Dawn of The Planet of The Apes: Let’s start off with showing y’all the trailers shall we?

Woah! Well, we’re to begin, wait I know where to begin…..let’s get the rating out of the way before I dive into this film….

So overall, I F***king love this movie….y’all this is the film series that keeps on giving, the first film in this rebooted Trilogy was a banger but this one aww man it’s perfect….

I forgot to mention that Matt Reeves (yes Matt Reeves who went on to direct The Batman 2022 film) directed this film and the next film War For The Planet of The Apes…..this guy came in, and added more to the world-building/lore…..I cannot thank u enough, Matt Reeves…

So I’ll give this film a solid 10/10 I highly recommend it….right now it’s on Disney Plus/Hulu….ok from here on out warning ⚠️ spoilers ahead y’all have been warned…

Before the film’s plot starts we do get an opening montage of news reporters reporting on and showing footage of how the virus spread around the earth, where it spread around….and that it infected people…which started killing of humanity….

Anyone who got the virus is being treated and all that, also the reports are saying that the Apes caused all this…which isn’t even true at all…this is the government/corporations trying to cover their own asses since they accidentally created this virus….so they instead blamed it on the apes…making them seem like the bad guys…how dare u….

So this film’s plot picks up 10 years after the events of the last film….Caesar and his men haven’t seen humans for those 10 years….until one day when a small group of men who are led by a guy named Malcolm (played by Jason Clarke)….

They end up bumping into the group, when I say bumping i mean to say they encounter the apes….btw These apes are wearing white paint on their faces, white painted rib cages on their chests also a red mark on the forehead….I love the designs here…

So to no one’s surprise, Koba isn’t really trusting of these humans but uh Caesar is hesitant….he tells them to leave now……oh also I should quickly mention Caesar’s wife recently gave birth to a second son….yes, I did say second, he already has. The first son is named Blue Eyes….also Bule eyes has 3 scars on his chest due to a bear attack at the beginning of this film….not important…

What is though and I want u to keep this in mind for later, after the birth of their new son the wife is still in bedridden not doing so well…keep that in mind for later, anyways the group makes it back to their town….where we see the town is run by a mad man named Dreyfus (played by Gary Oldman)…

Yes, commissioner Gordon is in this film….. Anyway, the Apes follow suit on horseback….Caesar tells the humans “Apes wanna live!….humans! Don’t come where apes live! Don’t come back!”

Now does this convince Gary Oldman’s character and the town folks to leave them alone? Nope, unfortunately…..they think the apes will come back for a war….God humans are stupid, anyways they need power in the city because their power shut down…the only issue is the power source is in a damn located near Caesar’s campsite…

So Malcolm talks to Dreyfus, he asks him to give him and his group 3 days…they can go up there negotiate peacefully go turn the power back on….Dreyfus says I’m gonna go to the back with my men see what weapons we have available and we’re gonna go storm the woods for the apes…

3 days, u got 3 days If ur not back within 3 days…we will head out to go wipe out the apes…..so now Malcolm and his group head back to Caesar’s base even though Caesar told them not to…..whoops….

He asks them to allow them to go turn on the power in the damn, and Caesar reluctantly agrees….but Koba isn’t happy, he doesn’t trust the humans….hell he thinks Caesar is becoming too soft and trusting humans more over his own kind….

No the truth is he cares about both, anyways Koba has a plan he infiltrates the human place where he meets 2 drunk guards with machine guns…he starts acting like a stupid ape in front of them, and this is his first step into getting rid of the humans…gain their trust then grab their guns…I’ll explain why later….

So basically this rival starts happening in the group, Koba doesn’t trust Caesar…..and Caesar definitely doesn’t trust Koba….Anyways eventually Malcom turns on the power to the city….here we do see an emotional scene of Gary Oldman’s character looking at a Pic of his dead family…he starts breaking out crying….

See this is what I like about these 2 villains in this film, u understand where Dreyfus is coming from…he’s scared, he doesn’t want himself or the other people to be wiped out by the apes….so he wants to get rid of the apes before they get rid of them….

