Mortal Kombat 1995: ok so im gonna start off with saying, this film….is way more worth the watch then the stupid 2021 version……its on HBO Max as of right now……….I recommend giving this film a watch….its a 90s cheesy PG-13 action popcorn flick…..now I know the PG-13 might pass off some Mortal Kombat fans…but keep in mind back then whwn this film came out….the company and director wanted to make this film accessible to kids…..don’t ask why….they just wanted to…..lets get into the review shall we…..

• so we start odd with the opening logos…..reason I mention the opening logos…is because they have the Mortal Kombat theme playing during it….here’s the theme that was playing….enjoy 

MORTAL KOMBAT!!!……..dear lord i laughed so hard hearing that during the logos…so anyways in this film……we get introduced to our 3 main characters…..Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade….Liu Kang has woken up from a nightmare he was having…it was of a villain named Shang Tsung…..and he killed Liu Kang brother…….so thats what he was having a nightmare about….BTW I’m going to get this out of the way but I just love the way Shang Tsung says his iconic line in this film…..

Shang Tsung: ur soul is mine

Hehehe…..also heres a compilation video of Shang Tsung saying that line in this film….u will see what I mean by he does it I a great way…..

Anyways……so yes he is haunted by his brothers death………….understandable….then we cut to Johnny Cage……he’s on set doing an action movie….and If any of u know about Johnny Cage….then u would know this is in line for him…..because he’s a movie actor………anyways he bumps into some guy….that he knows…..I think….or at least recognizes…….then this guy hands Johnny Cage a scroll…which is an invention to the Mortal Kombat….which he accepts……then tbat guy leaves the building and we see it was Shang Tsung in disguise……ummmmmm ok then…….then we cut to Sonya Blade and Jax (BTW Jax has hair in this film….and isn’t important to the story…..at all…..whoopee doo)…….they are hunting down Kano…..and BTW he looks alot more accurate to the video games In my opinion……….they locate him at a night club…..and try to take him down…but he escapes….they chase him to some docks…..where a boat is at….and guess who else is there….Liu Kang and Johnny Cage……..we can see how snobby Johnny can be…..he gives Liu Kang money and says u there take my luggage onto the boat….here’s money ……Liu Kang looks at him confusingly….Johnny Cage says that’s right u put my luggage on the boat and u get payed….its simple as that….do u understand….which Liu Kang says he does…and he grabs Johnny’s cash from him and his luggage….and just tosses his luggage into the river……..hahahahaha……..then they get onto the boat……including Sonya…..because she saw Kano on the boat……..BTW this boat looks weird……the front of the boat looks like the dragon….which is the design of the Mortal Kombat logo ……..weird choice but ok……anyways Shang Tsung is on the boat as well…he tells them they been chosen for Mortal Kombat…..so Shang Tsung can take over earth if his team wins……shocker….then Raiden shows up…..(played by Christopher Lambert)….and may I say he’s the best part of this film in my opinion…….anyways he tells Shang Tsung to bug off…which he does…..because thats what bad guys do…they listen to good guys…..hmmmmm…..🤣🤣……so then Raiden leaves…..after he gives vague words to our main characters……then he leaves……then our characters get to the island…….and I laughed out loud at when Johnny Cage tries carrying his many luggages by himself off the small boats they are riding in…..yeah I forget how they get into small boats….but still…..the reason I laughed is because he tries grabbing all 4 or 6 of his luggages…..and tries to get out of the boat….and he falls face first straight down in the ocean……pfffff……🤣🤣🤣

….that scene always gets me……..anyways then they get onto the island and have to walk up tons and tons and tons and tons…of stairs up a mountain…up to a building on top of the mountain……and we see Johnny trying to carry his luggages….and he drops them…..hahahahaha 🤣🤣🤣….he tripped……..pfff……when they get into the building….they see a table of food layed….out….and well this happens

Ladies and gentlemen I introduce to u outdated ice affects ……also what’s with that random guy and his constant grunting…….(I would try try mimic the grunting…but I don’t know how to…..soooo)……also this scene shows us Sub Zero…..BTW thats the major downside to this film….Sub Zero and Scorpion….they done poorly….they be working together in this film…..since when…..anyways after this scene…they start to explore around……and they just so luckily catch sight of a woman who is running away…..her name is Kitana……..anyways they start to follow her….running through small tunnels…..and they find themselves in another room with a table and food…and guess who’s at the table

Kano and Goro………and how do I say this but um Goro is done oh so much better in this film……he’s actually intimidating……..and oh yeah doesn’t grunt…..he speaks words…….yahhhh finally…..so then Shang Tsung enters the room and they start talking about there plan……there plan is to take over earth……if they win the Mortal Kombat……and they have to win……..anyways now since our heros hear the plan….um…I forget what happens then…so let’s skip a bit…we go through a montage of them fighting against Shang Tsung men…and yes our heros keep winning…..but then we get to Sonya about to go up against one of Shang Tsung men…and guess who has go up against her……Kano……yep …darn right freaking Kano….

