Shrek 2: ohhhhh man I cannot wait to dive into this review I’ve been excited about this one…I know I might get a few people mad but I prefer Shrek 2 over Shrek 1….because Shrek 2 is better, it takes the first one and improves and adds on it….yeah I’m probably gonna get hate for that lolo, but it’s true I prefer this film over Shrek 1…yeah I know I’ll probably get much hate for this lolo….but who freaking cares

Also warning ⚠️, just because I’m reviewing a kid’s film does not mean this review is meant for kids, there are cuss words in here so I thought I’d warn y’all now.

Let’s first get the rating out of the way so we can get into spoilers, overall I absolutely love this film so much in fact I consider it better than the first Shrek film.

So what’s the rundown bet y’all asking? Well, Sherk and Fionna are asked to go back to her home in the land of Far Far Away, so her father the king, and mother the queen can meet Ahrek.

At first, he’s reluctant to go so they can see an ogre, they go there in a carriage and after a long ride with Donkey saying she we there yet?

They get to the castle, and Fionas mother doesn’t mind that Fionas husband is an ogre. She’s being nice but her father is horrified, including half the people standing there at the celebration.

That night at dinner they both break out into an argument, and they all go to bed early, Fiona meets her Fairy Godmother who appears to her, she’s horrified when she sees Shrek but she gives Fiona a card for her to call her if she needs anything.

That night her father goes out onto his balcony and sees the Fairy Godmother in a carriage with her son Prince Charming, he’s mad that Fiona wasn’t at the tower when he got there. Speaking of here that opening scene where he is riding to the tower.

His mother tells Harold the king (right that’s his name) that Prince Charming and Fiona will her married together, also this whole anonymous conversation leads to a funny joke where they stop at a burritos fast food restaurant and get an order of burritos.

So then Harold goes to a bar where there are suspicious criminals such as Hook, there at the bar is the bartender who’s a Trans woman, man this film was ahead of its time.

He’s there to meet this hunter he can hire to kill Shrek, who’s this mysterious killer? Spoilers it’s Puss In Boots (voiced by Antonio Banderas).

That night Shrek is having trouble sleeping and he gets out of bed while this gorgeous music plays in the background.

This is making me feel emotional.

Anyway Harold knocks on the door and asks Shrek to go hunting with him In the morning, but it’s a trap. He goes the next day and Puss In Boots shows up and tries to kill him, but ends up joining Shrek.

The 3 of them decide to go visit the Fairy Godmother to ask for advice on how to not let Fiona hate him. They get to her business where she doesn’t want anything to do with him because in her words ogres don’t live happily ever after.

Wow what a douchbag, so the 3 of them decide to go looking through her positions for a true love kiss position, Puss can grab it for them because it’s all the way on the top of the shelf.

They then have to escape the guards who show up and attack.

Yeah, I just love the soundtrack in this film, they escape after casting some damage by knocking over positions that turn the guards into creatures.

They make it to the forest, so will Shrek take this position? Will it do anything for him? Will he stop the Fairy Godmother? Will Charming marry Fiona? All will be revealed in spoilers.

So without further a due let’s get into the review shall we, but first the rating then the spoilers.

Overall I absolutely love this film, I find myself going back to rewatch this multiple times. Overall I’ll give Shrek 2 a solid 10/10, warning spoilers ahead y’all been warned ⚠️.

Time to spoil the 3rd act and any revelations, so Shrek turn into a human, Donkey turn into a horse, and somehow Fiona turn into a human?

He tries to make his way to Fiona, unfortunately, Fairy Godmother uses this to her advanced by tricking Fiona that Prince Charming is Shrek.

Uh oh, Shrek now has to save Fiona. The wedding is about to start. It’s gonna be the biggest wedding ever, live on TV at the castle.

So Shrek and Donkey and Puss In Boots who are now locked in a tower have to escape, luckily Pinocchio and Gingy show up to save them.

Now they have to figure out a way to get to the castle, well it’s time to go visit the Muffin Man. He can make them a giant Gingerbread Man for them to ride.

It’s alive! Yeah, they created a giant Gingerbread Man who walks through the whole town to make its way to the castle.

This is all happening while Charming and Fiona are dancing. And Fairy Godmother is singing on stage, to the song “I Need a Hero!”

So the gang gets into the tower, but unfortunately, big gingys arms get torn off and he falls into the river, so he’s left behind.

They interrupt the wedding (again), and the Godmother is angry and tells Harold, that u were supposed to give her the love potion, which he says well I guess I gave them the wrong tea.

Charming tosses his mother the wand and she says “I told u ogres don’t live happily ever after!” She then shoots a spell at them but Harold jumps in the way and it bounces off his armor and deflects back to the Godmother. Which kills her by turning her into bubbles that pop.

Good riddance, but what about Harold? Well, the spell turned him back into what he was originally. Turns out he used to be a frog, say whaaaaaat!? Now he’s been turned into a frog.

Guess that’s the thing the Godmother did for him all those years ago, also really he had no room to judge Shrek if he was a freaking frog this entire time!.

But this film ends with him giving them his blessing and then Puss In Boots and Donkey go on stage and sing the song “Livin LA Vida Loca”

Also, there’s the soundtrack of it y’all also just want to listen to the soundtrack version of the song.

I absolutely love this ending, glad they have Puss In Boots as apart of the team.

The end, I hope y’all enjoyed this review. Also, I’m glad I now reviewed the first 2 Shrek movies because guess what came out the other day? Our first teaser for Shrek 5 which isn’t coming out until Christmas 2026.

Firstly why release a teaser now if the film isn’t releasing for essentially close to another 2 years? Secondly, this teaser has been getting backlash because they changed the character designs, yep that’s right here y’all go.
