So I wanna start off with mentioning that for thus film James Gunn decided to cut down the grim dark moments from the first film because it may have traumatized kids, and decided to go back to the original goofy lightheartedness the original series was known for….anyways let’s get into the review shall we

So we start off with the Scooby-Doo gang are attending a red carpet event for the opening of there exhibit in the museum, how cool…..anyways at this exhibit is all the monster costumed they’ve unmasked…..including the Miner 49er

Yeah so all the iconic monsters………also there’s a news reporter woman named Heather Jasper Howe…..who is there reporting on the mystery gang…….anyways then out of nowhere on the top of the building a guy wearing all black….black leather pants, black gloves, black boots, black shirt, black trench coat and a robotic looking mask with spiky wire hair…….named the Evil Masked Figure…..wow that’s a terrible name….also the Pterodactyl ghost comes to life and grabs most of the costume props……minus the Chickenstein because Shaggy and Scooby-Doo get dragged across it oh and the Space Kook gets left behind…..so with that incident now the Scooby-Doo gang for no reason is being blamed on for this….yeah don’t ask because I don’t know why either……oh also at this event Velma meets a guy named Patrick….whos played by the original version of Richie from the Tim Curry IT miniseries…….yes he’s her love interest in this film….

So the gang goes back to their hideout to keep low because the news is framing them as well evil and all that…..wow jeez fake news oh and everyone in Cools-Vill is believing the fake news as well……yeahhh jeez, so they went from the most popular and loved people and then the most hated people just in one night because fake news…..wow that’s definitely hits close to home because that’s how alot of fake news is like these days…..so anyways they start investing who was behind this they decide to go on there computer to investigate about the Pterodactyl ghost……here we find out the original Pterodactyl ghost was a mad scientist named Dr. Jonathan Jacobo who wanted stole millions of dollars to help fund his experiments which involved creating monsters…..wow what a nut job……oh no way he’s be relevant to the story of this film…no he’s just a completely random guy the gang randomly brings up and the fulm gives a flash back scene to his crime so the audience can see……yeah no hes secretly behind this no….btw here’s the clip

So anyways they say nope it couldn’t have been him behind last night’s attack because he was sent to prison and he’s reportedly dead after he tried escaping the prison by building pair of wings to fly away from it…but instead he fell straight into the rocky ocean beneath him that surrounds the prison…..hmm guess that’s proof enough he won’t be the secret baddie at all nooo sir…..……oh also Scooby-Doo and Shaggy make a vow to stop acting like doofuses and act more like serious mystery solvers…..uh huh can’t wait to see how long that’s lasts….btw Jonathan Jacobos old prison mate named Jeremiah Wickles has recently been released from prison…..if ur curious, he’s the original black knight ghost….

Anyways the gang heads to Old Man Wickles house they go up to ring the doorbell but he isn’t there instead a trap door opens, placing the gang in a giant life-size mouse trap board game trap…..anyways Daphne frres them using her makeup kit because I guess that’s how that works…….btw if ur wondering what they discover in the house? Well they discover the black knight ghost who well chases them…..maybe old man Wickles is behind this? So they then leave after investigating the house and escaping the black knight

So then Shaggy and Scooby-Doo go on their own to investigate some clues….they go investigate at a bar where a bunch of the old villains the Scooby-Doo gang locked away in prison go and hangout…..btw outside the place they find Patrick there beating up someone….ok that’s suspicious, then they both go in disguises inside to talk to Jeremiah Wickers….but all they get from him is he’s nuts and he hates the Scooby-Doo gang….understandable, so huh clearly it wasn’t old man Wickles in the suit since he was at this bar…..strange

So the scooby gang regroups, this time they go and investigate an abandoned factory…..where inside they discover a few things when they decide to split off…….Shaggy and Scooby-Doo find a fridge filled with chemicals which they decide to drink….. which starts turning them into well weird versions of themselves…..one of it turns Shaggy into a female, another turns Scooby-Doo into the Tasmanian devil…….ok seriously Warner Brothers? Yall just flexing the properties u own? Also heres that scene enjoy

So while that happens Fred and Velma and Daphne locate Old Man Wickles who’s talking to a group of investors….they come in to interrupt him thinking he has an evil plan he was doing but guess what it turns out it wasn’t a evil plan….no he’s planning to open up an amusement park which is why he was talking to the investors, well good job mystery Inc for ruining a guys dream…..anyways they ask him about his old friend Jonathan Jacobo which he says, friend? I hated the guy he stole the girl I fell in love with and also stole my Tater tots….well ain’t that wonderful?

