Are You Afraid of the Dark? Curse of the Shadows limited series 

Are You Afraid of the Dark? Season 2: so from now on for new shows….im gonna write a review for each episode per week…..granted by the time I send these….u probably won’t be able to tell….but thats how I’m doing it….so stay tuned…also heres the official trailer to this second season of Are You Afraid of The Dark?….also w, there’s massive spoilers ahead…..id u don’t want this to be spoiled for u…then don’t ready this….u have been warned

Also if majority of u people, or some of u already read my review on the 90s version of this show and the 2019 version….which i wrote reviews on back in October…..if u haven’t I highly recommend u read those first…..but If u already read it then…lets get onto with this….

The Tale of the Haunted Wood: so basically this episode is the set up for the last 2 episodes…..we start off with seeing a teenage boy sneaking into into some building called Sardos Magic Mansion…..we see this teen, steals a book……..yes this is at night time,  then after that happens…..he gets chased down by this mysterious entity otherwise known as the Shadow Man……he is this dark skinned figure with sharp claws and a skeletal face….with horns……honestly I’m gonna be honest…..this time around I prefer this enemy for this series….then the 2019 bad guy thats in that series……because this monster is scary……the 2019 version has a guy named Mr Top Hat……thats not a menacing name….nor does he look scary….to me he looks like a discounted Matt Smith….or something like that….so anyways back to this episode…….the beginning ends with the teen running away in the dark forest…yeah because thats the smart place to go run into at night time…from a monstrous creature………and of course with no shock….he gets caught by the creature….now he’s gone missing….so right off the bat….I already think this is an improvement over the 2019 version….

But we’ll wait and see if they mess this up…..oh they kinda did already….this episode ruined the theme song…when I heard it I was like eh…this ain’t the theme song….heck the 2019 version kept the theme song in tact…kinda disappointed in the fact this 2021 version messed it up…..so basically skipping a bit…..meaning let’s summarize up a bit….we get introduced to our main characters…..there students…..oh and if any of u are fans of the original series…then u will enjoy the nod and references…..in this episode we see one of our main characters take our a comic…and the title says the Ghastly Grinner…(now for u of those who don’t know what that is…..well, that one is hard to describe….its basically this character that comes out of a comic book…and he always has a grin on his face…..he kills his victims by using his whatever powers to make them laugh to death…..with a grinn on there face…while blue liquid comes out of there mouths…..yikes)….so anyways after school….they get worried about there friend who hasn’t showed up…..which was the teen in the beginning of this episode….so they decide to go to Sardos Magic Mansion…(this makes no sense….because Mr Sardo was a fictional character that appeared in the midnight society groups stories….so how on gods green earth is he now physically there?…idk its beyond me….I just  role with it)…so anyways, for u of those who are fans of the original series….u will know who Sardos is…..I kinda do and don’t..oh wait I do…..he is one of my favorite recurring characters in the original series….along side with of course Doctor Vink……basically Sardo in the original series is a salesman who sells potions and stuf like that……anyways so they get there …they ask if the guy is mr Sardos….he says no…that was my grandfather….makes sense because this is a sequel series from the original series…….so thats clever..also remember how I said this episode has callbacks…well Sardos introduction is similar to the original Mr Sardo in the original 1990s version of this show….he said in the original ” that’s Sardo,  no mister. Accent on the “do”……and in the 2021 version….he says “my name is Sardo,  no mister. Accent on the “do”..

.I freaking love this episode….its making me nostalgic for the original series…oh also I do like another call back this Mr Sardo makes…..he says “either buy now, or bye now”….which is a phrase he says when we first see Mr Sardo in the original series….again I love the callbacks……heck even this Mr Sardo doesn’t like it when the kids pick up items in his shop….again similar to the version in the original series…man I’m loving this season better then the 2019 version……so anyways Sardos (played this time around, by Ryan Beil) shows them on the TV monitor that there friend stole a book from him…a spell book…mouth on the monitor they do see a mysterious entity at the door….who Sardos calls the Shadow Man…like I said I think the Shadow-Man sounds like a better name for a horror series….instead of Mr Top-Hat…..so anyways they sit down at a table…because Mr Sardos is about to tell them about a story about the Shadow-Man…also I really like this scene because our group of 5 kids have a way of telling stories….because these aren’t 5 normal kids…no..these kids are apart of a thing called the Midnight Society….which has always appeared in this series….I think one thing is obvious….in the original series…it was one group of kids for the entire seasons….that were apart of the Midnight Society…but then in the 2019 sequel reboot…it was a group of new students….now the second season is out in 2021…and once again its another group of kids this time…

I miss the layout of the original series….ill always prefer the original…granted I’ll admit it…the original series is campy and corny…..but what u expect…that show came out in the 1990s……thats how horror was like back then….and also its a kids show…granted it aired at 9pm at night…so kinda hard to tell if its meant for kids…so anyways these kids have to put candles on the table…and i like Sardos reaction…he’s like why is this necessary?…there like its apart of our tradition…can u respect them…and he’s like ah sure……so then right as he is about to tell his story..they say hey u can’t start the story like this…we have rules…and Sardos is like…of course u do…….they say u have to say …” submitted for approval of the Midnight Society “….which then he does start off saying that….he tells his story….about how a group of young kids did hide and seek…one of the girls hid in the forest…and keep in mind this is at night time….anyways so the story goes once ur in the forest at night….ur cursed and can’t escape the Shadow-Man….he will follow u….and try to abduct u…one again I think this is a more scarier concept,  instead of a guy who has immortality….so anyways…this little girl gets cursed….she sees the Shadow-Man in her pitch black room at night…..I’d like ur guys opinion….which one of these sounds the scariest 

A. a guy named Mr Top-Hat, who looks  like a discounted Matt Smith who is wearing a Top-Hat…and who is immortal….also he runs a carnival…every time tje carnival comes into town….a child or 2 go missing….also the parents memory of there kids vanish….

Or

B. a entity named the Shadow-Man, a creature that is all pitch black, has a skeletal face…has horns and sharp nails….oh and he lives in a cursed forest, which of if u step in it…ur cursed…and he’ll hunt u down and follow u at night time…even in ur room…until he can grab ahold of u and abduct u….im assuming he kills those kids…can’t be anything good….

