📽️ Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008 Film)

🎬 Let’s start by showing y’all the trailers, shall we?

👾 The Animated Film That Started It All

Yeah, today we’re diving into the classic animated Star Wars film that kicked off The Clone Wars show.

Unfortunately, this film isn’t beloved by the fans—they call the animation ugly.

Me personally? I actually liked this film a lot and I still do.

🧠 Wait, the Plot’s in the Opening?

So what’s the plot of the film? Well, funny thing—it’s actually given right in the introduction. So enjoy the clip:

Also here’s the soundtrack piece for this opening:

And here’s this piece of music that plays during the council meeting at the beginning:

📦 Jabba’s Baby Drama

So essentially, in case some of y’all don’t click on the link—Rotta the Hutt (Jabba’s son) gets kidnapped by pirates. Meanwhile, the Jedi are off in the Outer Rim fighting wars to stop Dooku and his crew from taking over key planets.

Yeah, that’s mainly the rundown, but there’s more.

⚔️ Christophsis, Sky-Guy, and Snips

Anakin and Obi-Wan are in a war on the planet Christophsis (a crystallized planet).

Unfortunately, they need backup, so Yoda sends Anakin a new apprentice named Ahsoka Tano. Yes, an apprentice—even though he’s really not mentally ready to have one.

But Yoda believes it is time for him to have one, whether he likes it or not. Oh, and don’t worry—Anakin doesn’t like it. I do love their nicknames for each other.

Ahsoka calls Anakin “Sky-Guy,” while Anakin calls her “Snips.”

🧗‍♀️ Clones, Castles, and Mountain Races

So after they push back the Separatists, Anakin and Ahsoka, along with Captain Rex and a platoon, are sent to go save Jabba’s son. Meanwhile, Obi-Wan goes to negotiate with Jabba because they cannot lose their alliance with him since he controls a lot of the Outer Rim.

But of course, things aren’t always that simple. Dooku gets wind of this negotiation and plans to go tell Jabba the Jedi kidnapped his son and are plotting against him.

Just to get Jabba to join the Separatists. Also, he has help from his apprentice Asajj Ventress.

How rude.

So will the gang save Jabba’s son? Will Obi-Wan negotiate with Jabba the Hutt? All will be released in the spoilers.

Oh but quickly—Anakin and Ahsoka play a game while they, along with the clones, climb up the side of a mountain to reach the castle at the top where Rotta is being held captive.

What’s the game? To see who gets up there first. Say what now?

🎵 A Quick Soundtrack Fangirl Moment

If you can’t tell, I really love the soundtrack in this film. So now let’s get the rating out of the way.

😒 Can We Talk About Dooku?

I don’t know why I bring this up now—but I have never been a fan of the way Dooku is portrayed in The Clone Wars show and in this film.

Essentially, Dooku isn’t supposed to be a full-blown Sith. He’s definitely not a Jedi, but he doesn’t fully buy into the whole Sith thing—mainly the evil side of it.

He wants peace. He sees the dark side as a means to an end—the only option. But here, in this film and the series, he’s instead portrayed as a Saturday morning cartoon mustache-twirling villain who is just evil because we can’t get into any political nuances with this guy.

No, it’s all black and white. You’re supposed to hate bad guys. See? He’s evil.

🌟 Final Verdict Before Spoilers

Overall yeah—this is getting a 10/10. That’s just my opinion.

⚠️ Warning: Spoilers ahead. Y’all been warned. ⚠️

🌵 Tatooine, Forts, and Family Betrayals

So, come the third act, Anakin and Ahsoka make it to Tatooine—after a crash landing.

Meanwhile, Obi-Wan faces off against Ventress at the fort Anakin and Ahsoka left.

Anyways, after Obi-Wan defeats Ventress, Padmé gets wind of Anakin and Obi-Wan needing help, so she decides to go negotiate with Jabba’s uncle named Ziro the Hutt, who’s not too far away—he’s living on Coruscant.

She goes to negotiate with him  but ends up being kidnapped. Turns out Ziro is working with Dooku and helped aid in kidnapping his own nephew. Wow, what a piece of shite of an uncle.

Luckily for Padmé, while she’s in her cell, she’s able to reach her communicator and contact for help. Okay, that’s good.

🏜️ Desert Run and Dark Side Decoys

Anyway, back to Anakin and Ahsoka.

Anakin must come up with a plan to get Jabba’s son back to him on time because they are wandering through the desert and it’s about to become nighttime.

So he sends Ahsoka off on her own while he continues walking in the opposite direction to lure Dooku away because he senses Dooku—and the dark side—is coming.

“Surrender the Huttlet or die, Skywalker.”

So after Dooku and Anakin battle it out, he slices the backpack on Anakin’s back. Turns out—it’s filled with rocks. He handed Rotta to Ahsoka so she could take Jabba’s son back safely.

She got a head start so she might succeed—except Dooku has sent his two MagnaGuards to deal with her.

🛸 Happy Endings, Holograms, and Hutts

Anakin escapes and makes it to Jabba. Ahsoka then enters the room with Rotta.

Also, Padmé gets rescued by the clones. C-3PO sends them after her because he got the message. Padmé aims her blaster at Ziro the Hutt and forces him to go on the hologram to admit to Jabba that he was behind his own nephew’s kidnapping and that it wasn’t the Jedi.

Anyway, the end is a happy. Rotta has been returned safely, and the alliance between Jabba and the Jedi has not been broken. And Anakin now has an apprentice.

So all is good with the world… until we hit Season 5 of The Clone Wars show—where things are not.

💧 On the Jarrodism Meter, This One Left Me All Moisty
