Creature Commandos: Let’s start off with showing y’all the trailers shall we?

Before we get too far I just want to quickly clarify the confusion. This is technically the first content in James Gunn’s DCU, however, this show is connected to Suicide Squad 2021 and Peacemaker.

Which those 2 were in the DCEU, so James Gunn is planning on keeping some DCEU stuff canon. So if u look at it technically Suicide Squad 2021 and Peacemaker are the first DCU content.

BTW major wanting, this series tackles some graphic things such as sex, necrophilia (kinda), tons of gore like graphic gore, cussing tons of cussing, child endangerment (meaning children being killed), some slight political issues (very minor but still thought I’d mention it), plus this show gets sad near the end of this series. Thought I’d warn y’all.

BTW the plot summary of this show is Amanda Waller puts together a group of monsters led by Rick Flags Sr. To head to Romania to protect their princess from being assassinated by a sorcerer. That’s all I’ll say for non-spoilers.

So getting that wibbly wobbly out of the way, do I think Creature Commandos is good? Yes, but it ain’t without its flaws.

Firstly the good: well I really love the characters this show introduces to us, we got

Doctor Phosphorus (a glowing green skeleton that can melt through anyone and anything) (is he evil or good? We’ll see)

Rick Flags Sr. (Rick Flags Jr’s. Father)

Nina Mazursky (think female creature from the black lagoon) (also is she good or evil? We’ll see)

Weasel (yep Sean Gunn reprises his role as Weasel from the Suicide Squad 2021, that same Weasel) (is he evil or good? We’ll see)

Bride of Frankenstein (is she evil or good? We’ll see)

G.I Robot (also voiced by Sean Gunn, this character is I wish I was kidding when I say this, he’s a Nazi killing Robot whose only motive is to shoot Nazis) (is he evil or good? We’ll see)

Then u have side characters such as

Amanda Waller

John Economos (that chubby guy with orange beard from the Suicide Squad and Peacemaker show)

There’s also these essential characters but they aren’t the main characters.

Princess Ilana Rostovic (is she evil or good? We’ll see)

Frankenstein Monster (voiced by David Harbour)

Circe (is she evil or good? We’ll see)

Now I guess I’ll answer this element of the question, which relates to an issue I have with this show. I wish this show gave us more villains as a part of the gang, u know like the Suicide Squad. We’re not supposed to like them, they are being rehabilitated to be used as a means to an end.

Here our rag-tag group of characters is just a group of either assholes or good to shoos.

I see what the message James Gunn was going for, he was basically saying even though these characters aren’t humans and are monsters, they might be the most human out of the human characters.

Essentially most of these characters are in prison because Essentially cops suck the justice system sucks and humans are shitty. These aren’t bad people who did bad things and got what they deserved.

These are basically innocent bystanders who got wronged for the sore reason of looking like a monster (We’ll except for one character. We’ll get to who’s that in spoilers)

The last issue I have with this series is the freaking character of Frankenstein, he’s abysmal. His character is essentially here to represent the toxic stalker relationship. Don’t worry his shtick gets annoying very quickly.

So overall I’ll give Creature Commandos a solid 8.8/10, warning spoilers ahead y’all been warned.

Time to spoil the 3rd act and any revelations, while they are on their missing to protect the princess, Bride of Frankenstein goes back to her home to get a trinket she lost, btw over time in this show we find out these important key factors.

Frankenstein is a stalker, he killed their master because their master fell in love with Bride of Frankenstein, Frankenstein wanted her and still hasn’t given up on her.

Weasel isn’t a bad guy, turns out he was really friendly to kids at a school, they went into a basement. A janitor noticed this and took things into his own hands, and set the place on fire which meant this guy killed these kids.

Weasel tries saving one of the kids by picking her up, but the cops come and think he’s eating her, so they arrest him, that’s sad and dark.

