Wolfman 2010: Let’s start off with showing y’all the trailers shall we?
Since this is a Universal film, Y’all know what that means? Cue the Universal Logo!
Yes, it’s finally time to reveal this 2010 remake of a beloved classic….I know I’m late to it, but what better time than now….especially with Halloween coming up soon…
I know this one isn’t beloved by fans but I might have a different opinion than them…
BTW this film went through development hell…it went through..
Multiple re-writes
Multiple re-shoots
Multiple scriptwriters
Multiple directors
He’ll it got shelved at one point…..I’m surprised it ever got finished….
BTW if ur curious about why the CGI looks like a mess, we’ll it turns out they only had a few weeks left to film….and they couldn’t do any practical effects such as that amazing transformation scene from American Werewolf In London….which btw has the same visual effect artist who worked on that film…to work on this the Wolfman remake…
So they had to go the CGI route, if u ask me they should have delayed it and done it 100% correctly….but instead, we got like uh 96% perfect film instead…
Before we get into spoilers let’s get a rating out of the way so we can get into spoilers…..
Overall, this might surprise u but I actually don’t mind this film, in fact, it’s one of my favorite remakes……yeah ok I’m waiting for the hate to come my way, yeah get it out of all y’all….but I can’t lie this film was enjoyable…
I do have some issues, mainly that the CGI doesn’t age too well but that’s it…..so overall I’ll give this film a solid 9/10, warning spoilers ahead y’all been warned…
So in this film that takes place in the 18 centuries i think, a wealthy businessman named Larry Talbot (played by Benicio del Toro) goes back to his home country to see his dad whose name is Sir John Talbot (played by Anthony Hopkins)…..Larry hasn’t been back home ever since he was taken to a psychiatric ward when he was a kid because he had trauma from seeing his dead mother in his father’s arms outside in the front fountain….
She died because she committed suicide, keep that in ur mind for later because there’s a twist…..so the reason now Larry is going back home is because his dad sent out a letter to Jim informing him that his brother was found dead….he was brutally slain by some kinda creature……hmmmmmm.
Anyway, he goes and sees the corpse of his brother who’s under a tarp on a stone table…..Larry pulls it off which reveals this slightly obvious horribly CGI mutilated down to the bones remains of his brother….the hell could do that to him….
Anyway, his dead brother had a girlfriend named Gwen (played by Emily Blunt) she ended up falling in love with Larry…..how cute? Also cheers a detective in this film played by Hugo Weaving, who we will just call Detective Hugo Weaving……his character comes off as a bit of a douchebag….but at the core of his character, he’s a good guy…
He just wants to investigate some recent murders that have been happening…from a supposed creature…..anyways one night Larry gets bitten by this mysterious creature, womp womp…..so now he is infected and becomes a werewolf every full moon….on the night that he’s about to turn into a wolf, he has his dad lock him up in a cell to prevent him from being a threat…
Anyway that night he turns, he escapes, and goes on a rampage….he’s doing the next day covered in blood, and he’s taken to a psychiatric ward….because they believe he’s not a werewolf and that it’s all in his head…so they put him through chock therapy….which involves different types of torture methods, yeah that should be illegal….but it wasn’t back then….
Anyways so during a lecture at the mental ward…to prove to Larry that he’s not a werewolf, they have him strapped down in front of a live audience during a full moon, to show him it’s all in his head…..instead however turns out he is a werewolf….he painfully transforms into a werewolf……he then attacks the doctor then he leaves…
He escapes and turns back into a human the next day where he goes to confront his dad..
Then he, get this he reveals to his son that he was the one who murdered his own son and wife…..wait so the wife didn’t commit suicide, it was essentially just an altered memory….instead of seeing his dad holding the corpse of his wife after she did the thing…instead it was his dad was the Wolfman and he ate her……womp womp..
Also, he was the one who bit his son, Larry, which turned him into a werewolf…..wow father of the year aren’t I right? Anyways the both of them turn into werewolves…..they both fight each other in a dog fight, and Larry gets the upper hand and decapitates his father……good for him.
So then Detective Hugo Weaving shows up and gets attacked by Larry the werewolf, he gets scratched on the chest…..uh oh.
Then Larry goes after his new lover……he chases her into the forest where she tries to convince him to not hurt her by saying he remembers her….he stops and contemplates long enough for her to get away from him. But then he attacks again so she shoots him……which kills Larry…
Larry transforms back into a human in her arms as he dies, while the town folks including the detective stand near and watch that happen….then the detective looks up at the full moon realizing what his fate has become….unfortunately, anyways the end…
Wow, that’s a bleak ending, but sometimes that’s how horror films should be like…bleak and unforgiving…. Anyway hope y’all enjoyed this review on the 2010 remake of The Wolfman….
BTW there’s a reason why I chose now to review this film it’s because a few days ago Blumhouse/universal revealed via teaser trailer that they will be releasing their upcoming remake of The Wolfman in theatre on January 17th…
2 days before that some footage of the design of the werewolf was leaked, I say leaked…more like it was shown for upcoming Universal Horror Nights and someone recorded the prop with the man wearing the suit….here’s the image.

Yeah where do I begin, well firstly I don’t see Wolfman out of that what I see is a Meth Head who’s down on his luck….ain’t nothing Wolfman like about him…
According to the leaks I heard, get this they wanna go a different angle with this film…so the supposed angle they’re gonna go with is instead of the typical guy getting bitten by the Wolfman and turning into a Wolfman..
What if instead, it’s a normal father who gets bitten by a guy who got bitten by a wolf with rabies and now the father has wolf rabies in him so he will get some form of mutated wolf rabies that will make him aggressive but not fully a wolf…just a guy with rabies…
Well, that’s an angle that’s for sure, I’m not sure how I feel about hearing any of that…..btw here’s the teaser trailer for the upcoming Wolfman remake, enjoy I guess….I will say the teaser looks better then that image….
