The Magnus Archives part 2:

That’s right we’re back for a part 2….I realized that in the grand scheme of things I didn’t describe enough about the show, I gave yall the bare minimum of information….now it’s time for us to get more spoilers, so welcome to part 2….I’ll be doing a part 3 down the line later on, but for now here’s part 2….so without further a due let’s get into the review shall we?

First here’s the rating, as last time I’m still gonna give this podcast a solid 10/10….I still highly recommend it…now warning massive spoilers….

So starting with the ending of season 1, the gang is just at the archives doing their normal shite until these parasitic worms (who were first found and mentioned in one of the archive’s stories Jonathan Sims came up upon earlier this season) come through the walls, infest the whole building……now our main characters

Have to find a way to get out of the building without being consumed by the parasites, also if y’all wondering where Tim is? Well, he shows up soon….so they are panicking, Daisy and Martin get separated from Jonathan….then all of a sudden guess who comes to help them, it’s Tim…and I just love Tim’s reaction….he doesn’t seem scared or concerned parasitic worms is swarming the building….he’s reaction is just normal and all like hey sorry I was late I was busy….he does give off the vibes of I don’t care…..so anyways Martin accidentally stumbles upon a secret underground basement hidden behind some shelves…..

So eventually the worms do Perish, so that situation is over…..Martin is still exploring the mysterious basement he found which goes on for a long while, it’s like a maze down there….but just ahead he eventually finds a secret room with a dead person in a chair…it is Jonathan Sims previous archivist Gertrude Robinson….. dun  dun  dun, Martin finds evidence that she died down there by the hands of someone else…he sees like a bullet wound on her…..double dun Dunn…

So now Jonathan Sims is having trouble trusting anyone at the Magnus Archives because he isn’t sure if any one of them killed Gertrude Robinson, and If so why? And how long she’s been down there? That leaves off at the end of season 1…..so in season 2 Jonathan Sims starts to become very detached from his group, he’s not trusting of them…I mean fair, so he has (I say has to very loosely) started spying on them…keeping an eye out for them….he needs to know who to trust and who not to trust…..

Things do get out of control, the gang notices he is spying on them so they have a group meeting with him…of course, they’re mad at him, but he still doesn’t believe them even after clearing up they weren’t there that day she died, so Jonathan decides to scrub through the security camera recordings…turns out they were right, whoops…

Tim confronts Jonathan Sims about how it’s very shady that he was spying on them, especially on their off times…he says I’m sorry I just couldn’t trust anyone all I needed was proof…..he asks Tim if he wants to quit. Which he says I do…which he says fine then quit…Tim says he can’t. Why not Jonathan asks. The answer is I don’t know…

Jonathan says yeah I can’t Fire u either even if I wanted to I just can’t….idk why, they both come to the realization that there’s something off about this building that is here that preventing them from leaving…Dunn dunn dunn So for now they will have to reluctantly team up…things are getting juicy

So I figure this is the correct time to introduce 2 other main characters…..first we have Basira….she’s a detective, who helps Jonathan Sims get files on Gertrude Robinson….but she eventually gets called in to assist in the take down of a criminal, she nearly dies…loses some of her men…if not all her men, she goes back to Jonathan Sims tells him she’s quitting and he should too…he says he can’t, he’s too far I this….she does eventually bring him his files…also Basira does join the Magnus Archives eventually just to make sure Daisy doesn’t murder Jonathan Sims…

Jonathan is back to investigating on his own, and then we have Melanie, who works for a paranormal ghost-hunting podcast, she does not Trust Jonathan like at all….but over time she grows to trust him very very little……we will get back to her small bit because there’s more to come in season 3…

So now let’s get to the last 2 episodes of season 2, so after Jonathan apologizes to the group for his spying on them….he tells the team they have the day off, so Tim and Martin agree…Jonathan sneaks into the lower parts of the basement to find more evidence of Gertrude Robinson, he also discovers a mysterious figure he has been noticing down there….right forgot to mention he’s been slightly suspicious about Sasha their archival assistant…because multiple times he’s been down there she’s also down there…but he isn’t sure it’s her or not so he’s gonna go find out…

Tim catches on he knows something is off about the fact that Jonathan just apologized to them, so he and Martin sneak on down to the secret basement to locate Jonathan……they get lost, but Jonathan ends up finding Sarah….well turns out it’s not Sarah, no instead its a shape-shifting thing that took the form of Sarah for a good old long while….that means the real Sarah was never there worming for them…but instead a demon like a thing instead….. Dunn dunn dunn….things get weirder, so as soon as Jonathan is about to get attacked by this creature known as Sarah….he gets rescued by some random person….the guy can push her out the room….take a guess who the random person is?