Anyways back to the story….the girl sees the entity in her room…which scares her understandable….also the story ends with well presumably her being abducted…

We don’t see it…which does make it scarier….oh forget to mention when the Shadow-Man is near by…he can make things happen…he can turn off the lights….have the words shadow appear on ur clock or anything electronic im presuming….can turn on the TV to static…..oh also Sardos tells them that there is a lighthouse in the forest that is where there friend was last seen at before he vanished…..oh and that lighthouse is also cursed…..So anyways of course after Sardos tells them this story…they decide to head to the forest…….I do like Sardos reaction….”What!? Thats lunacy!…”Did u Imbeciles hear a word i said? Ur gonna get yourselves cursed!”….hahahahhaahh…. anyways there excuse…they need to find there missing friend….also its only 3 hours till night time so they have time to go there….….good luck with that….so they run out of the building while Mr Sardos yelled at them…” hey come back! Its to dangerous!…eh fine do whatever u want, besides im a business man…not a babysitter  “…honestly I hope this won’t be the last time we see Mr Sardos…I actually like this character so far….but I have a feeling this will be the last time we see him…so they head to the forest….they rey searching….but it now is becoming night…so they run out of the forest…anyways they think they make it out safe…but that night one of the main characters is in his room….his lights go off…his TV turns on to static…then he sees the door open,  also he sees the Shadow-Man run to him from the hallway, then disappear….so yeah there cursed….they didn’t make it out in time….and thats the end of episode 1…honestly I can’t wait to see how the next 3 episodes will play out like….this episode sets up for the last remaining 2 episodes….honestly I recommend this episode,  especially if any of u are a fan of the original series or the 2019 series….or a fan of both….this to me was a somewhat step-up from the 2019 version….to me this episode was alot more erie then the 2019 version….it feels like this show has gone back to its roots, of what this series was always like….a young horror series…to get kids into horror at an early age…..and once again i feel like I need to mention this…..blood and gore and jump scares don’t make a horror film….see a good a throughout horror film realizes on atmosphere, creepy entity, tension, a good and erie story….which this episode does…..sad to say alot of modern horror movies in my opinion lack those….and instead really on cheap jump scares and gore….its a shame…..also heres full episode of episode 1 of Are You Afraid of The Dark? Curse of The Shadows, hope u all enjoy it…..

….so anyways im gonna give this episode a solid 10/10 

The Tale of the Night Frights: so were only on episode 2, but so far im freaking loving this season over the 2019 version…..I mainly like this episode because it feels like genuine horror……so we start off with our main character Luke (yes yes I now I remember our main characters names because I watched first 2 episodes and did some rewatching of episode 1 so now I know there names)….we see him in the forest at night….he’s trying to find and locate his missing friend, the guy who’s in charge of the midnight society….named Conners…..yes Conners is the teen who went missing…….so anyways Conners bumps into Luke….they go to the lighthouse that’s in that forest…..Conners heads in and the door locks on him….Luke tries opening it and when he does Conners isn’t there….he turns around and sees an undead version of Conners…..yikes…oh if ur wondering what undead Conners looks like….he has pale skin….black eyeballs like a demon has….also black veins on his neck……again this is a kids show…..keep that in mind…..so anyways luke wakes up, because this was a dream….but when he wakes up he noticed he has strange marks on him….uh oh….so at school he tries convincing his friends….Hannah, Gabby, Jai…..they first don’t believe him that the Shadow-Man exists…..but later that day after school…..he tells them that he had a vision of Conners in the forest…..and that he then saw the Shadow-Man try to attack him in his own room….then Hannah finally admits she saw the Shadow-Man….she said that in her sleep last night she saw him hovering over her…she felt like she couldn’t move……(ladies and gentlemen,  that’s called sleep paralyzes)……its a true thing and it can be horrific….granted this time around in the show its not sleep paralyzes….its actually the demon creature….think about how scary that would be…..seeing a 6.9 foot tall ( that’s right the actor who plays the Shadow-Man is 6.9 feet tall) creature with a skeletal face….who appears only in the dark…Hannah says in her dream the Shadow-Mans hands came out of her bed and starting pulling her down into her bed while she’s laying on the bed….yikes, again this is a kids show…..so anyways Jai and Abby are skeptical…..Jai believes they made it out of the forest before night time…so they’re not cursed….oh boy, he has no idea how wrong he is…..so Jai heads home…..Abby goes home…..Luke heads to gym practice….which is at his school…..oh Hannah goes back home…..so anyways we do see that Jai makes a shocking discovery……he finds out that in October ( yes u heard that right….this season takes place in the fall….yet this season released in February….go figures)…so in October night time can happen when the sun doesn’t go down….so yeah turns out they didn’t get out in time….they stayed till night……uh oh….so now Jai tries calling up Luke….but he’s in practice, so he can’t hear the phone….he then calls up Hannah…telling her she was right…..then he calls Abby….who’s jogging down the street at night….uh oh, because she does end up seeing the Shadow-Man…..he starts telporting in front of her…each corner of the street she runs into…….yeah just imagine being chased by a scary tall entity at night…..yikes…..so anyways then Hannah gets attacked by the Shadow-Man…he enters her house…and I like this scene…..we see only his silhouette moving across a wall in the living room….he straight away heads to her brothers Seth room….oh right forget to mention she has a brother….he’s young…and like to be a magician…..and dresses like one…..so anyways right as before Hannah and her brother gets attacked by the Shadow-Man….her brother tosses an object at the light switch…..which turns the light on….then the Shadow-Man vanishes…..so after this he Teleports to Luke,  who is at the school still….we see the lights turn off because Shadow-Man is there….he makes himself visible to Luke….he tries attacking Luke….but his friends get there and save him…id ur wondering how some young teens got to there…well Abby stole her mothers car and they drove there….so anyways with now all of them together…including seth…..because he’s in trouble,  he saw the Shadow-Man….so anyways they recruit at a house..while waiting…jai pulls out a comic he has that somehow for sees the future…and been showing him what has and what will happen….yikes….so anyways…the Shadow-Man comes and punches his was through a door……he grabs Seth,  and starts dragging him through a dark hallway….the whole house is pitch black…..so anyways they try dragging him back to him while the Shadow-Man tries dragging him into the closet…..they free seth by aiming a flashlight at the Shadow-Man….he disappears….so now they find out he hates light……so they decide to go get some light sources like flash lights…..but of course the Shadow-Man can’t turn off flashlights and Christmas lights…..so he can turn off lights like in the grid and lamps….but cant turn off flash lights and some other plugged into light sources…….ok that just makes no sense….but whatever….I guess he can do whatever the script says for it to do…..do anyways they survive the night….because they used light to defeat him….no he aint dead…..he’s still alive….anyways he leaves them…..the episode ends with them losing into Conners computer….they find out Conner was gonna try to do a seance…..thats why he needed the spell book from Mr Sardo……so now our main characters are gonna do a seance…which will happen in the third and final episode……which i can’t wait for because I am loving these 2 episodes…..I hope the third episode doesn’t disappoint……..honestly I recommend this episode…..but also fair warning…..there’s content in this show that can scare kids….depending on who u ask…some may like horror…some may not…..im gonna give this episode a solid 

