Titanica: so before we get started I wanna give some info on why I decided to now review this IMAX Documentary of the Titanic. Btw the Documentarys narrator is Lenord Nimroy…yes Spock himself. Also here’s an image of the ship sinking in case some of y’all aren’t history nerds.

So what made me decide to write a review on this Documentary all of a sudden is because lately a recent expedition down to the wreck happened and it was discovered the ship is now officially falling apart….about 15 inches of the front railing has officially fallen off…..look I know eventually this ship is gonna become dust, but it still gives u a gut punch when u see for yourself the wreckage is falling apart….here’s the image.

Me personally I say that they need to create an entire life-size 3D model of the wreck and put it in a museum….to keep it immortalized forever.
This is exactly why I am writing a review on this Documentary, to immortalize the Titanic on my Blog….it is a fascinating shipwreck, and I recommend any of y’all who don’t know much about the wreck….to go look it up. But also today I’ll be mentioning moments of the documentary that stuck out to me, I’ll be sharing images of the wreck before it hit the iceberg and after when the ship was located underwater.
Also, I’ll be listing some facts resulting to the Titanic in case some y’all don’t know.
This is a piece of history that needs to be preserved and never be forgotten.
Anyway let’s get a rating out of the way so I can give a broad idea of this Documentary, because really there’s nothing to spoil here…it’s a Documentary, not a film or a show.
So overall I’d say this Documentary is a really good one, heck it’s the only Documentary I have on DVD and am glad to own it in my collection…..the reason I brought this one is that the Titanic has always fascinated me (along with Alcatraz, those 2 pieces of history only fascinates me).
So where did I find this Documentary? Well almost a decade ago they had this 1992 IMAX Documentary of the Titanic on Netflix…but it’s no longer there, so hence why I located it on DVD and brought it.
I’ve always been intrigued/haunted by the shipwreck itself….also word of advice to anyone who has a fear of the ocean like me, if by any chance u have a therapist and that therapist tells u the best way to get over ur fear of the ocean is look up images….trust me it doesn’t help.
I should know because I tried. I looked up images of the wreck and my reaction was well I don’t think this helped me overcome my fear, in fact, I’d say I’m more horrified now by the ocean. So yeah don’t take that advice if ur deathly afraid of the ocean like I am.
So I’ll give this Documentary a solid 10/10, I highly recommend it…warning slight spoilers ahead y’all been warned….
Before we start talking about the Documentary I wanna post the link to the full Documentary right here so any of y’all can watch it…
Yeah, I recommend watching this Documentary, instead of watching that Titanic Movie that’s made by James Cameron…
So in this Documentary, we get to follow our explorers who are about to embark themselves down to the wreck of the Titanic in a submarine.
Back when the Titanic was first found in the dark depths, it was noted that the Explorer noticed this icicle-type stuff all over the ship, but they were rust colors. So he named it Rusticles…..that’s a fun fact for the day.
Anyways if y’all thinking that when they get down there to the Titanic (which btw is located 12,500 feet (3,800 meters) below sea level at the bottom of the ocean floor in the Atlantic Ocean).
They will instantly see the Titanic, ehhh kinda…..before they get to the wreck itself they have to get through the Debri field….which consists of small remains that float down after the ship crashed to the bottom…which consists of.
Wine bottles, which still have their corkscrews in them somehow.

Remains of toilet seats.

Boots, briefcases, Cutlery, plates, and cups. (Yeah somehow the plates and bowls haven’t corroded).

Engine telegraphs.

Also, the bottom sea floor located around the Titanic wreckage has Rusticles all over the floor.
BTW the debris field is about about 3 by 5 miles…..yeah that’s huge.
Anyways so our explorers make their way through the debris field…..but remember visiting the wreckage of the Titanic is dangerous, if the sub gets caught in any form of debris the submarine can get stuck down there….also the water pressure down there is so strong…if any hole in the submarine happens the water can and will slice the person in half..
Yeah, I can see no benefits to going down there to view the wreckage, how about uhhh make a 3D model of the wreck and putting it in a museum so we can all see it so we don’t have to do stupid things such as going down there?
BTW here are some images of the wreck itself, warning to anyone who has a fear of the ocean such as me, I’d recommend looking away now…this might be haunting to look at (heck I know I’ll be haunted just looking up these images to put them here).
I’m gonna put side by side image comparison so u can see images of what areas of the ship used to look like, compared to them now.