Doctor Phosphorus had a bit of a dad origin, he wanted to cure cancer and he ended up getting a budget from the mafia, his wife warned him and wanted him to leave them.

He was told to bring them any info he’s made, but he didn’t so one night they came into his house and killed his wife, then put all the guy’s prints all over her, then took him to his lab.

Shoved him into a machine and killed him with radiation, but instead, it turned him into a glowing green skeleton, now he’s reborn as this skeleton. He takes on the mantle of a mafia leader.

So really out of these people, he’s the only one who’s evil.

Now time for the most tragic story yet. We got Nina Mazursky (also if ur wondering why I’m not talking about G.I Robot? It’s because there’s not much to talk about.

He’s a robot who was built to kill Nazis and hates Nazis and only wants to kill Nazis, and one day in quote-on-quote modern time he gets brought by a Nazi and he finds out his new owner is a Nazi and kills the Nazis, but he gets arrested.

To this day he still wants to kill Nazis and ends up making friends with Nina Mazursky, but then he gets blown up by Circe, no he ain’t dead).

So back to Nina Mazursky, oh her story is devastating. So when she was born she unfortunately was born with her lungs on the outside of her chest (how? idk).

The mother starts growing distant away from her daughter, the father tries to make her life happy, heck he makes her a breathing suit. But the wife is just being a complete douchbag.

Being all, u know u aren’t just hurting her you’re hurting me, I’m gonna go stay with my mom for a while. Wow, what a douchbag, I know it’s not my daughter’s fault for being born like this but u my husband are hurting me because u want her to live.

Mother of the year, anyway when she gets older, and the more she’s bullied, the more she’s has trouble walking. Her father decides to experiment on her to reverse her situation.

Somehow it makes the situation worse, it turns her into a fish person who can’t breathe outside of water. So one day she decides to leave and live in the lake because she doesn’t belong.

Ugh, one-day town folks started seeing her and the cops came to arrest her, why? Who the hell knows why? But her father shows up and hugs her. He gets shot right in front of her and she’s still taken away to prison.

WTF, that’s horrible. Why’s she in prison? Also if she’s not good at killing or fighting then why did Amanda Waller hire her? She might be racist against monsters.

Anyways so  Circe gets captured and shows Amanda Waller the future. Where that princess takes over and kills every hero including humanity.

Yep, the princess is evil. Although Flags doesn’t think she’s evil because they both had sex, so he and Frankenstein who he unfortunately encounters. Team up reluctantly together after he tells him that his bride will see him as a hero if he does this.

Wow just wow, what they find is interesting. So this teacher who came in to back up Circe’s statement because she’s an expert in that degree.

What they find is that the teacher is dead and Clayface has taken her position, so Amanda calls off the attack but it’s too late the Creature Commandos are already making their way back to the castle.

And as the bride tells Nina Mazursky to go into the swimming pool and kill the princess, Amanda calls them to stop. But unfortunately, Nina Mazursky gets attacked by the princess and gets killed.

Ahhhhhhhhh! Seriously? Why did she have to die? Again her story was the most tragic, she was just a normal (well normal eh) teenager!

Anyways this upsets Bride of course. She feels responsible for demanding she goes and kills the princess, so while Phosphorus and the Bride are in the hallway.

She decides to go visit the princess, turns out Circe was right this princess is evil, how did these monsters figure that out? It’s because they saw footage on a security camera that showed Clayface visiting her.

Uh oh, yeah she planned this scheme the entire time, what a spoiled princess. The bride says she’s gonna kill her not because of some righteous morals. No, because she killed the only person who treated her like a human.

So she shoots the princess in the head ending her existence, good riddance. Anyway show ends with a tease for the future where Bride and Phosphorus get put back into prison. On the other side of the door is their new team.

I’m just glad King Shark is here, anyway the end. I cannot wait for season 2, I surprisingly liked this show. Anyways hope y’all enjoyed this review. See y’all next time.
