Fallout Amazon Prime Show: Let’s start by showing y’all the trailers shall we?

So firstly I wanna start by mentioning that I’ve never played a single Fallout game like ever, so this show is my introduction into the world of Fallout….with that out of the way Let’s get the rating out of the way so I can get into spoilers….

Overall I freaking loved this show its freaking amazing, Amazon Prime u nailed it with this one…I was worried at first because usually, video game adaptations can be a hit or a miss…

Especially the last few video game adaptations being a hit or a miss, those would be

Halo

Uncharted

Yeah those 2 were definitely a miss….but u nailed it right out of the park on Amazon Prime….u had me at hiring Walton Goggins in a role in this show….that guy is an underrated actor if u ask me…

Fun fact btw Walton Goggins never played a Fallout game before, yet he still took on the role in this show……funny how that works…also this is now his second role in a video game adaptation….he was also in the 2018 Tomb Raider movie, which in my opinion his presence bumped up that movie a little bit higher for me….

Overall I’ll give this show a solid 10/10….I highly recommend it….

Oh btw the director confirmed this show is canon in the Fallout game lore…..so keep that in mind..

So where to begin, well the story of this show opens up by showing us the past in like the 1950s I think, where Walton Goggin’s character Cooper Howard is performing as a cowboy at a child birthday party with his daughter there….his daughter asks does he thinks the nukes will be set off? Which he says I sure as heck hope not…..

Just then while the party is going on in the distance 3 nukes go off, uhh ohhhh….so we see Goggins and his daughter run off and everyone is running….do they make it? Well, we cut to the modern day in a vault…..I think it’s Vault 32 but they said in this show so many times Vault 32, vault 33, back and forth too often that I’m now not sure which vault this is…

Anyways we now follow our main character Lucy Maclean (played by Ella Purnell) who has such a privileged life down there with her dad Hank Maclean (played by Kyle Maclachlan) aka the overseer….along with her younger brother Norm Maclean (played by Moises Arias) (u might remember this actor from the hit Disney Channel show Hannah Montana, were he played the character Rico)….

People in the vaults wear this blue jumpsuit with a yellow line across the chest downwards…

Anyway the plot of this show kicks in when Lucy gets set up for a blind marriage from some man in vault 33, but turns out the people in the vault are Raiders….so after the wedding they Raid the place, kill most of the vault 32 people…..the leader of the Raiders take Hank Maclean with them….

So now Lucy wants to head out to go find her dad, but the council won’t allow her, but her friend who’s a boy opens the door for her to leave…her brother helps as well, so she makes it out but unfortunately for her brother and the friend they get caught…now they’re fate is left up to the council…

Also I won’t be describing each episode scene by scene but I wanted to say that episode 1’s ending got me hooked, these bounty hunters wake up Walton Goggins the ghoul from his grave…..

Here we see the ghoul, he has a missing nose, no hair, and looks like he got burned due to radiation…he’s also wearing the same cowboy hat he was wearing in the beginning back flash scene, also he’s now wearing a brown trench coat…

They tell him this can be his last gig, which he says normally when people say that it means they didn’t have their heart fully into it…he kills them off and takes the gig…..

BTW there’s a side story about this guy named Maximus (played by Aaron Moten) he joins this group called the Brotherhood of Steel…..it’s this cult who are the law who try to bring the law back to the world….also if ur knighted in the group u get to wear this big bulky armor called the T-60 Armor….

Anyway one of his friends gets to become a squire….Maximus gets jealous….the next day his friend wakes up with a bad injury on her foot in her boot….so Maximus gets to become squire.

He becomes the squire under a knight named sir Titus, at first he treats Maximus shitty…..he has him clean the armor on his crotch, he’s respected as this knight….but as soon as they land and they locate a cave….they accidentally come across a bear in the cave….which leads to one my favorite moments…

Knight Titus becomes a coward and runs out of the cave screaming F***k F****k f***k f****k…..

Lolo, what a disgrace he is, anyways he gets mauled by the bear……Maximus shoots the bear, and he takes Titus’s helmet off, Titus is still being rude saying this is all Maximus’s fault….all while asking him to get him a stem kit to heal himself….but Maximus lets Titus die because he’s about to die…

Then he takes the armor then wears it….uh oh

So in the above world, Lucy quickly discovers that not everyone is friendly….but she does run into this random guy named Wilzeg, along with his dog….he tries to warn her to go back home she’s not prepared for out here….

Lucy doesn’t listen and proceeds to go forward the next day after the night…she finds a town, where she tries to go ask a store owner….the store owner won’t say a thing, she mentions the name of the woman who stole her dad Lee Moldaver….the woman knows who she’s talking about but tells her to go home….

