Gravity Falls Part 1: Let’s start by showing y’all the trailers shall we?

Ok firstly before we get any further I just want to point out that yes I know I’m late to this show but I’m so glad to have gotten around to it, also for this review I’ll be mentioning our main characters, the villains in this show….talk about 2 or 3 of my favorite episodes which will give y’all an idea of what this show is like….then talk about the 4 part season finale…which also means I need to bring up seasons 1, 2 part season finale….

Also, bring up important plot twists….

BTW I’ll be splitting this review into 2 parts, 1 part reviews the first season, and the second part reviews the second season.

So now let’s get the rating out of the way so we can get into spoilers, overall I freaking love this show hands down, btw for a Disney show this show is extremely dark…they push the limits….I heard they had to struggle to get Disney to budge to allow them to get away with half the stuff shown in this show…..

Yeah speaking of I should give a warning to people who get scared easily….so warning ⚠️ this show has elements such as.

A demon from another dimension that can do horrific stuff such as pulling teeth out of animals.

Zombies, yes u heard that right…zombies.

A shape-shifting parasite, kinda like the creature from the movie The Thing.

There’s a little bit of blood in this show, I did say this show gets away with a lot.

Chanting possessed animal heads.

A ghost with an axe in his head (spoiler alert his back story back flash we do see the axe fly towards him then his arm go limp….yeah).

Also, there are just moments where the show well shows us horrific imagery….I’ll be sure to put video links to montages of disturbing moments from this show, u can see what I mean by this show pushing the limits for a kid’s show…I love it..

So overall I’ll give this show a solid 10/10 I highly recommend it…go watch it u have Disney Plus….so now warning ⚠️ spoilers ahead y’all has been warned….

Now let’s show y’all the opening theme….it’s both eerie and ominous…also weird….

God, I can’t get that theme out of my head…it lives rent free in my head,.also, I never skip this theme song….btw do y’all see what I mean by this theme song intro is weird?

So in this show, we follow our main characters named

Dipper Pines

Mabel Pines

Gruncle Stan

Soos

Wendy

So to give a rundown, both Dipper and Mabel get sent down to live with their Gruncle (grumpy uncle) (or grandpa uncle) for the summer in this made-up town called Gravity Falls…

Where his uncle works and lives at this attraction called The Mystery Shack. There’s a running gag where in this show the S on the sign keeps falling off and it says the mystery hack….which isn’t too far off because everything inside is all fake. He taped and glued things together and called it supernatural and weird…

Just so he can make a quick buck, yep he’s a scammer….SMH.

Anyways, where his 2 employees Soos (an oddball for sure, he’s the comic relief), Wendy (the teenage girl who doesn’t really give a damn about working, prefers to have fun and go hang out with her boyfriend Robby who’s a goth).

Dipper gains a crush on Wendy (this won’t be the first or last time a small kid gets a crush on a teenage girl in a Disney show….it’s just weird and disgusting.

BTW remember how I said this show pushes the limits for a kid’s show? Well here’s a min and a half of montages of moments from this show that will make u think, oh yes…for the kids.

Also, there are recurring town folks in this show. Their names are.

Old Man McGucket

Gideon (a small bratty rich child who wears a blue tuxedo and has an absurdly tall white hair, he’s an archenemy of Stan Pines, and he hates him…Stan also hates Gideon)

Abuelita (Soos grandma)

Blendin’ Blandon (a time traveler who’s bald and wears a grey jumpsuit, yes u heard that right time travel)

Waddles (Mabel’s pet pig she won at a fair)

Grenda (Mabel becomes friends with them at a party that Gruncle Stan does in one episode)

Candy (Mabel becomes friends with them at a party that Gruncle Stan does in one episode)

Bill Cipher (an inter-dimensional demon who’s shaped like a little yellow triangle, has one eyeball, a top hat, and carries a cane….it’s described in the book Dipper Finds, this mysterious book with a hand symbol on it that has 6 fingers, yes six and the letter 3.

So turns out that there are 3 of those mysterious books, three books are like journals that have info on the strange, and the paranormal, including on how to defeat the encounters..it so happens Dipper found one of the 3 books, Gruncle Stan has the other 2 books hidden in a secret basement.

I’ll explain that later, but what’s important is that in the book Dipper has, there’s a warning inside to never let Bill Cipher enter ur mind….yeah he’s a mind demon)

Toby (this weirdo who says he’s a news reporter but he seems to never report on anything, also he uses any object he has on hand as a mic)

Sherif Blubs

Deputy Durland (both Durland and Blubs are the first Gay characters in a Disney show. I gotta give them props….no we never see them kiss btw) (also these 2 are complete goofballs when it comes to their jobs.

