Yeah it’s time for me to do an updated version of this review, so what’s this game even about?

💔 When the World Ends and So Does Your Kid

Well after a tragic accident happened where his daughter got shot by military men right when the zombie apocalypse started, Joel separated from his brother Tommy and Joel cut himself off from ever loving again.

Cue opening credits.

🧒🏻 Oh Great, Now I Gotta Babysit the Cure

Unfortunately for him one day during the apocalypse, him and his somewhat friend Tess get asked by this woman to take this girl named Ellie to this organization called the Fireflies.

Because she’s the cure to this virus, Joel is resistant and against this, but Tess agrees, unfortunately during their trip she gets bitten and has to be left behind.

Joel reluctantly agrees to take Ellie, but they need a car so they go visit the only person he knows who has a car, which is this whacko named Bill.

He’s a loner who lives in a city that he boobytrapped, anyways Bill reluctantly agrees to help them find a car engine for the car that he has to give them.

🧭 So What’s the Plan Again?

So will Joel and Ellie make it to the Fireflies? Will Joel ever open up? Will he be able to heal old wounds?

All will be revealed in the spoilers.

🔫 Gameplay Stuff: Knives, Crouching, and Stress

But first I want to talk about the gameplay, so in this game it’s very much a survival game where you will have to find ammo, items to collect to create things like bandages or specific arrows.

You will also find yourself crouching and avoiding zombies, the thing is they are blind and can only hear you, so there’s a lot of stealth in this game.

Oh if you do get caught and pinned down, it’s helpful to have a knife with you, too bad it’s hard to find those and you can only find a specific amount—oh and the knife only lasts 1 or 2 stabs against the zombie before breaking.

So you have to be resourceful.

⚠️ Spoiler Ahead: Ya’ll Been Warned⚠️

Time to spoil the 3rd act and any revelations.

So after Joel gets badly injured and ends up in a coma during the winter, Ellie has to protect him and take care of him, unfortunately for her she bumps into a friendly looking man who helps her against the undead.

But turns out he’s a cult leader and a cannibal, say what now?

Anyways she escapes, she kills his men and she almost gets r worded by him—yikes.

Luckily Joel has woken up and located Ellie and saves her.

How did he locate her? Doesn’t matter.

I recommend going to look for that clip it’s an intense clip where he interrogates 2 men who try taking him out—anyways he saves Ellie.

🧊 The End of Her Innocence (Dang.)

After Ellie kills that cult leader, this marks the end of his innocence and now she’s become more serious, while Joel is starting to open up and be more jokingly towards Ellie—oh how the tables have turned.

🏥 Joel Enters Terminator Mode at the Worst Possible Time

So they make it to the Fireflies, they both get knocked out.

Joel wakes up in a hospital bed and is told that Ellie is being prepped for surgery and will not survive since the surgery is in the brain—wait I don’t think either of these two signed up for this.

So of course Joel enters Terminator mode and takes a gun to shoot all the guards.

He then finds Ellie in the surgery room all knocked out and in a hospital gown.

He shoots the doctor but lets the nurses go, huh?

He then takes Ellie, shoots his way through more guards, makes his way to the garage where that woman who handed Ellie over to him tries to talk him out of what he’s doing.

He then shoots her, rides away with Ellie. Well, ok then.

🤥 Joel’s Big Fat Lie

When Ellie wakes up he makes up a story that the Fireflies found more people like her to experiment on so they didn’t need her anymore—Joel why would you do that? Why would you lie to her?

You know she’s gonna end up resenting you down the line, until something like idk you get your head bashed in right in front of her.

Anyways the game ends with Ellie and Joel climbing up a mountain and Ellie asks Joel to swear on his life that he told her the truth and isn’t lying to her.

He says I promise.

And she says good.

Damn Joel that’s tough but uh oh well.