The Tale of the Phantom Light: so im gonna start off with saying I was wrong……..there’s not 3 episodes this season…..there’s 6….and where only on episode 3…..so we still have 3 weeks left…..oh and BTW this is the 100th episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark?….yes thats right 100th…..woo-hoo ……thats a record for them with this series…….the original series had 94 episodes…the 2019 version had 3 episodes…and now in the 2021 season 2, were on episode 3 out of 6….so yeah this be the 100th episode….so this is a landmark for this series…..enjoy this review….oh also ill say this….this episode is great….we finally get information on where the Shadow-Man came from and how he came to be….so stay tuned….

• so in this episode we see our group of 4 characters trying to do a seance….with home supplies…..um of course that doesn’t work…….so they head to bed and the next day at school they ask there teacher about a kid who dies names June Murphy……they find nothing out from her…but then they look up on the internet what happened….turns out June Murphy  died near the lighthouse in the forest…….so with this news of tid bit….they go and see Mr Sardos, they tell him there cursed and I just like his reaction….hear this…this entire conversation

Sardo: (ahem) magic.

Kids: abracadabra.

Sardo: i hate those kids.

Sardo: i see your still alive and well. To basically for me.

Kids: well? Were not well. Were cursed. The Shadow-Man is real, and he’s coming after us.

Sardo: all of you?…….(Exhales)…well, best of luck with your final days. Urns are on the back wall.

Kids: we need your help, Mr Sardo. 

Sardo: no, mister. And I can’t help you. As I said before,  no one knows how to break the curse.

Kids: we think we know someone who does. The only problem is, um……well, she’s dead.

Sardo: oh, too bad for her. And you. Now, off you go. 

Kids: our friend Connor. Remember him?

Sardo: the punk who broke into my shop? How could I forget?

Kids: well, we found this.  Its his list of stuff for a seance. We thinkhe was trying to contact the girl, who died 25 years ago, June Murphy. She could be the key to all of this.

Kids: we tried summoning her last night. But dream phone isn’t the best for summoning ghosts. So we want u to show us how to do a real seance. 

Sardo: i would, but I’m so busy today. 

Kids: this is serious.  The Shadow-Man almost took my brother, yeah. He’s cursed too. Now are u gonna be responsiblefor 5 Kids going missing becauseyou stood by and did nothing? Or are you gonna help?

Sardo: okay?…..$5000.

Kids: $5000?

Sardo: i said $4000. $4500?

Kids: we don’t have that kind of money..

Sardo: find then, a favor.

Kids: what kinda favor?

Sardo: i tag you how to hold a seance, and you bring back what ur friend took from me.

Kids: the book of shadows?

Sardo: mm-hmm.

Kids: how we are supposed to find it? No one knows where it is.

Sardo: the book is in the old cottage near the lighthouse.

Kids: how did u know that?

Sardo: because Connors told me…..when he left here. He muttered something about the cottage. Later that night he store the spell book, so I assume you can find it there. 

Kids: why did he need it?

Sardo: who knows.

Kids: there something your not telling us.

Sardo: will u bring it back or not?

kids: we can’t go back there, its in the haunted woods. That’s where this whole thing started..

Sardo: oh, please.  Not like u can get cursed twice……so. do we have a deal?

…..so they agree…..he ends up showing them how to do a seance…he first has them practice on a different ghost first….they ask if they can contact Conners sardo says sorry, if the Shadow-Man got him. He’s not a ghost. He’s just trapped in a terrifying void of darkness…I do like the kids reaction they say…..how comforting……..hahahahhaahh ……so he says u need to all hold each others hands…..anf have a leader speak out the questions to the ghost….and if u want to exit…u all have to say bye to the ghost…..oh and Mr Sardo hands them a ghost lantern……here’s how it works …if the light flickers….it means there’s and evil entity coming……and they should stop the seance if that happens….so then after this he tells them for this seance to work…they need to go where June died……now im not saying im an expert…..but I don’t think that’s how seances work…..u don’t need to be in a place where the person dies….I think….I may be wrong….ah well…so now they have to head to the lighthouse….so they do before its night time….they get to it and ill give the show credit…the lighthouse looks abandoned and a tad bit runned down….so anyways they go inside….and the inside is basically abandoned and a bit runned down..they see Joan’s jacket in the lighthouse…they also do see a ritual circle drawn on the ground…so right there they set up the seance right there…..so they all hold there hands….they ask the ghost of Joan to tell them what happened….instead the ghost shows them….so they get Teleported to the past….in the past they see that Joan’s father works at the lighthouse and runs the lighthouse…..and so does June……she cares about the lighthouse and so does her father……but one day the town or someone shuts down the lighthouse….it runs out of business…….so anyways now June is depressed…….she tries to start a petition…but not enough people signed it…..so then her father throws the lighthouse key off the cliff ..but it gets stuck on a branch……thats hanging on the side of the cliff……so anyways that night June heads to the lighthouse and tries to grab the key…but she ends up falling into the ocean, and dies……uh oh……oh dear lord……so now I know what ur thinking….where does the Shadow-Man come into all of this?…well let me get to that…well now her father is depressed because of her death….so he decides to…and I kid u not…open up the shadow book…which he knows is evil….he says I let u consume me and to place a curse thats not reversible……when that happens….a dark Shadow comes out of the book and consumes him and turns him into the Shadow-Man….thats right the dad is the Shadow-Man…..……ok im now interested…..so anyways think how creepy this scene is…..a shadow figure in a room thats dark and only has 1 light source…..a plugged in candle……so our main characters are like oh no can he see us?…and one of them says oh come on this is a back story…he can’t see us…then the Shadow-Man turns towards them and he says and once again….im wrong!!………..so now the Shadow-Man runs towards them..   they decide to exit the seance……they wake up…the Shadow-Man appears and starts attacking them…..well trying to grab them….so anyways our main characters get the dumbest decision…..to open the book…..and read out of it and hope it will kill the Shadow-Man…..……yes brilliant idea….because the book of which the Shadow-Man came out of…will totally kill him…..good job nimrods….ur so clever…….….so anyways they think it works…because Shadow-Man disappears….they also survive the night…wake up in the morning….ans there friend Conners appears …so yeah happy ending right?….wrong ……the episode ends with the ghost lamp flickering…..uh oh u know what that means….guess we’ll find out in next weeks episode…..so in the promo for next week…we see that prom night is coming…also they hand Sardo the book back….oh and Mr Sardo tells them u idiots u think a simple curse would stop the Shadow-Man?….a thing like that can’t be stopped like that!…even ur friends Conners can’t come back from where he went….(if ur wondering where Conners was sent?…well if the Shadow-Man catches u…u end up in a dark silent endless void)….uh oh..so does that mean Conners is the Shadow-Man in disguise?….who knows we’ll find out next week…..anyways stay tuned for the next 3 weeks of Are You Afraid of the Dark?…..so overall I really love this episode….its so far doing way better then the 2019 version….I hope they don’t ruin it….plz nickelodeon don’t ruin this….im gonna give this episode a solid 10/10

