Spongebob Squarepants It’s a Spongebob Christmas

Spongebob Squarepants It’s a Spongebob Christmas: Let’s first start by showing y’all the trailers shall we?

I’ve been meaning to review this iconic Spongebob special, and now I finally have the chance. Happy holidays, everyone!

Let’s get straight to the point: this special deserves a solid 10/10. The stop-motion animation is incredible, and it’s a unique choice for the special.

I highly recommend watching it, especially for the great songs. Spoilers ahead!

In the special, Patchy and Potty are driving a stolen mail truck to the North Pole to visit Santa. After crashing, they end up stranded, while in Bikini Bottom, SpongeBob wakes up and starts singing a fantastic song.

“Santa Santa Santa got his jolly little eyes on me!” I bet that’s stuck in your head now.

Anyway, Bikini Bottom is gearing up for Christmas. Patrick, for some reason, sets a trap to capture Santa using a cookie under a box. Classic Patrick.

As for Plankton, he’s frustrated with getting coal every year, so he decides to make fruit cakes with a negative crystal, Jerk-Tonium, that turns people naughty. He plans to distribute them using a machine and needs someone to deliver them. He tricks SpongeBob into trying a cake, but it doesn’t affect him, so Plankton thinks the machine is broken. He tells SpongeBob to do whatever he wants with it.

SpongeBob gives the fruitcakes to everyone, turning them into rude, nasty versions of themselves. Plankton realizes this but can’t figure out why SpongeBob is immune to the Jerk-Tonium.

In response, Plankton creates an evil robot version of SpongeBob. Meanwhile, SpongeBob notices the changes in everyone and asks Sandy for help. She’s also affected but helps him come up with a solution. The answer is an algorithm in the form of a song, which Sandy doesn’t recognize, but SpongeBob does. He then goes around singing the song to everyone to fix things. Here’s the clip!

“Santa’s brought nearly every gift on our list, why whine about the one he missed? Don’t be a jerk! It’s Christmas!”

Santa arrives in Bikini Bottom, telling everyone they’re getting coal for being naughty, especially SpongeBob. But Plankton, the only one who is nice, gets the secret formula.

Robot SpongeBob then tries to attack Santa, but SpongeBob stops it by pressing the off button, causing it to explode. One piece, with “Property of Plankton” engraved on it, remains.

Plankton is punished with all the coal. The episode ends with Patchy stranded in the snow, hallucinating in a cave labeled “North Pole.” Inside, he finds “Santa,” who turns out to be a polar bear wanting to eat him.

Happy holidays, everyone! I hope you enjoyed this review, and I wish you all a wonderful holiday season, no matter which holidays you celebrate!
