The Walking Dead Dead City: so let’s start off with the trailers shall we?

So where do we start? Well firstly I wanna say I didn’t expect to watch this show mainly because I hated the last 3 seasons of the main walking dead series, so why would I watch a spinoff series around a series that ended poorly? Well ain’t that a good question idk why I bothered trying to watch this new spinoff show…but glad I did because I had a fun time watching it….it had great writing, a higher budget..better looking cinematography also come on who doesn’t want more Negan…anyways so for this show I’m gonna go through all 6 episodes so let’s begin…

Episode 1: so in this episode, it’s established to us that Maggie’s son has been kidnapped by a man only named The Croat….yes u heard that right The Croat, for a majority of the time I thought they were saying The Crow…but The Croat? Really? Why go for a name that sounds like it is used when ur trying to describe the noise that a Goat makes…..so anyways The Croat and his goons take Maggie’s son away which will be explained later why they did that….

For now, Maggie is out there just riding when she runs into Negan and a kid he’s watching….why’s Negan out here? IDK, but he does have a new attire…he’s wearing a black leather jacket, dark leather brown pants, black boots, and a black shirt, and his hair is no longer messy as it was in seasons 9 through 11….it’s back to his combed back hair he had in seasons 7 and 8……also hes wearing a single black fingerless glove on his left hand…….anyways Maggie jumps out the car aims a knife at Negans neck where he says good to see u too….

Maggie forces him to help her get her son back…she says u owe me, blah blah blah and all that also she said before the Croat left with my son he whistled exactly like u did….well ok she doesn’t say that, she instead mimics the whistling Negan use to do…but since I don’t know how to describe that noise, so I’m writing it out differently…..so he agrees to help her, so they head out to the docks to get to New York city, yes that’s right this show takes place in New York city….well that’s surely different, also he sends the mute girl he’s watching over…with a friend of Maggie’s to take her somewhere safe while Negan and Maggie go save Maggie’s son…

While this happens we the audience find out that a small group of marshals led by a guy named Perlie Armstrong (played by Gaius Charles) anyways this group wears black fedoras and black trench coats….anyways they come to a bar to interrogate the staff about if they saw this man named Negan….also if ur wondering why they’re after Negan? Well it’s because of he killed Maggie’s husband in front of her….and this group of people works for a town that was just rebuilt called New Babylon Federation, and they restore well peace and order so there here to arrest Negan for his crimes….uh huh, sorry this is a zombie show not an episode of law and order…u take ur rules somewhere else….so he questions the bar tender, she lies but he knows that because he knows she helped Negan so he feeds her to some Walkers that are behind a fence….uh huh and who’s the bad guy?

Anyway afterward he finds a newspaper listing a potential area that Negan might be going next….luckily though he isn’t wrong…so it’s off to New York City….so Negan and Maggie make it to the docks, finds a boat, finds some goons..attacks them, then proceeds to take one of them as leverage bur during the ride across the river Negan tells Maggie that this guy is a traitor he will just snitch at the opportunity he has…so let’s kill him, Maggie disagrees….also Negan asks Maggie how many people u have killed that had a family huh? How many families u left parentless? Ohh no not like this is gonna be brought up at all later on…noo totally not pfft


So then they make it to the other side where they land and find themselves surrounded by Walkers so they make themselves way into a building where The Marshal is there…yeah don’t ask me how he knows Negan was gonna be there…idk how, just go with it….

So anyways the Marshal starts talking saying idk why ur working with Negan but I bet u have ur reasons….I know u don’t trust me but I’m not a bad guy I have a wife and child, I’m a caring parent…..ok does anyone else find this dialog a little bit what’s the word, uh forceful? Anyways then Maggie attacks the guy starts beating him up with a Crowbar but then realizes she’s becoming kinda like Negan and maybe he had a point…so she stops and she and Negan leave, wow totally not forceful at all….anyways this episode ends with The Marshal making his way outside then gets trapped in a net trap…

Then The Croat and his goons come and take there bike helmets off and we see The Croat has a missing ear…it was shot off also The Croat is played by Željko Ivanek, and he frees The Marshal and drags him with him and his goons…and that’s episode 1, overall I enjoyed this episode and I’ll give this episode a solid 10/10