It’s Jurgen Leitner….. oh snap, yes that same Jurgan Leitner, the one that was mentioned back in the season 1 episode of The BoneTurners Tale, so Jonathan Sims has Jurgan Leitner answer some questions…understandably…here’s what he finds out from Jurgan Leitner…so turns out he didn’t invent those books such as the BoneTurners Tale….and he also found out that Jurgan Leitner just been taking those books to keep them away from humanity…to keep them safe, Jonathan asks why didn’t u just try to destroy the books? He explains he can’t but he should have tried to at first which makes him a fool…then Jonathan agrees saying ur right you’re a fool….

Also here’s another twist Jurgan Leitner was working with Gertrude Robinson…she was gonna burn down The Magnus Archives….along with his help…so yeah Jurgan Leitner isn’t the bad guy that Jonathan made him out to be…But in his defense, his name did keep popping up on the files….each time he came back up it was involving around dangerous mysterious books…so I can understand how Jonathan Sims thought that Jurgan Leitner was the ultimate evil or something like that…

Oh also Jurgen Leitner believes Elias murdered Gertrude, to prevent her from burning down the archives…….what a twist!

so now Jonathan Sims can’t take much of this so he says I’m gonna leave to take a bit of a smoke…..Anyways back to Martin and Tim, they come upon the giant creature that was Sarah….this makes Martin emotional because he liked her, awww..so back to Jurgan Leitner guess who enters the room he’s in? If y’all guessed Jonathan then y’all are dead wrong no it’s Elias…..wait what is he doing here?

He asks Jurgan Leitner what he told Jonathan. He said what he needed to know…..ohhhhh, Jurgan notices that Elias is about to kill him so he says if u kill me how will Jonathan be able to make it through all this? Elias says I’ve always thought he needs to go out there and spread his wings on his own….also remember how I said Jurgan believes Elias killed Gertrude? Well it is true, Elias did murder Gertrude…..dun dun dun

Then Elias murders Jurgen Leitner then he leaves….little later Martin and Tim stumble into that room and Tim says see I told u Jonathan was gonna do something bad…..which Martin says Jonathan what did u do? And now this takes us into season 3….so yeah if all can’t tell by the ending of season 2, yeah Jonathan Sims has been framed for murder….he’s framed for murdering that guy in the basement who is Jurgen Leitner (but the team doesn’t know who that body is)…

And he’s framed as the murderer of Gertrude Robinson….yeah I’m like all are frustrated, the fact that Elias murdered both people…framed Jonathan now Jonathan is framed and on the run and out of a job at The Magnus Archives…all while Elias sits back and lies…all while knowing he’s getting away with murder….what an awful boss he is….

Anyways, Jonathan Sims is hiding out at his friend’s apartment named Georgie….she’s treating him kindly, but she starts expecting something is going on because he’s getting addicted to recording using the tape recorder and he’s barely sleeping…so she tries banning it from the apartment unless he tells her the truth…Johnathan breaks down and explains to her the supernatural is real and there are monsters and I been framed for 2 murders…she believes him because she said she’s seen some monsters…well that’s kind

So there’s a detective named Daisy, who is hunting down Jonathan Sims because she believes he killed Jurgen Leitner, the body in the basement, and Gertrude Robinson…..also she starts as kinda a prick abusing her power in command, she is a partner as in relationship partners with Barisa….congrats on her…anyways Daisy interrogates everyone at The Magnus Archives, Elias gets interrogated last but instead of telling her where Jonathan is…he instead says I’m gonna tell u something, yes even if Jonathan murdered those 2 people…I’m not gonna tell u where he is…

Ok, seriously what angle is he playing at? He got Jonathan fired and framed him for murder at the same time…now he’s defining him? oh, it gets worse so he tells her to drop this case and stop looking for Jonathan….he reveals that he knows that Daisy has done some stuff, killed innocent people before…things she’s not told her colleagues about…and if she continues to investigate Jonathan…then Elias will take the info about her past to her colleagues and turn her in…

Also, she informs Jonathan Sims that a woman named Melanie has been shot by a ghost bullet when she was instigating a paranormal location……and Georgie is gonna go to the bar with her to see how she’s doing…..she finds out at the bar that Melanie has been offered a new job…which she describes as an odd place, but she’s excited to get started…..Gerogie informs Jonathan about it, he says huh I wish her luck…..also if you all wondering where Melanie got a new job? Well, Elias has offered her a job at The Magnus Archives…..ok that’s a horrible idea I’d say don’t take that job…..

