Jack Reacher 2012

Jack Reacher 2012: Let’s start by showing y’all the trailers shall we?

Yep, that’s right today we’re reviewing Jack Reacher’s 2012 film. Why did it take me this long to get to reviewing this? Because why not I’m reviewing the first 2 Reacher seasons.

So what better time than now? BTW warning I’ve never read the books, and for a long time I didn’t know the Jack Reacher film was based on the books. Thought it was its own story, that’s how out of the loop I am.

But once I found out the fans didn’t like the film Because of reasons, I just had to check out the show recently and check out my review on the TV series after this review to see my thoughts.

Here’s a rundown of the plot, after this Assassin named James Barr is brought into a hospital because he’s in a coma after being attacked during a transport to prison. Why was he arrested?

Because h3s is suspected of a mass shooting from a parking garage in Pittsburgh (yes this film was filmed in Pittsburgh, my favorite area).

Jack Reacher gets introduced to

Alex Rodin (played by Richard Jenkins) (he’s the head Chief)

Emerson (played by David Oyeleow) (he’s a detective)

Helen Rodin (played by Rosamund Pike) (she’s the daughter of Alex Rodin and she’s also a lawyer)

She’s there to be James Barr’s Attorney, Jack Reacher at first doesn’t want to stay but after a lunch out with her he does change his mind. On the condition she goes and talks to the victim’s family.

Things get truly bizarre when one night at a bar this woman named Sandy (played by Alexia Fast) comes up to him and starts hitting on them then her brother and goons come up, and her brother named Jeb (played by Josh Helmen).

She tells him Jack called her a whore even though he didn’t, he finds out that this was all a set up so they had a reason to beat him up. Someone hired him to take Jack out.

But who hired him? Easy this bad guy named the Zek (played by Werner Herzog) (also his name translates the “Prisoner” in Russian), he’s a leader who has missing fingers because he ate them off while suffering in the arctic cold.

He’s bling in one eye, I’m surprised this guy is even standing. He has his men but most importantly he has his right-hand man named Charlie (played by Jai Courtney) he’s the hitman assassin who took out those citizens (yes spoilers).

So will Jack Reacher and Helen be able to bring down this evil? Why did this Zek guy have a hitman take out some citizens?

Also, why did the assassin pay the parking meter when he parked in the garage to kill the victims? Yes, that’s a thing that annoys Jack Reacher, he can’t fathom why the assassin would pay the meter.

All will be revealed (except for that last bit) in the 3rd act spoiler section, for now, it’s time for the rating. Overall I absolutely adore the film.

Keep in mind I saw this film way before I even found out this was based on a book series, still have not read the books nor do I plan on it.

So I’ll give Jack Reacher 2012 a solid 10/10, it’s a fun detective murder Investigation film. Warning spoilers ahead y’all been warned ⚠️.
____________________________________________________

Time to spoil the 3rd act and any revelations, so the villain’s motivation and plan this entire time? It’s based on a desire for revenge and to create chaos by orchestrating a series of seemingly random killings, targeting a specific individual while framing others, all to avoid being caught due to his past in a brutal Russian prison camp where he endured extreme hardships.

So essentially this guy is just the ultimate grumpy old man who’s sour to the world because it F’d him over, gotcha.

Also yes that’s why the assassin killed those groups of people, to Conceal the true target who was this person in charge of a car company called Omar’s.

BTW remember Jeb? Yeah the Zek hired him, and Jeb got killed because they didn’t want him to reveal anything. And he failed to take out Reacher.

They made it look like Jeb left town, left his car and his mom at home which he’d never do. Unfortunately soon that girl Sandy becomes the next victim, she gets cornered by Jai Courtney’s character at a motel and he kills her.

Somehow the cops think Jack Reacher killed her so a car chase happens through downtown Pittsburgh. Anyways after Jack escapes and goes on the run. Guess what else happens?

Emerson is a corrupt cop, he enters an elevator with Helen and Tasers her, and takes her to the Zek hideout which is at a construction sight.

They call up Jack to meet them there, and he tells them essentially if u harm her ill leave and that scares u because I’ll disappear u will never hear from me again and u know what I’m capable of.

So he gets the help of the person at the shooting range where he went at to get info on Barr’s.

So they head there and the guy only gives Reacher a knife because he doesn’t trust Reacher with a gun.

Reacher makes his way down to save Helen, he meets up with Jai Courtney’s character and decides to toss a gun on the floor that he steals from a guard to do a fist-to-fist fight for no reason whatsoever.

Also, it starts raining for no reason except for the fight to look cool, anyways the film ends with Jack shooting Emerson without shooting Helen, guess he has a great shot. He then goes and aims a gun at the Zek. I have to admit what the Zek says I do find to be chilling.

He says to Jack after he has Helen call the cops and Jack says so u don’t believe u will see the inside a prison? The Zek responds with “Ur but a lonely drifter who’s wanted for murder, while I’m an old man at the wrong place at the wrong time”.

Ohhhhhh I got the shivers, he ain’t wrong either, so Reacher shoots the Zek because he wouldn’t see the inside of a prison let alone the inside of a city bus.

Anyways happy ending, Jack heads out on a bus and lives his life. Helen gets to interview Barr because he finally wakes up, he tells her that he’s not safe since Jack Reacher is out there after him and no one can protect him.

Anyway the end, I hope y’all enjoyed it. Anyways happy ending. That’s all folks, hope y’all enjoyed this review. Plz take care and hope to see y’all there for my Reacher Season 1 and 2 review.