Episode 2: so in this episode we see Maggie and Negan bump into an old lady who steals there bags so now they have to chase after her….they climb through an elevator and all that, then they see her use a zipline to get across to another roof across the building they are in….then she tosses it back to them so they can use to get across, clearly she wants them to follow…..so Negan says to Maggie after u, which she says u first so he zip lines across then tosses it back to Maggie where she then zip lines across, where they meet up with the old lady and they take there bags back…

Then the old lady shares a bread like thing which Negan takes the offer and has some…..anyways she leaves they follow her and they get cornered by a group fo people…she led them into a trap, so then Negan and Maggie get taken captive and handcuffed in a restroom together while the people figure out what to do with them both….so while that’s happening the Croat is interrogating The Marshal…he wants to know who he came with if he’s alone? But The Marshal won’t respond…..heck The Croat offers him food to eat if he talks but he doesnt…..so time to move onto another way to get him to talk…

Anyway so Negan and Maggie start talking, Negan tells Maggie about The Croat…that he was in a very negative place so Negan took him into his savior group….he thought he was helping him out but he made him worse….one day on a mission there was an innocent woman they bumped into and Negan wanted her to let her go but The Croat took her behind his back and tortured her to death….so he tried putting The Croat down with a gun but he missed his shot and ended up only shooting the guys ear off….he has one shot and he screwed it….so now he’s willing to fix his mistake, by killing him this time…also Maggie blames Negan for not explaining this at thr start because it’s thanks to him in a way that her son is captured….ooooffff

So then the group come in and they say there being under attacked by The Croats men then they say Negan and Maggie are apart of The Croats men but they say they aren’t……but one of the people don’t believe them so Negan grabs him and takes a piece of glass aims it to his neck and says we’re not here to fight or kill u were here to help…..so then they lead them to their weapons, so now there gonna help them out….wanna know how Negan decides to help? Welllll he grabs ahold of one of the Croats men who’s on the roof right after he tried talking him out of killing the old lady but he does anyways uh oh…sooooo he takes him downstairs

He then slams the guys head through the second floor’s windows and says “knock knock ” then drags him smashes him through another window and says “I said knock knock” Then Negan sees one of the men has a long ponytail and a neck beard which he says I know this is the apocalypse but plz at least look considerate….hmmmm funny he never complained to Eugene and he had the exact same hair and beard style hmmmmm…….then he says what was I saying oh right “knock knock, who’s there? Butter, butter who? Well u butter get out ur umbrellas because it’s about to God damn rain” then he slits the guys throat which blood pours out onto all the men down there then he cuts the guys stomach open which his guys pour out ewww, getting real season 7 Negan vibes here…then he says “now idk if any of u guys checked tonights forecast, but if I see even one mole hair on one of ur ugly A$$ faces it won’t just be a rain storm, hell it won’t be a thunderstorm, it will he a God damn hurricane!” Then he proceeds to toss the corpse over onto them while they all scream ahhhh….here’s the clip ur welcome

Back to the Croat he finally gets The Marshal to tell him who he is and what he’s doing there, by uh reading his mail that the Marshal carried with him that is important to him…..so he tells him his name is Perlie Armstrong and he came from New Babylon Federation, he came with a college but now he’s dead…they came to New York to track a fugitive, which The Croat says who’s so important to have been chased all the way down here? Which then Perlie says the guys name is Negan….which perks The Croats interest, dun dun dunnn….

Anyways at the end of the episode they’re hiding away where the men they find said we lied were all that’s left we don’t run this city we don’t have tropes….then Maggie and Negan ask for there help, which they reluctantly agree to help them get into The Croats layer because one of them made it out of his layer…I’d give this episode a solid 10/10

Episode 3: so we start off with a back flash scene showing when The Croat crossed the line…so yes we get to see dictator Negan again and guess who else we see? Simon…yes his right-hand man we finally see him again….anyways they go and question him where they find him torturing the woman they bumped into…against Negans orders btw, so The Croat went one step too far…..