The Tale of the Danse Macbre: so now we’re officially 2 weeks left of the show before it ends….so far this show is really good…..the director knows what he’s doing….I think he’s been doing a good job….so yeah good job…..now without further or do, let’s get onto the review…..

• so in this episode we start off with seeing what happened to Conners….when he got grabbed by the Shadow-Man…he was tossed into the Shadow-Man basement in the cottage…..he’s tossed in there where kids are stuff in there…..so anyways we see our group of 5 kids are in the cottage….no sadly they don’t hear him scream for them…..but we do see what happens when they read our of the book of shadows….we see the Shadow-Man take form of Conners….and pretend to be conners…..to head with them…..uh oh…so no they did not stop the evil…..if ur wondering what happened…well ill explain in a bit…so throughout this episode Conners is acting off…he tries getting our characters in a dark room….so he can kidnap them……and for alot of the time he’s just starting with a blank express on his face…..uh oh….and no….our main characters are somehow not smart enough to notice something is off with Conners…..anyways…..one of them returns the book to Sardo….I do like this scene

Sardo: mm-hmm, mm-hmm

(phone ringing)

Sardo: hmm, (clears throat) thank you for calling Sardos Magic Mansion. This is Sardo, accent on the Do. How can I help u?…ah what!?…absolutely not. We don’t sell that here! This is a lawful Buisness.  And you– you got my name from whom!?….pink? Mm-hmm. And this is a secure line? Okay. Be at the shop in 20. Come around back, bring cash. Thank you. 

(Knocking on door)

Sardo: magic word?

Luke: let me in Sardo 

Sardo: (sighs) I hate that kid. (Door buzzes)…the young lady lives to see another day. I figured u be a goner by now. 

Luke: deal is a deal…were even. 

Sardo: u didn’t open it did you?

Luke: no

Sardo: oh. 

Luke: i know why Connor stole it

Sardo: why? Because he’s awful? 

Luke: no, because its what created the Shadow-Man in the first place. The lighthouse keeper cast a spell to save his daughter and it backfired. He became the Shadow-Man.

Sardo: how could you possibly know that?

Luke: let’s just say the seance worked

Sardo: it appears so. And what about the Shadow-Man? Did this ghost girl tell you how to get rid of him?

Luke: yeah she did. And we broke the curse last night.  

Sardo: how?

Luke: I’ll tell you. For $5000 

Sardo: (chuckles) very clever. Well in the end it seems we both got what we were looking for.  I suspect this means goodbye. $50 for a shrunken head? I’m losing on the deal. Come on. 

Luke: no thanks.

Sardo: fine, very well. It was nice to meet u Luke (puts hand out to do hand shake)

Luke: (grabs Sardos had to do hand shake)

Sardo: (grabs and yanks Luke closer), promise me. Promise u didn’t open the book of shadows…no good can come from that book. Only evil. 

Luke: promise

Sardo: (grunts) 

Luke: u got nothing to worry about 

Sardo: (grunts) (sighs) 

……so anyways now they think the curse is done….oh and a prom is coming up….so they get set up for that….we see our main characters do stuff at school….we see Hannah and Luke trying to have a connection between each other…..when I say that I mean there the Sterotypical awkward kids who are struggling to tell each they love each other…how romantic….yet revolting…..so anyways let’s focus on Hannah and Seth…she sends Seth to hangout with Mr Sardo….who is listening to classic music…..also Seth asks Sardo his opinion on a scary story he’s coming up with

Seth: I need help writing a scary story.  How’s this? A magician pulls a vampire rabbit out of a Top-Hat.

Sardo: thats the whole plot?

Seth: whats a plot?

..anyways Seth starts hearing the music Sardo is listening to, and of course  Seth says the music is boring because it has no words in it…….of course….a prime example of what’s wrong with our modern generation…..music clearly ain’t good to them if it doesn’t have words……give me a break…..so anyways Seth tells me Sardos they used the book to save Conners….which does anger Sardo a bit…..here’s how the conversation went

Seth: well Luke cast the spell. And then the Shadow-Man went away. And Conner came back, the end.

Sardo: thats impossible.  A spell cannot simply cast away the Shadow-Man.  Let alone undo what happened to Conner!.

Seth: i swear thats what happened.

Sardo: Seth, this is very very important. I need to know exactly what spell Luke used from this book. 

Seth: i don’t remember.  I think it rhymed, though. 

Sardo: they’re spells!. They all rhym!.

Seth: um…….something about hollowed light, I think.

