The Exorcist TV Series: Let’s start off by showing yall the trailers shall we?

So uhh yes we’re finally reviewing this TV series that’s based on the beloved classic movie The Exorcist…..well it’s technically a sequel to the original film….now is it a goof sequel or a bad sequel? Well that’s what we’re here to find out….anyways let’s get into the review shall we?

So in this 2 season TV series yes unfortunately its only 2 seasons….thats because season 2 was horrible so u can blame that…..but season 1 was actually good…..so uhh in this show we start off with showing a priest named Father Marcus (played by Ben Daniel’s) and he’s investigating a possession in a house that’s located in a small village……wanna know how he finds the specific house? Easy he hears screaming from a kid, mixed with demonic noises and he sees a house light on the hill above him turn on……dunn dunn dunn…..anyways our main plot starts with our main family members named

Casey Rance

Kathrine Rance

Anyway one day there daughter Kathrine come back from time off she took I think at therapy because she got into a car accident which killed a friend of hers who was in the car…..also she can’t put up with her mother who is religious….they go visit a church every Sunday who has a priest named Father Thomas….anyways so Angela has a conversation with father Thomas in his office….she asks him to come check on her family, which he asks why? And she says u know anything about exorcisms? Which he says exorcisms? Yes I know what that is…why u ask? Which Angela says there’s a demon in my house and it’s trying to take one of my daughters…..then a Crow comes flying in through the window and blood pores through its neck as it dies painfully while Angela and Thomas are in shock…..yeah no shite…

So father Thomas agrees to come and help……while that happens we see Marcus just sitting outside on a porch while the possessed kid is inside, and another priest named Brother Bennett comes over asks what has he done? That boy needs to be at a hospital….the church won’t be happy with Marcus disobeying orders but Marcus aims a gun at him and says I’m not gonna let him down…..which then Brother Bennett leaves angrily

Anyway so father Thomas visits a retirement home where he finds a priest sitting down outside wearing glasses, he tells him of this father Marcus and that he’s inside the building so Thomas goes and finds him which then the priest takes off his glasses revealing he’s possessed….dunn dun dunn, anyways Thomas finds Marcus he then asks him if he knows anything about exorcisms…..which he tells Marcus of what’s going on with a family he knows, which Marcus tells him he can’t help him…so Thomas leaves, we then get a backflash scene showing us why Marcus can’t help….remember that boy he was doing an exorcism on? Well turns out the boy just one day sat up turned his head fully backwards snapping his neck and he dies…..wait wait hold up if this is a sequel to the Exorcist film then how does turning ur neck backwards kill u? Because in the first movie Reagan the possessed girl turned her head around 180 degrees and she didn’t die…in fact it didn’t hurt her neck, yeah try making sense of this…..

Anyways Thomas goes and visits the family house where he hears a noise in the attic, wow really the attic? The most clichéd horror trope? Yeah ok sure I guess lolo….anyways he goes up there and finds the possessed girl it’s turns out it’s not Kathrine who there mother thought was possessed no it’s Kathrines sister Casey…..uhhh ohhh, anyways so with this knowledge now father Thomas heads out and we see father Marcus packing up his back of Exorcism stuff to go ans help Thomas…..

So now that we got that out of the way I think we can now go over the broad strokes of this season then season 2…..so once father Marcus comes over to father Thomas house, he tells him he needs to get to know the family to see which one is possessed….get to understand the demon possessing her…also he went through father Thomas mail because he needs to know everything about him because he tells him if they go down this path, during an exorcism the demon will know everything about u and won’t hesitate to use ur weaknesses against u…..well he ain’t wrong…

So after a little bit of investigating, and getting to know the family by uh attending a church lunch where the family helps out at….he now has an understanding and now all they have to do is record the possessed girl, show it to the Vatican and get approval of an Exorcism before they can do anything more…..luckily for them the family is worried about Casey because one night on a train with her dad she goes in a violent rampage and then she urinated her pants…..hmmmm once again taking imagery from the original Exorcist movie I see we’re doing, anyways so uh does this make the catholic church wanna help? Nope instead they take there findings to them and they banish Marcus and tell Thomas to stop investigating this…..wow gee wiz…

