Are You Afraid of The Dark? Ghost Island: Let’s start off with showing y’all the one and only trailer for this third and final season of the rebooted Are You Afraid Of The Dark…which should say a lot about this season of There’s Only one trailer…bit here enjoy.
Oh boy, we’re in for a doozy….I don’t think it’s ever a good sign when there’s only 1 trailer for this show and no other marketing….
But first, let’s get the rating out of the way before we get into any spoilers….overall I ain’t gonna lie I’m disappointed in this 3rd/final season….
Gotta admit they started off with this rebooted series as meh. But got their Shite together for season 2…but now where straight back to meh….guess this was one giant meh sandwich….the main issue with this 3rd season is it feels too much of a cliché….which I’ll explain in spoilers…
Also, this season is shorter than season 2, where season 2 had 6 episodes…this season only has 4 episodes….
BTW this season was so bad it was the final nail in the coffin for this rebooted series…..they stopped with it afterwards…they released all 3 rebooted seasons on Paramount Plus, which btw they removed the entire rebooted series off Paramount Plus recently….that should tell u a lot…
So overall I’ll give this season a solid 210, warning spoilers ahead y’all been warned…
BTW here’s the intro theme for this specific season….
So in this show we follow our new band of kids who are not really kids they are early teens…. Anyway, our 4 main characters are named…
Midnight Society
Telci Huynh as Kayla King and Bella King
Luca Padovan as Leo B. Stoker
Dior Goodjohn as Summer DaCosta
Chance Hurstfield as Ferris Poe
So they decide to go take a vacation on a tropical island away from everything….they also move away from doing the Midnight Society things which involved going in the woods in the middle of the night to tell spooky stories…
Why did they move on from that? It’s because Kayla just lost her twin sister Bella…who was in charge of the Midnight Society, so they feel it’s not appropriate to continue without her…understandable…
Also if the idea of a Are You Afraid Of The Dark? Show without the key feature which is the Midnight Society going into the woods at 12am in the morning to tell spooky stories…already sets off red flags for u, then yeah this season isn’t gonna be for u
So the gang heads to a tropical island…..btw remember how I alluded to this season feeling too clichéd? Well take a look at this plot summary and tell me if u see what I mean….
“Four best friends and members of a Midnight Society get more than they bargained for when what they think is a fun summer vacation on a resort island turns into something sinister.
Uh hug. Yeah sure plz continue I’m just so fascinated…
They encounter genuine terror locked away in one of the rooms after checking into their hotel, and as the kids try to enjoy their vacation, they are pulled back into the mystery of the island’s ghosts, ultimately leading them to a terrifying and shocking revelation: many guests check in to room 13, but they never check out.”
Oh wow really? Room 13? Ghosts? People vanish? Plz tell me more….so yeah they go check in this resort…..when they believe they’re in a tropical paradise….Kayla starts to notice things such as her phone vanishing…so she asks the front clerk guy… and he says he will keep an eye out for it…
I wouldn’t trust him, there’s something sus about him….he’s hiding something, it’s obvious because he earlier was putting a blanket over a mirror in the main entrance….
Well that’s strange, anyways things get weirder
…this teen boy who works there named Max (played by Conner Sherry), who Leo B. Stoker starts falling in love with…..he’s the gay character in this show….btw spoiler alert, Max isn’t supposed to be here….
Yeah he’s sorta kinda but not really a ghost…..he got transported from his time from the late 1990s and now he’s in the modern-day period…..realistically he should be an old man…..so once Leo finds out he’s kinda devastated about that, also they now got to help him get back to his time…
Oh, also Kayla enters this closed-off room on floor 13, where inside the room everything is covered in cloth…..heck so is the mirror, which Kayla stupidly takes it off and looks into the mirror which is slightly cracked…
Just then a ghost face appears, and this ghost named the white-dressed lady starts coming out of the mirror….then our lobby mam main clerk guy comes and yaks Kayla away….he takes her and the gang with him to save their lives…
He tries warning them they are now living in a nightmare because this ghost is chasing them down….anyways let’s get to the plot twist….so come to the end of the episode we find out that the clerk guy is in fact evil…
He goes up with Kayla to the room again….after she finds out about the ghost….the ghost was a beautiful woman who was planning on dating a guy……but on an unfortunate day at the resort…her new found lover shoved her into the mirror….locking her away in a realm where she can’t escape from..
She eventually died, now she haunts any mirrors, specifically anyone who looks at the mirrors….now who’s this boyfriend u may ask? Turns out it’s the clerk…..oh wow what a shocker…
I could already tell something was off about him. Especially since he seemed to know a lot of info on the ghost and seemed to know more than he let on…..so Kayla realizes this…so the clerk guy shoves her into the mirror so she can’t expose him….womp womp…
So while Kayla is in the mirror she gets visited by her ghost sister who helps her get out of the mirror…..even though u shouldn’t be able to get out of the mirror…..how does she help her? Easy she gives her the ability and motivation to make herself visible in the mirror…..ohhhhhh.
Also, this gives Kayla closure to her sister’s passing…..how sweet.
After her friends get suspicious of the clerk’s answer to why Kayla vanished…..they start to not believe him, so they go visit the room where they see her in the mirror and they pull her out….
So now they have to find a way to stop Mr. Evil Clerk before he tries to escape the island…..so they stop him by catching up to him at the shore of the beach where they stop him from getting on a boat….they confront him about the fact he murdered that woman by shoving her into the mirror….how dare he…
Yeah how dare he, I do agree….this guy is clearly a monster……so as he tries to swim to the boat they just stand there and watch….guess what happens? The White dressed lady comes out of the water and drags him to the depths…..womp womp….she comes out of the water and finally moves on to the afterlife, now at peace since her murderer is now dead….
Also, Max gets sent back to his time…. he and Leo say their goodbyes…he promises Leo he won’t forget him….how cute..
Nickelodeon and modern Hollywood pl, hear me out. Plz let this series rest…let it be a part of a bygone era…..plz don’t revive this series ever again, u tried to revive it but y’all didn’t stick the landing…..which is fine, u tried something and it failed……
But plz just never revive this series I beg u….
Anyways hope y’all enjoyed this reveiw, here’s a tease for the next review I’m working on…..see y’all next time.
