The Legend of Korra: Let’s start off with the trailer shall we?

So for this review, I’ll only be reviewing the first season because I only ever watched the first season I didn’t bother with the other seasons….I’ll explain why when I get to the end of this review

So without further due let’s get into the review shall we?

So in this show, we follow our main character named Korra who lives in The Southern Water Tribe which this time around looks way fancier than it did 70 years ago when Katara and Sokka lived there…we’re we see she’s training in front of some old people, well technically she’s showing off the skills she has learned Fire Bending, Water Bending, Earth Bending, and Earth Bending…..she’s got it all under control…..the question is how does she already know all 4 abilities?

Anyways in this timeline, Avatars and Benders are outlawed…..because for u see there’s this group called the Revelation….we’ll get to that soon, but Korra wants to go out there…so she sneaks off on her own into the city at night, where she bumps into this guy named Bolin and his brother Mako, they all 3 enter a giant event going on in a building.

Where they see the Revolution on stage with their leader named Amon (this man who wears a hood, with a kabuki-type mask), speaking to an entire room filled with people….he shows them some criminals who have Bending powers, shows them he can take their abilities away, but first he’s gonna give the guy a fighting chance which he does…but the guy loses and Amon takes the guys Bending powers away with one thumb to the guys head and that’s it…. uh how’s it this mysterious Amon guy knows how to take Bending away? Also, this is a major threat to all Bending kinds….dun dun dun

Amon tells his back story that he was part of a little village that got attacked by Fire Benders…and he got burnt/deformed thanks to them, now he has to wear a mask to cover his damage…uh huh sure buddy

Anyways, Amon plans to wipe out every bender of their Bending abilities to make everyone and everything equal…ok I mean that in itself isn’t a bad thing, it’s the way he’s approaching it that is why it’s a bad thing…the Benders should be allowed to give consent, not have their powers taken away by force…that’s anarchy

So they go back home, and warn Tenzin about what they saw… know warn of this threat….sometime later this guy named Tarrlok helps fund and lead the resistance against Amon plus his cultists…..btw If you all wondering where Aang and his group are? Well I’m this timeline Aang is dead, he’s been memorialized with a statue of him in the city, but the statue has been corrupted, and it now has Amon’s mask on it…..of

Toph got a job as head of what’s the equivalent of cops in their world….but she’s now retired, living somewhere unknown to people…Sokka well here’s some sad news Sokka and Suki’s relationship didn’t last, they didn’t get married even though they were perfect for each other….Sokka went on to be a part of the council, Katara well in all honesty I forgot what she went on to do…..that might be my memory being not as good as it was….lol

Anyways so now the team has a fighting chance against Amon and his cultists…..so bet y’all are wondering what can go wrong since now they have a master of water Bending on their side? Well turns out Tarrlok is evil, wow who could have seen this coming? Oh, wait a minute…

I also forgot to mention that Amon and his men attack Tarrlok while he has Korra trapped in a cage….as u can see all of Amon’s men collapse on the floor but Amon doesn’t seem affected by the Blood Bending, jeepers what is he? Tarrlok asks that and Amon says I am the answer…then he takes Tarrlok’s abilities away then puts him into a cell…Dunn dunn dunn

Anyways so now Tarrlok is locked up in a cell, which is good if u ask me…..then and now time for the twist no one saw coming or expected….Tarrlok is Amon’s brother, dunn dunnn dunnnnn and Amon’s name is Noatak…so what’s their back story y’all may be asking? Well, their father tried teaching them Blood Bending…wow what a shocker, so he was a messed up father… Anyway, he taught them it by doing it on animals in the Arctic where they live…

BTW forgot to mention that their father is an Escaped prisoner with the help of his old colleagues help him get plastic surgery to change his appearance….uh

Anyways so each day he’d try training them the ways of Blood Bending….which is horrifying and mentally disturbing to teach to 1 kid let alone 2 kids….one day Noatak had enough of seeing his dad Blood Bending poor defenseless creatures (which yeah I agree) so he Blood Bends there own dad…then Noatak runs off and Tarrlok never saw his brother again since….until now, he recognized Amon as his long lost brother…how could he tell? Well, he recognizes that Amon is using Blood Bending when taking the Bending powers away….so yes Amon is using Bending powers, what a hypocrite he is…

