Morbius: Firstly here’s a trailer enjoy
Secondly, I wanna mention that I’ve never read a single comic book relating around Morbius. So I have no idea how accurate or not this film is to the comics….
With that out of the way Let’s get the rating out of the way so we can get into the spoilers….overall I absolutely hated this movie. But why does that surprise me though..when this is made by Sony the same company who thought it be a good idea to make 2 Venom movies with no Spider-Man in it…
Then proceed to make their own Marvel universe of Spider-Man villains, without once again Spider-Man…wow who could have thunk this would be a massive failure, also stop casting Jared Leto in movies…the guy can’t act well….btw this film’s photography is bad, u can barely see much of anything happening….
The scenes are dark, then there’s tons of blur to hide out the violent movements because I guess a vampire movie can’t be violent, good job Sony….
So I’m gonna give this film a solid 2/10, not worth ur time, now let’s get into the spoilers…so warning from here on out warning ⚠️ spoilers ahead y’all been warned.
So for this review I’m gonna quickly go over the main plot so I can point out the negatives and mention them…..so at the beginning of this film we start with a young version of Micheal Morbius who’s in a hospital for kids with similar symptoms of him. Which is some rare blood disease….ok then.
One day this other kid who so happens to have the same disease, whose name is Lucien…but quickly Morbius corrects him and calls him Milo, uhh sorry what? Yeah, he explains to him that everyone who was on that bed got the nickname Milo…
I’m sorry I don’t think that’s how that works, hey my name is Fred…no ur Milo, no I’m Fred…it’s my birth name, no ur Milo because I say ur Milo…so hi Milo what’s up Milo….lolo
Anyways Milo falls into some cardiac arrest because his machine stopped working, so then Morbius pulls out a pen and uses the spring inside it to fix the machine, which then grabs the attention of his father figure/mentor (Played by Jared Harris) who’s never named in this film for some reason…
So Jared Harris tells Morbius he’s gifted and that he should be sent to a special school to graduate from and then become a scientist….oh yes Morbius ur so smart like a scientist, u clearly showed ur smart by fixing the heart machine with a pen spring…ur a true scientist my kid, now run along and go to a fancy school to graduate from…
Yes all the necessaries to become a scientist, a pen, also the knowledge to fix a heart machine with the pen spring…yep ur good to go….this movie plot starts collapsing once u think about it, just don’t think about it…heck turn ur brains off I guess…
Also dude, ur running a place/school for kids with this special rare blood disease that’s deadly, why are u sending one of ur kids ur watching over away? This is strange….this doesn’t make a lick of sense….
That be like if a prisoner in prison got the attention of the warden because the prisoner did something smart, so the warden tells him…ur going places, I see how smart you are…u have a gift, here I’m gonna send u off to school so u can graduate, far away from this prison…
Doesn’t matter the mass murdering u has done, no ur a smart lad I see the potential in u…time to send u away so u can beneficially use that smartness….jeepers again this plot collapses…
Also, Milo gets picked on by movie-trope bullies, ok then…..also Jared Harris seems inept, he always comes to save Milo after he’s already on the floor being beaten up….u waited that long why?
Anyways so Morbius goes on to grow up. Becoming a famous scientist…heck wins the Noble Peace Prize…but he declines the offer…..because of reasons…
Also, he’s now played by Jared Leto (glaaaaavkkk) also he’s walking on crotches because he can’t walk….his body is failing him due to the blood disease, which he’s trying to find a cure too….
BTW we get one scene of him talking to a small girl patient in his hospital who he’s cheering up, all while that’s happening his lab is literally across the room this little girl is in for some reason….
In his lab is a giant tank filled with bats for some reason, also his doctor friend named Martine Bandcroft (played by Adria Ajona), she proceeds to inject a needle into Morbius’s spine. Which we get to see his completely skinny…
Again keep in mind people his lab and this happening are all visible from a patient room, how did he get the corporation to place his lab across a patient room is beyond me…better question to ask is how’s it no patient noticed the giant tank filled with bats and question it…
That right there would raise so many questions, does this not make anyone suspicious? Not anyone?
Eventually, he has his friend Milo (who’s now played by Matt Smith) to pay for his travel across the sea, on an unsanctioned mission…and he asks Milo for illegal guns men to join him….ok what job does Milo have where he can fund an unsanctioned sea trip and hire illegal guns men?
Oh don’t worry all ur questions will never be answered, we never find out what job Milo has….he’s just rich. That’s all the film thinks is necessary for the fans to know, and nothing else apparently….
I bet y’all wondering why does he wants to go on an unsanctioned sea trip? Easy he thinks he’s found the answer to a cure, by injecting bat DNA into him….alright and how did he come to that conclusion? Who knows…
So anyways he brings Martine Bandcroft with him so she can inject him, she’s a bit Hesitant at first but she reluctantly agrees to go with him….