Heck even Tim isn’t happy that Melanie is now working there…..btw There’s one episode shortly soon where he starts trying to record a statement he found in the files…as he reads out the file name, he says seriously what’s the point of this? No seriously? What’s the point of any of this? Who’s this for? Who’s gonna hear these? I’m done I’m done…..lolo yeah I don’t blame him, then Meraline comes in to introduce herself and he tells her yeah I’m not happy ur here…no offense but I just don’t want anyone else to come work here…this place is dangerous…

Then he tells her here, ur new job is to record and file the archives….lolo, back to Jonathan Sims… Jonathan gets captured by Daisy and is taken out to be executed. luckily Basira shows up to save him, and she points out that he has evidence on the recorders….if that can prove that Elias murdered the 2 people and not Jonathan then they can take Elias down…and it ain’t Jonathan who’s the murderer…she reluctantly agrees….

So they go to his office the next day and confronts Elias…he tells Martin to bring everyone in here, and they all show up asking oh joy what’s going on?…. Elias being Elias says to get any confusion out of the way yes I murdered Gertrude Robinson because she was gonna burn down this place and the archives, I killed Jurgen Leitner because he was gonna reveal too much to u Jonathan…

Tim doesn’t seem too shocked he just says what? In a normal none shocked voice….then he tells them all oh btw yall are gonna be working for me now or u will suffer the same fate as them…wow what a slimy character, he tells Basira she’s gonna join him because he called the cops and if she kills him Daisy will go to jail…he’ll make sure that they know of her past wrongdoings and get arrested but then he says but I could have been wrong it’s all a mistake…all u have to do is work for me…

Daisy reluctantly agrees, and he calls the cops off..then Tim tells her don’t worry u get used to this….which implies this happens way too often….then Jonathan Sims gets his job back, seriously what angle is Elias playing at?

So now Jonathan Sims is back working at The Magnus Archives, for Elias…. Anyway he asks Elias if he is human…which Elias says what is human exactly? I mean ur human enough……well that’s a response……moving on!

So if y’all are wondering what Melanie has been up to? Well she tries murdering Elias multiple times, but she fails because he can read minds so he knows every attempt…one day she tries to give him coffee that’s laced with drugs….he says thank u but I want u to drink it…which she says I can’t I already had mine…which he says oh are u afraid u will die? Or fall unconscious? Seriously what was ur plan? Were u gonna drug me to the point I die? Or enough to knock me out then u finish the job?…

Then, Elias, Elias does something mean, he taunts her, he says “Remember that Fire at your mother’s house? I bet u always loved taking care of her…a shame of the accident that happened…..wanna know how the Fire happened?” Which she gets shocked and starts crying and he goes on gloating about how it’s a shame she died in the Fire and u couldn’t do anything to help her…then he goes back to acting like a normal boss and says here u can take the rest of the night off I bet u have a lot on ur head….wow what a piece of shite…I wouldn’t want to work with him…..

So things start getting weird….At some point this mysterious woman named  Nikola Orsinov who’s made out of wax sneaks into the archives, she turns the lights off..reveals herself go Jonathan Sims, she tells him about how she murdered her dad because he bored her…tee hee, and she wants his help to get a medallion for her so she can use on the day of reckoning….also she’s not gonna kill him yet but she will if she changes her mind…..

Later on, she eventually changes her mind, she sends one of her men out to capture Sims and bring him to this big building where few things he finds out 1. She works and worships a God-like sun tning…and that 2. Jonathan Sims and the Magnus Archives have this all-seeing giant eyeball that watches over them so in a way that eyeball is like their God….dunn dunnn dunnn also 3. There’s this circus thing outside where they are, she tells him u can scream all u want there’s a circus outside….besides if they kill u it will hurt a lot more than me killing u…

If ur wondering how Jonathan Sims gets out of this situation, well he escapes through Michael’s door. Jon then talks to Jude Perry, who was working with Nikola and the circus but worships her own thing, which is the lightless flame entity.

