Incredibles 2

Let’s start by showing y’all the trailers, shall we? 🎬

Non-Spoiler Plot Overview

After the events of The Incredibles, superheroes are still outlawed. But a wealthy entrepreneur wants to bring them back into the spotlight—and he’s particularly interested in making Elastigirl the face of the movement. While Helen (Elastigirl) is out fighting crime and saving the day, Bob (Mr. Incredible) is stuck at home playing Mr. Mom: dealing with Jack-Jack’s chaotic powers, Dash’s homework, and Violet’s teenage angst. But not everything is as heroic as it seems, and a new villain emerges with a sinister agenda.

Character Rundown

Helen Parr / Elastigirl (voiced by Holly Hunter) – Becomes the poster hero for superhero resurgence, and gets her own bike, stealth suit, and solo missions.

Bob Parr / Mr. Incredible (voiced by Craig T. Nelson) – Trying (and failing) to manage the house while feeling replaced.

Violet Parr (voiced by Sarah Vowell) – Still dealing with teenage life and her growing powers.

Dash Parr (voiced by Huck Milner) – A ball of energy who still doesn’t quite understand “subtlety.”

Jack-Jack (voiced by Eli Fucile) – A chaos gremlin. Now revealed to have many powers.

Lucius Best / Frozone (voiced by Samuel L. Jackson) – Still cool as ever. Always showing up when needed.

Winston Deavor (voiced by Bob Odenkirk) – The rich man funding the superhero campaign.

Evelyn Deavor (voiced by Catherine Keener) – Winston’s tech-savvy sister who has a complicated view of heroes.

Edna Mode (voiced by Brad Bird) – Returns for a short but fabulous sequence involving Jack-Jack.

Pacing / Episode Flow

The pacing feels off. The first third sets up the switcheroo dynamic—Bob at home, Helen in the field. But the novelty wears thin fast, and the plot doesn’t offer the same suspense, stakes, or emotional weight as the first film. A lot of scenes feel like set pieces without a strong thread connecting them.

Pros

Visually stunning, with sleek animation and smooth action sequences.

Elastigirl’s solo scenes are kinetic and fun to watch.

Jack-Jack vs. the raccoon. Enough said. 🦝🔥

Frozone remains a fan-favorite.

Edna + Jack-Jack = comedic gold.

Cons

Predictable villain reveal.

Lacks the emotional weight and tight narrative of the first film.

Mr. Incredible’s subplot feels stagnant and borderline filler.

The social commentary on screen addiction and media manipulation is surface-level.

The new supporting characters (other supers) are underdeveloped.

Final Thoughts

While Incredibles 2 has some charming moments, stunning visuals, and a few laughs, it doesn’t hold a flame to the originality and depth of the first film. It plays it too safe, borrows too heavily from the original’s structure, and delivers a twist that’s far too easy to spot. Not a bad film—just a disappointing one, especially after a 14-year wait.

Here’s my favorite song from the film: 🎶 (User will insert clip)

Funny Line Highlight: “Cookie… num num?” – Jack-Jack, weaponizing adorableness.

Rating: 5/10 ⭐

Spoilers

The villain is revealed to be Evelyn Deavor, Winston’s sister. She adopts the persona of the Screenslaver to manipulate the public and sabotage the superhero resurgence movement. Her motivation? She believes relying on heroes makes society weak, and after her parents were killed while waiting for a hero, she swore off the idea entirely.

On one hand, her pain is understandable. But her approach makes zero sense. You invent hypnotic tech that controls people and wear a creepy mask with a voice changer… just to make a point?

Also, she somehow hypnotizes an entire party of supers with zero resistance, and her downfall hinges on an old-school flying ship. In the end, the Incredibles and Frozone band together to stop the ship and save the day.

Oh, and Jack-Jack? The MVP. From laser eyes to dimension-hopping to becoming a mini-Hulk baby, he goes full chaos gremlin on the villain. By the end, Evelyn is arrested, Winston clears the air, and superheroes are finally legalized again.

Was it satisfying? Kind of. Was it worth 14 years? Ehhh… not really.
