Lord Of The Rings The Fellowship Of The Ring: Let’s start by showing y’all the trailers shall we?
Ohhhhhhh boy I’m probably gonna get downvoted for my opinion on this franchise but here we got, got to be honest.
Ok, here it goes. I’m not a fan of the LOTR franchise, yeah I said it. Probably gonna get booed, but hear me out. Also, this is just my opinion, don’t allow my opinion to hurt the thing u love the most, not my goal for that to happen.
Also maybe I’m a bitter person who’s biased because apparently Tolkien didn’t like the Dune books, me personally I’m more a fan of Dune. Yet to read the books, I’m actually planning on listening to the audiobook once I finish a book I started reading.
But mainly I got into Dune because of the new films, so I can see myself liking the books. Unless this comment ages horribly and I come back after I read the books and I say actually nah the books are shite.
Well, u will know because I will write a review on them as well.
The issue I have with this series is the film franchise can be boiled down to this description, a group of middle-aged men just walk and walk and talk and talk and talk and walk and walk and talk and talk and walk and walk some more.
Even on paper that sounds boring, keep in mind that’s 3 films, yes I know there are action scenes and I’ll give u this. The action scenes are dope.
Also, I believe Tolkien shot himself in the foot by adding the flying eagles into this franchise because it just brings up the question of then why the heck didn’t they just ride them to the mountain and save months on foot. It’s dumb.
If anyone says oh oh it’s because the Eagles could easily get corrupt and easily be seen by Sauron. Yeah yeah so tell me something then why this entire time for the last several decades while Bilbo has had the ring? How’s it Sauron not been able to sense him? See that’s another issue.
I’ll do y’all one better though, why couldn’t Sauron sense Gollum every time he put the ring on? Huh, why couldn’t he sense where he is? Yet again when Frodo puts it on, the Nazguls senses start tingling.
Am I just gonna point out issues? Heck no, mainly because that’s the only other issue I can think of. I will say.
I do love the casting, they are perfect. I love the use of practical effects over CGI.
Love the soundtrack, it is absolutely gorgeous.
I’ll share with y’all some of my favorite soundtracks from this film.
No, that’s it, that’s all the soundtrack I really love. So what’s the plot rundown y’all are asking?
Gandalf goes to The Shire to recruit Frodo, btw Bilbo is going to retire. Maybe go live with the Elves. He leaves Gandalf his gold ring (the one ring to rule them all made by Sauron during the war).
Along with Frodo his friend Sam, along with Pippin and Merry join along.
Gandalf splits up and meets them at Rivendell, on the way the 4 of them encounter Nazguls, the ringwraiths, and they get saved by a guy named Aragorn.
So they make it to Rivendell where they meet Elrond (played by Hugo Weaven).
Lady Galadriel (played by Cate Blanchett)
Arwin (Elronds daughter, and soon to be Aragorns lover)
He along with Gandalf created The Fellowship Of The Ring, which consists of a team of
Frodo
Sam
Pippin
Merry
Aragorn
Gandalf
Legolas (played by Orlando Bloom)
Boromir (played by Sean Bean, so u know he’s gonna die)
Gimli (a dwarf, played by John Rhys-Davies, yes Sallah from Indiana Jones)
So they go on an adventure to take the ring to Mount Doom to toss it into the pit of fire to destroy it, but they have to watch out for the bad guys which consist of
Saruman The White (played by Christopher Lee, may he rest in peace)
Orks
Nazgul
The Eye Of Sauron
Also, this ring if it’s worn it lures the Nazgul also jt corrupts anyone, so will they destroy the ring?
All will be revealed in spoilers, but first the rating. Overall eh, yeah that’s the common opinion I have with this Trilogy, unfortunately, just eh. It ain’t for me. As stated I do find the casting to be great and the music to be great but besides that it’s just eh. But I’ll be fair.
Also, don’t take this the wrong way, I’m not even saying these films are bad, not far from it. This series has had an impact on fantasy films.
I’m just saying these films are just not for me, so plz don’t take it personally. U like whatever u want to like, I ain’t gonna judge.
Also, I have massive respect for this franchise because without the books we’d never have gotten
Game Of Thrones
D&D
Let’s face it, those 2 IPs have LOTR to thank. LOTR walked so Game Of Thrones and D&D can run.
So I’ll give this film a solid 5/10, warning spoilers ahead y’all been warned ⚠️.
____________________________________________________
Time to spoil the 3rd act, so come the third act the gang goes through the dwarf’s mines and they encounter this demonic flame demon which Gandalf holds off. He causes a bridge to collapse with the demon, but he gets ahold of Gandalf so he falls with him. Womp womp.
The gang leave and find themselves in a forest, Boromir tries to grab the ring from Frodo because he’s gone crazy and wants it.
Frodo splits up, sam tries to follow. The Orks find their way to them and attack the gang. This ends with Boromir being shot in the chest with arrows.
This of course leads to his death of course, told y’all. It’s like somewhere in Sean Beans’ contract he has it every character he plays must die off.
Anyway film ends with Sam and Frodo going on their own on a boat. We’ll Frodo tries to leave Sam behind but Sam is stubborn and tries to get into the water to catch up to Frodo in the boat.
Undoubtedly Sam can’t swim so Frodo saves Sam, so now they go together. While the B team heads out on their own. Hoping to catch up to Frodo and Sam.
In the end, Anyways I hope y’all either enjoyed this review or were open-minded minded to understand my perspective, anyways catch y’all next time. Sorry for this one being controversial.
