Invisible Man 2020: Let’s start off with showing y’all the trailers shall we?

Since this is a Universal film, Y’all know what that means? Cue the Universal Logo!

Yes I know I’m 4 years late to this film but what better time to review this remake….especially with Halloween coming up soon, so without further a due let’s get the rating out of the way so we can get into spoilers….

Overall I actually really enjoyed this film, like a lot…..I especially like the angle the film takes, where an abusive husband finds a way to become invisible….and stalk his wife…..it’s kinda a callback to the original film where he was an abusive guy there as well…

So overall I’ll give this film a solid 10/10, warning spoilers ahead y’all has been warned….

So in this film, the plot kicks off when a woman named Cecilia (played by Elisabeth Moss) escapes an abusive relationship from her husband Adrian Griffin, the founder, and CEO of the human-computer augmentation company Cobalt.

She calls up her friend one night to come pick her up to take her away from him, as soon as she gets in the car he chases her and slams on the window……so we can see how much of an abusive douchebag this guy is….

But finally, she’s escaped from this abuser, anyways 1 week later after she escaped….Adrian was found dead, he committed suicide……womp womp……so guess now she’s forever free from his grasp right?

Well if that’s the case we’d not be having a movie now, would we?

Guess who gives her that info of his death? Her estranged sister…..yeah they’ve not had the best relationship, also now Cecilia still has PTSD from her husband….scared of people ringing doorbells, or she’s also paranoid about if she’s still being stalked…..yeah she has to go through a process to get used to coming back into society….

Anyways Adrian’s layer brother named Tom calls her in and basically tells her she’s about to get a big payday because Adrian’s property including money will go straight to her……ohhh nice…

Except she can get that money if she doesn’t do anything insane or be deemed to be mentally insane, whixh u can already tell where this is going….

BTW remember how I said we wouldn’t have a movie? Well, she starts suspecting that she’s being haunted by Adrian or that he might not be dead…..because she fell unconscious and turns out it’s because she had medicine in her blood system that she’s not taken in a long while…

So how did it get into her? So she goes to Tom to tell him she believes Adrian is still alive and to make it stop….Tom reveals he too hated his brother and was happy when he found out he was dead…and yes he is dead, but she’s uncertain because Adrian is a massive smart Mastermind…

He knew how to get under her skin and manipulate her…heck he was great at building tech……so she thinks he might have made an invisible suit….ahhhh clever…

It seems as though she may not be wrong because things start getting worse for her…..for instance one night her family friend whos a cop brings his younger daughter over, and an invisible being slams the girl into the table….unfortunately the friend including his daughter thinks it is Cecilia who did that….

This is exactly what Adrian was like…..he would separate her from her friends and loved ones so he could abuse her and manipulate her…..what a charmer….

So she screams and says show yourself! She then calls Adrian’s number and his phone rings above her….she goes up to the attic and waits for him to climb up the ceiling…where she dumps white paint onto him from a bucket….which shows an outline of the invisible man…..womp womp…

BTW later on she goes and visits Adrian’s home where she finds a secret room where he was building things….in there she finds controls that she presses, which reveal an invisible suit that has tons of micro cameras around it….perhaps that’s how it turns invisible?

Anyways things get worse for Cecilia…one night at dinner with her sister, this invisible entity takes her stake knife and slits her sister’s throat……uh oh, so Cecilia is taken away to a mental ward because they think she’s insane….

Tom visits her and asks if at all she might be pregnant….she doesn’t know, but the reason he asks is because test results came back saying yes she is….so turns out she is, uh oh….Tom also then reveals something by saying u can never escape Adrian…..

Wait so is Adrian still alive? And did Tom know this entire time? Anyways that night she takes this theory to the test….if Adrian is there….Zhe steals a pen and tries cutting her wrist and screams u will never have this baby! Then this invisible entity tries to stop her…she then stabs him which reveals his invisible suit…

She runs through the hallway where cops try to chase her….but all of a sudden the invisible man takes down the cops…idk why he’d do that, it exposes him and makes her not seem as cuckoo as everyone thought she was…..

Anyway, she makes it home, and her dads friend notices the invisible man…but u can’t fight something that’s invisible….so he gets punched out cold…..so she takes a gun and shoots him…she then takes off his mask which reveals it’s not Adrian under the mask…no it was Tom…say what!?

Oh, the cops raid Adrian’s house and funds Adrian tied up in the basement……so he too is also a victim like her? Yeah, I doubt it….so case solved right? Well..

So one night she goes to Adrian’s house to confront Adrian….he’s still adamant that it was his brother who was the invisible man….he was rude to her and he’s gonna change….yada yada, Cecilia has a breakdown and realizes he’s never gonna tell her the truth…..

He then does reveal that he framed his brother and set him up to die….ok this guy is a sicko, oh and this confirms he made more than 1 invisible suit….

Anyways she excuses herself to the restroom….then we see Adrian take a knife and kill himself by slitting his throat, or that’s what it looks like because it turns out Cecilia put on the invisible suit and killed him….

Her cop friend shows up and notices the invisible suit in her bag, he allows her to come clean…but she says she only came to make sure he confesses…..he lets this one slide he labels it as a suicide …I think deep down he knew this would be the only way Cecilia would be able to get away from Adrian’s grasp..

If u ask me this didn’t come off as a revenge motivation, no I feel she instead saved any future victim….because think of It, if she let him love and want to tell on him…it be her word against his…he’d get away with murder again…no one would believe her…he’d get to go on and torment her or torment some other poor innocent woman…

So she really did the world a favor if u ask me…. Anyway the end, those are my thoughts on this 2020 remake of The Invisible Man…hope y’all enjoyed this review….and here’s a tease for the next review I’m working on…till next time