U can see where Koba is coming from, he has a major disdain for humans because all his life he’s been experimented on and tortured by humans in a laboratory….he only knows hate, and he has PTSD basically….in a way u can sympathize with him…but doesn’t mean u have to like him either…

Anyways to summarize the middle portion of this film….let’s see uh Caesar and Koba have some beef……the woman nurse helps give birth to Caesar’s wife…..then helps cure her because she’s sick….

Eventually, Caesar tells the group they gotta leave because his son finds a gun in one of the group bags…because one of them is paranoid and keeps a gun with him if he has to use it……gosh and after everything the apes have done for them…

So they start heading back to their car, unfortunately, that night at Caesar’s camp Koba starts a cue and shoots Caesar out of a tree…then sets the entire ape home on fire, then proceeds to blame it on the humans…that they did this and killed Caesar, oh wow what a piece of shite he is…

Anyway the gang finds Caesar nearly dead on the floor, and they end up carrying him to the car……Caesar tells them Koba did this, not an ape…..unfortunately though Koba and the Apes including Caesar’s son have gone to attack the town….uh oh…

So the gang heads to a house to heal up Caesar’s wounds….turns out the house there used to be the house Caesar grew up in the first movie…..love this it’s bringing emotions back, anyways Malcolm goes into town and finds Caesar’s son, he lets him live…then Malcolm tells him his father is alive….

Luckily for Malcolm, this ape was already questioning Koba because he had just a few minutes ago seen Koba toss one of the Apes to their death over a couple of flights of stairs because the ape disagreed with him…..

So he heads back with him, he sees his dad is injured…..Caesar clarifies that it was Koba who did this not humans…

So after Caesar heals up he goes upstairs to the attic where he was born, he looks through a videotape of him and Franklin…wow that camera must be amazing because the battery still works a decade later….also we get to see that circular window of his again…..

Malcom comes up and asks who was that on the camera? Which Caesar responds with a good man, like u…..so then they head out to go stop Koba…..they have to sneak through the sewers…..Malcolm hears Gary Oldman’s character and he tells the apes to go up the other way, he will continue forward and distract Dreyfus…..so anyways Malcolm finds out Dreyfus is setting up explosions underneath this smoke tower where the apes are at…

He plans to blow it up and to end the apes once and for all, but Malcom is against this so he aims a machine gun at Dreyfus….he tries explaining it to Dreyfus but he says they attacked us first!! Malcom says that’s cause they they thought he was dead…..yeah ok Malcom if ur gonna defend the apes, the least u could do is be clearer…

Who’s he? Because to Dreyfus, he means nothing to him because he doesn’t know who he’s referring to specifically….

Anyways Caesar goes and frees Morris and the others who refused to join Koba, so he had them locked up in a cage…so Caesar frees them….they catch up to Koba and the others who are all standing at the top of the smoke tower…

Anyways I love the banter both Koba and Caesar have….

Koba: Caesar is weak!

Caesar: Koba weaker

Ohhhhhhhh snap!

So then they both fight against each other, 1 will live the other will die…who’s fit to be leader?

So while that fight goes on, Dreyfus tells Malcolm even if u could stop me, it doesn’t matter because I already contacted the military…they’re on their way here……then Dreyfus takes the detonator and blows up the tower including himself…..

The explosion harms some of the apes including Morris, Koba is now hanging off the side of a railing over a giant pit…..Caesar walks up to him, and Koba has the balls to even say “Apes don’t kill apes” u bastard…

Anyways Caesar reaches to give him his hand, but then Caesar looks up at Morris holding his head in pain….then Caesar looks back at Koba and says “You are not Ape” ohhhhhhhhhhhh!

Then he lets Koba go, and he drops down to his death….all while screaming noooooooo! Ughhhhhhhh! Ahhhhhhhhh!

Anyway the film ends with Caesar telling Malcolm he and his friends need to leave before the military comes…..Malcom tries telling Caesar he needs to leave as well, otherwise a war will come to them….which Caesar says the war started years ago…..

Ohhhhhhh, then the film ends on Caesar looking out at the crowd of Apes…..the end, I hope y’all enjoyed the review….
