Andor Season 2: let’s start by showing yall the trailers shall we?
🛰️ Let’s start by showing yall the trailers, shall we?
Yes, that’s right folks—we’re back after 2 years. Andor has come back for a Season 2.
So today we’re here to answer: is Season 2 as good as Season 1?
Well… spoilers, yes. But there’s 2 out of 12 episodes that felt eh. I’ll mention that briefly right now, then we’ll dive into the plot rundown. 👇
🚫 The First 2 Episodes? Kinda Meh
They are the weakest because Andor finds himself trapped in a confrontation with two separate rebel factions who don’t have a leader—and who argue all day about who’s gonna be the leader or not. 😑
They also don’t know what to do with Andor because he’s dressed in Imperial gear and landed in an Imperial TIE Fighter—because he was sent by Luthon to steal a ship. ✈️
Yeah, the first 2 just felt eh.
But I did enjoy the B-plot where Mon Mothma is preparing her kid for a wedding. That was more intriguing. 💍
📜 So What’s the Plot Rundown?
Well, in these 12 episodes—which consist of 4 arcs—we follow Andor as he’s starting to join the rebellion. Each arc has a time jump, each one getting closer to the events at the beginning of Rogue One. ⏳
This season mainly revolves around this planet and group of people called the Ghormans. They’re protesting against the Empire because the Empire has come down there and is doing something secretive, which involves a plan to drill to the core of the planet. But they need the people cleared out of the area.
But the Ghormans refuse to leave because they’re being oppressed. Heck, multiple years back, there was a massacre that happened where Moff Tarkin landed his shuttle on top of many Ghormans. 💀
So now they have a monument in the plaza of the planet. Will the Empire succeed in whatever they have planned?
Oh—also Director Krennic is in this season. He’s putting together a small group of people to be in his inner circle that he can trust with specific secretive information on a project he’s been working on.
🤫 Psssst… it’s the Death Star I’m referring to.
Also, I find there to be a bit of irony in all this. It took the Empire a total of 20 years to finish the Death Star (it doesn’t get finished until the beginning of Rogue One) and they somehow lose it in the span of like… 1 week? (Scoffs)
🕶️ Andor’s Still on the Move
Anyways, Luthon is still lurking in the shadows (when I say shadows, I mean in a store he runs in Coruscant), giving Andor missions to do—all the while Mon Mothma and Bail do senator things.
Side note—glad I brought that up, because time to discuss about the recasting of Bail Organa.
Yeah, so in this season they had to recast Bail. The original actor who played Bail Organa in:
- the prequels
- Obi-Wan Kenobi
- and Rogue One
has been Jimmy Smits. But unfortunately, his schedule didn’t line up perfectly for him to appear as Bail in Andor Season 2, so they recasted him with Benjamin Bratt.
Luckily, the two actors look similar enough—if you squint. 😅
I’ll put images here so you can determine if you agree or not:

📸 Jimmy Smits

😬 The Controversial Moment in Episode 3
Also, I quickly wanna talk about the infamous controversy part that happened in Episode 3.
In Episode 3, we see an Imperial officer try to have his way with Bix.
Yes—for the first time ever—we see an attempted sexual assault scene in Star Wars.
Yeah… on one hand, I understand what the show was going for.
It wanted to show us how evil the Empire is.
But on the other, I’m just like:
No wait, seriously?? We’re going there?
I’ll say this—the scene isn’t nearly as bad as many articles and reviewers claimed it out to be.
But it did cause this so-called Star Wars fan named Star Wars Theory to throw a tantrum and say, and I quote:
“This doesn’t belong in Star Wars. The Empire and Vader would never condone SA.”
Firstly… what do you mean Vader and the Empire would never condone this?
Secondly—ok, maybe Vader wouldn’t—but he isn’t here in this show or this scene.
Also… the Empire is a fascist regime.
The hell you mean they wouldn’t condone this?? 😒
But sure—I guess mass genocide and blowing up planets is just A-OK?
Also, lastly again—what do you mean Vader wouldn’t condone this?
Oh sure, Vader is totally against SA, but I guess killing children and aiding in genocide of thousands of innocent women, children, and men is fine?
Again, I don’t know this guy’s argument. 🙄
Oh—and he decided to quit watching the show.
Well good.