Shang Tsung: I have something for u my dear

Sonya: I want nothing from u

Shang Tsung: on the Contrar…..I have something u want very much

God dammit,  have I not said yet that this Shang Tsung is 10 times better then the Shang Tsung in the 2021 version…..because it’s true……anyways Kano fights Sonya Blade…….and I’m surprised but she kills Kano, here and then…..reason I’m surprised is because I’d thought they save his death for near end of film……she just wraps her legs around his neck and snaps his neck with her legs……oooooffff…and then right away with barley an cut away….we see Johnny Cage running in some random woods….just some random woods…don’t ask…and he bumps into Scorpion…..

BTW how do I describe this scene….well heres the beat way I can do it…..so scorpion shows up and says GET OVER HERE!!…..which is an iconic line of his….and then a snake like chain comes out of his hand?…..which in the game is just a normal chain that comes out of his sleeve……not out of his hand….and last I checked….its not supposed to have a tongue and eyes and teeth!!…..but sure whatever…..liberties I guess…….they both break out into fighting…..then somehow he Teleports Johnny Cage to like the Neather-Realm….I think…..I can’t tell….anyways there’s a bit of construction platforms for them to fight on……Johnny Cage starts doing acrobatics…and climbing up the structures……Scorpion literally says….GET DOWN HERE!!……..pfffff hahahahahah 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣….that is not even a line from the game…..WTF is this movie doing ?….hahahahaha…..also it sounds so freaking dumb….I mean….GET DOWN HERE!!……..yeah ok………anyways this fight scene ends with Scorpion taking his mask off and showing his face is a skeleton….and he shoots fire out of his mouth….ok that’s freaking awesome 🔥💀……and Johnny Cage deflects the fire with a metal plate…..ok sick….and he throws it at Scorpion head…which cuts his head in half…and he dies…..don’t think about it to much….how can a man who’s already technically dead…….die again…..anyways skipping a bit…….our main characters find out they have to fight against Goro…..they see how tough he is….we see a small montage of him beating up random people………so now our main characters concerned…….which is understandable……we then skip a bit and see Johnny Cage agreeing to Shang Tsung to fight against Goro…..which Shang Tsung takes the deal…..the deal being he doesn’t harm Sonya Blade……and here’s the fight scene….

Johnny Cage goes up against Goro……and at first Goro takes off Johnny glasses and smashes them….which does tick of Johnny a bit…..anyways then Johnny Cage….ooofff….kicks Goro in the nut sack…….ooooffff…that must have hurt…..

Then we see Raiden say….Yay!!!…while accidentally punching a random guy in the crowd……I swear to God Christopher Lambert takes up every scene he’s in….he’s the only one who seems to know he’s in an B type film……don’t take it seriously….

Which he doesn’t……..anyways Johnny Cage tricks Goro to follow him up some stairs….into a cave…..towards a cliff…..which which Johnny Cage knocks Goro off the cliff….to his death….yay….but then Shang Tsung grabs Sonya Blade and Teleports her to another world….I forget where……anyways Liu Kang and Johnny Cage follow suit…..while Raiden stays behind…because he can’t follow he says…….anyways…lets take a moment to pay some respects….I mean come on this set looks freaking awesome….u can tell whoever worked on this film pit alot of care and detail in this film…..bravo to whoever directed this and made the props……👏👏…..anyways, they split up….Liu Kang bumps into Reptile….and this fight scene is ok……lets just say Reptile turns into a ninja looking character…..ok then…..then Liu Kang does a bicycle air kick……to knock him onto the floor…….yeah this is indeed a corny film….

Sew what I mean…its an OK corny fight……anyways let’s skip a small bit….Liu Kang and Johnny Cage find Shang Tsung…..and Sonya Blade…..she’s tied up…..oh joy….this film made her I a damsel in distress……..😑😑🤦‍♂️…..anyways besides this not exactly strong female woman rule scene……..lets talk about then talk a about that Johnny Cage and Liu Kang sneak in…..and Liu Kang challenges Shang Tsung to Mortal Kombat……

Ok ok ill admit it….this scene is really dang good…..we get great fighting Choreography……while avoiding some spikes that came out of the floor….also if ur wondering why Liu Kang is fighting against Shang Tsung….well its because he’s avenging his brothers death……anyways this epic fight scene ends with Liu Kang knocking Shang Tsung onto the floor of spikes…and he gets impaled….and turns into a skeleton…..alrighty then….then all the souls he sucked in….escape and go to heaven…..Liu Kang brother comes up and says bye to him…and tells him he forgives Liu Kang…..what a touching moment….and then Liu Kang and Sonya Blade and Johnny Cage meet back up with Raiden….and they do a small celebration….when I say celebration…I mean Raiden gives them a hug

But then thunder comes our of nowhere…knocks down top of a temple building and Shao Khan makes him self present in the sky, and omg he looks freaking menacing….to bad the sequel F**cks it up in all the wrong ways….

Shao Khan: u weak pathetic fools, I’ve come for ur souls 

Raiden: I don’t think so

Ladies and gentlemen I can’t stress this enough….this film is great…..it’s so corny as hell….but my god if I can’t admit this film is funny and is a guilty pleasure…..I recommend watching this film…its on HBO Max…as of right now…..I’m gonna give this film a solid 10/10