She explains that no one here likes people from the vault, it’s for a bunch of rich people even though Lucy thinks they’re gonna help everyone and save people…..what a load of rubbish, anyways Lucy bumps into Wilzeg and his dog…turns out he’s made an audience with this store woman to help smuggle him to safety to the same woman that Lucy is going after….

Because he has something important to them, something he inserted into his neck…..anyways the ghoul shows up and threatens to take the guy because he’s the bounty he’s going after….the guy hesitates so the ghoul shoots the guy’s foot off….yikes…

So then Knight Maximus shows up to fight the ghoul after the ghoul does a shootout against the town folks and is about to shoot Lucy……I do love Walton Goggin’s dialog in this show….he sees the knight and he says u gotta be Fucking kidding me…..

He also eventually insults the guy saying u control that like ur pushing a shopping cart….all while Lucy and the store lady are putting a robotic leg onto the guy, she hands the guy over to Lucy she tells her to take him to this specific place to the same place she’s heading to…if she gives him in exchange she can get her father back….so she agrees to take this man and his dog…

Oh right, I forgot the ghoul killed the dog, oh right the dog dies temporarily, dont worry dog lovers he doesn’t stay dead….I was also hurt by that scene as well….so Lucy and the guy leave. The ghoul busts Maximus’s suit causing him to fly off….

Walton Goggins decides to revive the dog so the dog can track Lucy and the guy to lead him to them, so anyways the guy eventually eats a cyanide pill he talks about how it’s weird these weren’t as popular….they made it to taste good like grape, he asks Lucy to cut his head off…all they need is his head….she first refuses to…

He then mentions her last name and she says how do u know me? But he’s dead now, so she takes the saw he gave her and she says okie dokie, and cuts the guy’s head off….

Before I get back to the main story and do a summary, there’s a side story revolving around Lucy’s brother….I’ll give the abridged version of what happens….

1.  The council gives him a job to be a guard for the prisoners who have been put in prison…

2. They demoted Lucy’s guy friend from being the gate opener…

3.  A neighbor woman who’s pregnant and now lost one eye, also lost her husband to the Raiders, soon ASAP falls in love with the guy and makes him the new dad….okay then..

4.  They vote for a new president, a woman named Betty who is close to Lucy and her family…wins the votes and becomes president…

5.  The vault council wants to train the readers to become one of them. But Lucy’s brother is against it…understandably…but they want to treat them nicely I guess…

6. The brother is told by one of the Raiders that Vault 33 is anything but innocent, so he and the friend guy go investigate Vault 33…where they find everyone is dead, they either killed each other or something happened….

7.  Lucy’s brother becomes suspicious of the council and the people he knows…..

That’s everything for now….there’s more I’ll reveal later….

So eventually the ghoul catches up to Lucy, he wants the head but it was taken away by a mutant fish creature….so he uses her as bait…..that doesn’t go well, and he’s running out of these liquid viles he inhales…he needs them or else he turns into a feral ghoul….so a zombie….

Anyway, they go visit a friend who’s turning into a ghoul, he doesn’t have any vials…so the ghoul puts the guy out of his misery….

See this is what I like about this show, the show humanizes the villains…..in this scene, he has pity for his friend who’s about to turn into a ghoul fully, so he tries talking to him about the good old days, relating to Mac and cheese and ice cream….then he puts his friend out of his misery as a mercy kill…..

Then he goes to trade Lucy in at a business at a store, in return for the vials….on the way there she bites some of his fingers off so in return he cuts his finger off….then proceeds to say this right here I the closest we’ve had to an honest exchange….God I love Walton Goggin he brings a specific charm to this role….

Before I continue let’s talk about the rest of Maximus’s side plot…

1.  He almost loses his armor to Raiders but he ends up killing them, one of them he squashed open the guy’s head like a watermelon…

2.  The Brotherhood contacts him thinking Titus is still alive, so Maximus is stupid he impersonates Titus he tells them that his squire Maximus died….oh boy can’t wait to see how long it takes for this to come back to bite him in the butt…

3. They send him a new squire whose name is Thaddeus, Maximus has some fun pretending to be Titus and makes Thaddeus do things for him all because this guy bullied Maximus for a while….yeah don’t u know the best way to end bullying is to bully people back? I mean IT Chapter 2 taught people that…. Christ that movie was dumb…..

