Lord Of The Rings The Battle Of Two Towers: Let’s start by showing y’all the trailers shall we?
Ohhhhhhh boy I’m probably gonna get downvoted for my opinion on this franchise but here we got, got to be honest.
Ok, here it goes. I’m not a fan of the LOTR franchise, yeah I said it. Probably gonna get booed, but hear me out. Also, this is just my opinion, don’t allow my opinion to hurt the thing u love the most, not my goal for that to happen.
Also maybe I’m a bitter person who’s biased because apparently Tolkien didn’t like the Dune books, me personally I’m more a fan of Dune. Yet to read the books, I’m actually planning on listening to the audiobook once I finish a book I started reading.
But mainly I got into Dune because of the new films, so I can see myself liking the books. Unless this comment ages horribly and I come back after I read the books and I say actually nah the books are shite.
Well, u will know because I will write a review on them as well.
The issue I have with this series is the film franchise can be boiled down to this description, a group of middle-aged men just walk and walk and talk and talk and talk and walk and walk and talk and talk and walk and walk some more.
Even on paper that sounds boring, keep in mind that’s 3 films, yes I know there are action scenes and I’ll give u this. The action scenes are dope.
I do love the casting, they are perfect. I love the use of practical effects over CGI.
Love the soundtrack, it is absolutely gorgeous.
I’ll share with y’all some of my favorite soundtracks from this film.
Again that’s it for the soundtrack I love, so what’s the rundown y’all are wondering? Continuing off the first film, Sam and Frodo encounter Gollum (voiced by Andy Serkis) and demand he helps them take them to Mordor since he knows the way.
He’s after the ring because he’s essentially a drug addict, also Gandalf comes back to life this time as Gandalf The White. He and Aragorn and the others head to Rohan’s Capital where they find the king whose name is Theoden is being corrupt and mind controlled by his right-hand man named Wormtongue.
With a name like that I’m surprised he didn’t turn evil before, they save Theoden, and he joins the team after having buried his dead son.
The Orks come and they have to stand their position to save the castle, all while Frodo, Sam, and Gollum get taken by this guy named Faramir and his men, will Frodo and the team escape?
Also, both Pippin and Merry are alone and encounter giant tree creatures who they take Merry and Pippin to where Saruman base is, which is located at Isengard.
Also, Gollum gets rid of his Gollum side and brings out Sméagol, by telling Gollum who is his split personality. To leave and never come back, it works for now. U will see.
So will they stop Saruman? Will the team make it to Mount Doom? All will be revealed kinda in spoilers.
But first the rating, overall yeah idk I still don’t care, the stakes are rising but I’m just sitting here thinking eh ok then. The only character I’m really liking is Gollum, I find him to be fascinating. Heck spoilers here for 3rd film we get an opening scene showing us the backstory of Sméagol. Turns out he murdered his friend when they both discovered the ring during a fishing trip and they both wanted the ring.
Over the years Sméagol started becoming deformed as the Gollum we all know and loathe, he started to go live in caves and eat fish raw.
Why did I mention this here? Idk I wanted to, also I’ll be fair.
Also, don’t take this the wrong way, I’m not even saying these films are bad, not far from it. This series has had an impact on fantasy films.
I’m just saying these films are just not for me, so plz don’t take it personally. U like whatever u want to like, I ain’t gonna judge.
Also, I have massive respect for this franchise because without the books we’d never have gotten
Game Of Thrones
D&D
Let’s face it, those 2 IPs have LOTR to thank. LOTR walked so Game Of Thrones and D&D can run.
So with that said I’ll give this film a solid 5/10, warning spoilers ahead y’all been warned ⚠️.
____________________________________________________
Time to spoil the 3rd act, so come the third act the battle at the castle kinda goes poorly, they do stop the Orks but at what cost? Most of the guards get killed off.
So in a way they lose, but the war ain’t over yet. They might have lost the fight but the war has yet to come, oh as for Frodo, Sam, and Gollum? They are let loose by Faramir when the Nazguls come and attack with their dragons.
So the 3 head out into the forest where Sméagol has a conversation with himself behind a tree, yes that’s right Gollum has returned.
Uh oh, so he plans to split both Sam and Frodo apart so he can get Frodo killed separately then steal the ring, dunn dunn dunnn!
In the end, Anyways I hope y’all either enjoyed this review or were open-minded minded to understand my perspective, anyways catch y’all next time. Sorry for this one being controversial.
