Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part 1: so let’s start off with the trailers

So let me start by saying that I’ve never watched the first 3 Mission Impossible movies like at all…but I did start this series at Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol…..I wasn’t a huge fan of Mission Impossible Rogue Nation heck I don’t remember it…then Mission Impossible Fallout I barley remember….all I remember from that film was that Henrey Cavil was in it….and him and Tom Cruise battle it out on a snowy mountain in helicopters……oh also this film is a Part 1 so if any of yall are planning to go see this film….just keep that in mind, so with that all out of the way legs get starts shall we? Oh btw I wanna quickly mention do go see this film in Dolby Cinema I just saw it in Dolby Cinema its freaking fantastic….u feel ur chairs rumbling in every action scene, the screen is huge and the sound waves are perfect

So this film opens up with a Russian submarine holding a powerful AI machine as they describe it to be a killing device that can end humanity….also to get inside the AI main frame they use a key that in the shape of a cross oh and it splits into 2…that way 2 people can carry one while the other one is holding the other one….to prevent it from getting in other people’s hands…..so anyways this submarine is just floating in the ocean under blocks of ice in an area as they call The Dead Reckoning……then all a sudden they see another submarine on there device that shoots a missile at them…as they’re preparing to hold on the missile hits there ship but nothing…..then they shoot there missiles and it touches the other submarine but it vanishes….dun dun dun

It was never there they just chased a ghost….so they deport the missile but it isn’t responding so it turns around and hits them blowing them up….the bodies float up to the surface but the submarine is lost at the bottom of the sea…so what just happened? Well the AI computer gained a continuous of its own oh and it’s also the most powerful weapon known to man….it apparently can manipulate things, and makes things show up that aren’t there….so what they saw was a holographic submarine….ok this AI has gots to go…..so anyways later on Eathan played by Tom Cruise gets a message from his leader who hires him and his friends….he sends him to recover the second half of the key that his old friend Ilsa Faust played by Rebecca Ferguson …anyways a bounty has been placed on her because anyone who gets that key and the other half will be in charge of the most powerful item the world’s ever seen and we all know humans want to use AI as a weapon…….so Ethan is sent to save her and get the half of the key back…

So he heads to the desert where she’s hiding out, and where bounty hunters have tracked her down….at a small abandoned village in a desert storm…where she’s waiting with a sniper rifle planted on the ground….anyways Ethan shows up and helps shoot down the bounty hunters while she is shooting them from inside of the building she’s in…..anyways Ethan makes it inside the building to see her dead, uh oh….cut to some time later the High government people are discussing with each other in a room about this AI which was gonna be used as a weapon but it got a consensus and now wants to rule the world……oh and that there’s a key that’s used that splits into 2, to open up the main frame…..also every country is trying to hunt down this AI because if a single country gets their hands on it….they can start a war on other countries using the AI…..

Yeah, u heard that right an AI-powered war….yeah this is a scary thought in its own self, an AI that’s the threat? Pfft don’t worry with the way and speed where moving at with making artificial intelligence and AI stuff I think we might get there sooner then later……lolo anyways during this discussion the leader of the MIA speaks up and says he has a secret place where they hire expendable people……which the guy in charge of the government says who? And the MIA guy says classified……but he said he had one of his expendable people try to go find that half of the key…..while that conversation is happened some nice looking middle aged guy with grey hair enters the room with a brief case….and he looks suspicious as heck….the camera keeps focusing on him…

Then he pulls a small gas mask out for the MIA guy and puts one on himself then he throws Gas bombs in the room knocking them out leaving them 2 still awake…the old guy reveals himself to be Ethan in a mask, he pulls it off and sits down to have a conversation he says he found the second half of the key and will still look for the other half…but he’s not happy that thr MIA guy placed a bounty on his friends head….which the MIA guy admits he did, but did tell Ethan where she is so he can save her…..how heroic, what u want a gold metal? Anyways he then asks Ethan about what happen…we get. Abacj flash scene and turns out Ilsa Faust is alive Ethan and her faked her death and he sent her off to be safe…..then the conversation ends with the MIA guy saying u will need to pick a side eventually…war is coming, so then the phone rings the MIA guy warns the guards so now company is coming so Ethan has to escape so he uses a mask of his MIA guy to disguise himself and he shoots a knock out dart at the MIA guy….and now opening credits

