Talk to Me: Let’s first start with showing y’all the trailers, shall we?

I first wanna mention that I’m sorry that I’m late to reviewing this movie, had a lot to catch up on…but now I’m reviewing this movie, and I’m glad to…

Now let’s get the rating out of the way so we can talk about this film, and so I can mention the gripes I had with this film….overall I enjoyed it, it’s a good horror movie…I wasn’t personally scared, some moments slightly unnerved me but never scared me. However, some moments got me personally pissed….which leads me into why I don’t consider this great…

The parts that pissed me off really pissed me off, the majority of which had to do with the main characters…they’re stupid, and none of the characters I enjoyed…nor cared for…except for maybe one of them, but then her actions she does in this film completely make me say do u know what no I don’t feel bad for her anymore…this is just stupid and selfish what she ends up doing….

Basically, almost everything bad that happens in this film can be attributed to this character’s one stupid decision, but it’s not also her to blame it’s the other teens who even considered this game a good idea…no seriously who in the right mind would be like hey I brought this mannequin hand and if u hold it…say the words talk to me, u can talk to a demon or a ghost…

Yeah let’s do that let’s get a party of our friends, drink booze, and chit-chat with the dead via a mannequins hand, oh yes can’t see anything wrong with this idea…no this will all go dandy, u know how there’s always that trope in horror movies where the main characters are always stupid? Well, this film takes that and amps it up by 100…

This film runs on stupidity, I’ll explain why later, but that’s all u need to know right now..the film pissed me off, and it ran on stupidity….

Now I will say the concept of this movie is unique, the whole idea of this movie is that these teens are so desensitized by this ghost-calling game….to the point they’re doing it themselves to ride that high because they saw someone else on social media do this game…

This movie is one giant message for how social media has desensitized this generation… I mean forget talking to ghosts, get this in real life, some children set themselves on fire on social media…why? Because they saw someone else do it, and they wanted to ride off that high…

If this film came out 10 or 20 years ago, this film would be judged. People would be like, “What human being would be this stupid enough to do any of this?” Well ummm Gen Z…that’s who, that’s who stupid enough to do anything like that…social media has rot our brains…but that’s another conversation for another time, I just wanted to point out the parallels here and why I think this film’s concept is unique for a horror movie…

Also, this movie feels very relaxed I think that’s why I don’t like it…no not that the horror is very realistic so it’s scary, no hear my words people…a group of teens see something trending on social media so they try to do the thing they saw…what does that sound like? Oh, wait, a min TikTokers…

I hate TikTok and TikTokers, I think that’s another reason why this film pisses me off…kinda the reason why I’ll never watch the horror movie M3gan…sorry that’s a stupid name if u ask me “M3gan” I mean what do u do if u make it to a third film? Because a sequel is already being made…u ruined already a good pun for a third film….

What’s the sequel gonna be called “M2gan?” Also, on another note, I refuse to watch a horror movie that’s promoted for and on TikTok…the trailer had the killer robot do a dance which became a meme on every social media including TikTok…

So the company used that to their advantage, and started marketing the film to everyone via TikTok with that meme dance, heck there was a time we were on live sports they had a group of girls come out on the field all dressed in M3gan outfits…then have them start performing the meme dance…again this was to promote a horror movie folks…

A group of girls dressed as robots. Coming out on a field and then proceeding to do a TikTok dance in front of millions of people, and somehow we were supposed to find that scary? Like I said, I refuse to watch that movie….

It’s funny how this movie is a message on social media, while M3gan was promoted on social media…..what day and age are we in? Is this the new norm for horror movies? Promote the film on TikTok? Am I so out of touch with this generation? Even though I’m a part of Gen Z…..

So overall, I’ll give this film 2 different ratings…

As a horror movie, it gets a 9/10..

As a movie that I’d find myself rewatching (doubt it), the film gets a generous 4.8/10..

So take that as u will, now from here on out warning ⚠️ spoilers ahead y’all been warned…

So this film opens up with a party going on. At this parry a guy is rushing upstairs to his brother’s room because his brother locked himself in his bedroom….he’s clearly not doing well, they try to demand he opens the door…he doesn’t answer…

Eventually, the brother opens the door and takes a knife, proceeds to slaughter everyone, including his brother, and walks downstairs continues the slaughtering. Then he takes the knife while everyone is running away….aims it at his neck and cuts his own throat…..ok what a way to open up this horror movie…hope that sets the tone for the rest of the film…

So the plot officially kicks in when this group of teens whose names are,

Mia (played by Solphie Wilde) this girl has issues, her mom died and she can only ever think of her mom…she’s sad her mom is gone, and she misses her mom…yeah don’t worry it becomes important later.

Hayley (played by Zoe Terakes)

Joss (played by Chris Alosio)

Jade (played by Alexandra Jenson)

Riley (Jades Brother) (Played by Joe Bird)

Sue (Jade and Rileys Mother) (Played by Miranda Otto)

Then there’s her brother Riley (played by Joe Bird) and their mother Sue (played by Miranda Otto)….

Anyways one night, both Mia and Jade head out to a teen party that Jade invites Mia to… but when they get there, no one is happy that Jade is here because she’s a massive Debby Downer. Because she misses her mom… but this is why Jade wanted to invite Mia, so she can have some fun time….hey she’s a good friend to Mia…

So when they get there, both Hayley and Joss are these 2 teens who vape. Are talking about this challenge they have and everyone else has seen on social media… called The Talk to Me challenge.

