Side note I wanted to mention I have a special fond memory to these 3 specials, because I was away in the Caribbean relaxing on the beach while these aired and watched them there, that was some happy times.

We’re shall we begin? Well firstly it’s now been 60 years since Doctor Who has been on screen, so happy 60th anniversary! Secondly Disney and BBC came up with an agreement to allow Disney to air the 3 60th anniversary specials on Disney plus, including the Christmas episode that will be releasing on Christmas day, then then the next season of Doctor Who as well…also David Tennant is back as The Doctor for these 3 specials.

Also they brought back Russel T Davis to direct the 3 specials, plus the upcoming Christmas special and next season…which I think was the correct choice, especially getting rid of Chibs the Idiot…he ruined Doctor Who, so I’m glad they brought back the guy who started it all with the rebooted Doctor Who era…

BTW before I show yall the trailer I wanna show yall a 3ish min skit they recorded that had controversy….I’ll explain why after the clip

So where do I begin, well firstly yes ur eyes don’t deceive u thats Sir Dave Daveros but this time he’s a normal person with no Dalek wheelchair, or a third eye ball….secondly I thought ok maybe this is a origin to before he became crippled which I’d be fine with, except once I heard what Russel T Davis had to say I lost some respect…he said “Daveros is a homicidal villain whos also crippled, that didn’t settle with me and lot of the people working on this show…so I reinvented him so he’s not crippled”

Oh boy Russel T Davis, are u saying that only good people can be cripples? That villains can’t be cripples? Well guess we should cancel Darth Vader then because he’s a villain and a cripple with prosthetic limbs….because no clearly bad guys can’t be cripples, give me a break…..this annoys me because are we just implying that in no shape or form bad guys can be cripples? Even though anyone realistically can be a cripple? Nevermind let’s move on before I get mad…

Let me firstly get my rating out of the way then I’ll get into the deep dive, so personally I recommend this episode, it’s a good episode…it has some flaws but not enough to make it bad, so uhhh 7.8/10 now let’s get into the review shall we? Also spoiler warning ahead, read at ur own caution…

So in this episode titled The Star Beast, we see the Doctor land his tardis in the middle of London, he gets out the tardis with his David Tennant face back, he’s wondering why this face is back…heck the opening of this episode starts with a weird shot of him standing in front of space doing s recap of what would happen if Donna Nobel will remember him…..

Anyway guess who he bumps into? Donna Nobel herself…yeah he sees a woman holding too much presents and needs help so he runs over to grab some boxes off her to help her, but as soon as he sees it’s Donna he puts the boxes back…

Lolo, so here he meets Donna’s daughter Rose, yeah don’t worry he was also confused by the name….every time she’d yell out Rose, he’d be like what? What? Also Rose Is a transgender woman, which I’ll get into the weird controversy in a min…..so the Doctor leaves as soon as a space ship crashes from out the sky, while Donna isn’t paying attention, then the Doctor pulls over a taxi drive who so happens to be Donna’s husband, he tells him to take him to where that space ship landed…

So the Doctor gets into the car and says Allons-y, then gets into the car, Doctor asks the guy about Donna, while he pretends to be friends with one of Donna’s friends, ok very shady of u Doctor….Donna’s husband named Shaun Temple..asks the Doctor how he knows Donna? Which he says hes friends with Shelly….he says how she? The Doctor says she’s fine, which Shaun asks even after the accident? The Doctor says not fine, well she’s fine she’s ehh recovering…lolo

He asks Shaun is Donna now Donna Temple? Which Shaun says no she refused to take that name she said it sounds (both say at same time) and old ruin Temple…Doctor asks about the lottery money she had? What happened to it?

