Evil Dead Rise: before I get to far into this let’s start off with a trailer shall we?

Yeah if u can’t tell this is ohhh boy where do I even begin well firstly I should warn yall if any of yall don’t like gore, especially tons of gore ur gonna not enjoy this film or review…..also leave now if u must also fair warning massive spoilers ahead of course, anyways let’s get into the review shall we?

So we surprisingly start off in a cabin in the middle of the woods oh nice wonder if the film will be in here for the rest of the film? Oh wait no it isn’t…..instead, we just start off here, btw this film basically just down right from the beginning tells u hey we warned u this film is going to be gory, now suffer the consequences or leave now…..so unfortunately I forget the 3 main characters we open up with but all u need to know is they ain’t important but 2 of them are female and one of them is a boyfriend so let’s call them Tiffany, Anne and Dumb A$$ lolo…..so Anne and Dumb A$$ came to this cabin with Tiffany for a nice getaway but unfortunately Tiffany got sick quote on quote now there watching an eye on her…..anyways so Anne is at the dock reading a book but Dumb A$$ comes out with a drone and he says I gave that B***ch her meds….wow what a nice boyfriend huh?

So ok this is where the gore starts so again if anyone wants to leave…..leave now, so Anne goes back to the cabin to check on Tiffany where she’s asleep also she complains to her about how her boyfriend is brain dead….anyways so Anne opens her book and starts reading but Tiffany sits up and starts quoting the book she’s reading somehow then she falls over to the ground where she starts having a seizure……then she wakes back up grabs ahold of Anne’s braid and says who’s brain dead now? And she rips her hair off…..yeah not even 5 min into the film and we get a scalping scene this scene made me winch…..then Anne walks out to Dumb A$$ with a missing scalp which Tiffany is behind her holding her scalp which she drops then she goes up to the drone grabs it takes it to her face let’s it scratch her face up then she falls into the river which the boyfriend goes in after her but she drags him under and starts ripping him apart then she comes flying out of the river with the words Evil Dead Rise coming up behind her from the distance get it Because it’s called Evil Dead Rise and the words are rising….thats clever

So I needed to describe that entire scene in every single detail but from now on here I won’t be doing that because if we do well we’d be here for a long time……so if ur wondering where the plot of this film is located well it takes place 1 day earlier from the events of the beginning of this film I just described where a woman named Beth who just checked if she’s a pregnant or not spoiler alert she is but we don’t find out till later Anyway she decides to go pay her sister named Ellie along with her kids Kassie Danny and Bridget…..Kassie being the youngest, anyways they live in an apartment like on the top floor of it….this apartment is due to be demolished next month so they have to locate a new place unfortunately for Ellie she just gotten through a nasty divorce yikes also she’s estranged from her sister she tries calling her up when her husband left but she didn’t Answer but now she just randomly shows up on this night

BTW I quickly wanna mention 2 specific things 1. Our main characters didn’t deserve what they got throughout this film especially by the end of it and 2. If ur wondering where the Necronomicon comes into play? Well Ellie sends the kids to go pick up pizza while she tells her sister Beth of the brak up she just had recently oh and how she tried calling her 2wice but Beth never answered…..anyways the kids return through the parking garage with the pizza but unfortunately an earthquake happens randomly which causes everything to shake and the pizza falls on the floor oh no not the pizza just kidding there’s worse things to be worried about such as a hole in the floor opens up which our stupid kid named Danny who is a DJ btw goes to the hole and sees there’s a vault underneath where he goes down into ans guess what he sees? Crosses hanging everywhere on the ceiling….yeah thats a sign to get the f**k out of there but nope instead he finds the Necronomicon and some vinyl disk then takes it back to his room

BTW if any of yall wondering what the book of the dead or the Necronomicon looks like? Well in the original film including the 2013 film the Necronomicon is a brown leathery type book that has a disfigured face in the form of a screaming face also the book is made of human flesh btw….ewww, anyways in this film the Necronomicon looks different it doesn’t have a face ir instead has brown veins on it…..and on the side of the book is sharp animalistic teeth holding it together…ok seriously get rid of that book u bimbo….btw if any of yall are wondering why does it look different? Well get this the director said in the evil dead universe which yes consists of evil dead 2013 so that’s not a reboot….but anyways he says in this universe of evil dead there’s 3 copies of the Necronomicon which this book in this film so happens to be one of the 3 copies….hmm that’s clever

Anyway so Danny starts listening to the vinyls on his DJ stand jeepers are u dumb? Btw unfortunately Bruce Campbell doesn’t make an appearance in this film but if u listen hard enough u can vaguely hear his voice in the vinyl records yeah he’s voicing the priest in the vinyl record….so anyways Yada Yada the vinyls start mentioning “the book of the dead” Then starts speaking out incantations…..which is where things officially go to shite, the mother heads into the elevator to go do laundry but what happens is the elevator starts acting up it zooms all the way back up then the wires comes out of the elevator, levitating her…..grabbing ahold of her and oh yeah breaking her limbs which we hear her bones snap……jeepers

And this is where my anxiety officially kicked in…the mother comes back starts boiling eggs, and mentions how she drempt about killing her kids then having them get possessesed so they can be one happy family yikes then she turns around gets on all fours and her spine starts snapping we hear the noise and the mother tells Beth to protect the kids to not allow it to get them….then ok im sorry to anyone who is either eating or just ate but she starts rapidly vomiting on the ground and keep in mind this isn’t the typical dark green vomit we see in like the exorcist….no this is white chunky vomit u would see urself vomit up….yeah sorry if I ruined yalls appetite but hey I suffered through that so uhhhh u guys will suffer as well lolo