Where u use this mannequin hand that has names marked all over it….which the 2 idiots have it, oh joy…..so the group each takes their turns, sits down gets strapped in…. grabs the hand, and says talk to me…which then they go through what I could only describe as getting a high from snorting cocaine….that’s the best way I can describe it…

Then they see a ghost which they can talk to but only for a short time like 1 minute otherwise, the ghost will possess them…..so they time them and have the timer stop at 1 minute, ah this isn’t just a challenge this is a stupid challenge, so basically the majority of TikTok….got it.

So eventually guess who gets a turn at using the hand? Hayley, yes the Debby Downer gets to use it….then we get a montage of everyone else including her using it…here’s the montage.

So eventually the night ends so they head home, when they get home guess who wants to join the next party and use the hand? Riley…..but Jade won’t have it, understandable, he’s young and she’s older…

Riley begs Haley to let him come, but she, unfortunately, says sure, Jade reluctantly agrees…..this is the start of the downfall, also this is where I start hating this film…

Side thing wanna know what her relationship is like with her father? She doesn’t talk to him. She stays mostly quiet….although he wants her to open up to her and not hold back her emotions…well at least he’s trying to be a good father….while she’s being a Debby Downer….

Oh btw Sue tells Haley her kids absolutely love her, and that she has always considered Haley a second daughter she’s never had….uh huh, hold that thought I don’t think u will want her as ur daughter….she’s about to backstab y’all in the back because of her sheer stupidity…

But I’ll give her a pass because her mom’s dead, so anyway come to the next party….Riley comes along, and they sneak him out past their mom, so that night Riley has his chance…the group tells him if he doesn’t want to do this he doesn’t have to….understandable I wouldn’t either….

So anyways Riley comments and here’s his possession scene…

This is where things get bad….so the boy gets possessed…. the ghost’s voice sounds like Haley’s mother, so she sits in front of him all emotional…tells them to continue and don’t stop….my freaking god woman do u hear yourself? He needs to stop otherwise he’ll be possessed forever….but nah she refuses to let him stop…because she just wants to hear her mom’s voice again…. sigh cry me a river.

So then the possessed Riley stands up goes all wild, goes up to a shelve and proceeds to smash his eyeball into the corner of the shelve…where he starts bleeding, ahhhhhhhhh! Good job Haley u dumbass…

So now Riley gets sent to the hospital, also he’s now in a coma…of course, Jade and her mother are mad at Haley and tell her to not come by to visit them ever again or come check on Riley…..

Well congrats Haley u did this to yourself, I hope ur happy….oh but don’t worry her stupidity doesn’t end here, she stole the mannequin’s hand so she can try to contact her mother…..oh keep in mind no one’s there to pull her out and have a timer…..sighhhhhh.

Anyways she messes up, she now is cursed, and she starts hallucinating things such as ghosts….that may or may not be there, hey look I’d like to feel bad for her but everything that’s happening to her she’s done to herself….

Anyways so she goes and visits Riley in the hospital….

Then Haley stays next to Riley while he’s in his coma, she falls asleep….then wakes up to him missing, she goes into the restroom where she sees Riley on the floor hunched over bleeding while holding shards of tiles in his hands, trying to hurt himself….oh goodie..

So now she wants to get rid of this curse, so she partners up with Jade and the 2 dimbos who brought that mannequin hand with them…they plan to go visit the brother of the victim who was cursed by that hand in the beginning of the film…

They locate him on a bus at night, they try to talk to him…he won’t have any of it because he said I tried to warn u 2 about that hand…u just didn’t listen to me….Haley talks to him on the bus, he opens up and reveals there’s no way to get rid of the curse…he wishes them luck…

They get off at the next stop and the 2 bimbos wish Haley luck, they apologize for bringing that hand…they tell her to destroy that blasted thing they don’t want it anymore, well ain’t that a little too late for that?

So Haley heads back home, and her dad starts acting a bit crazy by grabbing her hand for some reason…she runs up takes a gun, and shoots him…mistaking him for a ghost, oh I don’t care….

So Haley believes she has the method to ending this curse…she plans to go to the hospital and kill Riley…say what now? U starting to see why I don’t like Haley that much?

So she calls up Jade as she drives to the hospital…she tells Jade to meet her at her house she has a plan to end this all…..oh cool Haley is lying to her friend to lure her away. Now we can add lying to her track record…

Anyway, she makes it to the hospital to his room…the mother comes out and apologizes to her and tells her she will always have a place with them…..oh jeepers this hurts, anyways the mother leaves….Jade finds out what’s happening so she rides back to the hospital….

Anyways Jade finds her friend pushing her comatose brother in a wheelchair down a hill into traffic….because she believes this will defeat the demon somehow….ok it’s official this character has just become obnoxious, and if there was any ounce of me caring for her…it’s now officially gone….plz can this character just die already…

Don’t worry my wishes come true, so she doesn’t end up pushing her friends brother while Jade and the mother are yelling at her to stop…..instead Haley jumps onto the road, lands face first onto a car and falls onto the road…which kills her, oh finally thank u film…

So the film ends with Haley dead and the next people who’s doing the Talk to Me challenge is contacting her spirit from beyond the grave, oh joy…..the end…well this was a doozy, but I won’t lie it had some originality to it…but I still didn’t like it..