Don’t worry they both go against protocol and actually try to perform the exorcism on Casey themselves…..yeah this can go oh so well huh? Can’t see anything wrong with this plan…..so anyways they go to there home to do an exorcism on Casey……all is kinda going well, I say kinda because well u know how exorcisms are…the person is possessed, the demon won’t let go, the possessed person is getting injured, in pain….yada yada, anyways her sister ends up doing a dumb thing she calls the ambulance to come take her sister away because she truly believes her sister needs medical help…..well this will hinder the exorcism, u also might have just brought the demon the extra amount of time it needs to possess Casey forever….so good job Kathrine….

Also Angela reveals to Thomas who she is…her real name is Reagan, dunn dunn dunn…..yeah she was the possessed girl from the first movie…anyways then her mother shows up to the house wearing a black fedora and a trench coat, yeah the show tires to recreate that iconic shot…wow how original….

Anyways after possessed Casey escapes the hospital and Kathrine finally finding out the demon tricked her into making her believe all her sister is just sick and not possessed….now the 2 priests have to go out and find Casey, luckily Father Marcus locates Casey crab walking in a tunnel filled with homeless people…..anyways he takes possessed Casey to a church to unpossess her without telling her family….he also wants Father Thomas to lie to the family…..awesome this can only end poorly…..

So to no one’s shocker, it does, the family finds out that Marcus has Casey so they go visit the church he’s hiding out at…..and now it’s time for the final exorcism….what do we find out? Well, the demon who’s possessing Casey is Pazuzu, dunn dunn dunn and it’s after Reagam….dunn dunn dunnn, so uh the exorcism goes well the demon tries snapping Casey’s neck even though as I said before this retcons the whole neck-snapping around in the original film which didn’t even kill or hurt Reagan for some reason……anyways they exorcise the demon out of Casey so the day is saved right now they can move on with there lives? Right? Wellll

As soon as the mother is about to leave because she only came till Casey got unpossessed and came home safe…..Reagan reveals to her mom while there walking down there stairs that she’s possessed by Pazuzu…..ohhhhhhhhh, so she pushes her mother down the stairs which twists her neck fully around instantly killing her…..ok that’s creepy, just a dead body looking back at her its the neck fully turned around……yeah Regan is possessed, Pazuzu got what he wanted……what are our main characters gonna do? Well glad yall asked, so for a few episodes things go on normally, Thomas and Marcus are investigating the church because most of the priests turns out have been doing a cult thing of letting demons possess them….yes that’s the second story in this series the church is allowing themselves to be possessed by demons….heck they’re wanting them to be merged with demons….well things just got interesting…..

So in the 2nd to final episode while Marcus is investigating the church, Thomas finds out that Reagan has got possessed, so does the family…they figure it out…unfortunately for them Pazuzu has them sit down in the family room, starts choking every single one of them until they force themselves to pledge to him and be a normal caring family together we will play games…don’t disrespect ur mother….yada yada all that, and as she’s shocking Casey with her force powers…Father Thomas comes walking in saying get the hell away from them…..which now this leads us into the series finale as in episode 10……for this episode I wanna show yall the trailer for this episode just because it is the series finale

So in this epic season finale well glad yall asked, for u see straight off the bat Thomas gets knocked out and for the next most of this episode he’s unconscious, plus talking to a manifestation in his head, guess who the manifestation are of? Marcus and Thomas mother….for some reason…

Also Marcus and Brother Bennett get tied up captured by our priests who are allowing themselves to get possessed, oh joy, anyways the main priests plan is to let Lucifer assent and possess one of them so that way they can be the host for the devil, oh jeepers this isn’t good….also one of the female members wants to badly be possessed by a demon but a demon hasn’t accepted her yet for some reason……..anyways eventually the woman does get possessed, Marcus escapes so does Brother Bennett……so Brother Bennett stays behind to stop this while Marcus chases down the head priest who’s heading to the fair where the pope is coming to town……yeah things are ramping up