Pacifica Elise Northwest (she’s a pretentious snuck up snobby spoiled blonde haired rich girl, who has a snuck up snobby father and mother, there’s also hints that the father might be extremely manipulative towards his daughter, possibly kinda abusive. Not physically abusive)

Remember how I alluded to Mabel making 2 friends at a party that their uncle ran? Well in that episode Dipper and Mabel Find an old copy machine in the backroom that he tries to use to copy flyers to hand to people….he accidentally puts his arm on it which it scans it..

The arm comes to life, yes u heard that right….so the copy machine can bring things to life, I did say this show gets weird….but don’t worry it gets weirder…for u see at the party he and Wendy are left outside to keep an eye on the money and let people inside.

Wendy heads inside with Robby to go dance. So Dipper pulls out a written down plan he wrote with multiple steps on how to win Wendy over….ok Dipper buddy this is pathetic.

So he decides to go clone himself. He names his first clone Tyrone because that’s a name he always wanted apparently, things get out of hand when they decide to clone themselves 2 more times because they’re afraid of this plan failing….

BTW this leads to one of the most goofiest moments I’ve seen..

I swear to God, I laughed my A$$ off so hard at this scene, every time I watch it….the fact there’s a paper jam Dipper clone and all it can say is Nyi Nyi Nyi Nyi, and laugh in a distorted laughing way….

BTW in this episode we get some info on why Dipper is named Dipper….he has a talk with Wendy near the restroom, where he reveals he has a birthmark…Wendy chants him to show her…

He takes the hst off, revealing a big Dipper birthmark on his forehead, makes sense why he’s called Dipper.

Anyways eventually all Dippers turn on each other because we saw this coming….luckily for real Dipper all he has to do is use any liquid on the clones because they melt….so he uses a party popper which sets off the sprinklers…so they melt away…

Unfortunately, Tyrone survives, also double unfortunate they both witness Wendy leaving with Robby….so they both call a truth and drink soda together on the roof, where Tyrone takes his final drink…

Then a hole forms in his chest, he starts melting away and says remember our conversation…and talk to Wendy, don’t be a chicken for my sake! How adorable.

There’s a specific scary episode from season 1 I wanna talk about, it’s called Summerween…so in Gravity Falls they celebrate Halloween in the summer for some reason, and instead of using pumpkins as Jack o lanterns they use watermelons and call them melon lanterns….guess that’s clever…

So that night Dipper badly wants to join Wendy at a Halloween party she invites him to, but Mabel wants him to go trick or treating with her and the gang, unfortunately for them….thanks to Dipper there fates get chosen for them..

Someone rings the doorbell, and thanks to Dipper being in a bad mood he refuses to give the figure candy…..btw This figure is this tall lanky figure with a scarecrow hat and a yellow smiling mask on his face….yikes, he enters their house and is pissed that they won’t give him candy….

Mabel calls him funny. He says funny am I? This kid named Gordy walks up and the figure grabs the kid and eats him alive, gasps.

This figure who’s called the Trickster, asks them to get 500 pieces of candy before the last melon lantern blows out….he will then let them live, the choice is there’s either trick or treat or die….yes this is a kid’s show btw, where a scary demonic figure just threatened to eat a group of kids if they don’t get him 500 pieces of candy…

So they go trick or treating, they force Dipper to wear his costume which Mabel was gonna dress up as jelly while he dresses up as peanut butter, he doesn’t want to but eventually agrees to….so they don’t die, so they finally get 500 pieces of candy….

While the gang goes get the remaining candy, Wendy and Robby drive up and he tosses the candy behind him in bushes, turns out he accidentally tossed the candy down a ravine, whoops…..Mabel overheard that he was gonna go to a party with Wendy, that’s why Dipper tried asking about being sick…

They both argue, but they try to go stop people from turning out the melon lanterns….unfortunately the last melon lantern gets blown out, and then they see the figure walk to them under 1 single street light that’s flickering, he then asks where’s his candy…..he sees they don’t have it so he transforms into this giant version of himself with spider like legs…

Soos comes and saves them, they drive to the Halloween store where they hide from the monster, the monster eventually locates them….he takes his mask off revealing what he is….turns out he’s a giant pile of candy no one bothers to grab, he’s the candy that got tosses away every Halloween…

Whomp whomp, the episode ends with Soos of course being eaten but then he bursts through the creature’s chest eating some of him, uh eww….he tells him he tastes delicious….barf, the creature starts happy crying candy corn tears….because that’s all he wanted, to be told he tastes good….uh eww…

Gordy pops out saying I’m traumatized for life, yeah u, and me both Gordy….the episode ends with the gang eating candy around Gruncle Stan while they’re all watching TV, happy Summerween everyone….

