Saving Bikini Bottom The Sandy Cheeks Movie: Let’s start by showing y’all the trailers shall we?

Oh goodie, another Spongebob film, except the gimic for this one is this one is on Netflix for some reason…instead of Paramount Plus.

Y’all should be ashamed over at those companies, Stephen Hillenburg is probably rolling in his grave right now.

Also if y’all wondering why the animation looks this bad? Like why is everything so bright and shiny? It boils down to 2 issues.

1. The budget is lower
2. According to one of the animators, they said and I quote “This is my first time animating anything” Well enough said.

Side note, do u find it funny that the name of this film is Saving Bikini Bottom The Sandy Cheeks Movie? The Sandy Cheeks part is extremely small on the poster. I mean the title is SAVING BIKINI BOTTOM The Sandy Cheeks Movie.

So Sandy Cheeks has always been my favorite character in Spongebob Squarepants, so how does this film handle the character? Ohhhhhh where do we even start with?

It’s awful, this film doesn’t treat these 2 characters with any justice, Spongebob has zero brain cells left. Sandy is just now a caricature.

It seems the writers think the only way to write Sandy in modern-day Spongebob is by having her always saying she’s a scientist and from Texas. Even though that was never a character trait about her in the original Spongebob series.

Yes she is a scientist and yes she’s from Texas but she never brought it up every single moment, she was more of a tomboy in the early seasons. Her whole persona resolved around her being smart and figuring out situations.

Where’s “I’m a scientist” in any of that? So that’s where we are with Sandy, her personality devolved into being a caricature.

Ok, hot take but can Nickelodeon plz just kill off this franchise? Plz. Also half of the original fan base can’t take this anymore.

So what’s the rundown I bet y’all are asking? So in this film, the Bikini Bottom is taken away by a mad scientist who works at an aquarium.

One of the scientists is played by an actor named Matty Cardarople, he’s appeard in

Stranger Things seasons 2 and 3.

In all those, he always plays this Unenthusiastic nerd guy, heck let’s take a look at his IMDB page shall we? According to his IMDB, it says “Usually typecast as nerds or individuals with Socially awkward traits illustrating American kitsch culture”.

Yeah, u know ur doing something wrong when that’s the description of your IMDB page, keep an eye out for this guy btw. He always appears as a side character or a 1 off character in these shows/films.

Anyways the main villain, yeah what’s the character’s name who is played by Wanda Sykes? Easy her name is Sue Nahme, really? Sue Nahme? Sure. As in tsunami? Fwaqk right off u Netflix film.

Whats her motivation? Simple, she had a weird fetishist as a kid of grabbing ocean life but it would die in her hands. So now she wants to clone Spongebob and the gang, make them waterproof, and sell them to kids, huh?

Luckily Spongebob and Sandy didn’t get captured and now must go save their friends and the Bikini Bottom, but they first must go get the help of Sandy’s relatives who live in Texas.

BTW here’s family is just here to be running gags, there’s no fleshing out. Just comedy, if u find any of this funny.

Also, Sykes has a plan to make copies of Spongebob and send him out to multiple places so she can make money, yes the idea of Spongebob being multiplied and being sent out to be a money cash cow isn’t lost on me.

But it sure is he’ll lost on Nickelodeon, Paramount and Netflix that’s for sure.

Oh sorry my bad I meant the middle of a plain-vacant desert with a snake because I guess that’s what the budget allowed them to film.

So they recruit her family after Sandy gets bitten by a rattle snake cowboy, where we see Sandy inflate. Uhhhhhh did someone who make this have a fetish?

Also cue a stupid montage I don’t have, of Spongebob being treated as the butt end of the joke throughout this film, yeah remember when this series would make Squidward the butt end of the jokes/physical pain comedy?

Also since Patrick isn’t here, Spongebob has been dumbed down even more, also it’s confirmed in this film that Spongebob feels pain, even though in early Spongebob Squarepants it was confirmed he doesn’t feel pain.

Well since he’s not here, nor is Patrick. So now Spongebob has become the butt end of the joke.

Well it’s official, at least I can cram this and Kamp Koral together and the Patrick show and not consider these Canon to the main Spongebob series. Since these break Canon anyways.

His scenes amount to him making noises in each scene of dialog. Yeah great writing, if this is the type of writers Hollywood keeps hiring, yeah can they fire them?

Also, no shocker here but Spongebob Squarepants is 100 times dumber in this film than he has ever been, actually scratch that. Modern-day Spongebob Squarepants has unfortunately been stupid.

The jokes in Spongebob sucks these days, the jokes use to appeal to any ages of people. Now the comedy is aimed at ages dead to zero, it says a lot when now there’s an age limit on the comedy in Spongebob!

So better way to put it, Spongebob Squarepants is no longer a character. He’s now a caricature.

Heck in this film he’s tickling children’s feet in a pool, gross.

Also, the jokes suck, just to give u an idea of what I’m talking about let’s look at Spongebob Squarepants response is when the Bikini Bottom and the entire folks have been stollen.

“Streaming videos on demand! I cannot demand them anymore!” So uh yeah funny? No wait this isn’t funny, what am I even talking about.

Also, there’s that stupid “My leg!” Gag, it happens 3 times in this film, because I guess they add officially running out of ideas.

One last thing before I spoil the most absurd part of this film, I must mention that the animation in this film just feels kinda bland.

Not shocking at all since the budget seems low for this film.

That’s the best way I can describe the animation, btw The film is 3D animated, so now let’s get the rating out of the way. This is gonna get a 0/10 for me.

To call this the worst Spongebob movie might be an understatement, this is just an abysmal film. Heck, I’ve seen fans and non-fans universally hate this film.

Even the fans who support the modern-day Spongebob hate this film. That should say a lot.

It’s just an uneventful film, but when we get to that absurd plot twist near the end with the horrendous CGI, it officially made the film laughable bad, anyways warning spoilers ahead y’all been warned ⚠️.

Time to spoil the 3rd act and any revelations, so remember that horrible scene I alluded to? So the stupid plot twist revolves around the fact it turns out our main villain turns out Is a robot, sighhhhhh. What?

Yeah, our female baddie is a robot, we then get a backstory where we see her heading to bed, but what we get is horrendous. We get a horribly CGI head of the actress on a small robot body. Wow, u did this actress dirty.

Wait who is the actress anyway, let me check. Holy shite Wanda Sykes? Y’all did her dirty in this film, so anyway Sandy and Spongebob make their way to her aquarium and stop her.

Unfortunately Spongebob gets multiplied into small versions of himself, just to be clumped back together! Also Wanda Sykes reveals to everyone she took Sandy’s research and copied what she’s done, which makes Sandy’s friends sad and think she betrayed them even though she didn’t even know about any of this.

Huh? TRY MAKING SENSE OF ANY OF THAT!

In a final battle against robot Sykes, robot Sykes’s head flies off into her mutated fish’s mouth because why not? Also, the glass dome is starting to Crack, luckily Sandy’s family shows up, so she combines both families of hers together to save Bikini Bottom from breaking.

Huh, so sis Vin Diesel wrote this part of the script?

Anyways The Bikini bottom and the folks, yayy I guess. Idk I’m just done I’m done, I don’t feel anything for this franchise anymore except for secondhand embarrassment.

Anyway I hope y’all enjoyed this review, I sure as heck didn’t have fun watching it.