Anyways back to our main family members, uhhh Thomas wakes up from his nap nap, and starts trying to exorcise the demon out of Regan so she stops attacking her family…..btw inside her body Reagan is having her own internal battle…her soul is in a house and she’s locked herself in a bedroom away from the demon who’s walking down the hallway trying to make his way in…btw Pazuzu now looks deformed he looks burnt, is now bald, has long nails/fingers….also hes saying to Reagan little pig little pig let me in!!…..well uh oh, hopefully she battles her literal inner demon…

Anyways Marcus catches up to the parade with his wrists slit, he makes it up to the main possessed priest who has made it up to the popes car…..he tells the pope the morning star sends his greeting….then Marcus comes up behind him with a small cross necklace and he says and I send mine! Then he slits the guys throat open….oh chtist, anyways as for Pazuzu uhhhh the family and Thomas are exorcism Reagan all while Reagan inside her head is beating up the demon yayyy….

Anyway so the exorcism goes well, Reagan gets unpossessed, and the family now has to heal….so they leave their house understandable, anyways both Marcus and Thomas go out to a place to eat dinner where Brother Bennett shows up…and I love this dialog

Brother Bennett: u do realize that what ur doing is defacing the Bible right?

Marcus: I’m not defacing I’m improving

Brother Bennett: there’s a drawing of a bird on that page

Marcus: oh no well that was defacing

Lololo I really do like Marcus he’s snarky….anyways the season ends with the show setting up a season 2 by having the female woman still possessed by a demon and now they have things to start and finish, jesus lord……and now this brings us onto season 2…..but before we go there let’s show yall the trailer shall we?

So this season isn’t specifically my favorite….I’d say this is when they got messy, it’s thanks to this season they cancel any future seasons of this show…..yeah understandable, so let me give yall a rundown of this season a short rundown…in this season both Marcus and Thomas wre going around countries exercising demons out of people who are possessed all while that happens we get introduced to our new location which is on a secluded island…where this guy played by the guy who plays Sulu in the Star Trek Films, runs an orphanage for kids who need to be orphaned…..hmm how interesting

Anyways they get a new kid who joins the family, but then weird things start happening eventually….but before we get to that I wanna mention that the guy has a daughter he goes and talks to her in her room…which she never leaves to join the orhers…..hmmmmm something is suspicious here, this doesn’t feel right…..no duhhhhhh

Oh if ur wondering when Marcus and Thomas join on the island? Easy not until near past the second half of this season……..yeah guess that advertisement for this show was slightly false…..anyways wanna hear something that I’d say is definitely a bad sign, bunch of crows coming falling out of the sky around the orphanage house….dead, well that not a good sign at all……anyways when Marcus and Thomas show up they need to investigate who is the possessed one, btw this season doesn’t show us who’s possessed until like the last 2 episodes of this season so this entire season is just one giant guessing game…..how wonderful

BTW wondering where Brother Bennett is? Easy he’s in a hospital in a coma, oh wonderful so he’s out of this season…..for now hehe hehe……so anyways back to our main story so uhh they find out who’s possessed it ain’t any of the kids in the house or the woman who’s there helping….nope it’s the guy who’s running the orphanage….yeah turns out he’s been possessed, and the daughter he’s been talking to well that so happened she’s a demon that’s possessed him…..dunn dunn dunnn…

Now I bet y’all are wondering so do they do an exorcism on him does it go well? That cliche etc etc.? Actually, not this time instead, for you see the exorcism this time doesn’t work…no instead he dies yeah he just dies, and the exorcism doesn’t go well…..also the season ends with Brother Bennett being possessed by a demon and I kid u not they try to recreate that iconic scene in the Exorcist 3 where a nurse is walking down hallway of hospital and goes through doors and as she walks away from the last door the possessed guy follows behind her with a big pair of scissors then we cut to a statue missing its head….here’s that clip

Yeah thats the clip from the 3rd film, they tried to recreate that….it looked dumb here in the show…..and that’s really it that’s all I have to say about this lackluster season

So overall I’m mixed, the first season I really enjoyed but season 2 yeah no Frick that season, it ruined it for me….also to no one’s surprise a 3rd season was canceled….hurray, yeah they really screwed the pooch with this season so overall I’ll give this show a solid 5/10
