The Penguin Episode 7: Let’s start off with showing y’all the trailers shall we?

Ohhhh boy we’re in for another episode tonight, this episode opens up on something fucked up. We finally get to see Oz as a kid with his 2 brothers.

I want y’all to keep this in mind because I can’t spoil it yet, u know how Oz loves his mother? Well, keep that in mind because he really cares about his mom. To the point he would say fuck family, u will see what I mean by that when we get into spoilers.

Also, we are now 1 more episode away from this series is over, I’m sad that it’s ending but I’m glad with what we got. So for now let’s get a rating out of the way so we can get into spoilers.

10/10, yeah I think y’all knew I was gonna do that. There’s no doubt this is one of the best shows ever to exist in such a long while, HBO and WB I praise u for this show.

Plz keep up the great work both for the DC universe (but mainly The Matt Reeves Batman universe), and any future shows for HBO (will see if u continue ur great streak with Dune Prophecy which airs in 2 weeks).

Anyways spoilers ahead y’all been warned.

So in this episode, we finally get to see Oz as a kid with his brothers. We finally get to see how they both died.

So the 3 of them head out to go do something, on the way the eldest brother stops by a gangster and exchanges something for 50 dollars, they then head to their hideout in that underground place that now Oz has made his place of business.

Anyways they down here do flash light hide and seek. Oz counts while the 2 of them go hide. The 2 of them decided to go hide in like the capsule sewer area, why? Because it has a ladder which they know Oz can’t climb down. They are basically toying with him.

Anyway, he decides to close the hatch on them and let the rainwater that’s coming down drown them, he says good luck getting out. Jeepers, so Oz really is a monster. I mean the guy murdered his 2 siblings so he could be the only one to get his mother’s love, that’s royally fucked up.

Also talk about really loving ur mom so much, yeah way too much if u ask me. And here I thought what Oz did to Sofia in episode 4 was horrible, nevermind i think this takes the cake. Killing ur own siblings just so u can have ur own mom’s love all to yourself.

Yeah, get the hell out of here with that.

So now he heads home and lies about where his brothers are, how wonderful. Anyways cut to the modern day, Oz goes back to the apartment and finds Vic knocked out. He asks where his mother is at. He tells Oz they were dancing but then Sofia came and took her.

He then sends Vic out to get him an army, just then Salvatore and his men come on in. Salvatore starts beating Penguin up with a golf club, and Salvatore says “I found this at your place, I was never a fan of it. It requires too much sitting and waiting!”.

I mean he isn’t wrong, anyways Sofia is at her place asking questions to Oz’s mom. Relating to his childhood, she basically takes none of this and says my son will kill u, and when he does he will rule. Also, I do love what the mom says to Sofia “Oh right ur a Gigante now, what’s next u gonna dye your hair pink? Get an ass tattoo?” Hahahahahahah.

As Sofia asks more questions just then Oz’s mom starts having dementia breakdown.

She starts imagining things that aren’t there such as hearing rain, and her talking to her kids in a stressed way. So Sofia asks her doctor friend to talk to her, also he tells her that her cousin’s daughter wants to speak to the cops because she saw something.

So Sofia has to go hush her so she doesn’t spill anything (no I don’t mean kill her), anyways Salvatore tells Oz ur taking us to see your organization. Which Oz says I ain’t don’t shite until I know my mom’s ok!

Which Salvatore says “You trying to make a deal with me Oz?” “Remember what u said!? U looked straight at me in the eyes like a gentleman and told me that u won’t hurt my family!” “Well I’m a gentleman as well, so I’m gonna give u the exact same deal” Uh oh.

Anyways Salvatore takes Oz back to his underground base, where he tells all of Oz’s people that they now work for him. Oz is no longer in charge.

He tells them I get it u need to take a moment to take this all on, all done? Get back to work! Pack up the stuff!

Just then one of Oz’s men pulls out a cord which causes the lights to go out, Oz runs off and Salvatore pursues him. He chases Oz onto a school bus where they fight against each other. Just then Oz shoves Salvatore which causes him for some reason to get a heart attack.

Say what now? Yeah, that’s how Salvatore Maroni dies, by a heart attack. What’s even funnier is after the episode I watched the commentary behind the scenes afterward and I love the way Clancy Brown described Salvatores death, he says and I quote “It’s kind of a perfect end I have to say, Sal was all emotion and all heart, and eventually his heart bursts from rage and loss”

Well guess u can say Sal died from a broken heart, eh eh eh eh ok that was yeah I’m gonna check myself out of here, see y’all next time hahahahaha. Ok let’s continue, so even Oz is confused because Oz’s reaction is what the Fuck!

Then he starts talking to Sal saying “U were supposed to show me how much of a big man you are Sal! What happened to that Sal!?” Then he takes his handgun and says any final words? Huh, what’s that? Thought not, then he shoots Salvatores already dead body. Idk why but I laughed at that, but this once again proves Oz never thinks straight.

He always just goes on instincts which is caused by emotions. Anyways back to Sofia, she goes and visits the little girl. Right away when Sofia enters the confined room and this starts making her have a bit of a panic attack.

Because this reminds her of when she was in Arkham, anyways the girl tells her she saw a mask in her bag and asks did u kill my family? Sofia still denies that she did. But then she sees that thr girl been cutting her wrists.

Which once again the parallels here are concerning, just like her dad he got her locked away then in confinement she’d hurt herself.

She’s realizing this cycle will never end, her father got exactly what he wanted. He turned her into him, unfortunately, so she sits near her (doesn’t say she killed her family) but does reassure her saying ur family were awful people.

They helped in locking me away and they lied, they deserved to die. Whatever u grow up to be I want to give u a better life than they could. Then Sofia stomps out and goes outside the door and breaks down into tears.

Yeah, I would as well especially if I had to lie to a young kid and come to the realization I’m just being exactly like my evil father.

Anyways come to the end of this episode, Oz calls her up on Salvatores phone and says u bring me my mother and I’ll give u my organization, in reality, he has his men prepared to shoot her when she gets here.

So she informs her new boyfriend/Dr. That she agreed to the deal because none of this matters anymore, maybe Mother Cobb was right. Even though she tried changing the name of her family, changed some things around.

It all stayed the same, she still came put being exactly like her father who locked her away. She then has a panic attack and says I just want to be free, I want Oz to pay. I need him to suffer.

So as Oz has his men hide behind some walls with guns, this car comes into the tunnel. Then Oz gets a call from Sofia, where she tells him basically I have a gift for u in the car.

The driver gets out and runs off, Oz goes to the car and sees bombs under a blanket. Which he mistakes for his mother. So then Oz runs off and goes and hides in that tube he left his brothers for dead all those years ago.

The explosion caused some massive damage, let’s just say there’s rubble everywhere above them in the outside world, anyways Oz steps outside to all the ruckus. Then that cop dude that Sofia hired in episode 2 shows up and says Sofia wants to talk to u.

Then he knocks him out, that’s how the episode ends. Oh and here’s the teaser for the season finale

I’m so excited, I hope y’all have been enjoying this show so far, hope y’all enjoyed my reviews so far on this show. Furthermore, I’m glad the people behind this show never once decided to turn Oz Cobb into an anti-hero, he’s not supposed to be a good person.