The show is made for a mature audience.
Star Wars Theory is anything but mature.
I’ll mention though this show doesn’t shy away from men abusing woman if u know wel
⏳ Leading Straight Into Rogue One
Anyways, last thing I’ll mention is this season is leading to the events of Rogue One—as in, straight into the beginning of Rogue One. 🎬
So it explains why there’s a time jump each arc.
I believe it’s like a 1-year time jump?
Yeah, so multiple years this season spans across.
So:
- Will the rebellion come together? (Well duh, we know that already.)
- Will the Empire get the materials they want from Ghorman?
- What is the material?
Will those two Imperial officers named:
- Dedra Meero
- Syril Karn
(who are now dating each other 😬)…
will they finally find Andor and whoever is in charge of the rebellion?
All of that gets answered—right after the spoiler warning. ⚠️
Oh, also—we finally see how K-2SO becomes part of the team.
So how does he?
All will be revealed.
💔 Will Andor Stay or Leave?
Because this entire season, he wants to leave and be done so he can live with his girlfriend Bix.
So will he stay?
Well—we know he stays.
So the better question is: what makes him decide to stay?
Again, be patient. All will be revealed.
🎯 But First, the Rating…
9/10
But before I do that, I think this will help explain what my thoughts are on this show as a whole:
After this show, I really hope Stellan Skarsgård (who plays Luthon) gets an award or something like that.
He played this character so perfectly well. 🏆
Don’t worry—I’ll get to his fate later in the spoilers.
But all you need to know right now is this:
After you watch Andor Season 1 and 2, you will see Rogue One in a completely new light.
🧵 Does it connect you say?
Well, obviously. And I love how seamlessly it connects. Let me point it out a few examples:
- The end of Andor Season 2 leads straight into the beginning of Rogue One, where we see Cassian in the film.
- The end of Rogue One leads straight into the beginning of A New Hope.
I love how neither Andor nor Rogue One take away or hinder the original trilogy.
It actually expands on it and makes it more interesting. 😍
Also—I have to pay my respect to the director for being able to seamlessly have this series lead straight into Rogue One, and the director of Rogue One having Rogue One lead straight into the beginning of A New Hope.
The film that started it all.
Essentially, the events of the end of Andor Season 2 and the entirety of Rogue One, up to the beginning of A New Hope, last around a few days.
🛒 Realism in Star Wars? This Show’s Built Different
Another thing I love about the show Andor is how much it doesn’t feel like Star Wars.
It’s the most grounded thing you will ever see in Star Wars. Here’s some examples (and this is info from the first and second season):
- In Season 1, we see a person get shoved into a brick wall, which kills them instantly.
We’ve never seen that before in Star Wars. Guess brain damage is now a thing. 🧠💥 - We also see an elderly prisoner die from a stroke.
Well… can’t say I’ve ever seen someone die in Star Wars via a stroke.
🧃 Sunglasses, Grocery Stores, and Reality TV??
In Season 2, we get to see:
- Stores which sell fruit and normal grocery food—like this is just a typical Tuesday. 🍊🛍️
- A hotel. Yes, we get to see a hotel in this season, which Andor attends.
- Andor wears sunglasses in one scene.
Yes, this is the first time we’ve seen sunglasses in Star Wars. 😎 - We get to see live news coverage happen.
- Also reality TV, and discussions about propaganda in this show. 📺🗣️
- We get to see a hospital in this show. 🏥
Again—these are things that are very grounded in reality, and things you wouldn’t stop and think about in Star Wars. But it makes sense, since the show focuses on the day-to-day life of Andor and the start of the rebellion.
🪧 Riot Gear, Protestors, and Political Parallels
Plus, this show dives more into the political side of things.
I will say this:
Some stuff in here does mirror our reality. That’s all I’ll say. 👀
Also—we see some troopers wear riot gear, holding batons and shields.
(I’ll get to that specific episode in the spoilers. That’s the big focal point of the season—the shocking episode. 🔥)
⚠️ Spoiler Zone Begins: The Ghorman Massacre Setup
So what happens to the Ghormans? Well the empire goes down and deploys barricades, troopers and all that prepared to go into the crowd of Ghormans who are protesting at the Plaza, they realize that this is a trap so they all start singing peacefully.
