s been doing the whole time.
The aliens show up, things happen, people react in dumb ways, and the movie just keeps stacking jokes instead of building toward something.
There’s no real escalation.
It just feels like:
> more of the same
And when it ends, it doesn’t feel like a big finale.
It just feels like:
> okay we’re done now

🎯 Final Final Thought
This is where the franchise starts feeling like a formula.
Still funny.
Still watchable.
But not as fresh.
Not as sharp.
And definitely not as memorable.

Yeah…
we might actually be back 😤
