Nope: Let’s start off by showing y’all the trailers shall we?

Since this is a Universal film, you know what that means? Cue the logo!

So I firstly wanna start off by saying I’m sorry I’m late to this review, plus the other 2 Jorden Peele movies. But especially this film….I’m 2 years late on it, but I wanted to get around to reviewing these 3 films….so now we’re finishing off this Trilogy with this 2022 horror Sci-Fi called Nope…

Also, idk if this counts as creative marketing or lazy marketing. U can be the judge of it, but the fact that the TV spot ads literally have a song with the lyrics being Nope….in an Ad for a movie titled Nope….in my opinion, that’s some clever piece of advertising I think I’ve seen in a while….

Now let’s get the rating out of the way so can get into spoilers….overall I absolutely loved this movie, it’s a creative take on the alien genre, the only issue I have is that i don’t think the ending is all that well. So I’ll gladly give this film a solid 9.9/10 i highly recommend watching this film. Warning spoilers ahead y’all have been warned..

So this film opens up with our main character named OJ Haywood (played by Daniel Kaluuya)  yep that same Daniel Kaluuya from Get Out….yeah Jordan Peele likes to reuse actors….this actor I don’t mind. Anyways he’s outside on the farm with his dad named Otis. Haywood Sr. (Played by Keith David).

Dint get to used to Keith David being in this film because, within this first 2-ish minutes, some metal Debris falls out of the sky and lands through Otis Sr.’s Right eye while he’s riding a horse…..Jesus..

Also if yall wondering where’s the sister character? Her name is Emerald Haywood (played by Keke Palmer) she’s asleep…

So OJ rides his dad to the hospital while his dad is bleeding out of the eye….unfortunately, the dad doesn’t make it, and he dies when he gets there….he’s pronounced dead, they five OJ the penny they found lodged into his dad’s brain…yep a penny killed him, yikes…but what could have caused it to be launched from that speed up in the air into the guy’s brain?

All questions for later, for now, OJ Haywood is left to run the farm along with his sister….him being the old traditional guy who gets things done and always wakes up on time, while his sister is the typical millennial who vapes and who parties, then get up late….

Anyways they get kicked out of filming an ad for their farm with a horse when she shows up late, and the horse acts up….according to OJ the horse gets Spooked easily, also u can’t control nature.

Unfortunately for them, they are running low on money so OJ has been selling their horses to this guy named Rickey Jupe Park (played by Steven Yeun) yes Glenn from The Walking Dead….

Anyways Emerald is looking around at all the memorabilia he has around his office…she realizes that he used to be this child star on a sitcom show back in the day that had a real-life monkey in the show….the kid name was Jupiter…also he lies and tells OJ he’ll see what he can do with giving him back his horses…u will understand why I say lied…

Anyway, the show stopped because of a bad horrific incident…..If y’all are curious I’ll explain the incident now…

So back then in an episode that was live airing. The family on TV was opening presents for the monkey because it’s the monkey’s birthday….anyways everyone including the live audience was loud with their laughter, also a balloon popped….this makes the monkey go Ape shite crazy (pun completely intended)

Anyways the ape brutally murders everyone there, and the monkey badly deforms a little girl by eating her face and pounding on it….Jupiter hides under a table, also the monkey notices Jupiter they both touch each other’s fists…

The cops come and shoot the monkey dead…gasps animal abuse, so this makes Jupiter think he can control nature. Keep that in mind for later…

Anyways OJ and his sister eventually get security cameras placed around their farm because they spot this 1 single cloud over a hill in the distance that hasn’t moved with the other clouds…ok that’s suspicious, so they go to an electronic store where there’s only 1 employee there at the counter who’s name is Angel Torress (played by Brandon Perea) he offers them an exclusive membership to sign up to…they refuse to…

He offers to come set the cameras up, and they refuse to but they end up reluctantly agreeing to…so he comes out there to set up the cameras, OJ is left behind with this guy while Emerald goes into town to buy snacks…..OJ isn’t happy because he’s not a social person, unfortunately for him he’s stuck with Mr. Blabber’s mouth who’s blabbering away about how his girlfriend has dumped him…

Hmmm, I cannot imagine why, anyways that night Angel hacks into their cameras to keep an eye on them while he’s at the store….both OJ and Emerald see something odd happen, Their horse Jean Jacket runs off…the power goes out, so does the cameras…..