🎶 “We Are the Ghor!” — Peaceful Protest, Brutal Response
Unfortunately the empire want chaos so they have a sniper take out an imperial officer and this leads to them attacking the Ghormans, yes we see a mass genocide happen and it’s fucking awful.
The set up for the massacre happens for the first half of this episode, the empire deploy the barricades and the units with batons and shields while the Ghormans come and protest at the Plaza. All the while Andor is in shock of what’s happening, heck he asks his friend on the communication device if he knew this was gonna happen.
All the while the Ghormans are protesting to save their lives “we are the Ghor! The Galaxy is watching!”
⚖️ Syril, Dedra, and KS Droids: Collateral Damage
Also Andor is in the crowd, unfortunately he gets discovered by Syril Karn who at this point confronts Dedra Meero about what they are even doing there? And is horrified at what the empire is doing.
No really? You think? Also the empire deploy imperial robots and keep in mind robots supposed to be illegal in the empire, so this shows their loyalty.
While Syril Karn sees all the chaos, he then sees Andor and instantly goes for Andor and attacks him. Andor says who are you and Syril gets shot in the head. Well, so much for that.
Oh also after this massacre we of course get imperial news propaganda covering it up, wow what a shocker. Also yes this show made the KS droids horrifying.
I mean one of the KS droids grabs a woman who’s crawling on the ground and proceeds to pick her up then yeet her across where she falls on the floor and dies on impact while the camera focuses on her lifeless body with her eyes still opened, yikes.
And this is where Andor gets KS-2O, he picks up a ran-over KS robot who gets sliced in half by a car because I guess he wants a robot to be on his team?
📡 Mon Mothma’s Broadcast: One Voice, One Exit
Also I guess now Dedra Meero has to live with the fact she sorta used Syril Karn to her advantage. Again this is what happens when you have blind loyalty. Speaking of that, but first Mon Mothma has to go live to talk about the massacre.
Unfortunately her own men are working for the empire and have been keeping an eye on her so Luthon sends Andor in to get her out safely after her speech. She has the floor and mentions the massacre and how the Emperor is the real monster.
They shut down the broadcast and try to arrest Mon, but Andor gets her off the planet and takes her to Yavin. Things aren’t done yet.
🔥 Luthon’s Last Move — and the Kyber Reveal
Luthon finds out he’s being hunted down by Dedra by the help of his inside man who works in the empire, who tells him about the project the emperor is doing.
And how it was all a lie, they were after a specific mineral called kyber crystal, dunn dunnn.
So Luthon executes this guy and leaves to destroy his console in his store because he knows Dedra is coming. Unfortunately she comes and brings in a busted communication device he broke in season 1 and reveals she found out about him and how he doesn’t want freedom, he wants chaos and how he disgusts her.
That’s rich coming from an imperial officer. Anyways he stabs himself to try to off himself. He now gets sent to the hospital where he’s put on life support. All the while Dedra gets arrested and eventually is interrogated by Director Krennic.
🛏️ The Quietest Death: Luthon’s Goodbye
She’s framed for things she hasn’t done and is thrown under the bus for breaking the rules. Unfortunately she’s a rule breaker and turns out she’s been collecting email that was meant to go to Krennic which talks about the Death Star.
So now Krennic has to shut down anyone who knows of the Death Star. That leak cannot get out.
Also during this interrogation when he’s talking to Dedra about them going through her computer and reading all her files, he stands right behind her and takes 1 finger and pokes her in the head.
Apparently in a behind the scenes video, the actress herself was talking about that scene and said she wasn’t expecting Ben Mendelsohn (who plays Director Krennic) to poke her on top of her head.
So that shocked expression she gives in the episode, that was real.
I find it funny that here in this show Krennic is the one to be feared. He’s doing to Dedra what will happen to him from Moff Tarkin in just a few days. This just shows us that fascism doesn’t care about which rank you are, all each person cares about is power they can have.
Oh also Luthon’s assistant Kleya Marki sneaks in to the hospital disguised as a nurse and goes to shut off the life support machine which kills Luthon.
His final shot is just sad. He dies all alone in a room. No applause or honoring him. No—he gets a kiss on the forehead from Kleya Marki, she then leaves and he dies alone. It’s fitting to his character. He knew that everything he’s done—although it’s for the greater good and for the rebellion—he knew he’d never get respected or honored.