Anyways so then while this happens, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo accidentally stumble upon a machine and a control panel….mistaken it as some sort of futuristic music pad they start playing around with it because of course they would……anyways and to no one shocker we see that the panel is putting in monsters into the machine to bring them to life uh ohh…..and we see which monsters the machine pops out…..

Uh oh good job u idiots……anyways so they run away, shocker and they run into the gang, they all run into the 10,000-volt ghost which tries to electrocute them but they get into the van and ride away but uh oh guess who chases them down? The Pterodactyl ghost…..and we get a pretty dang cool car chase scene…..after that happens the gang goes back to their hideout and turn on the news…..take a wild guess what they see and hear, they see all the monsters running through town causing havoc and the Evil Masked Figure riding on top of a flying pirate boat….huh? Asking for people to give him mystery inc……..so then we see Heather Jasper Howe on the news asking the mystery gang to turn themselves in…..so now with the gang feeling ganged up on by the town folks they decide to go hide out at their old tree house base they made when younger…..which brings back old memories for them…..awww…..

Anyway so while Shaggy and Scooby-Doo are outside tossing rocks in a river guess who appears? Captain Cutler’s ghost comes out of the water, so the gang leaves with the panel which I forget to mention that they took when the monsters came to life…..so anyways the gang returns back to the factory to find out who the Evil Masked Figure is and end all this….when they get there, they encounter the 10,000-volt ghost and the black knight ghost…..which Fred decides to face against the black knight ghost on a motorcycle while Daphne gets the jump cables so they can attach it to the 10,000-volt ghost and attach it to the black knight ghost to end both those monsters existence….while the rest of the gang runs inside so Shaggy and Scooby-Doo can go and place the panel back in its place so they can try to destroy the monsters….

So anyways they go inside and the skeletons are chasing them so Velma decides to lure the skeletons away to let Shaggy and Scooby-Doo go place the panel back in its place…….wow good on them for stepping up and doing something that is dangerous to them…..anyways so Fred is fighting against the black knight ghost but he gets knocked onto the ground and Daphne gets electrocuted so they both are lying on the ground near each other talking about how they don’t want to die…….awww that this might be the end…..but just there luck they do get up grab the jump cords and attach it to the black knight ghosts crotch…..ouch, then attaches the cords to a pipe then tosses it to the 10,000-volt ghost which causes the black knight to start getting electrocuted….until they both explode yayyyy…..anyways so Velma escapes the skeletons ans she bumps into Patrick, believing he’s the Evil Masked Figure but he isn’t…..instead the Pterodactyl comes out of nowhere and takes him away…

So then the rest of the gang comes in and ready to place the panel back but then the rest of the monsters even the Evil Masked Figure comes in……the Evil Masked Figure standing on top of the railing asking for the panel back……well demanded it back, then the monsters start attacking our group….the Tat monster grabs ahold of the mystery gang except Scooby-Doo now everything is looking like it’s grim and the mystery gang will die…..also Scooby-Doo being cornered in a corner but luckily he bumps into a fire hydrant which then he decides to grab and shoot the Tar monster which freezes up the Tar….Shaggy tosses Scooby-Doo the panel which he uses as a skateboard to go around on the Tar to freeze up the monster to free his friends……anyways so Scooby-Doo places the panel back in its place and presses the button which causes the monsters to well melt….yayyyy so now his friends are saved…..and the Evil Masked Figure well falls off the railing because the platform starting collapsing so he is just dangling there….

So anyways thr cops come and arrest the Evil Masked Figure we see them all go outside where everyone and I mean everyone including the news people are surrounded them…..the gang take the mask off the Evil Masked Figure revealing its Heather Jasper Howe that’s behind all this, wow gee who could have seen that coming……sighhh, what a shocker…..also they do ask the important question so if she was the Evil Masked Figure then how is it the Evil Masked Figure appeared on sight sometimes when Heather Jasper Howe was also there…..well it’s easy her camera man named Ned helped out…..ohhhhh, yeah in those situations he put on thr costume and pretended to be the Evil Masked Figure…..ok that’s clever…..now if u think that’s it and the mystery is solved, welp no….we have a second plot twist and I can tell u this one was a bit of a doozy, Velma reveals by pulling off Heather Jasper Howes face off that there was no Heather Jasper Howe instead the corporate is Jonathan Jacobo……dun dun dun, yeah so I want yall to let that sink in ur head….he had 2 masks on at the same time… a female mask and a Evil Masked Figure mask….I wonder how he didn’t get sweaty underneath it……

So yeah didn’t see that one coming huh? And of course he and Ned get sent to jail good finally……the day is saved and the film is also finally over….honestly overall I do love this film I highly recommend it, I’ll give it a solid wh 8.8/10