Then OJ runs outside and across the field, because he notices a giant circular object in the sky flying above him…gasps a UFO..

So Angel came out there the next day saying did u see a UFO out there? Yep! Sorry had to do that….so Emerald and OJ both contacted that photographer guy they met earlier named Antlers Holst….they asked him if he could come out and film something for them…

They are being vague because they don’t want him to know they’re doing this for a money shot and the thing he’d be recording is a UFO….heck this is why they didn’t want to tell Angel about what they were using the cameras for..they are afraid he’d want in on the money…they both want the money for the farm…awwww..

Anyways Antlers acts all cryptic, he basically says no then hangs up…..he also says something about u always wanting to long for that shot, but when u get it…u don’t want it. The hell?

Anyways that night OJ experiences something, he hears ruckus in the horse pen…the lights also keep turning on…he notices these small 2 aliens with fur bodies…he pulls his phone out to take a Pic…just then they jumpscare him. Take off there mask revealing they are just 2 kids who are promoting for Jupiter’s big event he’s having at his carnival….oh whoopee freaking doo..

Heck Jupiter invites them down to it, also I forgot to mention he wants to buy the farm for some reason….anyways now comes the day of the live show at the carnival, jupe is wearing a red tuxedo with horses on it and is wearing a cowboy hat…he goes out to the audience…

We see in the audience that little girl now grown up as an adult is in the audience…she’s wearing a vale over her face to cover up her deformity….Jupiter pulls off this curtain around an object…

It’s one of OJ’s horses in a glass container…for u see jupe explains that he’s gonna feed the horse to the UFO…that the aliens and him know each other…he believes he can control them, uh uh see what I meant by that earlier? Also guess we now know why he refuses to give OJ his horses back…he’s been feeding them to the alien….

Ohhhh ok then, so he hypes everyone up….he tells them they have special plans then the aliens will show up later….unfortunately for them the UFO shows up early, womp womp….he still gets everyone hyped….he makes it seem like this is part of the act….

Just then the UFO hovers over them, they all get sucked up….we hear everyone screaming…then one of the most horrific moments I’ve seen in cinema history happens, we witness the inside of the UFO…it’s all clothy, we also see the humans being digested slowly…while all screaming……ahhhhh..

Anyways OJ shows up to reclaim his horses, but when he gets there no one is there…he instead finds his horse in the glass cage…..then the UFO shows back up and sucks the horse up while OJ hides behind a pillar……

So he rides back home while it’s becoming nighttime, and he tries calling up his sister and that weirdo technician guy to warn them that the UFO is coming….oh don’t worry they, unfortunately, unfortunately find that out the hard way..also it’s pouring rain as well so it’s night time and raining…

For u see they feel rumbling happening so the technician guy hides under the table with a knife after he runs back in because he is about to leave….the UFO has hovered over their house, and we still hear the screaming of the people inside it…

Then silence, the screaming stops….then objects come flying out of the sky including rains of blood….yes u heard that right rain of blood, it soaks their house in blood… Oh jeepers…

OJ gets to the house, and sees the UFO over their house…he closes the car door gets back in his car, and says uh uh nope….yeah smart I wouldn’t go out there anyways, oh also his car gets attacked by a fake plastic horse that the UFO ate up…

It now spat it out, it launches through OJ’s window….yikes, OJ spends the whole night in the car….the next day he has the 2 of them come out quickly to get in his car so they can leave because the UFO is still there…

As they head over to the car, the UFO flies over his car…just then OJ realizes something this thing is territorial like other creatures…and to not do eye contact with it so he puts his head down, he whispers to the 2 of them to put there heads down, they get into the car and ride away to a motel…

So if u haven’t caught onto the twist, let me explain it to y’all, OJ figures out that this UFO isn’t the typical UFO…..it’s in fact a creature of unknown source/location….it’s not made of metal it’s a fleshy living creature that eats humans/animals to live….it’s not eating them because it’s evil…

No it’s eating humans/animals to live. Also this creature just like tons of other creatures is territorial….what a twist…

So the next day they head back to their farm where they see Antlers Holst is there for some reason….he too notices the 1 single cloud over the mountain that hasn’t moved…he’s hear to help them get the money shot…woohooo.