Then Shaun tells him that she gave the lottery money he gave them at the end of the 10th Doctor era, away…which the Doctor says why? Yeah, why? We will get to that later

So the Doctor gets dropped off at a secret military place, he sneaks inside and finds a woman in a wheelchair who’s in charge named Shirley Anne Bingham who’s UNIT Scientific Advisor number 56…..so the Doctor hides behind a wall starts using his sonic screwdriver to pull up a holo pad to get a layout of the ship, so then Shirley pulls up introduces herself, The Doctor tells her he was special unit advisor number 1….yada yada, he then goes on to say he doesn’t know why he’s back to this face, he then explains that he had a friend named Donna and she sucked in time lord power which would have fried her brain so he had to make her forget him and everything, so I’d and remembers she will die….here’s that clip

He also says that she can’t remember me yet here back to this face and I so happened to land right near her…it’s like fate has plans for her…

Right time for the controversy in this episode, so remember how I said Rose is transgender? Well in this episode she gets picked on by men who still call her by her man’s name, now here’s my perspective on this because this is a touchy subject but uh the controversy comes from people upset there’s a transgender woman in Doctor Who…like ok so what? So what that there’s a transgender woman in Doctor Who, like does it matter? No not really….so I don’t understand that part of the controversy

Now what part I do understand is this episode relies too much on the negative parts of being transgender, to the points its hammering it into the ur head, I think if I remember what my transgender friend said, the issue with this characters representation in this episode is that they use all the negative tropes of people purposely treating transgender people as they are not the gender they are now, but what they were before hand instead….

Which ok yeah I understand yeah some transgender people do have to deal with that but also yeah they did focus to much on it….ok moving on, they go into there home, there’s Donna’s mother cooking for them….Rose goes to the back shed to drop off some stuff, Donna and her mom Remisent over Wilfred, yada yada…..

Anyway Rose gets called over to an ally way by a friend of hers, where she sees something behind pile of garbage so she goes over and investigates where she finds this cute white furry creature called the Meep….yep things just got weird, it tells her I am the Meep, ok yepa things got weird, and it’s being hunted down by aliens who want its kind dead…

So she hides it in the shed, but before that happens we see Shirley Anne men go up a flight of stairs near the rocket to a door where they open it, a ransom portal appears and some weird green mist comes out and affects the guards…now they are possessed, but possessed by what? Anyways so at the shed, the mep tells Rose who just walks back in to see how it’s doing, that she’s made some friends…so she tries talking to the stuffed animals not realizing there stuffed animals……here’s the clip

She shows the meep it’s a toy, she pulls some stuffing out and says see it has stuffing, which the meep screams and says ahhh u pulled out its tummy, I wanna go home, we’re I’m not alone, meeps all alone….

So Donna comes in, the meep hides by acting like a stuffed animal…hmm that’s strange just a min ago it didn’t know what a stuffed animal was, hmm something not right…anyways Donna finds out its not a stuffed animal once she pokes it in the eye and it flinches in terror lolo…

Anyways Doctor shows up, gets punched by Donna’s mother because she doesn’t want Donna to remember the Doctor, and now that he’s here wellll……then things get all hectic but then Donna’s husband comes in and just stands there calmly and says what we doing for dinner…..lololo

So they all sit down while the Doctor heals the Meep…and this leads to a conversation that doesn’t feel what’s the word? Authentic, fluid, normal…here I’ll play it out yall decide if this sounds like how normal people talk

And it was this scene I’ll play out the lines

Doctor: ah yes the meep I promised I could help him take him home then u will never see me again

Rose: sorry u assuming he as a pronoun?

Doctor: hm true, yeah sorry good point, are u he or she or they?

The Meep: my chosen pronoun is the definite article, I am always the meep

Yeah try telling me that sounded authentic….anyways the military knock at the door, the Doctor opens the door they ask if they can come in..the Doctor pulls his screwdriver out and uses it to lift the visor up on one of them and he says sorry repeat that again (all while he’s moving the visor up) then he notices the military men’s eyes glowing and they say may we come in…which he says nah not today, and closes the door on them….lolo

Then the blast there way in, the 2 bug men fly into the house, the military men start attacking the 2 bug men…ok something is going on here, but whats going on here?

Anyways they make it to a car they drive off to a indoor garage where the Doctor pulls out one of those British court wigs, yeah don’t know why he randomly had that in his pocket, but he did, and he puts it on so he says jurry is now in section…yes what is going on?

So the Doctor telports in the 2 bug men and have them tell there side of the story, turns out there here for the Meep, yes we knew that, and according to them the Meeps are evil, they once were good but now they’re evil….the Doctor did notice something odd that during all the Is commotion all the shooting, he noticed one of the military guys was shot not dead but unconscious….so turns out these 2 bug men aren’t here to kill as he believed they were…..