So they try taking her the hospital but uh the stairs have collapsed on it’d self so no stairs, elevator is broken and there all the way high up there in the apartment and it’s raining so no one can hear them scream for help….like I said creative reasoning for our main characters not being able to leave, so they place her in bed try closing her eyes but the eyes keep opening up and up……ehhhhhh, anyways she ends up waking up and her skin starts heating up so they dump her into the bath where Beth goes and grabs ice but as soon as the body hits the tub of water the water starts boiling then she comes out of the tub where Bridget says mommy and what Ellie says next is truly unnerving “mommy is with the maggots now” ehhhh so she gets out of thr tub and attacks Beth with a tattoo needle cutting her in the cheek…..then licking it while saying let me give it a lick……ewwww also nope she’s a goner…..but for now they subdue Ellie by pushing her out into the hallway where well how do I even explain this she grabs the next door neighbor and chomps his eye out of his socket theb spits it out into the the younger boys mouth which he swallows it….ewww then chocks to death then the land lord comes out with a shotgun and tries using it but she kills him……jeepers talk about a blood bath anyways Bridget yells at Danny saying this is all ur fault….

Honestly I like this scene because u really feel the impact and the emotions….it feels like how siblings would bicker anyways also this is his fault so he decides to show aunt Beth the book….oh joy while this happens Bridget leaves the room where uh we see Bridget is getting possessed….she checks her wound and it’s turning black then all a sudden black ooze comes spilling out her nose, then eyes then ears ewwww…..

So then Beth shows up behind her to ask what’s going on and she sees Bridget chomping on a glass cup….cutting up her cheeks, gross……then she tries attacking, and here comes the infamous scene…she knocks Beth on the ground, then takes a cheese grader then slices Beth across the leg…..yikes ok it’s official after this film I’m never looking at a cheese grader the same way ever again….anyways so Beth sets Bridget on fire which kills her for now then Danny ties Bridget up in covers and puts her on the bed….while this is happening the possessesed Ellie tries convincing Kassie to open the door which Kassie says u don’t look good mommy….and Ellie says nothing a gold old big hug and kiss won’t fix….jeepers kid how dumb are u? Would u really fall for this? Unfortunately she is dumb and decides to unlock the door which allows Ellie to grab ahold of Kassies neck so Beth and Danny come and save her and close the door on her

Beth asks Danny to let her listen to the vinyl again maybe there’s an answer to fixing this but they don’t have power which she says I can fix that so she hot wires the DJ booth thing and shuts the doors, puts on a headset and listens to it

While that happens we see Ellie decides to go through the air ducts and we see Bridget levitating out of bed behind them uh oh…..oh and if ur wondering what the vinyl says well it says there’s no way to get rid of the demon….the priest tried everything including burning the victims but it did nothing to them….uhhh oh just then Ellie comes crawling out the vents and goes to the record player, sticks her finger on it and continues playing it through her mouth jeepers that’s creepy then they start attacking each other while Bridget is attacking Danny…she stabs and slices Danny then does vomit blood on him so he’s a goner right? Yep he becomes possessed in a little bit but for now Kassie hides under the table while Beth is struggling against Ellie but Kassie tosses her a pair of scissors and she stabs it through Ellies nose…..out talk about a major nose bleed….so both Beth and Kassie leave the room and try to leave through the elevator but slight issue the dead bodies start coming to life

And Ellie comes crawling out….while Beth tries getting the emergency door way open that’s locked up good so she grabs the shot gun but Ellie shows up so she shoots off one of Ellies legs and arms…..so then the other 2 kids come and so the 2nof them run towards the elevator and try to get it to work luckily Kassie sees what is preventing the door from clothing it’s a pair a keys Ellie dropped earlier so Kassie grabs it and the elevator door closes yayyy….and now we get one of the most ruthless scenes In this film…..both possessesed kids start shoving there hands and limbs through Ellie and they combine into well what I can only describe as that giant mutated clumped together zombie called the rat King in the Last of Us part 2…..yeah like that jeepers anyway the elevator starts filling up with blood which starts filling it up and drowning them oh and the clumped up bodies come out of the vent above them and tries to grab them then the elevator doors open up ans blood comes spilling out of it….uh huh nice shining reference

Anyway now covered in blood they head to the parking garage to get into the car and leave but unfortunately the garage door button is taking a while to work and they accidentally get there tire stuck in a hole so now they have to hide behind there car away from the monster that’s lurking around the car…..so then in a last minute attempt they decide to run towards the garage door that’s now opened but it’s closing so they slide underneath but Kassie gets grabbed by the creature so Beth has to break through the side of the fence to get inside…..anyways the monster takes Kassie into the truck that has a wood shipper on the back of it…..keep that in mind, and the demon takes a chainsaw than tries to decapite Kassie but Beth comes out of nowhere to save her by shooting the demon……she then gets the demon to come out in front of the wood shipper then she tells Kassie to turn on the machine which she does

Then Kassie takes the chainsaw jams it into the demons face pushing them back into the wood shipper which starts shredding them and blood coming out the other end of the machine which is now facing Beth and raining blood all over her…….Jesus that’s alot of blood, now all that’s left is Ellies head and she shoves her head into the wood shipper so yay trauma for life I feel like these 2 will need massive therapy afterwards

Anyway film ends with us seeing the female from the beginning of this film heading out of the apartment to go see her cousin at the cabin….dun dun dunn, and when she gets to the garage she sees a blood bath everywhere and she panics but then the demon comes out of nowhere and guess posseess her….the end leaving it open ended for a sequel which I hope happens because damn this film was a really brilliant yet disturbing film…..I mean wow hats off to the director he knew how to make an unnerving horror film……this is what horror movies should feel like, it’s supposed to be disturbing make u feel uneasy…..also hats off to the actors they did such a great job portraying actual fear…..so I’ll give this film a solid 10/10 go check it out…..it’s in theaters
