Batman Caped Crusader: Let’s start by showing y’all the trailers shall we?
Yes, that’s right folks you saw the title correctly, this show went straight to Amazon Prime for some reason instead of Max. This kind of reminds me of that recent Spongebob Sandy Cheeks film that went straight to Netflix instead of Paramount Plus.
What’s with these IPs being sold off to other streaming owners? Enough about that I do wanna quickly mention that this series is produced by
Jj Abrams
Matt Reeves
Bruce Timms
Yeah, JJ Abrams, that name right there might be controversial, look I ain’t a JJ Abrams fan either. Like go back to my previous reviews on
Star Trek Into Darkness
Star Wars Rise of Skywalker
U will know I’m not a JJ Abrams lover, so take this from me when I say this. I actually didn’t mind his involvement in this show, his work didn’t come off that noticeable. It might have helped that Matt Reeves was involved in making this series.
Also, side note I think this series has one the eeriest intro themes I’ve seen in a while, role intro.
Told u, so what’s the plot rundown? Essentially join Batman as he faces some of his Rogues gallery such as
Penguin (who is a female in this show)
Clayface
Harley Quinn (who’s an Asian gay person in this show, idk why that got so much controversy if u ask me)
Gentleman Ghost (yes this show goes into the supernatural)
A girl kid who can suck life out of people.
onamonapia (oh wait he’s a Green Arrow villain, my bad) but what I like about his character here is since the entire time he’s wearing a mask with a Bullseye design on it, he ends up making comic book noises such as
Swish, swoosh, pow. Literally his first scene he’s in, he points his finger in a finger gun position and he says “pow”.
Two-Face (more on him later)
Corrupt cops
Side thing the controversy around this show is just dumb, here’s why. It’s because
Penguin is s female
Harley Quinn is an Asian gay lady who’s in live with Detective Montoya
Commissioner Gordon is black
His daughter is black
Ok here’s my 2 take on this, so what? It doesn’t matter. What matters is if they can write a good story for the series. Doesn’t matter your ethnicity, yeah I’ll never understand fan bases.
“Oh but but u see it’s because of the time period this show takes place in, which is in like the 1970s, so it doesn’t make sense to have Harley Quinn be an openly gay person” Bruh, this is a Batman-related property. If you’re looking for realism and authenticity, then ur looking in the wrong franchise, again this is Batman!
Also if we’re really gonna nitpick inaccuracy for the time period, well how about the fact Batman has computer technology that doesn’t exist in this time period.
This double standards is getting on my nerves, no longer can people just enjoy a show or film for what it is. Now it’s oh what diversity agenda does this have? Seriously people? It’s media! Get loose and just enjoy it!
Anyway that’s all I’ll say about the show without spoiling it, we need to get into spoilers to discuss some stuff, like Two-Face.
One other another note I should warn y’all that this show is a bit mature, it can get very violent in this show so fair warning.
Also Batman in this show can give 2 F’s about Alfred. He keeps calling him in this show Mr. Pennyworth, thank u Mr. Pennysorth, enough Mr. Pennyworth, shut up Mr. Pennyworth.
Wow, what a Bitch, Alfred raised u boy and this is how u treat him? PFT u don’t even get the decency of being titled by ur first name.
So let’s get the rating out of the way so we can get into some mild spoilers, overall yeah I actually found myself enjoying this series.
The only issue I will say I had was, that Batman essentially wasn’t the best in this series. He failed to stop Penguin from blowing up the GCPD. Heck, he tosses her straight towards her machine that will blow it up.
Because that’s the smart thing to do, he fails to save Harley Quinn when she reveals herself to be evil, small spoilers. She has kidnapped rich people and forced them to give up their money to her.
Batman gets suspicious, and so does Gordon’s daughter who is friends with Ms. Quinnzel, so they head to her mansion. Batman gets captured very easily.
As Harley is escaping with her butler in her car while setting her house to explode, she sees that Barbra Gordon’s car is nearby so she knows she’s there.
So she heads back to save her, unfortunately, the place starts crumbling, they are both hanging off the ledge into the ocean and Batman is using his brute strength to pull them up, dude use ur grapple!
Because guess what? Harley’s legs go and say I ain’t going to Arkham, and Batman allows her to fall into the ocean while saving Barbara. Uh-huh, good job Batman.
Oh lastly I do think the tone of the show changed when they dived into the supernatural elements in this series, why did they bring in the supernatural? So I’ll give Batman Caped Crusader a solid 8/10. Warning spoilers ahead y’all been warned ⚠️.
____________________________________________________
Time to spoil the 3rd act and any revelations, so how does Two-Face become Two-Face in this show? Glad y’all asked, so throughout this show he’s been trying to become mayor, he’s been failing.
So some mob boss comes to help him out, u know I scratch ur back and u scratch mine, type of deal. Also, the corrupt cops work for this mobster, the 2 most corrupt cops in this show are 2 guys named Harvey Bullock and Arnold Flass.
When I say they are corrupt I do mean they are corrupt, this might be the most evilest version of Harvey Bullock we’ve seen on screen, I think I prefer the Gotham Show version of him because he’s a good guy.
This show here has no moral Grey when it comes to corruption, just black and white.
I mean these 2 let out Firefly who goes by Firebug (if u ask me that’s a stupid name) to lure out Batman so they can arrest him.
When they fail and after the Firebug burns up an apartment, the 2 of them shoot the guy to death and they get rewarded by the head Chief to be promoted as high-ranked officers.
Shit talk about a corrupt police force, also throughout this show the 2 of them are sexist towards Montoya, like I said morally black and morally white, no in between.
Moving on, so the mob boss asks Dent to drop a court Cass he’s doing, but he refuses to because he wants to be a good man and do good by Gotham City.
So he refuses to back down and sentences the guy to prison, this gets the mob unhappy so when Dent goes to the restroom. One of the guy’s goons comes out of a stall and throws a cup of acid on his face, yikes.
So Bruce tries to take Dent out to dinner to brighten him up, but this doesn’t work. In fact, he almost attacks someone.
So Dent eventually goes on a murder spree and goes and locates then kills everyone who was involved with the mafia boss who turned him into Two-Face.
So now he’s taking actions into his own hands, before he can kill the mafia boss at his home and maybe his child, Batman comes and drops Dent.
Dent is arrested, but Barbra wants to help him out. Transfer him to a court so he goes in front of court and testifies in front of the court of what happened, who did this to him and all that?
So Barbara who has handcuffed herself to Dent makes it to the docks where Gordon and Batman meet them.
Unfortunately, Bullock and Arnold show up along with henchmen to shoot and kill Dent, but Dent does die. He gets shot in the chest and does bleed out in Barbara’s arms. Bstman corners Arnold by pinning him against a wall.
Arnold dares to say I’m a decorated cop, then Batman takes his gun and shoots around Arnold. Wow, this Batman is edgy. Any other Batman would just toss that gun away, not use it.
Anyway show ends here with Dent dead, oh and Batman finally calls Alfred by his first name, finally some progress has happened. Then he goes after the mafia boss who did this to Dent, ending on a happy note. Also, the end credits scene hints at Joker appearing in season 2, he’s testing his laughing gas on some tied-up victims.
Dunn dunn dunn! The end, anyway I hope y’all enjoyed this review.
