Wallace and Gromit: That’s right folks we’re going down memory lane with this one, today we will be doing a retrospective on Wallace and Gromit….it’s a British TV series that me and my sister grew up watching (no we’re not British).
But before I get too far into this review, let’s bring out that nostalgia by posting the theme song to this iconic show.
Ahhhh memory lane never felt so good before. Now to anyone who’s new here and has never watched Wallace and Gromit, I should tell y’all this is a claymation animated stop-motion series. Granted I do have trouble considering this a series when there are only 4 episodes.
BTW out of those 4, we will be talking about 3 of the episode because I don’t remember the 4th episode. So now let’s get the rating out of the way so we can dive into those 3 specific episodes.
Also, a reason I love this show is because the entire show is stop motion/claymation. We need more shows and films like this, granted it’s expensive and takes longer to make.
Overall I absolutely adore this show, it’s my childhood show I grew up on (or one of many childhood shows I grew up on). I just adore the stop-motion animation, plus Wallace and Gromit are such an iconic duo.
So I’m gonna give Wallace and Gromit a solid 10/10, warning spoilers ahead y’all been warned.
A Grand Day Out: so the rundown of this episode,
Wallace and Gromit badly want cheese with their crackers (mainly Wallace) so since they are out of cheese, what do they do? Do they go out to the store and shop for cheese?
Hell no are u crazy? No Wallace decides to build a rocket to go fly to the moon with Gromit because he believes the moon is made of cheese.
Don’t ask me why, so they get into the rocket with crackers, go up there, and have cheese with crackers.
They meet a little refrigerator robot who wants to go back with them, they get back on board the ship because they think he wants to rob them I guess, and they go back to Earth, anyway the end.
That was such a weird episode.
Wrong Trousers: so the rundown of this episode,
In this episode, Wallace and Gromit have fallen behind on their taxes so they need the money. So Wallace comes up with the idea to let someone come stay there and pay them.
So this guy (guy more like Penguin, a silent Penguin) named Feathers Mcgraw decides to come and stay because he saw the flyers, but Gromit is suspicious of him.
Also, Wallace built robotic trousers to take Gromit on walks, because I guess Wallace is too lazy. Yet he can build these absurd mechanisms!
Plot twist so Feathers Mcgraw is evil, he plans to rob a jewel from a museum, and he uses Wallace and his trousers to rob the place. He’s able to grab the diamond.
Also, how has he been evading captive this entire time? Easy he puts on a red rubber glove on his head to make himself look like a chicken, because that’s how that works I guess.
Gromit has got to stop him, unfortunately, he puts Wallace and Gromit in a cabinet by aiming a gun at them, they escape and make it on a toy train that McGraw is on.
They chase him of course, they finally defeat him because the train runs out of tracks and he flies in the air and a bottle falls on him trapping him.
They call the cops and he’s sent away to Zoo Jail where we won’t see him again until A Vengeance Most Fowl.
A Close Shave: so the rundown of this episode, in this episode we finally get to see another human character for the first time. This woman (I forgot her name) and her pet bulldog, works at a sheep factory that her father owned.
Anyways so sheep in the area are going missing, this special sheep called Shawn The Sheep finds his way to Wallace and Gromit’s house and causes some kinds of havoc.
Gromit notices, and starts to investigate the woman’s job, he finds out the dog has been stealing sheep and bringing them into the factory, unfortunately, Gromit gets caught by the police and is put in jail.
Shawn and his sheep break out of Gromit, luckily in time because the Bulldog kidnaped Wallace its owner, and tied them up in the factory. Ready to slaughter them I guess, yes the dog is evil.
Gromit finds a plane and rides in to save the day with Shawn The Sheep, they blow oatmeal into the Bulldog’s face and he falls into the shredding machine.
BTW if ur wondering Is the dog ok? Also if the dog being evil wasn’t a plot twist enough, here’s another plot twist. Turns out the dog is a robot, dun dun dun! Yeah her father made her that robot dog since she’s allergic to a lot of things.
She says the robot turned evil and started disobeying orders, and just then the robot dog came out of the machine. All its fur was ripped off of him. His full robot form is exposed.
BTW I remember this giving me and my sister nightmares as a kid, it’s horrifying.
Oh, the robot dog tries to attack them, but Gromit swings in and kicks the robot into the crushing machine, btw this damage to the dog somehow reprograms it to be a good-behaved dog.
They murdered it into obedience, anyways the woman comes to Wallace’s house to say bye to him, and her dog comes rolling up this time with wheels for feet, and he brings over Wallace’s mail for him. Awww good boy.
He asks her if she wants to stay for cheese. She says she is allergic to cheese. Well guess that’s it then, that wouldn’t work for Wallace.
He loves his cheese, anyways the end, I hope y’all enjoyed this review. Catch u at my review of Wallace and Gromit Vengeance Most Fowl. Till then