Anyways so the plot really begins when our gang

Are at an airport to track down a buyer who’s coming there who’s gonna buy the second half of tbr key they’re plan is to sell it to the buyer then wear a disguise to sneak near where they go to after so they can overhear what the key is used for because they need to know what it opens so they know how to destroy it…also i love Benjis reaction to hearing about a killer AI machine

So let me get this straight, a killer AI parasitic machine that can destroy all of life? Well it was bound to happen eventually

Anyways….unfortunately for them 2 cop guys one white dude and a black dude and a gang of cops or MIA come to the airport to artist Ethan because he’s gone Rogue to many times uh oh…so now the gang have to lure them away from Ethan while he heads to the east side of the airport to get to the buyer….wanna know how they distract the MIA people? Buy hacking into a computer to digitally display Ethan’s face onto random guys at the airport to lure them away….clever

So Ethan heads to the buyer but someone pickpockets him a woman named Grace played by Hayley Atwell…..Ethan pursues her to get the key back from her….he convinces her to put it back into the guy’s pocket because he needs that to happen if she does then Ethan can get her the money she’s after….she agrees they follow the buyer….

So on the way to the Buyer Benji Dunn goes and deals with a bomb he suspects is in a bag that’s in luggage cargo room where he goes and retrieves the bag opens it up and yes there’s a bomb and it’s a nuke…..uh oh, the bomb has him solve puzzles also it reveals it knows his last name it says u r Dunn…….uh oh, the AI knows Benjis last name….so he solves the puzzles and questions the bomb asks to solve the code to disable it before it explodes…but when he solves it turns out the bomb is empty, uh oh


Anyways when they get too the buyer he’s slunk over in a chair dead, he was shot in the head….Jesus, and now the MIA are after Ethan so they run…anyways while they run away Grace escapes with the key and and Ethan for a brief second sees a guy he unfortunately knows named
Gabriel played by Esai Morales, is a ghost of Ethan’s past….so Ethan takes his glasses off to see if what he saw was real or not but he vanishes out of nowhere…..then Ethan says abort the mission so they head separately onto the plane to head out to Venice Italy where Grace headed on a plane to…..but when she gets there thr cops apprehend her because they got a call in that she was gonna land there also she has different fraud passports she’s been wanted by many people as well…makes sense also she’s been on the run…yeah she could end up in prison, btw her life is about to get a whole lot mor weirder…

So they get a call saying her lawyer is here so they take her to her lawyer who turns out to be Ethan…yeah he snuck way in saying he’s her lawyer….lolo, cleaver him…she could tell Ethan is there because as soon as she entered the room she saw the lighter he tried giving her at the airport to hold onto…..ihh clever old Ethan, anyways while this happens Gabriel enters the main office and demands that he gets info about Grace but the commissioner tries calling his secretary so Gabriel pulls a knife out and stabs him through the hand and says ur secretary is no longer required…..ooofff…..anyways the 2 MIA guys show up so now Ethan and Grace leave the building where she escapes in a cop car and he gets onto a cop motorcycle to chase her down because she escapes from him…wow…

So after a car chase happens now with the cops chasing them, a female henchman named Paris
Played by Pom Klementieff…..gets into an armored truck to chase them down, and the 2 MIA agents after Ethan in their own car….yeah things are seeming hectic oh and Grace is crashing into cars and motorcycles…clearly she sucks at driving, I cannot judge because I don’t drive yet lolo…..so anyways with them being cornered the MIA telling Ethan to put his hands up while the cops trying to get the MIA to put there guns down but then crazy lady comes and crashes through comes out and shoots them so the MIA starts helping and shoot at her…..yayyy, then Ethan handcuffs himself to grace to keep her close then they get into a car and drive away, she drives but then she wants him to drive instead because she sucks….understandable but first they have to get into a new car so he tracks down an MIA smart car which ends up being a small yellow car Lolo