4. Eventually both of them retrieve the head from the fish creature after killing it….before it almost ate Thaddeus alive…

5. Thaddeus finds out that Titus isn’t Titus but he’s instead Maximus, after a specific night in a cave where he asks him to brand his neck and knight him….which he does so but for some reason he reveals his dace to him revealing it’s Maximus and not Titus….so stupid..

6.  Thaddeus leaves with the head along with the power core in the back of Maximus knight suit which allows him to control the suit….so now he’s stuck there in one place. Dunn Dunn dun…

So back to Lucy, she enters the building that the ghoul takes her to which so happens to be an abandoned store, then the ghoul collapses…..so when she enters and as she turns a corner in the building…

This 3-eyed floating robot appears whose name is Snip Snip….and I love this dialog between them….

Snip Snip: welcome.

Lucy: what the fudge?

Snip Snip: fudge? There’s no fudge here, only a general atomics international Mark 4 that’s what I am. U seem to be a woman….

Btw I jumped in excitement when I heard the robot voice, I recognized him it was the comedian Matt Berry….the guy is such a funny actor, he plays Laszlo in my favorite show What We Do in The Shadows…the guy is hilarious there……I highly recommend that show as well, fair warning that the show is raunchy and has loads of cussing, as well as sexual dialog….

Anyway, he notices that Lucy is missing a finger so he takes her into the operation room to attach a new finger to her, so now she’s all healed up…he offers her some cotton clothes…

Then Lucy says You’re treating me so nice, I thought when I came in here I was gonna be sold as a sex slave….which I love Snip Snip reaction….

“Sex slave? Yuck what a disgusting awful idea, no I’m simply gonna harvest ur organs” Pffftt only Matt Berry could make that dialog sound professional all while weirder than it sounds….

BTW to show u an idea of how funny Matt Berry is, I wanna share with u this small clip from this show I discovered called The IT Crowd, btw is a warning to people who can get triggered (pun completely unintended, u will know what I mean if u watch the clip) this scene is dark humor…..

I think it would been controversial if this show aired in America but luckily it’s a British show….. Anyway, role clip….

“I don’t think I’ve ever looked in this drawer (Proceeds to open drawer) wow a gun!”…..

I swear with Walton Goggin in this show, and now Matt Berry…..I was, of course, gonna give this show a solid 10 out of 10 even if the writing was horrible, luckily it wasn’t…..btw if y’all are wondering why I’m not talking about Walton Goggin’s back flash storyline? Don’t worry I will near the end when I get to the plot twist, so I can summarize the events that led to it via the back flash scenes….

So anyways Matt Berry’s robot is funny as hell, so as he tries to cut her open with a razer while Lucy is tied to a table….she breaks out and electrocutes the robot using rifibulater on the robot…..which causes him to malfunction…

So anyway she proceeds to go demand the 2 men in charge to release the test subjects in the cases, they do that including the ghouls because Lucy demands it….

After killing the ghouls she goes back out to Walton Goggins the ghoul and asks so if u don’t take these vials, u become hostile? He nods yes, so she leaves him some vials. Even though he’s been anything but nice to her…..this right here is the start of him slightly regaining some form of humanity…

So eventually Lucy bumps into Maximus, and he notices she is suffering from poison because she drank dirty water….he offers her a stem kit he has in his suit if she lets him out of the suit….

She first is reluctant but then she agrees…..so he gives her the stem pack, and they team up to go get the head back from his squire who has left….luckily the squire can’t get too far because Maximus steps on his foot while in the suit which damaged Thaddeus foot like pretty badly….

Also, there’s a subplot involving them finding vault 13 I think, I’ll skip over it….besides I want there to be at least 1 thing in this show that I won’t mention so y’all can experience yourself….trust me this 2 episode subplot gets kinda weird…..

So eventually the 2 of them catch up to Thaddeus, unfortunately, he’s becoming a ghoul….how? Well not too long back he bumped into the same chicken Rappest that Maximus saved earlier….the guy offers him a serum to cure his foot which it does….

But what he doesn’t tell Thaddeus is that the serum he gave him was a chemical that well heals u luckily but unfortunately, over time the spam of decades will turn him into a ghoul….

So how does Maximus know Thaddeus is now a ghoul? Easy because Thaddeus accidentally triggers a land trap that shoots an arrow through his kneck….he survives and it wonders how. So after finding out he’s a ghoul, they see the Brotherhood is coming in a helicopter about to land….

