The Adventures Of Young Indiana Jones

The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones: OK this is gonna be an odd review…a very niche review that’s for sure….so some y’all may not know (like me) but firstly here’s a trailer to show y’all what I’m talking about…

Yeah for anyone who didn’t know there was a show called The Adventure of Young Indiana Jones……this was made by George Lucas himself….which becomes abundantly clear that he produced this show….like very quickly…

In all honesty, I still don’t fully know who this show is aimed at…..u will see why when I start rambling on about this show, but let me give u a hint of an idea of what I’m talking about…

So the way George Lucas approached this show was by get this, having this show be a way to teach kids about culture (and I really wish I was kidding when I said this but remember this is what George Lucas said, I didn’t say it…he did) like teaching the musical art of Jazz to kids through this show…

Ah yes because Indiana Jones is just so well known for its musical jazz…like don’t u remember that time Indiana Jones took out a Nazi with a trombone? What’s that no? Well, neither do I because that’s never been a thing remotely ever associated with Indiana Jones….

So yeah like I said Idk who this show is aimed at, the whole Indiana Jones thing has been about archeology….last I checked jazz music and other cultural things that don’t relate to archeology had nothing to do with it….especially jazz music!

BTW here’s some fun Indiana Jones lore facts, did you know Indiana Jones served in the army during WW1? Yeah neither did I until I watched this show. It might explain where he got his mad skill to shoot enemies from.

So overall even though I do enjoy this show in parts which I’ll explain what I mean soon….I’ll give this show a solid 5/10….ok from here on out warning ⚠️ spoilers ahead, y’all been warned…

So where to begin, ahh ok so let’s firstly talk about how much this show feels authentic to Indiana Jones…..for the first I’d say the first season is around Indiana Jones as a small kid….now will u get any Indiana Jones vibes from him?

Doubt it, I mean I didn’t….not the kid’s fault it’s just he didn’t dress like Indy or convince me he was Indy….I’ll insert an image here so y’all can see what he looks like….

Now in all fairness, I wasn’t bored of this first season…..I just wasn’t impressed, most of this show just drags….often feels dull and lacking in any adventure that Indiana Jones is well known for….like very very little adventure is in this show…

Look no offense to the actor who plays toddler Indiana Jones but uhh there’s a reason why toddlers can’t act….they are toddlers….ok let’s move on to season 2…

So things do pick up a bit with season 2, I’m pleased to say we do get a better younger Indiana Jones…this time he’s in his early 20s, and he acts more like Indiana Jones….plus he has the iconic whip and fedora now…well that’s good.

Also, the actor said he got inspiration from the younger Indiana Jones in the first opening scene of The Last Crusade….that’s some good inspiration…..a good way to learn how to portray a younger Indiana Jones if I do say so myself….I’ll insert image of him here…

Also this time around we do get 2 characters that make a cameo, a younger Marcus Brody, and Indy’s dad Hnerey Jones Sr….but that’s really it as for the iconic characters appearing in this show…

But my issue again is the issue I had with the first season….this barely feels like an Indiana Jones story….the only thing that comes close to feeling like Indiana Jones is a portion of this season where Indy goes out to war….this is the closest we come to an Indiana Jones story because he is fighting off bad guys….

BTW here’s something interesting, Indiana Jones 4 does try to keep this show continuity intact in the Canon timeline by having Indy in the 4th film mention an event that happened in this show…..so the specific event I’m talking about is he’s blaming to Mutt in Peru when they land and he tells him about the time he got captured and rescued by a guy named Pancho Villa….

Which fun fact the 4th Indiana Jones film Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull referenced him when Indiana Jones is talking to Mutt Williams about how he learned to speak Peruvian dialog….they wanted to keep the show canon in the timeline, and I can respect that….I think?

Now it’s time to talk about the 3rd and final season oh boy……this right here is why I wanted to write a review on this show, also I’ll put an image of season 3 Indiana Jones so yall can see this version….because to me this season 3 version is the worst….oh boy forget about kid Indiana Jones not looking like or acting like Indiana Jones….

I think this guy takes the cake…..but let’s move on to the thing I wanted to talk about the most that’s in this season…..it’s the surprise cameo from Harrison Ford…..yes that’s right Harrison Ford appears in a single episode in this season, why?

So let’s talk about the episode, so in this episode, Harrison Ford appears as Indiana Jones in the modern day….here he has a beard for some reason….I’ll put an image here for y’all to see…

Anyway, he’s driving a native American in a car who is a friend of his we never saw before or heard of btw, Anyway they’re driving away from another car and shooting at them…why? Because the native American is holding a sacred relic of his men…a flute, ok then….so they’re driving through the snow, while one of the Indiana Jones themes plays…..

So they crash their car. So they head on foot until they find somewhere safe to lay low because a Strom is coming, they luckily find a cabin to hang out at until the storm dies off….so they light a fire, and Indy has his friend take a seat…

Indy notices a box in the corner and opens it, and this is where things officially get weird, he finds a saxophone in the box…he takes it out, sits down, and starts playing it…then he says this is a sacred relic of my time as well, this was considered an art….this reminds me of a job I use to do…

Which his friend says, u playing that I assume? Indy says “Nah I was a waiter, but that’s an art in itself “Oh boy hey everyone are y’all excited to hear about the wonderful adventures of a young Indiana Jones being a waiter? I’m just so excited can’t u tell….

So for the remaining time for this episode, we get to see Indiana Jones as a waiter…..who cares! Btw I think this is the perfect time for me to mention again that George Lucas said he used this show to teach kids about culture such as saxophone…..his words, are not mine, also what a weird IP to teach kids about culture and saxophones….

Anyway, the episode ends with the villains catching up to them. They take back the flute…the native American friend says to Indy they’re getting away…which Indy responds with sometimes we don’t get things we want….huh? That’s such a weird thing for Indy to say…then he sits back and plays the saxophone which causes snow on the roof to fall onto the bad guys…

Then he smiles and says and sometimes it does
…then they get up, grab the flute, and leave…..I think I’m done, I’m just done….im clearly not in the minority this show is aimed to…but my question I’d this who’s this show aimed too? It ain’t aimed for Indiana Jones fans that’s for sure….

Also forgot to mention we get an old man cooky Indiana Jones appear in this show…he’s wearing an eyepatch for some reason, has a cane, and is now just telling stories to kids….I’m sorry is this show canon or not? Especially after Indiana Jones 5? I’d say this show is canon since he references an event from the show in Indiana Jones 4…but after the 5th movie I have to wonder is this still canon?

Not my cup of tea, this show is bizarre….I hope y’all enjoyed the review….