They get inside and Ethan is driving….anyways they drive through the city, down some stairs no wait sorry they roll down the stairs in the car where when they land they somehow switch places somehow….yeah what the? So now Grace has to drive…..then they head into a subway on a train track to escape….but then Grace leaves the car and handcuffs Eathan to the wheel but a train is coming so he has to break loose but instead right at the last brief second he just breaks the wheel off so how he has a wheel handcuffed to him lolo….then his 2 friends sorry 3 friends come to pick him up in a van, where they make camp at an abandoned building where they look at the computer and notice an invisible person appear on the camera turns out the AI is helping Ethan’s ghost of the past Gabrial vanish……I wonder why? So yes Ethan saw him….and Ilsa Faust tells the group the guys name that he’s Gabriel…..she clearly knows him well she says there’s nothing to know about him he is a ghost…

So now Ethan wants to go in alone to go after Gabriel because he doesn’t want any of his friends to die and since the AI and Gabriel already know who they are and their full names….this cannot be good, but the group says we must stick together and start thinking like an AI to stop this….uh huh let’s see how well that goes….

So then Ethan and Ilsa head to this private party that’s going on because that’s where Gabriel will be at…..anyways at the party we see that Grace is there but Gabriel bumps into her asks her if he can but her a drink she refuses says I’m waiting for someone and Gabriel says so am i…let’s wait together…then he says I’m Gabriel, then she says whatever u say…and then Gabriel says and u r Grace…..which gets her spooked and she sees his henchwoman sitting behind then at a chair…..so then Gabriel says let me tell u ur story…….dun dun dunnn….

So anyways Ethan and Ilsa come into the party and Gabriel knows that because he sees him on the camera on his phone from the front entrance, so Ethan enters and Gabriel says it’s been a long time Ethan…….also anyways if yall are wondering who this buyer is there waiting for? It’s a woman named Alanna Mitsopolis / The White Widow played by Vanessa Kirby….anyways so comes down and says all their names, clearly she knows their names…..then they sit down upstairs to have a conversation….Gabriel says u can give me the 2 keys or u can give them to an old friend Ethan….if u choose Ethan then u know what’s gonna happen…..he also says to Ethan u have no idea the power I represent…..

Then the White Widow says this party was created by the person in charge and then Gabriel says something and u can say the party creator is here….or something like that, then Ethan stands up looks around which all the lights on the walls turn into blue circuit lines with a big black circle in the middle representing a eyeball……ohhhhhhh yeah the person that put this party together is the AI killing machine………then they sit down which Gabrial says I’m not here for the key besides I’ll have it tomorrow…..I know the future, Tonight someone is gonna die it’s either gonna he u Grace or u Ilsa, which is it gonna be…..I’ll see u tomorrow…and Ethan tries to convince the White Widow to not give it to him but she says sorry Ethan…..then Gabriel walks away but Ethan tries to walk up to him but the Guards stop him, he says if any of them die then there won’t be no limits or distance to me finding u and killing u….now that is for certain….then Gabriel says I’ll let u choose who dies, then he says it was nice seeing u then he leaves…

Ethan tells Ilsa to fight and he tells Grace to sit there so then they attack the guards but Grace escapes with the key…….do now Ethan has to go after her so he has his friends locate her using satellites….but the satellites are getting hacked by the AI dun dun dun….then the AI starts mimicking Benjis voice to tell him to go left and go right…..but it ain’t Benji saying that so he heads out on person on a boat to go help Ethan…while that happens uh Grace bumps into Gabrial on a small bridge and she pulls out 2 knifes which he says so be it…then they fight and fight, until she gets knocked onto the ground then Ilsa shows up to fight then Gabrial says I was hoping it be u…then she pulls a sword out and Gabrial pulls a knife out then they fight…..