Amyways, so the team meet up with there leader who runs a small meat shop as well…..Negan notices the guy is putting some honey on a wound…he opens up a small container which Negan asks can I borrow some? The guy says no…..wow what a nice guy hey? So they tell their leader the plan, to help these w get inside…..he then reluctantly after he says I cannot allow that I have to make sure yall are safe and this is dangerous…..so then they come up with a plan to sneak into the place, the plan Is to sneak in through the sewers……anyways uh The Croat is not harming Maggie’s son, yeah he’s actually been a good kidnapper for some reason….yeah idk why either, anyways the important thing that comes out of this episode is at the end of this episode…

When Negan enters the kitchen at night where he bumps into the leader guy, he ends up blocking Negan not allowing him to go back upstairs….there’s a reason for this, because he finds out that Negan is a wanted man, how? Because he found the paper of his wanted paper that he kept in his bag….dun dun dunn, reason Negan kept it is that he said and I quote it’s a very handsome picture…I’m keeping it, lolol

So then the both of them start fighting each other yes I do mean actual fighting….light fist brawling, uh oh, so Negan wins of course by uh pushing the guy down on a plank with a giant nail hanging out of it….yeah yikes he gets impaled through the head, ouch so then Negan takes his hand and pushes the guys head deeper into the nail, wow what’s a charmer…..so then he just takes the guys honey wax in a canister and then walks away then pretends nothing happened….once again, what a charmer…. overall I’d give this episode a solid uhhh 8/10

Episode 4: so in this episode Negan hides the fact he just killed the teams leader….he just tells them he uhh ran away, while leaving his own crew baffled on why he would do that….once again what a charmer……but Maggie starts getting suspicious when she notices a small glimpse of the guys honey wax in Negans bag….dun dun dunn, so what does Maggie do with this knowledge? Nothing, she does absolutely nothing …..anyways the team decides to move on with their plan, to sneak into The Croats layer, how u may ask? Well few of them will go up to the front door and cause a distraction….wow what can go wrong? I cannot see anything going wrong with this plan…nooo lolo, anyways so the small group create a diversion while the second group sneaks into the building to try to go locate Maggie’s son…

So they get inside where they pass by some halls with rooms, they see a dead kid slouched over they first think it’s her son but Negan walks over to lift the kids head up reveling it’s not her son…oh thank the lord, but he is now a zombie uh oh so Negan kills the kid…..sighhh Anyways so they head on into the base, they find this arena where The Croat has people battle zombies….yes he did make The Marshal fight some zombies in the ring…..it’s a wrestling ring, so while Maggie is locating her son uh Negan is poking around trying to find The Croat….so he can kill him I guess, so uh surprise he finds the Croat who is holding The Marshal…he says he will give him to Negan because he knows he’s after him…..but he wants Negan to know that he wants Negan and him team up again…..dun dun dunn

Negan doesn’t want to which is understandable, but at same time he doesn’t downright say no….so uh, yeah there’s that…..anyways The Marshal gets thrown down to Negan, but he gets tossed on the side of the ledge so Negan saves him and takes him with him…just for The Marshal to say ur under arrest and aim a gun at Negan once they get to a safe area in a store…wow is this the thanks u give for a guy who just saved u? What a prick….anyways overall I’ll give this episode a solid ehhhh 7/10

Episode 5: so we’re officially close to the end of this season we’re the second to last episode away, ans things have not been concluded yet….so where does this episode take us too? Well so The Marshal and Negan are hiding out but The Marshal is aiming a nail gun at Negan so he can prevent him from escaping because he’s gonna take him in to New Babylon Federation….blah blah blah, so they head out to the docks to get onto a boat because The Marshal says so….but once they get outside the building they bump into hoard of zombies so they run back into a building where they run down some stairs and find a barricaded door that says “Don’t Open Dead Outside” oh joy that reference oh lovely 😑 fan service kill me now…

So anyways back to Maggie uhh she is in the sewers where she finds a giant glob of combined zombies that start crawling toward her….yikes, so who’d getting Rat King zombie vibes from The Last Of Us Part 2? So then she ends up killing the zombie by stabing each individual zombies….well that’s definitely a way to kill it lolo, anyways the rest of the group meets up with Maggie and all that…they end up hiding in the sewers, uh ew