Sardo: hallowed light. Hmm. (Grunting), was this the spell he used?

Seth: yeah, that’s the one.

Sardo: (puts book away) do u have any idea what you’ve done!?.

Seth: we made a light that protects us from the Shadow-Man. 

Sardo: no, no, no, no, no, no, no, you cast a spell that protects the Shadow-Man in the light.

….thats right our main characters have now made the Shadow-Man immune to light…well congrats main characters….ur all dumb….I don’t even wanna know how u thought reading from the book of shadows…where the Shadow-Man came out from…would kill it…..congrats….ur all Failures…..just thats so dumb….so now Mr Sardo and Seth go and save the kids…who are all at the dance…..oh BTW….Gabby isn’t at the dance…she’s trapped in a closet….the Shadow-Man locked her in it…he says shh don’t spoil the surprise…..im sorry here’s my opinion…..if hr gonna make ur horror movie villian talk…when he didn’t talk before….just dont….it takes the tension away in my opinion……do anyways he heads into the dance trying to grab hold of Jai…mwhile Luke and Hannah dance together on the dance floor…aww……anyways Mr Sardo and Seth come to the school and sneak into the school…..they have to find a way to get the main characters our of the building…so Mr Sardo and Seth go on stage pretending to be magicians……they get the 4 main characters up on stage…yes Abby gets out of the closet….and now Jai knows that’s not Conners….its the Shadow-Man…..so they get those 4 kids on stage and they make them vanish……but first a bit of scolding to happen to them

Luke: Sardo what are u doing?

Sardo: helping u……(laughs) yes come on, come on, the waters warm.  There’s no water.  There just chairs….and…..sit….young man. Give us your name.

Luke: uh. Luke.

Sardo: got it, “Uh-Luke”…okay Uh-luke, have you ever performed, magic?

Luke: ah no. I don’t think so.

Sardo: really?, so you’ve never done a trick, sprinkled fairy dust. …waved a magic wand, that kind of thing?

Luke: ah no.

Sardo: have u ever casted a dark spell? Hmm? Hmm?….mm. that’s great news. Casting spells is easy. Uncasting can be tricky. And sometimes it can even be a real curse. 

Sardo: there are many people out there claiming to be magicians. Do u know what, there importers. In disguise. Anywho, let’s begin. Seth if you’d please, the sheets. These are just your average normal, everyday sheets.

Seth: he’s not Connor. He’s Shadow-Man 

Sardo: I brought all these sheets from home. There all from my living closet.  My grandfather use to say never have to many sheets. And last but certainly least…my assistant….could have done that a little better. Tucked in nice and snug. Hello people.  Its important for u to understand. What ur about to see is not actually magic. What ur about to see is an illusion.  If u don’t know the difference.  An illusion means deception.  Now I must ask everyone to count to three…..one two three!….no one under here…no one under there!…no one under there…no one under there!…and no one under there! Ha Ha!…there u have it. The surprise disappearing act

..so now the Shadow-Man is on to them and comes up to Sardos and grabs him..

Shadow-Man: where are they?

Sardo: hello Shadow-Man. 

…the kids end up in the school hallway…they catch Luke up with whats going on….they run into a school room and start climbing out the window…..but Jai stays behind….because he has this comic in his hand…which is of the Shadow-Man attacking them…and it shows the future…and what he sees is that he is sitting in that class room and let’s the Shadow-Man take him….its one of those scenarios where if u look at a thing that foretells ur future that’s not happen yet….then its a fixed point and can’t be changed…..so anyways he stays behind…and let’s the Shadow-Man take him….before he does…he says ” u don’t look that scary”…..um u sure dude he doesn’t look scary?….and he grabs Jai….and Jai vanishes….thats how the episode ends…on a cliffhanger…and in next weeks promo we see the kids and Mr Sardo preparing for a finale confrontation against the Shadow-Man…but don’t be fooled…next week is not the series finale….well have 1 weeks left after next weeks episode….honestly I’m still really liking this season…..the director knows what he’s doing….I feel tension…..which in my opinion alot  of modern horror films lack in….honestly I’m gonna give this episode a solid 10/10

The Tale of the Midnight Magic: omg…ladies and gentlemen…..this episode is tense….it took risks….and by the end of this episode u feel like everything is at risk here……so with that out of the way let’s get onto the plot of this film 

• so in the beginning of this episode we see our main characters running away from the Shadow-Man….and one by one they get captured by the Shadow-Man…first Seth gets consumed…..then Hannah….and then lastly Abby…..right as Luke is about to be consumed……we see this was all a dream….….so what we just saw for the first 2 and a half minutes….was a dream….oh joy…..so anyways they wake up and we see there inside Sardos Magic Mansion…..thats right…Sardo let them sleep over at his store….and I really love what he says

Luke: whats that sound?

Sardo: that is morning. You made it through another night. Teas ready. I have no food. 

Seth: then how does he eat?. What does he eat?. Does he live here?

Heheheheh ….so anyways we now do see magic is real in this shows universe…because there sitting down at a table and he’s pouring blue tea out of the tea cup….but then Luke says no tea plz…water plz…and all a sudden, cold water starts pouring out of the tea cup…..yeah thats right….he used magic to change the liquid….ok that’s clever…..ill give them that…..so anyways I love this whole scene let me play it out…..

Luke: how did this happen?

Sardi: you used the book of shadows. 

Luke: yeah, to break the curse, to bring Connor back. 

Sardo: regardless of your good intentions. You played with dark magic, and when you use dark magic. You bring more evil into the world. 

Hannah: so now the Shadow-Man can look like Connor. Thats what your saying?. 

Sardo: allow me to put it to you like this.thanjs to your little spell. The Shadow-Man can now walk around looking like a Backstreet boy, specifically Nick Carter. Maybe a little bit, Brian, but definitely not Kevin.  It’s like his human armor. Protecting him when the sun is up. 

Hannah: and when the sun is down?

Sardo: he’ll turn back into the monster. But this time even more powerful.

Abby: why more powerful? 

Sardo: children are afraid of the dark. Its what he feeds on. The more kids he takes,  the stronger he becomes. And he’s gain not 1, but 2 of ur friends. 

Luke: i should have saved him. 

