The Hobbit an Unexpected Journey

The Hobbit an Unexpected Journey: Let’s start by showing y’all the trailers shall we?

Ohhhhhhh boy I’m probably gonna get downvoted for my opinion on this franchise but here we got, got to be honest.

Hot take I prefer the Hobbit 1 and 2 over LOTR, yes yes I know time to leave this hater. This non-LOTR lover, ur right I am not a LOTR lover at all.

Also, this is just my opinion, don’t allow my opinion to hurt the thing u love the most, not my goal for that to happen.

Also maybe I’m a bitter person who’s biased because apparently Tolkien didn’t like the Dune books, me personally I’m more a fan of Dune. Yet to read the books, I’m actually planning on listening to the audiobook once I finish a book I started reading.

But mainly I got into Dune because of the new films, so I can see myself liking the books. Unless this comment ages horribly and I come back after I read the books and I say actually nah the books are shite.

Well, u will know because I will write a review on them as well.

Also one thing I wanna point out I really like that the first trailer came out 1 full year before the film was released. The film was released in December 2012 and this trailer was released in December 2011. Now these days trailers don’t release 1 year later.

I will say and admit I do find it stupid that they stretched this out to be 3 movies when the Hobbit book is only 1 book. Yeah yikes.

So what’s the plot rundown? In this film Gandalf tries to recruit Bilbo (played by Martin Freeman) he refuses to at first because he’s a Hobbit. But then that night a whole group of Dawrfs break into his house without his permission and start eating his food, their names are (along with who specifically in the ranks are)

Balin

A wise and loyal leader of the Dwarves who accompanied Thorin Oakenshield on their quest to reclaim Erebor.

Bifur

A cousin of Bofur and Bombur. He was an adventurer who fought in the Battle of Azanulbizar.

Dwalin

The first dwarf to arrive at Bilbo’s house. He was also the brother of Balin.

Glóin

A member of Thorin’s company, Glóin was one of the twelve dwarves who accompanied Thorin Oakenshield and Bilbo Baggins on their quest to reclaim Erebor from the dragon Smaug.

Kili

Kili is one of the 13 dwarves who accompany Thorin Oakenshield on his quest to reclaim Erebor.

Oin

One of the 13 dwarves who set out to retake Erebor.

Bombur

The fattest dwarf in Thorin’s company.

Dori

Dori is the eldest brother of Ori and Nori and one of the 13 Dwarves who accompany Bilbo Baggins on his quest to reclaim the Lonely Mountain from the dragon Smaug.

Ori

One of the twelve Dwarves who accompanied Thorin and Bilbo to Moria. He was also a remote kinsman of Thorin Oakenshield.

Fili

A skilled fighter and the nephew of Thorin Oakenshield.

Nori

He is a member of Thorin’s company of thirteen Dwarves who accompanied Bilbo Baggins on the Quest for Erebor.

Here’s the entire clip, enjoy because I sure as heck did.

“Blunt the knives, bend the forks!”

Then Thorin who’s in charge shows up, he’s grumpy and doesn’t want Bilbo to join along but Gandalf does. The next day they head out, on their adventure to go back and take back The Loonley Mountains (it’s where the dwarves lived until the Orks led by the head Ork named Azog the Defiler.

Attacked them and killed most of them off, Thorin did cut off Azog’s hand and thought that killed him somehow because he thinks he’s dead (spoilers he ain’t).

Anyways during the trip, they encounter Radagast the brown, who’s this wizard who lives in the forest and is a lover of animals. He gives Gandalf this sword called the Morgul-blade.

Where he found it at this haunted evil fortress that’s abonded yet it isn’t because there are evil spirits (spoilers these spirits are called Morguls (they down the line become the Nazguls).

So the team heads to Rivendell where Gandalf sits down with the White Council which consists of

Lady Galadriel (played by Cate Blanchett)

Saruman (played by Christopher Lee) (yes before he turned crazy/evil)

Elrond (played by Hugo Weaven)

He shows them the Morgul-blade

BTW yes this part is also my favorite part of the soundtrack.

So now they have to head into the mountains which are filled with Goblins led by the goblin king, while the dwarves are tied up. Bilbo encounters Gollum.

Will our team make it out alive? All will be revealed, but first the spoilers.

Overall I loved this film, yeah I know get ur pitchforks our booo me yeah yeah I know, but this is my opinion. The only issue is the CGI can eventually look outdated because that’s the problem with CGI. Except for Pirates Of The Caribbean, that CGI is amazing.

Also, this Trilogy uses way too much CGI so that’s an issue.

Also, I still don’t think this franchise is for me, but hey this is one man’s opinion.

So overall I’ll give this film a solid 8/10, warning spoilers ahead y’all been warned ⚠️.

Time to spoil the 3rd act, so come the third act when they make it out of the mountains, after Frodo escapes Gollum by tricking him with a game of Guess What’s in my Pocket.

They make their way down the hill to a cliff where the Orks show up, Azog shoes himself with a blade replacing his hand. Thorin is shocked to see him alive.

Don’t ask me how, all he did was cut his arm off. Don’t know how he thought he died, anyways film ends with them being cornered and about to fall off the cliff. But just then the eagles come to save them, so they fly off to a random tall rock looking over at Loonley Mountain down in the distance.

So they land on there. Thorin gives Bilbo a hug for coming up with a plan to get them out of there. Then the film ends with them looking at the Loonley Mountains in the distance, we cut to the inside of the mountain where there are piles of gold.

We then see a dragon’s eye pop out under the gold. It’s Smaug, and his eye opens.

In the end, Anyways I hope y’all either enjoyed this review or were open-minded minded to understand my perspective, anyways catch y’all next time. Sorry for this one being controversial.
