Pompeii

Pompeii: I’m excited about this one, today we’re trying something different. We’re gonna take a look at my favorite historical moments in history, granted it’s a short list but still.

Today we’re taking a look at the city of Pompeii, I have it on my bucket list to visit this town.

No we’re not reviewing the song called Pompeii, heck idk why the song is called that since they never utter the word Pompeii in the song.

So what is it that fascinates me about Pompeii? Well, it’d simply it’s the fact they built this city next to a volcano.

Well ok in their defense, it was an inactive volcano but still, unfortunately on August 24, 79, Mount Vesuvius erupted and destroyed a whole town.

It was a tragedy, for u to see on that unfaithful day on August 24th, 79. Vesuvius erupted, and tons of ash came out of the volcano as well.

Here’s the interesting part, the ash cocooned the people in a statue shell of themselves, to this day u can go visit Pompeii and u will see these ash statues of the victims, in their final agonizing resting place.

It’s kinda a horrific sight if u ask me, but also they are in multiple poses that make them seem like they are art statues u would see in art museums.

Anyways the town of Pompeii was destroyed along with its people, and what was left of the town disappeared. Until it was discovered.

Pompeii’s rediscovery began in the late 16th century with accidental discoveries during canal construction, but identification didn’t occur until the mid-18th century, with an inscription in 1763 confirming the site as Pompeii.

I highly recommend going out of y’all way to go research the city of Pompeii. I’ll let y’all know what I think of this town if I go visit it when I go to Italy.

I’m planning on going to Italy soon, Also here’s a documentary on Pompeii.

Also here are some images of the place,

Anyway hope y’all enjoyed the history lesson, till next time.