So they stay overnight in the sewer, double ewww……anyways so uh back to Negan so uh him and The Marshal are trying to figure out there situation because they’ve just entered a building we’re they notice a display of some kinda metal art wall filled with zombie body part….yikes, talk about a morbid piece of art lolo, so anyways Negan eventually tells The Marshal that reason he is helping Maggie is because to help get her kid back because she asked me to…..but The Marshal doesn’t care he is on one mission and one mission alone, it’s to bring Negan to justice….yeah yeah yada yada yada we all heard it before…..so anyways let’s go onto the final episode plz because there’s not much here to talk about….oh wait one more thing uh one of the group team members dies, they escape the sewers and the bald guy gets bitten and has to be put out of his misery….oh well, anyways overall I’ll give this episode a solid 7/10

Episode 6: so we’re now on the final episode of this season….the season finale, does it live up to expectations? Well let’s find out shall we? So in this episode Negan and The Marshal join up with Maggie he tells them Negan u should finish what u started and help get her son back…..yayyy finally, but negan sees his kid he was watching over is with Maggie he finds out from her that she found her in the city….he is mad that she’s here so The Marshal says I can drive her back home if u want?….well thank u Mr. Marshal how nice of u….so he takes the kid to take her home, how generous….

So then Maggie and Negan head back to The Croats layer to get back her son once and for all…but as soon as they get into the building Maggie gets a flash of her dead husband and decides to attack Negan with a knife so they break out into a fight….they both jump through the window onto zome crates where Negan then stabs Maggie and she stabs Negan but as soon as she gets stabbed she jumps down into the garbage bin, so then Negan follows behind and aims a knife at Maggie’s neck, which parallels the scene of her aiming a knife at Negans neck in the first episode….he says enough Maggie give up, so then they both put down there knifes and Negan says look Maggie I’ve now realized it doesn’t matter how many times I say I’m sorry to u, no matter how many times I say it….it won’t change how u feel about me…u cannot forgive me, and u shouldn’t….I know I screwed up but I’m trying to do better….sighhh I might as well turn myself into The Croat maybe u can bargain my life to him for ur sons…

Then she aims a knife at him…Giving him an understanding look like she is going with the plan, so they takes Negan to The Croat, she gives him over to The Croat in exchange for her son….so he hands over her son and she hands Negan over…..but before that Negan says promise me u will watch over the kid for me……awwww, then Negan passes by Maggie’s kid and he says nice seeing u……so then Maggie and her son drive back home…on the way her son argues with her, he is mad at her for not being there all the time for him…oh joy more drama….sighhhh, and as for Negan he’s being driven to The Croats leader…turns out The Croat wants him and Negan to work together again like old times wow what a shocker…

As for The Marshal he delivers the kid back to her home and he heads back to New Babylon Federation where he’s questioned….he lies about Negan being dead, good he’s backing up Negan…..but they send The Marshal back out there to investigate the new variants of Walkers which they can use as his government tells him…..yeah this cannot end well, anyways so Maggie takes her son back home where he still arguing with her….awesome and we see he is missing a toe yeah The Croat cut his toe off….yikes

Anyway show ends with the woman in charge giving Negan the position to rule over the new Savors……oh joy, and the final shot of this show ends on a cliffhanger of showing half of Negan face staring at the screen and the other half of his face being Maggie’s and she’s looking at the screen…..letting us basically know Maggie isn’t done yet, she still might need Negans help and Negan might be uncertain about being a leader again or not…and that’s how this season ends….yes its open for a season 2…luckily they announced that a season 2 has been green lit….thank the lord, unfortunately now we have to wait who knows how long for it…so overall I’m gonna give this episode a solid 10/10

Yeah if yall can’t tell I’m mixed on this season, on one hand I enjoyed myself but on the other some stuff could have been executed way better….also after this show ended I’m still wondering why did we need a Maggie and Negan spinoff show again? So with that out of the way let’s give this entire season a rating…so I’ll give this season a solid 7.8/10…..even though I might end up watching the next 2 walking dead spinoff shows it doesn’t mean I’m gonna enjoy them….anyways I’m working on a handful of reviews so I’m sorry it’s been a long while since I’ve posted any new reviews but don’t worry, by tomorrow I’ll be posting Barbienheimer if that’s how u pronounce it…..plus in the next month or 2 I’ll be adding 16 more reviews at least….also I’m almost finished on my editing on Doctor Who review which will drop on November 23rd, can’t wait till yall get to read that one…