So they come up with this convoluted plan where basically…

Antlers and the electricity guy will film the alien on Antlers old fashion camera which requires a handle to crank to keep it on….in the distance under some tarp..

While OJ goes and steels some those wavy inflatable men at a car store….to use as bate to lure out the UFO because the UFO hates things looking at it….and those things have eyes so it will think they are looking at it…

OJ will be riding his horse out there in case he has to steer the UFO away….he has a hood on with 2 fake eyes on the back to make it look like it’s staring at the UFO…he also has a parachute on a sting he plans to launch which will startle the UFO in case it gets to close to him..

All while his sister stays inside contacting them on the radio and keeping eye on the cameras…

Sounds like a great plan, but what’s this some motorcycle guy drives up to their barn as OJ is riding away from the UFO luring it out so Antlers can get the money shot….who’s this guy on the motorcycle? Well he’s a news reporter working for like TMZ…womp womp..

He starts filming her asking her questions, she reports back saying shite it’s TMZ….everyone acts all concerned, oh no the TMZ…whatever will they do?

Anyways the TMZ noties the UFO so it rised away but the alien shuts off his bike which makes him get launched off his bike…so OJ goes to save the guy but the guy keeps worrying over his camera so OJ leaves him behind while Jean Jacket (which is the name OJ gave the UFO) sucks up the guy…

Anyways eventually Antlers goes a bit nuts. Takes his camera with him while he walks up a mountain…he tells the employee we don’t deserve the shot….the hell is he talking about? Anyways as he takes video footage of the UFO, the alien comes up to him and sucks Antlers up…all while he’s filming, ahhhh that’s horrific….

Anyways employee guy runs away, OJ’S sister runs out of the house while the roof is being sucked up….

And Jean Jacket finally shows them his true form….he opens up into what I can only describe as this cloth-like ginormous jellyfish/sunfish/thing…so yeah turns out Jorden Peele said he got inspiration for Jean Jacket from sea creatures…well that makes sense…

So as his sister notices OJ is being eyeballed by Jean Jacket…she lures Jean Jacket away by screaming at it, and she gets on the motorcycle….OJ gives her the look basically telling her to leave without him…so she does so…she rides off towards that amusement park while Jean Jacket is chasing her down…womp womp. Anyways she gets to the place…she proceeds to get off the bike…

Makes her way to this well that can take Pics if u put a coin in the slot and hand twist the lever….she plans to get the money shot this way….but first she needs a distraction….so she releases up in the air a giant-sized balloon of Steven Yeun’s character….jeepers the ego on that guy was nuts..

Anyways she starts repeatedly putting quarters in and taking pics as the alien flies up into the clouds….fixes eyes onto the balloon…for some reason now this alien is an idiot and believes this is food and it’s a threat to him…even though earlier In the film it could tell a fake horse from a real horse…he’ll it spat out the fake horse..

But now it can’t recognize a balloon from a real person? Get the F**k out of here….so the alien grabs ahold of the balloon…..shifts back into its UFO form and flies off…oh right before it changed into its UFO form and flies off….OJ’s sister gets the money shot of its true form flying over the well camera….. Yay, she got the money shot…

Also most importantly the alien blows up, yeah the pressure of the balloon causes it to pop…..huh, I wonder if this alien came from outer space…doubt it did…think about it because if it couldn’t stand the pressure of a balloon, then what chance did that thing have surviving in space where there’s no oxygen and tons more pressure than a balloon popping?

Then this begs the question where did this alien come from? Anyway, the film ends with the sister noticing OJ on his horse under the sign that says “Beyond Yonder” Hmmm wonder if he’s dead or not…..it’s left up to y’all interpretation…

So happy ending? I honestly don’t know, also what’s gonna happen to their farm?

Where are they gonna sell the image?

Will people even believe them? I don’t think 1 image of an alien would convince everyone that it’s real, I mean have u seen those so-called UFO images on the internet? Not everyone believes in them….

What happened to OJ?

Where did that alien come from?

Guess we will never know the answers to those questions…. Anyway hope y’all enjoyed this review…also here’s a tease for the next review I’m working on….till next time…