Also really, another vampire movie with the vampire going across sea on a boat….hmmmmmmm Bram Stoker’s Count Dracula Chapter 10 Voyage of The Last Demeter much?
Also if ur wondering why there are douchbag mercenaries on this boat? It’s because so this film has an excuse for Morbius to kill someone of course…
Anyway, Morbius wakes up the next day to realize he slaughtered everyone on the boat…eventually, the cops get suspicious of him, and these 2 detectives try locating the guy who murdered those people on the boat…..
Take a guess what made them think it was Micheal Morbius who did this? The detective finds an origami on the boat and instantly recognizes that’s what he does…right because no one else does origami?
Anyways now that Milo is a vampire, he decides to do a dance shirtless to some weird ass music
I kid u not the lyrics in that clip I just shared is
“Have sex, have sex”
“I pooped my pants, I pooped my pants”
“Have sex”
Who wrote this song? Did a toddler write this song? Also who are the people at Sony who said yes let’s put this song in our film? Plz, fire them.
Anyway let’s just skip to the ending of this film (yes I’m gonna skip over that train sequence, it’s a nothing of a scene), (and yes I’ll skip over that cop station scene because again completely pointless, all u need to know is Morbius had the power of what I can only describe as slow-motion super speed with weird vibrant colors coming off him).
Except I will mention that Milo goes and kills their father figure Jared Harris, because he feels he’s always favored Morbius over him. So he kills him for that, wow since when did him becoming a vampire means he became a douchebag as well?
So come to the end, Morbius’s scientist lady friend has been kidnapped by Matt Smith (sorry meant Milo). Milo has Morbius’s girlfriend on a building, he bites into her neck which causes her to scream.
So since Morbius has super hearing, so he locates her onto a building where she’s near death and she wants him to bite her to save her so he does so.
Moving on, he goes and faces Milo in an underground train station, anyways the fight ends with Morbius summoning his bat pals, because I guess now he has that power. Also, why doesn’t Milo have this power? Oh wait I know why. Because the script says so.
Anyway he ends up killing Milo, and then the film ends with Morbius flying into the sky and using his bat hearing to idk go back to his girlfriend who is now waking up, the end I guess.
Yeah, that’s how the film ends, I kid u not. Wow, that feels like the higher-ups at Sony came in and said I don’t care what u want to add but we’re ending this film now, so end it now.
And they did, they definitely ended it, for better or for worse. If u ask me it’s both, it’s worse because this ending is dumb. It works because I can leave now.
Also, there are 2 end-credit scenes, none of which are good.
The first scene shows Adrian Tomb aka Vulture from the MCU teleport into the Sony-Verse, because? No really why? That’s not how the Doctor Strange spell worked in No Way Home. Spiderman doesn’t exist in this Sony-Verse.
So why is Adrian being teleported into a universe where Spiderman doesn’t exist? Uhhhhhhhhhh idk script. Anyways he’s let out or prison because he’s not in the system.
BTW I hats the line he says when he telports into a different prison in a different universe, he jokingly says “I hope the food here isn’t bad” oh ha ha ha, so we got jokes I see?
Not wait what am I doing here? Why did I just eat telported? No “I hope the food isn’t bad here” is what u had to say instead? Really?
Anyways the final scene is of vulture in his MCU suite, which he uses to fly to Morbius in the middle of nowhere where he tells Morbius to meet him.
Now why does vulture have his suite here in this universe, when it was established in the MCU his suite is made out of Stark Tech and in the Sony-Verse there is no Tony Stark.
So how did he get this suite, what? Was he teleported in this universe with his suite? I doubt it. Anyways I kid u not this what the film ends on. This horrendous dialog, here I’ll play it out.
Vutlure: idk how I got here, think it has to do with Spiderman. I’m thinking of putting a team together, because people like u and me could probably do some good around here.
Moebius: intriguing.
What the fuck? “Intriguing” really? That’s the way y’all thought would be the best way to end this film once and for all? With Morbius saying intriguing? Shouldn’t the correct response be, right so uh who’s Spiderman?
Not his final words be “intriguing” no no Sony just shut up, go sit in ur time out corner. U deserve a punishment after giving us this supposed universe you’re trying to set up, furthermore, these end-credit scenes they always set up never go anywhere.
I doubt this one will go anywhere either, I hope not either. If this is their setup to a sinister 6 without Spiderman. Then I don’t want that, who wants to go see a sinister 6 film without Spiderman in it? Ummmm not me that’s for sure.
Anyway the end, I hope y’all enjoyed this review. I got a few reviews planned out for November, until then.
