The Santa Clauses β Season 2 (2023) Review π
Letβs start by showing yβall the trailers, shall we? π₯

π Plot Rundown (Non-Spoiler)
This season centers on Scott Calvin (Tim Allen) facing the return of Magnus Antas (Eric Stonestreet) β a self-proclaimed βMad Santaβ β and his equally loyal sidekick Olga (Marta Kessler, from The Mysterious Benedict Society, which Disney+ decided to yeet into the void). Their goal? Reclaim the North Pole and bring back Magnusβs reign.
Meanwhile, our main gang is mostly tied up in scattered side plots. Cal and Sandra continue to be background noise, Mrs. Claus still wrestles with identity questions, and newcomer Kris Kringle (Gabriel Iglesias) β one of the few standouts this year β gets criminally little screen time despite instantly clicking with the audience.

π§βπ Character Breakdown
Scott Calvin / Santa Claus β Still sharp with his humor but spends much of the season reacting instead of driving the story.
Carol Calvin / Mrs. Claus β Exploring who she is outside of being Mrs. Claus, but without much payoff this year.
Cal & Sandra Calvin β Side stories so minor they couldβve been cut.
Magnus Antas β Over-the-top, theatrical, and petty in the best way. Stonestreet clearly has fun with the role.
Olga β Loyal to Magnus to a fault, providing both backup muscle and quippy support.
Kris βKringleβ Kringle β Gabriel Iglesiasβs character is warm, funny, and the kind of energy the show couldβve used more of.
The Elves β Some work, others flop hard.

βοΈ The Good
Magnus & Olgaβs chemistry as a villain duo.
Gabriel Iglesiasβs comedic charm.
A handful of callbacks to the original Santa Clause films.
π¨οΈ The Not-So-Good
The main gang feels sidelined.
Humor with the new elves often feels forced.
A final βconflictβ that doesnβt live up to the build-up.
π Final Thoughts
Season 2 had its moments, mostly thanks to Magnus, Olga, and Kris Kringle, but the pacing was off, and the resolution felt almost too easy. Still, itβs a decent holiday binge if youβre here for the performances more than the plot.
Rating: π 6/10 β Magnus and Olga carry, Gabriel Iglesias shines, but the rest is stocking stuffer filler.

β οΈ Spoiler Section β How Magnus Antas Is Defeated
After a whole season of scheming, recruiting, and building up his big North Pole takeover, Magnus Antasβs downfall isnβt a magical duel, a clever trap, or even an accident.
Scott basically⦠talks him out of it. Yep. During their final face-off, Scott points out that Magnus seemed to have more genuine joy performing for kids than ruling over Christmas. Magnus admits he did enjoy that more, and with that, he calls it quits on the villain life.
By the next scene, heβs happily working with Kris Kringle (Mr. Iglesias) putting on shows for kids. Olga, instead of going down with the ship, justβ¦ moves on with her life. The end.
Itβs an oddly wholesome ending β but after all the buildup, it lands less like a climax and more like someone flicked the βvillain offβ switch.
