Lego Star Wars Summer Vacation (2022)

LEGO Star Wars: Summer Vacation (2022) 🌴☀️🏖️

Let’s start by showing y’all the trailers shall we?

Who remembers this? Doesn’t matter — today we’re taking a look at this LEGO Star Wars special.

Non-Spoiler Rundown 📝

We follow our main characters Finn, Poe, and Rey as they go on summer vacation. Finn’s whole goal? Spend one last fun summer with his two best friends before they split up to do their own thing. Sweet, right? Well… turns out the galaxy has other plans, because the second they arrive at this luxury space cruise/resort, his friends immediately go off to do their own thing without him. Poor Finn.

And while he’s moping around, Finn starts getting visited by Force Ghosts who each have their own “summer story” to tell him. Yes — apparently in LEGO Star Wars, the afterlife comes with vacation flashbacks.

Obi-Wan tells him about his time drinking and dancing in a bar while undercover (which, excuse me, but Obi-Wan Kenobi having fun in public??). Then we get Vader and Palpatine’s “beach day” — and it’s exactly the disaster you’d expect, with Palps acting like a spoiled toddler while Vader tries to plan activities. And yes, Weird Al Yankovic pops in for a cameo because apparently this cruise ship booked him.

This special is very self-aware, stuffed with silly gags, cameos, and random musical numbers. The humor is kid-friendly but with enough absurdity for adults to laugh at too.

Characters 🎭

Finn – Our main emotional anchor here. He’s the one learning the “lesson” about friendship, though in classic LEGO Star Wars fashion, they poke fun at how dramatic he gets.

Poe – Just here to ham it up in every scene, as usual.

Rey – Spends most of the time off doing her own thing, so don’t expect a ton of her.

Obi-Wan (Ghost) – Brings the most unexpected “party animal” energy of the whole thing.

Anakin (Ghost) – Surprisingly chill for someone whose big vacation story involves trying to keep Palps happy.

Palpatine – The man-child dictator we all know and love.

Weird Al – Literally just himself, no explanation needed.

Pacing ⏱️

It’s short, breezy, and doesn’t overstay its welcome. The mini-stories keep it moving, so you’re never stuck on one bit for too long.

Pros ✅

Fun self-contained summer vibes in the Star Wars galaxy.

Weird Al cameo (because why not).

LEGO humor stays intact — plenty of visual gags and slapstick.

Obi-Wan in vacation mode is a whole mood.

Cons ❌

Rey is barely in it.

The “lesson” for Finn is predictable.

If you’re not into LEGO Star Wars’ style of humor, you’ll probably find it too goofy.

Final Thoughts 💭

Honestly? It’s just dumb fun — exactly what a LEGO Star Wars special should be. They’re not trying to reinvent the franchise here; they’re giving you wacky skits, bright visuals, and unexpected cameos. I laughed way more than I expected to.

Rating: 10/10 😎🌞

Spoilers Ahead 🚨

The big ending lesson is that Finn doesn’t actually need the “perfect summer” with his friends — what matters is that they still care about each other even if they’re all busy. After hearing Obi-Wan’s story about making the best of weird situations, Anakin’s ridiculous beach day with Palps, and even Leia showing up as a Force Ghost to talk about her own adventures, Finn decides to stop sulking.

The final act has everyone coming together for one last musical number (because of course), with Weird Al leading the charge. The Emperor gets a tan that makes him look like he’s been roasted over Mustafar, Vader just gives up trying to impress him, and the whole thing ends with Finn smiling and accepting change — in the goofiest way possible.