Then Ethan gets cornered into a narrow alley way where the AI computer starts talking to him through the ear com….he says it doesn’t matter besides u r done…..then that henchwoman shows up and a henchmen to corner Ethan…a fight happens Ethan knocks out both people and spares the henchwomans life for some reason then he leaves…..anyways so Gabriel gets the upper hand and stabs Ilsa uhhhh ohhhhh yeah she now dead….noooooo

So then Ethan shows up to see Ilsa dead and he’s sad…then Benji shows up, damn…..so next day the team come up with a plan to get onto the train that Gabriel is gonna be on so they can get info on what the key opens, but they need to sneak onto the train undetected so of course there making masks for themselves also they recruit Grace…they give her the option of death, go to prison or join us join the cause, we stick together but we can’t promise to keep u safe but we will try….it takes some convincing but she hesitantly agrees…..

So the plan Ethan comes up with is to have her wear a mask of the White Widow and take her place on the train and Ethan wears a mask of her right hand man….so he can protect her…then they get the info about the key when they sell it then Ethan takes it back and parachutes off the train……yes I know sounds bonkers, even Grace says what? Ur gonna parachute off the train?….well when u put it like that yeah it sounds weird, then well while they discuss it unfortunately the mask machine gets broken but was able to make the mask for Grace…but not a mask for Ethan so now Ethan has to find another way onto the train and he let’s Grace know she has to go in the train alone which she says alone? Oh no no…oh and Ethan says after all this go find the MIA guy tell him Ethan Hunt sent u, that he trusts him…and that u accept the mission….ohhhhhhh

Then Ethan says I promise I’ll get on the train I’ll drive a motorcycle onto it plus u need to be on the train to do the transfer to the buyer….which she says I’ll need more details then that, which Benji says trust me more details gets in the way…..lolo then she says promise u will make it onto the train and Ethan says I promise u I will be there….so she goes on board the train disguised she also waits till the real White Widow goes into her room and she knocks her out, to take her spot…..also Gabrial is on board with his henchwoman….he goes to the front of the train locks the door and kills the drivers then destroys the break so it keeps moving uh oh….

So anyways the buyer ends up being the MIA guy so they sit down to do the transaction….the White Widow tells her henchmen to stand outside of the cart room there in….so they can talk privately, oh while this is happening Ethan has trouble getting onto the train so he has to take an alternate route up a mounting that Benji tells him to take…..so anyways Gabriel has a small chat with the leader of the government guy and he tells Gabriel that he wants to create an alliance with each other go use the AI for themselves and for the greater good but also must get rid of the government who thinks outdated and Gabriel says so let me see if I understand this ur the only one who knows where the machine is located? The guy says tbats correct then Gabriel pulls a knife out and slits the guys throat….Jesus

Then he turns around and says and u my dear are gonna betray me because Ethan sparred ur life then he attacks his henchwoman and stabs her…leaves her for dead yikes, things are getting weird…..so the transaction is going well the White Widow asks a personal favor she asks if the MIA guy can wipe Grace’s identity and charges clear for her….and he says ok I’ll do that and here’s the payment 10 million all ahe had to do is transfer it to her bank and it’s all gold….she hands him the key parts and he puts them together yayy the key wasn’t a fraud because he sticks them together and it lights up so it is real oh joy…..

But then as the money is about to transfer she decides not to accept and she leaves the room then the real White Widow stumbles into the room….uh oh, so now they head after the phoney….anyways so Ethan makes it to the top of the mountain where Benji says u gotta jump off the cliff which Ethan says jump off the cliff? Are u serious? So many things can go wrong here!!….lololo the fact that they’re acknowledging how stupid this sounds is so meta……but then Benji snaps and says GIVE ME A BREAK IM UNFER TONS OF PRESSURE!!….then Ethan drives off to another mountain ramp nearby where he dives off the mountain then deploys the parachute…..ok Tom Cruise is a crazy man he did this stunt all on his own…

Anyways at this moment Grace is cornered by the henchmen and is about to be killed after another henchmen grabs the key, but Ethan comes smashing in through the window knocking the men onto the ground……saving Grace, yayyyyyy so anyways during all this while he is getting loose of his parachute so he doesn’t get sucked outside…Gabriel comes in and takes the key so Ethan tells Grace to go stop the train while he goes fights Gabrial…..