Michael finds the archivist through his door and decides he wants to kill him instead. Michael is in no way related to the circus. Jon asks to make a statement of Michael about who he is before he kills him and Michael agrees. Michael explains (please just read the transcript for episode 101 for this part). Jon accepts his defeat and tries to open Michael’s door upon Michael’s request, but finds that it’s locked. Michael is confused, then panicked, and then is seemingly in agony. Finally, the voice of Helen Richardson, a woman who gave a statement about an encounter with Michael earlier in the show. She had been stuck inside his hallway for weeks, but she navigated them and took over, replacing Michael as The Distortion. She assures Jon that she doesn’t want to kill him like Michael did and helps him escape from Nikola…

So yes there’s this mysterious unknown circus that is dangerous…….so yes if y’all are wondering is this circus important? Well yes, for u see Elias wants Jonathan Sims to take down that circus because the circus with the unknown creatures inside will bring the end of the world as they know it……..eventually Tim finds out thanks to Martin…..Martin tells Tim about this entire circus thing, that Elias is having him do some digging into the circus….Tim gets upset because he’s wondering why no one told him about the circus…..why wasn’t he informed? He’s wondering….

Tim finally allows Martin to record him so he can tell him his story…..so turns out that years ago Tim had a brother…..and one day this circus came into town, and his brother went missing thanks to a suspicious-looking clown that was a part of the circus……that was the last he ever saw his brother….so this is why Tim joined the Magnus Archives he wanted to study the paranormal see if he could find anything about the circus……so as he wraps up his story, Martin says so that’s why u joined the archives? Which Tim says yes…

Then Elias walks in they say u overheard us didn’t u? He said everything……then he sends Martin away to talk to Tim alone, Tim gets pissed at Elias for not telling him…but Elias didn’t want Tim to know heck he doesn’t want Martin nor Tim to help….he says Jonathan Sims is the key to this…u Tim wouldn’t be any help…..which Tim says oh oh I see so I’m just the guy who is just here…is that it?

Elias tells Tim to not get involved, and Tim gives him 2 options either move out of the way or kill him…..Elias says I don’t want it to come to that, which Tim says yet here we are…..then Tim storms out of the room…..I mean yeah I don’t blame Tim, the guy lost his brother to this demonic circus and joined the Magnus Institute to try to find information on the circus, plus any paranormal things that can help him find out more info…..I’m glad though that we the audience now have context as to why Tim’s even here…what purpose he contributes to the team, besides being all pissy…..

So now this leads us to the last 2 episodes, so in the last 2 episodes, Tim and Daisy, and Jonathon Sims head out to place bombs at the circus to blow it up…..why haven’t I mentioned Martin? Well, Elias forces Martin to stay behind. He doesn’t see any beneficial uses he will bring to the team….wow what a prick he is, so what does Martin do to get back at Elias? Well, get to that later….

For now the trio heads to the supposed building that Jonathan remembers being taken to against his will…….they make their way to a door, and they have to get it unlocked….while Tim keeps watch, the group ends up noticing a hallway with wax-like bodies but turns out it isn’t wax light figures no there dead humans…..these bodies were the victims to a creature in one of the files Jonathon came upon a while back….a creature that uses a light on its head to lure people to it…then deposes of the person to take the form of the person……uhhhhhh, plus he thought the creature was like an Angler fish type creature…..

They open the door and the room on the other side is bigger than the room they were in…..what sorta Doctor Who type shite is this? And the gang encounters a creature that knocks them out…..back to Martin so he’s burning some files in the archives just to get back at Elias… Yeah he’s burning the files with a torch… This causes Elias to try to come in, but the door is locked….Martin says don’t u have a key? And Elias says I don’t have time for this…which Martin says I ain’t going anywhere…so Elias goes grabs a key and opens the door…

He asks Martin what is he doing. Martin explains that he’s burning some of the files…to get back at Elias…Then Elias says are u doing?