Thaddeus hands over the head to them so they can buy him time, which Maximus offers….Thaddeus thanks them and apologizes for how he treated Maximus…

So Maximus gives Lucy to head and tells her to go get her father, trade Moldaver the head in exchange for her father…..he will take another random smashed-in head to the Brotherhood and pretend it’s the correct head to buy her time….how thoughtful.. anyways they both kiss, then we pan down to the 2 heads in both their arms also kissing…..yes, I did just say the 2 severed heads are kissing….this show is bizarre…

BTW the ghoul makes it to a gas station where he finds the dog in a Nuka Cola fridge (Nuka Cola is Fallouts equivalent toCoca-Cola) also Thaddeus put the dog in that fridge…he was getting annoyed by the dog…..shame….luckily the ghoul is there, he frees the dog and takes the dog with him…so now this dog is his, yes yes yes!!

So Maximus brings the fake head to the Brotherhood, and they almost execute him because they still think he hurt his friend’s ankle and u know also pretending to be Titus….but his friend steps up and admits she hurt her ankle she was scared to go into the field….

The Brotherhood leader says u don’t see loyalty like that these days, so he has his men cease fire…..Maximus tells the leader behind closed doors about what’s been going on, that Titus was a coward…he ran instead of fought….

Heck even the leader agrees, he says we’ve been losing the respect and power we once had…u and I can bring back power and respect to the Brotherhood……so now Maximus is back in…but first they go head out to help Lucy..

So Lucy makes it to where her dad is being held, in a cage in a tower….she trades the head to Moldaver, and they extract the thing out of the head…turns out to be some kinda liquid that can cause a nuclear war…..she asks her to release her father, so Moldaver agrees but she says first do u want to know how I know ur dad?

BTW back to Lucy’s brother, so he eventually finds what’s behind vault 32…..he also finds a brain in a jar on wheels guarding the door….uhhhh what? Yeah and the brain says u cannot enter now I’m gonna have to kill u…but of course the brain can barely move properly so his aim is off…so he tells him to stand still and let me kill u hold on….lol

The brother heads to the door, while the brain follows behind him, he then starts blabbering on about this room…the brother asks what’s in here? Which he says u will never find out…then the brother turns on the lights and the brain says oh never mind he’s gonna find out….again this brain was put in charge of guarding this room, why?

Anyway turns out the room has these cryotubes that are holding people inside, especially the important people of Vault Tech….the plan is to wake them up in several hundred years when the time is correct, so then the brain sneaks off to the panel closes the door…locking the brother in here….he tells him u has seen too much u can’t leave….

The brother says let me out, the brain says I’d get cozy if I were u…u will be here for a very long time until the time is right for those people to be awakened…which the brother says that’s could be hundreds of years! Which the brain says exactly….I’d recommend going sleep in one of the cryotubes you will definitely run out of food and water soon and we have none down here….

So now the brother is locked in there forever dunn dunn dunnn, well glad to know at least that Vault 33 was hiding something, oh did I also forget to mention Vault 33 cleared and cleaned up Vault 32 so people can move in there as well…it’s like one giant cover-up…

Now it’s time to talk about the Walton Goggins back flash, via storyline, I’ll do a summary of each scene the way I did when talking about Lucy’s brother subplot….

1. The ghoul used to be this actor named Cooper Howard, he also had a wife named Barb Howard, along with their daughter and a pet dog…Cooper Howard was a Hollywood actor….he’s mainly a cowboy actor

2.  Also we find out that Howard Cooper was the thumbs-up logo guy for Vault Tech….they used his to market their company…..yeah I’m surprised as y’all arr that Walton Goggins character is the Fallout logo guy with his thumbs-up…

3. Also Cooper was asked by a friend who believes vault tech is evil, to join in on one of their meetings…so he does so, he joins and listens to Moldaver who’s doing a speech at a church….wait so Moldaver is also here as well. Yep

He gets up and says I can’t stand this bullshite, she explains to him secretly that his wife is one of the main vault tech people who decides what happens at vault tech….she’s not to be trusted…so she hands him a listening piece to put in his ear, she says u will need it…if u want to find out about it wife….

4. Cooper is starting to feel less enthusiastic about Vault Tech because it turns out that they are making it so that dogs won’t be allowed to come into the vaults…but who came up with that rule? Also, he doesn’t want to be forced to wear those blue jumpsuits he thinks he can wear whatever he wants….it’s his right….but his wife gives him the whole I’ve worked hard to get us into the good vault, to keep u and our daughter alive…

Uh-huh, news flash when someone answers back using that, it usually means they’re hiding something…..

Oh also we find out Cooper Howard’s friend played by Matt Berry gets used to being the voice of the 3 eyed floating robot…..so he lends his voice to the robot…got it…

Anyways Cooper Howard decides to listen to Moldaver, so on a specific morning he drives his wife to work…..as soon as she leaves and heads into the building, he stays behind in the car and then places the earpiece to listen in to the meeting….but the distance is too far so he decides to head into the building and wait in an office room….