So she heads to go stop the train but the door is locked so she has to walk on the side of the train all by herself…impressive, anyways Ethan gets on top of the train where Gabriel looks down at his watch sighs then runs over to Ethan and they start fighting….they go under a tunnel and have to stay flat on the top all while fighting, we’ve seen this before in Indiana Jones 5…but here it’s done way better….anyways Gabriel pulls out 2 knifes….one of being his own, the other one is Grace’s knife, anyways the 2 MIA guys show up to corner Ethan which gives Gabriel the time to escape he jumps off the side of the train and lands on a padded vehicle waiting for him…he planned this all out then we the audience see the bridge wayyyy ahead blow up yeah he placed bombs, his plan is to sink the train uh oh…

So Ethan tells the 2 MIA guys everyone on this train is gonna die unless u do as a I say…so they listen to him and go inside and lure everyone to the back of the cart…and I love this scene because the head MIA guy asks what are u doing? And the MIA guy says sir since ur technically not here…best not u need to worry about it……lololo

Anyways Ethan goes to Grace and he shows her he got the key, they didn’t lose because she just said Gabriel he got the key…..I couldn’t stop the train it’s my fault….then we see Gabriel trying to locate the key in his pocket but instead he locates the lighter that Ethan gave Grace earlier lolo and the final words of this movie from Gabriel Is ETHAN!!!!!

So then the both Ethan and Grace go outside to detach the train from the carts so the entire train doesn’t fall into the river….so they do that and the train falls into the river but now one of the train carriages carts is hanging off the edge so they run towards inside the next cart before this one falls….and of course, u can imagine that things become hard for instance they are climbing through the kitchen part and the grease falls on the floor and the stove is still on so the carriage get lit on fire…..then they make it to the next carriage and that one falls into the river….for the last carriage they have to go through well there’s a piano dangling from the cord that’s holding it into the floor, and if it falls well the platform on the right side there standing on will get pushed into the river behind them…so Ethan jumps onto the left side of the carriage then asks Grace to jump he will grab her so she does and in the last brief second the piano falls knocking the items and door into the river…

So now they have to climb up and Ethan is hanging off a railing but Grace looses her momentum and Ethan has to grab her but now he’s slipping…..uh oh, so as soon as we think there gonna fall, well the henchwoman comes in and grabs them saving them….takes them into the next cart where she goes and takes a seat and is almost dying So in her dying breath…Ethan asks her what is this key used to open? And she first says Gabriel was right about u sparing my life…why did u do that? Which Ethan doesn’t respond…then he asks again and she says the submarine in the artic ocean, ohhhh so now they have location of where and what the key opens…oh and henchwoman dies, oh bummer….

So anyways Ethan now decides to open up the second parachute that was packed but it can only hold one person but Grace says its OK go…this was the plan, so then Ethan jumps and swings away, and the 2 MIA guys come in and shove her aside and is about to shoot Ethan but the MIA guy hesitates and doesnt……..maybe he’s starting to realize Ethan is on the side of good even if he goes Rogue…

So anyways they help Grace up then the MIA leader comes in she says I’m glad ur here….Ethan told me I can trust u…he says did he now? And she says and I accept the mission….which he does a little scoff, then we get a monolog about how if u choose the accept this mission u gotta go save the world…we’re counting on u Ethan yada yada….all while Ethan lands and Benji finds him and drives him away…then the final shot of this film Is of the submarine under the frozen ocean and that’s it for Part 1…..guess we’ll have to wait until next year for Part 2 to come out to see how this story ends….

Overall I freaking loved this movie honestly I gotta give mad respect to Tom Cruise for doing all practical stunts the guy is crazy, the fact he will jump off cliffs just for it to be practical says how much he cares about the Mission Impossible franchise……so yeah he deserves the credit…also I really liked the idea of an evil AI killer machine being the baddie, I mean the rate we’re going with the AI were making I think we will be there sooner then later unfortunately….the whole idea of AI and robots creep me out…because I have a feeling they’d turn on us……so I’m gonna give Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part 1 a solid 10/10 plz go check it out and go see it in Dolby Cinema….