I’m not crying, you’re crying! Also in this episode we get to see flashback to how Luthon met Kleya. Turns out Luthon was an ex-Imperial officer who defected himself from the Empire and he found a little girl hiding aboard his ship so he took her in under his wing and trained her.
🧒 Found Family: Kleya’s Origin + K-2SO Reprogramming
Oh also we get to see KS-2O be reprogrammed. I’m kinda sad he’s only in the last 2 episodes. They only get to flesh out their friendship for 2 episodes.
Oh if you’re wondering what makes Andor decide to stay? Well it’s because his girlfriend Bix leaves him during the night. She leaves a recording which essentially says hey you’re needed here and I ain’t gonna allow me to be the reason you want to leave.
So she takes herself out of the picture and leaves.
⚖️ Andor Stays Behind — Because Bix Leaves
Anyways finishing up this review, Andor breaks the rules again and leaves to go save Kleya Marki because she sends out a distress call via Morse code because the Empire is locating her and plan to arrest her.
It does take some convincing on her end but she does agree to come back to Yavin with them, reluctantly of course.
He comes back with info while Kleya Marki is in med bay because she was injured. Of course as I mentioned none of the senators believe the word that comes from Andor because it was all info from Luthon. What a bunch of shit heads.
He’s grounded until General Davits Draven (who was in Rogue One) gives him a mission. Turns out a contact of Andor has been contacting them and has info to give but will only talk to Andor.
Psssst this the person Andor is talking to when we first see Andor in Rogue One. This all leads to the Rogue One like right straight into it.
🚨 Final Mission Setup: The Rogue One Handoff
Let’s see, oh yeah this Imperial officer named Lio, who’s essentially in charge of this organization of the Empire that plans and determines to snuff out anything that’s a threat to them such as “diseases.”
Take that as what you will. Also his board group always have discussions to help improve their work. Anyways one of his supervisors come in and tell him he’s here to take Lio down to the brink because the Empire is gonna arrest him.
Because he too had info on the Death Star without consent. But unlike Debra, Director Krennic does respect Lio and did tell him earlier “I can’t protect you Lio.” I guess now we see what he meant by that.
Also Lio is finishing up watching a Manifesto from a dead Imperial officer who talks about how Fascism only ever spreads and causes chaos.
“Oppression is a mask of fear.”
Anyways he asks his supervisor if he can have a moment to clear his thoughts. He leaves Lio in the room alone. He takes a seat and takes out a small hand pistol.
We then see the supervisor standing outside with 2 stormtroopers. They hear a gunshot go off in the other room. The supervisor raises his hand to tell the soldiers to not go in there and he just takes that moment to lower his head in silence.
I guess even he knew that what Lio just did was probably the better solution out of his situation. Hey, it’s either that or he faces something worse. He might be locked up for life and be forced to build a Death Star.
🔒 Dedra’s Fall, Krennic’s Power Play
We see Dedra in a cell as the lights go off and she is left to cry on her own. Oh well, this is what she gets.
And Andor puts on his Rogue One outfit as he heads to his ship to head out with KS-2O to meet his contact.
We see Director Krennic stand in his Star Destroyer as he’s looking out at an almost finished Death Star. Only piece missing is the laser part of it which we see it getting put in its spot at the beginning of Rogue One.
🥚 The Final Shot: A Child Bix Will Never Tell Him About
And the finale shot of the show is of Bix back at her farm with her newborn child. Say what now? Yeah I call this a bittersweet ending. Wanna know why?
It boils down to 2 main reasons (both revolving around Andor):
- We know Andor’s fate—he dies at the end of Rogue One. Which means he’ll never know and find out that he had a son.
- He never got to find his sister that he left when he was a child. As the director said, “life doesn’t always have a conclusion.”
Just like Luthon, he’s given up everything.
Oh last thing—if you want to hear more details on this season, this YouTuber talks about each arc and the context to specific scenes:
Anyways hope y’all enjoy. Also if there’s any newcomers to Star Wars, when you watch it in order I recommend you watch Andor before Rogue One, and Rogue One before A New Hope.
Just saying—both enrich the franchise. Please go watch this show, it’s amazing.
Anyways hope y’all enjoyed this review, till next time. Ans may the force be with you.
