Power Rangers Cosmic Fury

⚡ Power Rangers: Cosmic Fury Review

🎵 Let’s start by showing y’all the theme song, shall we?

📦 Non-Spoiler Plot Overview

In Cosmic Fury, the Dino Fury Rangers return—but this time, they take the fight to space. Amelia becomes the new Red Ranger, stepping up as team leader. Their cosmic mission? Take down Lord Zedd, who’s mysteriously back from the dead. Along the way, they battle intergalactic threats, gain new powers, and form unexpected alliances. Oh, and somehow Billy, the original Blue Ranger, shows up for tech support and nostalgia. Because sure, why not?

BTW this came at the bookend after the 605h anniversary.

Why Lord Zedd’s Return Makes Zero Sense 🤦‍♂️
Alright, we need to talk about the massive continuity hole here. At the end of Power Rangers in Space, Zordon sacrificed himself by having his energy tube destroyed. His “good energy wave” washed across the galaxy, eradicating evil and purifying many villains. Lord Zedd wasn’t just defeated — he was literally transformed back into his human form, along with Rita Repulsa, and was no longer evil. This was one of the most defining, emotional moments in the franchise, wrapping up a years-long arc.

So… how on Earth (or in space) is Zedd suddenly back in Cosmic Fury, evil, and leading armies again? Did the writers just forget In Space ever happened? Was there a secret clone factory? Did someone decide, “Eh, fans won’t notice”? Because unless there’s an extremely good in-universe explanation (spoiler: there isn’t), this isn’t just a small plot hole — it’s a complete disregard for one of the franchise’s biggest, most impactful story beats.

It’d be like if Darth Vader just showed up alive and evil again after the end of Return of the Jedi with zero explanation. You can’t undo a redemption arc and a magical purification wave without telling us how. Yet here we are.

👥 Character Rundown

Amelia (Red Ranger) – Courageous and compassionate. The heart of the team and now its leader.

Zayto (Zenith Ranger) – Returns with vague cosmic powers and even vaguer explanations.

Ollie (Blue Ranger) – Brainwashed and edgy for most of the season.

Izzy (Green Ranger) – Still cool and fierce, though sidelined.

Javi (Black Ranger) – The musical one. Wields a giant tuning fork.

Fern (Orange Ranger) – Joins late in the game; supportive, sweet, barely developed.

Lord Zedd – Back with no real explanation. Evil, loud, and very shiny.

Billy Cranston (Original Blue Ranger) – Just here. Shows up, builds tech, defies aging, and vibes.

⏱️ Pacing / Episode Flow

With only 10 episodes, everything feels lightning fast. Conflicts arise and resolve in minutes. There are good beats, but they aren’t earned. Characters barely get time to breathe before the next cosmic thing happens. Some arcs feel like outlines rather than full stories.

✅ Pros

Amelia shines as the new leader

Fresh suit designs (even if divisive)

Fun galactic locations and visuals

Quick watch at only 10 episodes

Fern is a wholesome addition

❌ Cons

Zedd’s return is nonsense and not explained

Billy’s presence makes no sense canon-wise

Rushed arcs, especially emotional ones

Weak villain plan

Satisfying payoff? Nowhere in sight

Minimal character development outside Amelia and Ollie

😕 Final Thoughts

Cosmic Fury tries to be a nostalgic farewell and a bold space adventure, but ends up feeling like neither. Amelia deserves props, and there are some cool visual updates, but the story’s rushed, the character logic is busted, and Zedd’s return is pure fanservice with no substance. Billy’s appearance, while fun, breaks continuity in ways that hurt more than help.

4/10

⚠️ Spoiler Warning

Beyond this point, it’s morphin’ time for spoilers.

⚡ SPOILERS

Zedd is defeated with a combined Ranger attack, but the final battle feels anticlimactic. He just… goes down.

Billy’s role is never clarified. He just shows up and no one questions how or why he’s here.

Fern becomes a Ranger almost instantly with no real build-up.

Zayto is revived with “Zenith” powers but does very little.

The team ends up flying into space for more adventures, but it doesn’t feel like a real conclusion.

Final insult? The show doesn’t explain Zedd’s resurrection. Again. He just shows up because nostalgia said so.

Also the gang celebrates at a concert and Billy tells Goofy-haired science man that he might know how to bring back Zordon, yawn.