Martin says no actually I’m not done, there’s more….the fact u don’t want me to help out my friends saves the world! But instead, sit here and go through the archives at your will! And the fact that Sarah has been dead for who knows how long, which means u knew that wasn’t the real Sarah…and u let her still work here, fully knowing it wasn’t her! How long did u know?

Or that the fact my boss is a psycho who murderer!…have u ever considered that I just hate u as well!? Or am I not allowed to hate u like Jonathan, Daisy, Basira and Tim do?! How’s it that they are allowed to get mad at u and hate u? Yet when I do it, nah nah its not hate nor resentment nah it’s just little ol Martin just throwing a temper tantrum….because that’s all Martin is good at hm?, just getting tea and coffee and putting on a smile for everyone in this building!?

Elias says, If ur trying to convince me otherwise, then ur doing a horrible job….. oh ouch….then this is how Elias gets Martin to stop burning files…Elias taunts Martin, in a similar way as he taunts Melanie……Martin breaks out into tears, Elias says don’t burn any more files….then leaves, just then Melanie comes in and asks is Martin alright? Which he says yeah I’m good….she says You’re not. U see what he’s doing right? We need to kill him….it’s the only way we can end all this….if he’s dead….

He tells her no I have a plan…..now what’s that plan? We’ll get to that in a bit…for now back to our trio….they wake up separately away from each other like they can’t see where one another is….and the three of them start getting attacked verbally by their worst fears…..Jonathan starts getting scolded by Gertrude and Jurgan Leitner……telling him if I weren’t dead I think I’d be proud……ur a disgrace, yada yada, and all that…..each trio gets taunted…..Jonathan tries punching the hallucinations but they tell him which are ur real arms? Do u even know what arms are anymore?

Luckily out of all 3 of them, Tim can break through his hallucinations….he has that same damn clown that stole his brother, taunting him…..Tim doesn’t fall for any of the illusions…also he’s the one holding the detonator…..he tells the clown all I see is a poor pathetic clown standing in front of me….which the clown says that is not funny, which Tim says I know….then he detonates the detonator….causing the building to explode….dun dun dun

So back to Elias, he’s doing a recording, he is recording himself talking about how he hopes that Jonathan Sims made it out of the explosion and that he hopes he can make his way through things…….he also mentions that both Tim and Daisy perished in the explosion….oh no.

Then Martin barges in the door with an officer…..they tell Elias that he’s under arrest…..(yay finally about damn time) Martin does warn the cop to not allow Elias to get into his head, he is capable of doing that……

Now bet y’all think probably Elias is acting all panicked, lying his way out of things. Nope instead he tells Martin that he’s proud of him…he didn’t expect this to happen, though he did know Martin was planning something…but he never expected this…..then he proceeds to go with the officer and he says I’m cooperating….so yeah to put it bluntly he just basically said I’ve been a bad boy, take me away officer…..

Seriously what’s with Elias? What angle is he playing? What normal person in their right mind just willingly accepts going to prison? OK nevermind moving on….so now this does leave room for someone to be in charge of…just then this mysterious guy comes out of the corner….his name is Peter Lukas….he says with Elias out of the way someone is gonna need to run this place….although what is it he calls himself? The heart of the institute? Yeah, he’s still that. But due to the circumstances of where he’s going…someone will need to take his place to do the business side of things….

For a minute I thought Martin was gonna be given the position of leader since he just dethroned Elias…..but nope instead Peter Lukas said so I’ll be taking over…..Martin asks what now? Peter Lukas says well firstly I’ll be giving the team a week off so y’all can mourn the loss of Tim/Daisy…plus, to pray that Jonathan will wake up from the coma he’s in…..yes Jonathan is in a coma, he survived but barley….also this brings up the question, how did he survive? If Tim and Daisy perished in the explosion why didn’t Jonathan Sims?

Then Peter Lukas says also if any yall need counseling I’ll happily fund it through this institute…..Martin says oh uh thanks, and Peter says bring up the crew so they can meet their new boss….we got a lot ahead of us (or something like that)……which brings us to the end of season 3 of The Magnus Archives, also brings us to the end of The Magnus Archives Part 2 review…..so I hope yall have enjoyed this review, I absolutely enjoyed reviewing this…can’t wait to come back for The Magnus Archives Part 3 once I finish the last 2 seasons…btw here’s a link to the full podcast….
