Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory

Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory: Let’s first start by showing y’all the trailer shall we? To this timeless classic

Yeah I’m gonna start off by mentioning that I never started off with this film…that was a missed opportunity…..about the only thing I knew about this movie was the Candyman song, mainly because that scene kept playing in candy stores that I went into as a kid, that’s about the only knowledge I had of this movie for a long time….I’ll be posting images here of Willy Wonka and The Oompa Loompas

So let’s get the rating out of the way, so of course, you all know this is getting a 10/10. I mean, it’s a classic. I just feel ashamed I never got around to seeing this movie earlier than I did

Anyway, enough blabbering, so quiet up, listen down, no wait, Scratch that, reverse it…and let’s get into the spoilers, shall we?

So in this movie, Wonka sends out multiple random golden tickets to different candy stores, a total of 5 golden tickets, and whichever random kid gets a hold of the golden ticket gets access to go into his chocolate factory….all five random kids, plus their family…which they will earn a special prize at the end…what is this special prize yall wondering? Well, get to that later…

For now, we have to listen to the Candy Man song played at a candy store that the store manager is singing to a group of kids….

You’re welcome now. Good luck getting that jingle out of your head….anyways a group of kids who are named

Veruca Salt

Violet Beauregarde

Augustus Gloop

Mike Teevee

Then one more kid finds the last golden ticket. His name is

Charlie Bucket…he’s part of a household of poor people… their house looks on the brink of collapsing, and all the older relatives lie in one giant bed that covers up the middle of the room…… It seems like a safety hazard if you ask me….so he finds the last golden ticket in a chocolate bar…he takes it home and shows it to his whole family as he opens up the chocolate bar….

He ends up getting the golden ticket, which, I kid you not, causes his Grandpa to get up and dance….huh funny, I thought he couldn’t move? So yeah, he dances, I guess he’s really excited…

Anyways, they head to the factory and meet up with the other kids at the gate….then the gate opens up to Gene Wilder Willy Wonka walking out with a cane and a limp…he strolls up to them, then stops and falls forward. He does a role and stands back up (cue the applaud)

In this film, Wonka has blonde curly hair, a brown top hat, a tan tie, a multi-colored pink/brown dotted shirt, tan pants, brown shoes, a purple jacket, and lastly, his cane….

Yeah, Gene Wilder only agreed to this role on the condition he’s allowed to do this scene like this…because, in his own words, Willy Wonka is supposed to be the type of character you have no idea what he will do next…he’s a loose Canon if you will. So it makes sense he does an introduction like this…

Ah, very clever Gene Wilder, very smart… Anyway, for the next entire middle act, I’ll just do an abridged version of what happens to each kid…because we all know what happens to them

• first to go is Augustus Gloop. When they enter the factory, they visit the main attraction, a giant room filled with candy-made biomes…including grass and all that, and a chocolate river….Augustus Gloop goes for the river, but he falls into it….then he gets sucked up a tube…then the green-haired and orange-skinned Oompa Loompas come out and do some work by pouring sugar bags into the chocolate river

Cue the Oompa Loompa song

“Doompety-Doo”

Sorry, I had to do that….

BTW quickly wanna mention, there’s a scene that scared everyone as a kid where they ride down the Chocolate River on a boat. They enter the tunnel where these rapid flashing lights with rapid random images start appearing around them…while Wonka is acting weird as usual, while everyone on the boat seems in shock…yeah understandable

So now, onto victim…sorry, I meant kid number 2….

• Violet Beauregarde is next, so they go into another room, which is the factory itself…..she notices some gum being made…she decides to take one and starts chewing on it..she says it has different flavors, one of which is described as blueberry…yeah turns out thus gum is an experimental gum that supposed to be any or every flavor…..then it happens

Violet Beauregarde starts swelling up and turns blue, so she just turned into a blueberry…yeah, it turns out the gum was experimental….yeah she shouldn’t have eaten it….

• Next up is Mike Teevee, so they enter an electronics room…where Mike goes up to a machine that can shrink things, including humans, to send them into the television for some reason…..and Mike well being Mike decides to go against Wonka’s warning of not going into the machine, but he does so anyways…

Also, I love that you can just tell Wonka doesn’t care about these kids…when Mike runs to the machine, Wonka says in an expressionless, emotionless way…” no…stop, come back.” Lolo I Crackup every time

So he gets teleported into the TV, and Wonka takes Mike out of the TV and sends him off with the Oompa Loompas to get him fixed…..

• Next is Veruca Salt, so they head to the room where he has squirrels who break nuts to determine if it’s terrible nuts or good nuts, if it’s a bad nut, the squirrels toss the nuts down a swirl trash bin….ok seriously, why does Wonka have a room filled with squirrels? Why are the squirrels his testers? Why am I asking all these questions!?

So now Wonka sends the Oompa Loompas to go to the trash compactor to retrieve Veruca Salt.

• So now lastly there’s Charlie Bucket…..well we already know how this goes, so Charlie is left which means he won right? Well according to Wonka in the backroom (while showing the fine prints on the contract) “u won nothing! I said good day sir!”…..

Yeah did Wonka lie about there being a prize at the end? Or is he truly a whacko? Ehhh doesn’t matter. It turns out this was one giant test, which Charlie ended up passing…so now he’s won, and the prize is he can now run the chocolate factory instead of Wonka while Wonka steps down and kinda retires…but of course Charlie doesn’t accept, I mean he’s a kid after all…

So now I’m confused in this Wonka world, can kinda get jobs as a boss of an organization?

But don’t worry, he doesn’t entirely deny the offer, and he says when he gets older, he will happily run the factory…. so there’s a positive…..so, uh happy ending….which doesn’t surprise y’all. I mean, this is a family-friendly film. It wasn’t going to end with Wonka murdering all the kids, then proceeding to put their bodies into his chocolate…then making sure his enslaved Oompa Loompas didn’t say a word….

I think I just created a dark fan fic of Willy Wonka…..that or I helped move it along, lolo…

So I really wish I got around to watching this film a lot sooner than I did….but I’m glad I eventually got around to watching it…overall I highly recommend this timeless classic if y’all haven’t checked it out yet…..

Hope y’all enjoyed this review, plz share it with people u know….thanks.