BTW another fact for y’all who are coming in here and have never researched the Titanic, the ship hit an iceberg on April 14, 1912, it took 2 hours and 40 min for the ship to sink…..there were 2,240 passengers aboard the ship…out of them only 705 to 706 passengers survived…..yeah the death toll that night was insanely massive. Also one of those passengers that died was Edward John Smith.
The issue was there were only 20 lifeboats aboard the ship, they didn’t think they would need more than that. Guess they let their hubris get in the way.
Who stayed behind to sink with his ship.
Anyways, wanna hear some depressing info that I learned thanks to this Documentary? Specially 3 depressing pieces of information I found out.
• this exposition was gonna be Edward John Smith’s final Voyage…..he was planning on retiring when making it back to Port, he served 40 years at sea. He never once had a fatal accident, he was a well-respected captain..he earned that retirement, but unfortunately the world had different plans for him. Guess u can say that retirement came sooner than expected.
(Yes I know I have a sense of dark humor)
• when the ship started to sink the musicians on board didn’t stop playing music, they continued to play music while everyone got on the lifeboats.
• The workers who put the coal in the furnaces to power the ship didn’t stop putting coal in the furnaces….they wanted to keep the power on so the passengers could locate themselves within the ship since it was dark out….how nice of them, they died by being heroes.
On a side note here are some quotes that people on the Titanic said while the ship was sinking. Fair warning some of the stuff u might read here is disturbing.
“I hope we get out of this all right. I have a wife and five little kiddies at home.”
-ROBERT WAREHAM, STEWARD
“We are dressed in our best and prepared to go down like gentlemen.”
-BENJAMIN GUGGENHEIM, FIRST CLASS PASSENGER
“For God’s sake, it’s your last chance. Go!”
-JACQUES FUTRELLE, FIRST CLASS PASSENGER
“We have lived together for many years. Where you go, I go.”
-IDA STRAUS, FIRST CLASS PASSENGER
“Women and children first!’ Someone was shouting these last few words over and over again… They meant my own safety but they also meant the greatest loss I’ve ever suffered -the life of my husband.”
-CHARLOTTE COLLYER, SECOND CLASS PASSENGER
“There was no moon, and I have never seen the stars shine brighter; they appeared to stand out of the sky, sparkling like diamonds. It was the kind of night that made one feel glad to be alive.”
-JACK THAYER, FIRST CLASS PASSENGER
Straus
Ida Straus, wife of Macy’s Department Store owner Isidor Straus, stops as she is about to board Lifeboat 8. Mrs. Straus refuses to leave her husband, saying, “I will not be separated from my husband. As we have lived, so we will die: together.”
Yeah, that night must been a horrific night for them. Here are some other facts about the Titanic:
It was the largest passenger liner in the world when it set sail in 1912.
• It was about the length of three football fields.
• It was taller than most urban buildings of the time.
• It had three real smokestacks and a fourth “dummy” stack to make it look bigger and more powerful.
• It had ten decks, eight of which were for passengers.
• It had 16 watertight compartments that could be sealed by electric switches or water sensors.
• It was designed to carry 3,500 passengers and crew.
• in January of 1912, the coal miners in Britain went on strike. Ships back then were universally fueled by coal. By mid-March 1912, there was no coal to be found anywhere in Britain. So The White Star Line decided they would cancel the sailings of multiple of their other ships.
The Oceanic and The Adriatic so they could give what coal they had to the Titanic so she make her main Voyage. So they didn’t have to postpone the Voyage any further.
There’s always been this argument made by both sides, no it’s not an archeological battle or a science battle, it’s a emotional battle.
Essentially, there are people who believe that no one should go down to the wreck and disturb with it. Also to not bring up artifacts, because they view the shipwreck as a graveyard that shouldn’t be touched and bothered with…
This is understandable if u ask me, I mean it is completely a graveyard. That’s what that is, it’s where thousands of souls lost their lives to that night.
Then there’s the other side where explorers/scientists want to preserve some of the Titanics history forever…..idk y’all decide which side u agree with and let me know ur perspective.
Anyways so back to this Documentary, the crew head back up to the ship to rest for the night and let the submarine charge….which is fair because the submarine needs to charge, they can’t risk anything.
When they go back down the next day they finally make their way to the front of the ship….when it comes into view it is jaw-dropping, it’s also eerie….here’s an image of the ship coming into view.

BTW I have another I guess u can call fact, but it’s more of something one of the survivors mentioned in this Documentary….they said “When they were a kid….when she was a kid and the Titanic first was made…no one ever seen any ship as big as that before, my mom for some reason was terrified”
When they got on board the ship, her mom stopped and said “Well now I know why I’m terrified, it’s because they assure this ship is unsinkable” which her husband looked at her and said, “That’s because this ship is unsinkable”.
Oof oh how little did they know, unfortunately.
Anyway, I think I gonna end this review here. It’s starting to get long…..I mentioned enough facts and info in case some y’all didn’t do any research on this famous shipwreck. I do recommend watching that Documentary, heck I also recommend doing some research on the Titanic….it’s a fascinating piece of history…
Anyway hope y’all enjoyed this review, I just wanted to do something different today….btw here’s a tease for the next review I’m working on, till next time.