So when he gets in, one of the secretaries tells him this guy named Mr. Henry wants to come to say hi to him because he’s a big fan…he’s just finishing up a meeting but will come to say hi soon…..so he sits down, places the piece in his ear and starts listening in on the meeting…..

So what he hears will forever change him forever, so he starts hearing the board people coming up with ideas on how to come out as the only company above everyone else….so they can make more profit, plus so no other companies steal their ideas and do what they are doing first before them……so then Cooper Howard’s wife says she’s here to talk about the future….

She imagines a future where her daughter and husband are safe and can live on, ok things are sounding good so far….she says I have a way got us to get results….the board asks and how u plan on doing that? Role clips

“By dropping the bombs ourselves”

Gasps!! She’s a monster as well, so she’s the one who came up with the idea to nuke the world….well this puts the Fallout games in a new perspective….anyways she says when we come out on top that will be a true monopoly…also que second plot twist

“Mr. Howard, huge fan. My name is Henry but everyone calls me Hank”

Dunnnnnnn! It’s Lucy’s father! He was also a part of Vault Tech as well……so much for him being a good father, also did I forget to mention he’s over 200 years old? Yep…

Anyway he also asks for Mr. Howard’s autograph…because he’s a fan…..this entire plot twist got me, I was surprised, I did not see that coming…..so now Lucy knows the truth, so she demands her father give Moldaver the code to access the liquid she attracted out of the head…..so he gives her the code, and wallah the liquid gets finalized and is now a fully-fledged explosive liquid that can definitely cause chaos if put in the wrong hands…..

Also Lucy asks what happened to her mother, Moldaver says I think u know…then eyes the corner of the room, Lucy looks over and sees this ghoul corpse sitting in a chair….its her mom….she got killed, how does she recognize its her? Because she’s wearing the same necklace her mom wore….

Hank reveals that he killed her, again father of the year aren’t I right? He says I loved ur mom, bur she stopped being ur mom when she left me and took u and ur brother…..what a piece of shite, this guy is looney….so let me get this straight he murdered his own wife for leaving him with they’re kids…then he took his kids back forcibly? Great any other secrets he’s hidding?

So anyways Moldaver leaves, and Lucy is standing there in shock at her father…the person she thought she knew but now knows he’s a genocidal maniac…..just then a T-60 Power Armor comes walking in with no head, then collapses on the floor…then Maximus enters the room and goes to the cage to open it up….

Sighhhhh, Maximus u really are a F**k up, anyways role clip for the rest of this scene..

Lucy tells him she’s not going anywhere with that man, then she explains that he’s the one who dropped the nukes….which makes Maximus realize what he has just done, and then he turns around to see Hank in a Power Armor suit….uh oh, then Hank knocks out Maximus….

Hank demands Lucy come with him back home. But she aims a gun at him….he tells her u won’t shoot me, just then a shot hits him in the face from the other side of the room….it’s Cooper Howard….yayyyyy, He says u want another autograph young Henry? When I heard ur daughter is a Maclean…well I didn’t imagine it was the Maclean…I had to see it for myself…

I’ve been waiting a long time to ask one important question (times gun at Henry) where’s my F***king family? That right there is the ghouls character in a nutshell when it comes to this show…..his main purpose is to find his family….I assume he wants revenge on his wife for well nuking the world….

Anyway Henry flies away, and Cooper Howard offers Lucy a choice, either she can stay here with her undead mother….which in that case they will be both killed by the Brotherhood…or has can come with him to go meet her makers, because according to Cooper….ur bloodline and the choices that were made for u was chosen hundreds of years ago by greedy corporations….

So Lucy shoots her mom putting her out of her misery, then follows the ghoul…..anyways Maximus wakes up realizes Lucy isn’t there anymore, but then Moldaver enters injured…she takes a seat near the corpse and dies…just then the Brotherhood enters, his friend says u killed Moldaver? Then lifts his hand up and says all hail Maximus…..so all the knights chant his name….

So Maximus is knighted, Lucy’s brother is trapped in a vault room….Lucy and Howard Cooper and the dog head out to go find Hank….where do they head out to? Well to Las Vegas…the show ends with Hank making it to Las Vegas which is all post apocalyptic abandoned….and he’s staring at it….that’s how the show ends…

That’s a clever way to end on a cliffhanger, luckily they renewed this show for a season 2 recently so I’m happy about that….I highly recommend this show, especially if u have Amazon Prime….I hope y’all enjoy the review