Hannah: don’t say that. Jai wanted to save us. He stayed behind so we could get away. He was a hero. 

Seth: he was our shield. 

Abby: there’s still four of us left. If we break the curse, we can bring them back. Jai and Connor. We have a chance right?

Sardo: logically speaking. That’s a hard no, but logic does not produce magic, so I suppose sure. 

Luke: help us break it. 

Sardo: oh no no, no, that i can’t do. 

Luke: why not? 

Sardo: for one,  I don’t know how, and for two I don’t want to keep looking over my shoulder every time I see a shadow. 

Abby: but your not cursed, he won’t come after you. 

Sardo: that was before u turned him into a human, he’ll hurt me and anyone who stands in his way. I may not be cursed, but I’m also not stupid. 

Hannah: please, your the only one who can help us stop him. 

Sardo: tell you what, you may all help yourself to one free item as you walk out, up to $10 value. 

Seth: $15

Sardo: sold, its fine

Luke: you know, for someone who owns a magic shop. You really seem to hate kids. 

Sardo: I’ve been telling children to stay out of those haunted woods for years. They go in, they come back out. And they get taken away. You think I hate kids. Try watching them disappear. 

(Everyone gets up)

Sardo: what are you doing?

Luke: seeing if anything in here is real, something magical that we can use to break the curse. 

Sardo: you think you can find something like that in here?

Luke: this is a magic shop yes?

So they try finding stuff in the show that can help them….until Hannah comes up with the idea to gather tons of light…..and have them reflect off of mirrors….to harm the Shadow-Man….see apparently when he’s in Connor form he can’t be harmed by light…but when he’s in Shadow-Man form he can be harmed by light…..I think….thats at least what I understood……so Sardo lets them take anything in his shop that can and will create light….also Sardo hands Luke a talisman to him…he says it will help….so with that out of the way they head out…but they bump into the parents…..uh oh…if ur wondering why they are there….well its because Shadow-Man Connor told the parents that the been sneaking out and stole Abby mothers car……uh oh…playing with fire…thats clever….so Luke gets grounded…..Abby gets yelled at about not caring about her future……Hannah and Seth have to clean the house and are under house arrest…..but that mid-day Abby steals her moms car….and recruits her friends….they have to sneak Luke out of his room….oh BTW Hannah and her brother escape there room……so anyways they head to where they do there Midnight Society thing….which is an abandoned warehouse looking building near the docks……..there they set up their trap to capture the Shadow-Man….by um placing mirrors and spot lights almost everywhere…and a trip wire to release a net onto the creature…….anyways back at Sardos Magic Mansion…..the Shadow-Man in Connor form pays Sardo a visit……uh oh….he knows Sardo is helping the kids out…..also he almost kills Sardo with one of the swords on display….but he doesn’t…instead wanting him to tell him about the trap they have set up…..so he grabs Sardo and starts sacking the life out of him….Sardo pleads and he does tell Shadow-Man about the trap……uh oh…..anyways back to our main characters….they do an Initiation….to let Seth become part of the Midnight Society……the way he gets accepted is he has to tell them something that would scare them…..which he does….he points out Abby is afraid to lose….I think thats what he said…and that Hannah and Luke…both love each other and are both afraid to admit it …let alone to each other……well i mean u guys did ask him to point out something that scares u……so now he gets accepted into the group….but then Shadow-Man Connor comes in….our main characters hide behind shelves and stuff…….I do like what evil connors says

Connor: i appreciate u all throwing me a party, but I don’t have anything for you.  Oh wait, no, no, no, that’s not true. I do have something for you. Ladies and gentlemen please put ur hands together for a very special guest this evening. The legendary Sardo….

So then Sardo enters the room, Connor tries to get the kids to come out by um chocking Sardo….Luke comes out and tries to offer his life in exchange for his friends…but the Shadow-Man man says ….no need…by the end of all of this I will get all of u…thats the price for entering the forest at night….so then Connors starts walking closer to Luke…he asks Luke to drop the flashlight. 

..he does…right on the trip wire…which releases a net onto Shadow-Man Connors….they turn on the stage lights and reflect them from the mirror’s onto the Shadow-Man…..its starts hurting and harming him…he turns into his beast form….then he turns off all lights….uh oh…he gets out of the net…and grabs Sardo…and now for the moment that I’m still not over from…..Shadow-Man sucks the life out of Sardo……..his last words to the kids are

Sardo: say goodbye kids. Always say goodbye. (Winks)

Then he falls over and dies…..….yeah great there goes my favorite character in this season….I didn’t expect him to be killed off….and no Shadow-Man didn’t consume him and send him to the dark void…..he literally killed Sardo….in a way I was expecting he would die since he’s the only one helping them…..but also I was hoping I was wrong…..so anyways now Seth tries to get Shadow-Man to send Sardo into the dark…..he refuses to….and right before he attacks Seth……Seth harms Shadow-Man with some light…..from a flashlight reflecting off of 2 glass cubes….now we get to a tense horror moment…where our characters are hiding behind objects and having to stay somewhat quite…while Shadow-Man…this 6.9 foot tall entity keep in mind….lurking around growling….looking for the kids in this dark room….also Luke dropped the talisman……because of course he does…..so Hannah starts creating some nose to destruct the Shadow-Man so Luke can get to it…..no Shadow-Man doesn’t see them because they crawl away….anyways time to summarize this scene up…after a bit of crawling and hiding from creepy Shadow-Man….they make a run towards behind big crates….unfortunately Hannah doesn’t make it…she gets grabbed by the Shadow-Man and he consumes her……awww and I was so excited for Luke and Hannah’s relationship to bloom…blahh…but all serious though….I didn’t see this coming….another of the main child character….not dead but um dead in a sense of way of she’ll never be seen again if the curse isn’t lifted….so while there hiding…Abby sees the talisman…..she goes and grabs it and tosses it to Luke, he grabs it….and the Shadow-Man consumes Abby…..dang…….now with Seth and Luke left…Seth tells Luke he’s in charge and he needs to break this curse…with that said…..Seth distracts the Shadow-Man so Luke can run away…and Seth gets consumed by Shadow-Man…..(just for clarification….he’s not eating them…he absorbs them into his body….yikes)…anyways Luke runs Connors home…Shadow-Man Connors follows Luke to there…..he hides…and Shadow-Man does a game of hide and seek…..he tries searching for Luke….so right as Connors is about to search the last door thats at the end of the hall…….Luke appears behind Shadow-Man and uses a flashlight to reflect from his talisman to the Shadow-Man….which starts hurting the Shadow-Man….he then backs himself into the closet…..Luke moves up close to it…the door flings open….and Shadow-Man comes out of it……Luke falls onto the ground and starts crawling away…..he grabs any light source out of the backpack Seth handed him…..but Shadow-Man keeps turning them off…until Luke pulls out a box of special lighters that Seth saw earlier at Sardo shop on the shelves….now bare with me with this next scene…because even I don’t know what happened……he lights it up and a shield spawns around him…we see the talisman shining….the Shadow-Man tries breaking through it but cant……yeah I don’t know what happened…did the talisman create a shield around him or did the light?……ah well…so Shadow-Man backs away and Leaves…Luke sits there for a while…then the door open and we see its Connors dad….thats right…where was he this whole time…well on Buisness trip….he calls up lukes dad…tells him that luke is there with no friends…and he can’t get ahold of Connors phone…..he tells lukes dad he will keep and eye on Luke till he gets there to pick him up….then Luke runs away….all the way towards Sardos Magic Mansion…inside he breaks into tears and has flash backs to specifically these lines