But now let’s talk about the 7 episodes I wanted to talk about, actually scratch that I won’t be talking about all 7 of them, I’ll give a rundown of some….then talk about the rest in one rundown since the last 4 I wanna talk about is a 4 parter…

The first 2 I wanna talk about is a 2 parter at the end of season 1…it’s when Bill Cipher first appears, Gideon wants to get the deed to the Mystery Shack but it’s locked in a safe…so he summons Bill to go into Stan Pines head to get the code….

Something convinces Bill to help Gideon, as soon as he mentions Stan…..he’s like Stan Pines? Alright, deal. We’ll talk about details later….here’s that entire scene.

Anyways so both Mabel and Soos go back to warn Dipper and Stan who are at the Mystery Shack….because the 2 of them witness Gideon summoning Bill in the forest….also they witness Bill pull the teeth out of a deer and try to hang them to Gideon…

They get there, stans asleep….Dipper is dusting the room, the 2 of them come in and warm him they need to help Stan because Gideon summoned a triangle demon..

Dipper pulls out his book and says.

“Triangle guy, I think I’ve seen something like this before in the journal (flips pages) Beware, Bill, the most powerful and dangerous creature I’ve ever encountered (looks down at the right corner of the page) (words written in blood “Don’t summon at all costs!”) Whatever u do, don’t allow him into ur mind”.

Well, too late for that so they have to enter Gruncle Stan’s mind, by doing a chant in the book to enter his mind….

Anyway let’s cut to the end, so they stop Bill after he grabs the code….they tackle him which causes him to drop the paper into the void, this makes Gideon upset he tells him on call (don’t know how he called him from in the mind).

To tell him the deal is off, which makes Bill mad, so he becomes mad then turns big, then proceeds to try sucking them into him…but they defeat him because they realize If they’re are also in the mind then they have the same powers as Bill does here..he turns Mabel ugly, he shoots Dipper off the platform…but he flies back up because he had a talk with Gruncle Stan in his mind….

Stan tells him he’s in the mind he can think up anything and it will happen, so Dipper comes back…they start attacking him with powers they think up….then they try to summon him out of Stan’s mind…he tells them enough, they all enter a white void…he says y’all are better then y’all look, so I’ll leave u off the hook u might be useful one day..

Then the last thing he says is haunting to me.

“But know this, a darkness approaches. A day will come in the future when everything u care about will change. Until then I’ll be watching u, I’ll be watching you”

Also, he spawns in symbols over his head, one of the 6 fingered hand symbol….then he spawns in a symbol circle with these logos around it…1 of each resembling our main characters..

One of them is of the 6 fingered hand.

The second one is of a shooting star that’s on Mabel’s sweater.

The other is of the pine tree on Dipper’s hat.

Another one is of the split heart symbol on Robby’s hoodie.

Another one is of the eyeball symbol on Gruncle Stan’s fez.

The other one is the question mark on Soos’s shirt.

Anyway, the episode ends with them waking up, all happily…but they hear a ruckus in the backroom….they go investigate, it’s Gideon…he used a bulldozer his dad is using  to tear open the safe to get the deed to the Shack.

The episode ends with them standing outside and seeing Gideon using the bulldozer to tear down the Shack. Soos says someone tells me I’m dreaming.

Yes just listen to the haunting music during the end credits, something about it is foreboding…..

So long to the short for the next episode, they defeat Gideon and a giant robot he uses to chase Dipper and Mabel while they are leaving Gravity Falls….because he thinks Dipper has the other 2 books, but he doesn’t.

The giant robot falls onto the floor under a bridge that Gideon and Dipper are fighting on….everyone gathers around and this is where Gruncle Stan finally exposes to everyone that Gideon is evil…because up to this point, everyone in town thought he’s such a sweetheart. And a psychic.

But he reveals that the robot inside has cameras inside spying on everyone, he put a camera on there buttons he gave them…he’s been spying on them this whole time, dunn dunn dunn…so the entire town turns on Gideon, they arrest him and everything goes back to normal….he finally gets the deed back to the Mystery Shack…it also gets rebuilt.

The season ends with Stan taking Dipper’s book away from him to laugh at it…but we see that night he goes down a secret basement located behind the vending machine when he punches in a code….

He goes down there places all 3 books together, and flips the pages….which reveals a triangle shape…no, not Bill Cipher, this is a different thing…he then goes to to this lever and pulls it after punching in the codes he sees in all 3 books…it opens up a portal to somewhere…

He then says here we go, and that’s how Season 1 ended…ok this review is getting a bit long so I’m gonna split this review into 2 parts, join me over for part 2 where I’ll be reviewing the 2nd and final season of Gravity Falls….for now, hope y’all enjoyed this review
