Rise of The Planet of The Apes: Let’s start off with showing y’all the trailers shall we?

Ohhhh snap I can’t wait to get into this movie series….so where to start…

Let’s start off with a warning ⚠️, full warnings ahead if some of y’all or many of y’all still get triggered by pandemic-type movies….then this Trilogy isn’t gonna be for u, in fact, I’d advise you to leave if even me talking about it or mentioning the word pandemic is triggering to some y’all…

Yeah, this Trilogy heavily relies on a pandemic that wipes out most of humanity….. that sound familiar? Hits too close to home? Again if that’s the case then I perfectly understand….this film Trilogy won’t be for everyone…not everyone has to like the same thing…

But I just wanted to warn y’all about that this Trilogy is darker than the OG Planet Of The Apes…from what I can tell….

Also, I thought I should clarify to everyone (including myself) that yes this rebooted Trilogy which starts off with this film, is both a prequel to the OG Planet of The Apes films…but also a reboot of sorts as well….a very soft reboot if u will……

Also, full disclosure I’ve never watched the original Planet of The Apes films….nor do I plan on doing so, I honestly just want to review this Trilogy because I personally find it to be an underrated Trilogy…

So here I am today to bring my perspective on this Trilogy, give some insights….give an overall opinion if u will….but first let’s get the rating out of the way…

So overall I gotta say I do enjoy this film….it’s an enjoyable film….I also want to mention that the director who directed this is named Rupert Wyatt….this guy right here kicked off something great in my opinion but I’m getting ahead of myself….

The only issue I did have with this film and it’s a minor issue, it’s that compared to the next films in this rebooted series…the CGI can look only slightly wonky in this film…it’s not bad or noticeable….but there’s something kinda slightly off….

So overall I’ll give this film a solid 8.5/10….I highly recommend it, right now it’s on Disney Plus/Hulu….ok from here on out warning ⚠️ spoilers ahead y’all been warned…

So this film’s plot starts with this guy named Will Rodman (played by James Franco) is working as a scientist for a company who’s working on a cure for Alzheimer’s….he’s especially invested because his dad (played by John Lithgow) has Alzheimers….

So the plot officially kicks in when one his scientist buggy named Franklin hands him a baby ape from a recent mother ape who got shot to death because she was being protective of her infant but the people there didn’t know that…they thought she just got hostile because of the tests they been doing on her to make her smart…

Oh yes also they’ve been testing the Alzheimers cure on Apes, it’s been making them smart for some reason….so Will takes the baby ape home who’s name Caesar…..he hesitantly promises to watch over Caesar until Franklin finds Caesar a new habit….uh huh sure let’s see how long that lasts..

So days turn into months and then years, and Caesar ends up getting raised by Franklin…..Caesar starts showing immense growth in smartness from a young age…..one day Caesar is looking out from his circular window from his room in the attic…he wants to go play with the kids…

He goes outside and gets injured so Will takes him to the vet to get checked…..so afterwards Will and the nurse hook up with each other because Caesar the ape thought he should have dinner with her….he tells Will that through sign language…

How did Caesar learn sign language? Easy Will taught him…so back at the scientist building, the higher-ups, one of them named Steve Jacob (played by David Oyelowo) demand them to cut corners and proceed with the cure faster so they can start making their money….

Ok, a lesson should be learned from this movie, never cut corners and force your developers to make (insert product name here) fast so u can make money ASAP…especially if it’s a cure that’s not been fully tested….

So they test the next form of the serum on an ape named Koba….this ape has been raised in the lab, tested on also experimented on…physically/emotionally scared…..he has a bit of a disdain for humans…yeah no shite Sherlock so would I if I were being experimented on for my whole life…

So during this test which Franklin is a part of….as they set off the test gas on the ape, Franklin doesn’t get his mask on time…uh oh, but then he gets it on which means he should be fine right? Right?

Well later on he has to leave while Will is discussing about the cure because during this conversation Franklin proceeds to sneeze on his clipboard… and then he notices stains of blood on his clipboard…..ohhhhhhh boy, yep he’s doomed…he just leaves, and doesn’t tell Will about earlier 臘…

Will steals some samples of the Alzheimers cure infection, takes it home starts testing it on his dad….things start going well he’s recovering and excelling…..one day Caesar sees Will’s dad arguing with the neither who’s pilot of a plane at a airport…so Caesar runs out attacks the neighbor…..uh oh…

This does bold well, Caesar gets sent to the zoo, and locked up in a cell….ohhh no, also the 2 important people there is the person in charge played by Brian Cox of all people…and one of his rude ass employees played by Tom Felton…yes that’s right Draco Malfoy is in this film….yeah, of course, of course he’s gonna play a douchebag….

So to no one’s surprise yes Tom Felton’s character does treat Caesar poorly….he constantly blasts hoses of water at him to torture him, yells at him a lot…calls him a damn dirty ape…..ohhhhhhh…..

BTW there’s a scene of a news on TV talking about how NASA lost the rocket with astronauts on board when they went to space…..yeah they vanished somewhere in space, this is a reference and possibly setting up to the OG timeline where the astronauts land back onto earth to find a Planet of Apes…

Anyways back to the plot, so remember that guy Franklin who got sick? Well he appears at Will’s home while Will isn’t home…so no one is answering his knocks at the door…here we see Franklin is pale, and also has blood drip under his nose….yeah he’s not looking well…he needs to talk to Will….

Unfortunately for him, he bumps into an A-hole neighbor whom he accidentally sneezes on… and he sneezes up blood onto the neighbor….uh oh, well Will I say u should leave that house now…u r Unfortunately now living right next to patient 1 who got sneezed on by patient 0….

So anyways back at the zoo, Caesar meets some apes….he meets

Maurice and some other apes….. he and Maurice get along, and eventually, Caesar starts planning on getting him and the Apes out of this confined space….

For now, he and the Apes get tortured by Draco, he shoots them hard with a water hose….u bastard, don’t hurt animals…

Later on, we see Franklin is found dead in his apartment….his housemaid finds him dead on the bed…..dun dunn dunnn, eventually the apes plan on breaking out….but they first have to deal with Draco’s character…..Draco pulls out a tazer stick….Caesar grabs his wrist…

Which causes the guy to say “Take ur paws off me u damn dirty apes” he said it! He said the line! Then Caesar casually says for the first time “NOOOOOO!”……gasps.

So anyway he takes the hose and shoots him with it which electrocutes him to death since he’s holding an electric stick…..

So the Apes make their way out, they make their way to the corporation building that made them, there Caesar frees every Ape including Koba…..ohhhhhh that’s a mistake that will come back to bite Caesar in the butt in the next movie…u mock my words…

Anyway, they make it to the Golden Gate Bridge, and so does Franklin…he goes to the bridge to try to make sure Caesar doesn’t get hurt…

So on the bridge, a fight out happens between the soldiers and the Apes, Caesar doesn’t want to kill any of these humans so he tries to have his Apes just knock them out only….bring no harm to the humans…..anyways the CEO helicopter crashes on the bridge on the side of it about to fall off into the ocean…..

As Koba approaches the helicopter, the CEO guy begs him not to kill him, but Koba uses his foot to push the helicopter into the ocean….oh damn!

Anyway film ends with Franklin meeting up with Caesar in the forest, he tells Caesar it’s time to go home…which Caesar whispers in his ear…Caesar is home…….Franklin says Caesar is home….then the apes climb up in the trees then look put at the distance….the end…..hope y’all enjoyed the review