Connors: whats the matter are u afraid of the dark?

Jai: face ur fears fight for what u want and u get them, and I think that’s really cool.

Seth: ur the leader of the midnight society, Luke. Its up to u to break the curse.

Abby: if we break the curse, we can bring them back.

Hannah: bring us back! (Screaming)

Sardo: the only way to break a curse is to  stop the thing that started it.

Luke: it says here the lighthouse shut down in 1996. That’s the same year June Murphy died.

Seth: so connor was trying to talk to a ghost? 

Sardo: ghosts has unfinished Buisness.  Something they never got to do or something they never got to say. 

Abby: and when finished,  thank the spirit for joining you. Remember to…..always say goodbye 

Sardo: say goodbye kids. Always say goodbye (wink)

Luke: June Murphy,  she could be the key to all of this.

Hannah: what If June wasn’t the victim of the curse after all? What if she what started it?

Sardo: id June has any unfinished Buisness..she will tell u

June Murphy: this town needs a lighthouse, dad.

June Murphy dad: the light protected us, guided us. Without it, were all just lost in the dark. 

Sardo: children are afraid of the dark. Its what he feeds on

Luke: the lighthouse keeper cast a spell to try to save his daughter and it backfires.  He became the Shadow-Man….

So with that Luke somehow knows to grab the seance board and sit down in the backroom to contact Sardos ghost…no I have no idea what he’s planning….well have to wait till next week….but the episode ends with him trying to contact Sardo…it doesn’t work at first…but he sees the planchette….move a bit…and thats how the episode ends…next week is the season finale……I honestly cannot wait….next week we get to see how this all ends….Luke is left to defeat the Shadow-Man and save his friends…but seriously though I still miss Sardo….I liked his character over this kids….I am really loving this season….its eerie and creepy….im gonna give this episode a solid 10/10

The Tale of the DarkHouse: ok i gonna start off with saying,  wow….just wow…this episode is amazing…..I did not expect it to be so well done….this whole season has been a massive improvement and a nostalgic trip in my opinion…..also for u of those who are hard times fans of the original…..then u will be happy to know there’s a surprise cameo in this episode…I won’t spoil who it is yet….

• so we start off with us seeing Conners going into the forest,  him getting cursed….and while that he’s narrating how this all happened and what he found out….he says he stole the book of shadows,  so he can use to end the curse….he also said he did a seance….trying to contact June Murphy…..he saw that she died, her father tried bringing her back using the book…but the spell backfired and turned him into the Shadow-Man………then we see Connors is talking to Hannah and Seth and Abby and Jai…who are all inside the lighthouse…in the dark……Connors points out when he tried calling for Luke’s name….that Luke did hear him….so now its up to Luke….if he can hear them then he can save them….so then we of course have the opening credits…….after that we see Luke at Sardos Magic Mansion…trying to contact Sardo spirit……..he does make contact with Sardo…..Sardo shows him the vision of when Luke brought back the book to Sardo….because he wants to show Luke where he hid the book…..which he does…..he has it hidden underneath a glass container in the front of the store….then he shows Luke another vision….of Sardo showing them that Connors stolen his book…and showing them which key Connors used to pen up his shop…..the skeleton key….then for the third vision….he shows Luke, when he was a kid….and ladies and gentlemen we now get to see the surprise cameo……they brought back the original actor who played Sardo…and put him in this episode as a cameo…..woo-hoo….hurray…..so yes we basically have confirmation that Sardo in this season is the son of Sardo from the original series……yayyyyyy..

Sardo: thats Sar-do, no mister. Accent on the Do. 

…so anyways June Murphy father comes into the shop and order Sardo to give him the book of shadows…so he can use to bring back his daughter……(yeah I know it’s a dumb decision)…..Sardo refuses to give it to him…..then he leaves……when he leaves Sardo goes up to his son who is trying to unlock a lock…he says to him ur trying to hard….see all u need to do is push the key against the hidden key hole, then the real key hole will be revealed……….I think this shows Luke how to unlock hidden stuff…..so then he shows him one last vision…where Sardo has to show Shadow-Man where the kids are placing a trap for Shadow-Man…..before they leave he answers a phone call and randomly says ….yes yes…u wanna return…return,  return, return,  return……..get it he’s wanting Luke to understand 1. Where he hid the book…2. That the skeleton key can unlock anything apparently….and 3. Ghost have unfinished Buisness…thats the key to stopping all this…..so Luke gets out of the seance….he grabs the key and the book…then he heads to the lighthouse…..he goes inside….all a sudden Abby sees a light…..Luke comes down to the lower part of the lighthouse because he hears his friends screaming his name….but he can’t see them…….now this entire next scene is confusing, so I’ll try to explain it…..they can only see the lights that luke is beaming off the flashlight…because um get this….there in a parallel universe….a dark Shadow universe…..so they can see shadows that luke or anyone makes in the normal parallel…..heck the small girl that’s with them said she small a light appear and disappear the day of before Connors appeared in the dark Shadow parallel world…..so Hannah and Abby come up with the idea of luke shine light on the door…they see roman numerals on the door…it translates to shadow is the answer…..they ask him if he has a key….he does…..they ask him to cast a shadow of it…he does…and somehow Hannah grabs it from him….don’t ask how that’s possible….I can’t explain it…..so anyways they open the door…..Luke also opens the door and runs outside…his friends come outside of the lighthouse…they all reunite…..now I know what ur thinking…..Jarrod….is the curse gone?…answer is no…..so Connors tries to go back inside to retrieve the kids that where in there with them…turns out they can’t leave because they been in the dark to long, if they step outside they will vanish…..so thats what happens….…..so now with Luke and his friends together again….Luke tells them his idea of how to destroy the curse….at first Connors says no….he tried to have them all leave…..he says im in charge of the midnight society….and I say we need to leave…