So now Korra and her friend know Amon is using Bending, now they have to expose him for the fraud he is….so they head to his rally to tell everyone he’s a fraud….so they head there to his live audience….. and they get them they scream out and tell everyone that Amon’s true name is Noatak and that he’s not a burnt victim from the Fire Nation…plus he’s a Blood Bender…

He then decides to take his mask off then reveal his identity to everyone, and yes he is burnt (keep that in mind for later) also side rant I don’t understand why they had the villain wear a mask…like I was under the impression that maybe he’s a character we probably already knew, who now turned into a villain…but nope that’s not the case, so was the whole mask thing while being vague about him necessary? Because the plot twist is of basically 2 new characters we have no attachment to nor any reason to care for them…like gasp Noatak? Who’s that? Don’t care Lolo

So anyway his men bring out Korra on the stage, he tries taking her abilities away but she breaks free and a fight between them happens. The fight gets taken to the backroom…also one of Korra’s friends steels an airplane to shoot that stupid mask off the statue of Aang, to put that statue back to what it once was…..so while the fight happens, he shoots the mask off the statue…revealing its a statue or Aang…..

So back to the battle, Korra and Amon are fighting in the back room, and he starts doing Blood Bending on her…but then his right-hand man walks in and notices he is doing Blood Bending, oh snap Amon has been caught right-handed…. right-hand man says I saw u do Blood Bending…the Avatar was right…he then takes his helmet off and says I devoted my life to u!….so he tries attacking Amon but he just Blood Bends the guy….wow Amon just wow, Blood Bending ur own men now…that’s just wrong…

This gives Korra enough time to attack him, Korras friend enters the room to try to help…but he gets Blood Bended, then Amon uses his powers to take Korras powers away…. oh no, so Amon chases her friend into the hallway and as he catches him with his Blood Bending, Korra comes up behind him and attacks Amon with Airbending…..yes somehow she’s able to still do Airbending even though her powers were taken away…even Amon looks in shock and says how?

He then Blood Bends her again but she says oh no don’t then she stomps her legs and uses Airbending to push Amon out the window into the river causing his mask to fall off, and his mask lifts to the top of the water….everyone notices this and says to the avat, u filthy tyrant!, evil Avatar! What did u do to our leader…

We then see Amon’s body in the water and here’s a shocker that burn marks on his face it is essentially a fake it was makeup, and it starts washing off…he wakes up and uses water Bending to create a water tornado to levitate himself out of the water, oh good job u idiot u just exposed urself to everyone…so yeah he just revealed to everyone his scares were fake, and he does know water Bending…so everyone now seems shocked they’re like he’s water Bending? He’s using Bending, the scars are fake, and the Avatar was telling the truth….he then tries attacking the Avatar then he swims away….btw here’s that entire ending fight clip

So as Korra and her friends leave, Noatak goes and frees his brother, he says come with me brother ur all I have left….then they leave out on a boat, where Noatak says finally together just like in the old days…. his brother says yes Noatak, which Noatak says Noatak? I almost forgot the sound of my name…then we see Tarrlok take one of Amon’s men’s gloves with an electric bolt in it, he puts it on, twists out the gasoline knob, and says it be just like the good old days…

Then we see Noatak shed and tear then the boat explodes, ending the lives of both brothers…..well that news is a cheap cop-out ending if u ask me, also is the clip

Fun fact on why this season ended like this, so originally they (meaning Nickelodeon) didn’t think this season would go on past season 1 so they had the producers and director of this show tie up all loose ends for the season finale..meaning Amon and Tarrlok had got to go….how little they knew the show would be successful and more seasons would get made….what a waste if u ask me…

Anyway show ends with no one able to help give Korra back her abilities, she’s all sad…she heads to the edge of the cliff to cry a bit, but then all the past Avatars including Avatar Aang appear to her and they give her all her powers back…..well that was sweet and kind….so that’s that’s the end of season 1….I stopped caring and stopped watching the series after season 1 so I have no idea what the other seasons are like….it’s just I found the villain in this season interesting, they messed up their chance when they decided to kill him off, o think he should have been used again for a second season…but that’s just my opinion…

So overall I’ll say it’s a good show but no where as great as Avatar The Last Airbender, so I’ll give this season a solid 7/10