So the Meep finally drops the act and reveals its evil, I love the change btw when the Meep was acting good and innocent the thing was all practical….but as soon as it turns evil and makes a sinister face they used CGI on it, to distinguish both versions…thats actually clever, so it pulls a gun out of uhhh idk where, recreating a famous shot from the comic that this episode is based on…it shoots the 2 bug men, dunn dunn dunn…

Her possessed military men come in and surround them, the Doctor convinces the Meep to take them as prisoners instead of killing them…also the Meeps mentions it’s plan to destroy the earth, u know typical bad guy shite…

Anyway they get taken away to the place with the rocket, the meep gets taken into its rockst…all her men say all hale the meep, she sends thr Doctor and his friends upstairs where they will be executed…oh no…

But as they enter the upstairs from the elevator, the wheelchair lady shows up and shoots the guards with a gun that’s built into her wheelchair…ok the heck is going on with this James Bond type shite? Anyways she sends them to the elevator to head out while the Doctor heads to the lower parts of the rocket to disable it… but Donna closes the elevator and joins the Doctor…why? Who knows…

So the Doctor isn’t pleased she followed him, but the door closes on them so now they have to tram up…so he has her turn some knobs and all that…then a glass wall comes down separating them which makes things harder….also the meep has won, her weapon is working, Now these cracks throughout the city start opening because the meep is tearing up the city….oh no, also why does this look similar to that ending in stranger things season 4?

Anyways Doctor knows now he has to regain Donna’s memory so she can help, but he screams why does it have to be me!!?…damn u can feel the emotions in David Tennants voice….he’s such a great actor…..so he triggers her memory of the Doctor, which causes her to say binary binary binary…non binary…

Then she now has her memory back, a regeneration flash of light comes out of her, and then she starts scolding the Doctor because of the fact ahw gave up 150 grand of dollars away to charity, because there was a part of her that had his goodness in her…so she wanted to do something that is very nice and would please him…yeah I can understand why she’s scolding him she gave up 150 grand…..that’s alot of money…

So Donna pulls the correct levers and buttons, which causes the meeps weapon to reverse, fix all the damge…wow a reverse button that fixes cracks in the floor as id nothing happened…how convenient…lolo

Sp then Donna collapses and the Doctor thinks she’s dying, hell she thinks she’s dying but nope she doesn’t and we find out why so that coding he put in her head to block that memory of her having a time lord mind in her which would kill her…well that time lord part of the brain would have been to much for 1 person but what if I transferred and split into her offspring….yep Rose her daughter has a part of that in her….a regeneration glow appears over hear face….

Donna points out Rose was a chosen name from her daughter, it’s the name of Rose Tyler, it’s her way of remembering ur memories…then she realizes the shed in the backyard is just her remembering the Doctor’s tardis and the toys she’s made are of the aliens both Doctor and Donna have encountered…..we get to see the toys, ranging from

The Ood

The Cybermen

The Daleks

The Space Rhino Cops

So basically since that part of the Doctor time lord mind got split into 2 and is now shared in Donna and her daughters mind..it means Donna won’t die…wow talk about continent….anyways so Rose pushes some buttons to open the door and to launch the meep out of its seat….so 2 more bug men come to arrest the meep, it tells them wait till my boss hears about u Doctor….which he says well that was ominous…..

Then this leads to some dialog that didn’t settle with the fans all to well, both Donna and Rose say too bad ur no longer a female, that means u will never know…we know everything and u know nothing, the thing is and we decided just let it go…so they somehow let go of the time lord blockage in there minds because I guess that’s a thing u can do now….also idk I think I’m mixed on that piece of dialog, saying the Doctor knows nothing seems kinda what’s the word harsh…there were better ways of wording that lolo….

So then they head to the tardis….Rose wants to enter but Donna and her mom forbade it, then Donna and the Doctor beg her mom if they can go on one just one last adventure…she first says no, but they say plz and she says fine 1 more trip thats it…then they get inside, where they see the new tsrdis (hard to explain the inside, so I’ll show an image) they get all giddy about the new design…..the Doctor shows Donna this has a coffee maker now so he makes her some coffee and gives it to her…damn that’s cool…

But Donna accidentally spills coffee on the mainframe causing the tardis to telport away, oh no….Donna’s mom says I knew it!!…..and here’s the trailer for next week’s episode
