The Hobbit The Desolation of Smaug: Let’s start by showing y’all the trailers shall we?
Ohhhhhhh boy I’m probably gonna get downvoted for my opinion on this franchise but here we got, got to be honest.
As stated before I also love this film, yes yes plz get all ur complaining fine but hear me out.
Also, this is just my opinion, don’t allow my opinion to hurt the thing u love the most, not my goal for that to happen.
Also maybe I’m a bitter person who’s biased because apparently Tolkien didn’t like the Dune books, me personally I’m more a fan of Dune. Yet to read the books, I’m actually planning on listening to the audiobook once I finish a book I started reading.
But mainly I got into Dune because of the new films, so I can see myself liking the books. Unless this comment ages horribly and I come back after I read the books and I say actually nah the books are shite.
Well, u will know because I will write a review on them as well.
But first, what’s the rundown y’all are asking?
In this continuation our gang finds themselves split up once again. Gandalf heads out to go meet Radagast the brown, to head to the abandoned fortress, while our team finds themselves in a dark forest filled with giant spiders.
After being quote on quote saved by Legolas and his sister Tauriel who’s not even in the books, yes I know, she becomes the lover of Kili.
Anyways they get taken to Mirkwood’s Woodland where their father who’s the king whose name is
Thranduil. He’s a dick, he doesn’t care about them. Thorin is mad at him because where was he and his team when he and his men were being attacked?
What’s worse Is Thranduil wants some gem that’s in the mines but he ain’t going back there because he encountered the dragon named Smaug (played by Benedict Cumberbatch) also the dragon deformed the elf.
So the team eventually escapes thanks to Bilbo thinking cleverly by having them escape his barrels
Clearly Bilbo didn’t think this one through, anyways during the escape down the river they get attacked by Orks, and the elves come to help.
Kili gets shot by an ork arrow which is poisoned so he’s gonna die.
So this makes Tauriel want to go help them, the dwarves make it to a small town where they meet this noble fisherman named The Bard (played by Luke Evens) he refuses to help them at first because he doesn’t want to bring any trouble or war to this town.
Oh and their town king is named (idk let’s just call him generic king) along with his right-hand goon named Alfrid (they aren’t important but they are a tiny threat).
So the dwarves head out, well some do while a few decide to take Kili back to the bards’ house because h3s about to die.
The others make it up to the mountain, Bilbo can open the doors because he uses his mind. Thorin thought the prophecy said it could only open before the sun went down.
Not during sundown, but Bilbo figures that out. Anyways they force him to go in first where Bilbo encounters Smaug.
Will they find what they want? Which Is this crystal ball that makes people go crazy after. After a while, it gave Thorin’s father a sickness called Dragon Fever.
This sickness is corruption, anyways will the town be safe? Also where is Gandalf? What happened to him? All will be revealed. But first the rating.
Overall I do love this film, I found some of the scenes funny, loved the dragon. He’s intimidating, loved the soundtrack.
Also, I still don’t think this franchise is for me, but hey this is one man’s opinion.
So I’ll give this film a solid 8/10, warning spoilers ahead y’all been warned ⚠️.
____________________________________________________
Time to spoil the 3rd act, so come the third act, the Bard tries to help Kili but nothing is working, just then Tauriel shows up and uses herbs and magical elf chants.
This cures him, anwyaa back to Bilbo he’s trying to keep Smaug distracted as he steals the orb but he’s about to be attacked and eaten. The dwarves come in and help him out, but now they have to escape and hide while avoiding Smaug and his flames.
They come up with a plan to use melted gold and forge a giant statue of the original dwarves king statue to distract Smaug, then the statue will melt into molten gold and drown him, is the plan.
The film ends with the Bard being locked up in prison because the king is nuts and has no reason to do this, luckily this prison is located on a bridge over the lake, where he will use a bedsheet rope to throw around the king’s chest while he’s on his boat In the next film.
To use him to pull the bars off, anyways the final shot of this film is of Smaug breaking out and saying he is fire and he is dead, while Bilbo looks out and says, what have we done?
The end, Anyways I hope y’all either enjoyed this review or were open-minded minded to understand my perspective, anyways catch y’all next time. Sorry for this one being controversial.