Luke says maybe u shouldn’t be…..uh oh…then he gives a speech…..basically he wants no kids to suffer there end at the hands of the Shadow-Man…..so after Luke’s speech they team up…they read from the bok…they Teleport to the past ( see there plan is to prevent June Murphy from dying…..turn on the lighthouse….to kill Shadow-Man…because he did follow them…..see basically if they save June Murphy…then there be no need for her father to get access to the book and unleash the evil)…..so anyways Shadow-Man shows up……Abby and Jai go and save June Murphy from falling off the cliff…..Seth and Hannah go into the lighthouse to turn on the light…..Luke and Connor lure the Shadow-Man into the lighthouse…..so they both run to the lighthouse and close the door and run up stairs…..Jai and Abby go save June Murphy……Jai climbs down and grabs the key……tosses it to Abby, tells her to go run give it to the Hannah….while June is left to help him up…..oh and Seth is trying to turn the power back on by turning switches in the power grid box…..oh joy….because thats what u totally do…send a small kid to turn on switches on a grid that is taller then him….……so anyways Conners and Luke start climbing up the ladder to the area of the lighthouse that has the light……Luke drops his flashlight on purpose…asks Connors to pick it up…and Luke just climbs up and locks himself up there….to um sacrifice himself…..and uh oh the Shadow-Man appears…..they start walking around the light pole…or whatever its called…..don’t know why Shadow-Man doesn’t just Teleport to him….but still…..Connors aims his flashlight to Shadow-Man to harm him…but he keeps turning off the light……so Connors tries breaking through the trap door and he does….he comes up behind Shadow-Man while he’s sucking the life out of Luke…..and well Conners hits Shadow-Man in the head which knocks off one of his tree branch horns…..wait a min I thought hes a ghost like being that can’t be physically touched?….ah well maybe I’m wrong about that…anyways Shadow-Man starts grabbing Connors and sucking the life out of him….Abby brings the keys to Hannah….Seth turns on the switches…..they twist the key into the key hold on the panels…..the light turns on….Luke grabs the light and pushes it backwards onto Shadow-Man…which um kills him this time……yeah see i don’t know how this kills him…I guess because its strong beam of light? …anyways do they saved June Murphy,  they killed the Shadow-Man….and before they leave they decide to sign her petition….luckily it only needed 6 more people to sign it…and also luckily there’s 6 main characters….how convenient….so anyways they travel back to there normal time…when they get back….they see people in the forest …walking there dogs, going camping…walking in the forest…..thats right they broke the curse…the woods no longer are cursed….they did it…..yayyyyyy….also June Murphy is still alive…she’s now the major of the city…….if u couldn’t tell, they rewrote the past…..which depending on who u ask, some may say people in shows or films shouldn’t mess with the past….its the butterfly effect…..if u dont know what that is…well to summarize that up…the butterfly effect is when someone travels to the past and let’s say accidentally steps on a plant or kills a bug…that small change will effect their present day drastically….but im getting way off the point….back to the story….they decide to go visit Sardo….yes he now alive….shocker…but this Sardo doesn’t recognize them because he never met them….I do however like his line….they ask him if they recognize them at all…and he says

Sardo: of course i recognize u. U kids are all the same, coming in here vandalizing and looking around without buying anything…may I recommend going to a park, or playground….

God bless u Sardo,  ur one of the best things to come out of this show….anyways z they give him a hug…which he is weirded out, because he doesn’t know who they are….so anyways they leave……next day we see Abby and her mother in the car…she’s letting Abby drive to school…finally she’s learning how to drive…she wanted that badly……we also see at school Jai is helping Hannah hand out fliers to save the Environment…..and thats going pretty good….somehow…..Luke comes into school then and comes up to Hannah…and says she’s looks cute…finally…thats a step up over him saying in episode 4…..u look yeah……seriously dude….look yeah?….…..oh and we see Jai talking to a girl who’s also a nerd…there talking about film adaptation of their favorite comic book…the Ghastly Grinner (if any of u who’s reading this are hard-core fans of the original series…then u will recognize who the Ghastly Grinner was)….I do like this awkward conversation 

Jai: u wanna be my date tonight?

Girl: can we talk more about comic books?

Jai: marry me 

 hahahaha……so anyways we see the night of the dance….and there all dancing and having fun….which is really nice to see…..we see Luke and Hannah dancing…anyways then we cut to Seth who’s in his room, he’s finishing up his scary story…called the tale of the Shadow-Man….huh…kinds clever to write about ur encounter with something scary…but I also think that shouldn’t count…..to be used as a scary story….anyways he meets up with our main characters who are heading to the forest….because its night….they notice the light house is on…Hannah and Luke get excited…and finally kiss each other….woo-hoo …finally….so anyways the episode ends with them in the forest…around a campfire (finally something from the original series)….and they hand around a bag filled with dust (again finally something else from the original series…also finally they brought back the bag of dust from the original series)…..(see for u of those who don’t know…every time someone in the group tells a story…they must say Submitted for approval of the Midnight Society….I call this story (while tossing a handful of dust into the fire)……and BTW thats how the episode ends..they hand the bag over to luke…and he says Submitted for approval of the Midnight Society,  I call this story…he then tosses some dust into the fire…and thats it…thats how it ends…..good god I love this season…..it was perfect…..it started good and it only got better….I genuinely felt tension and some fear watching this season……im glad they got a different director this time….im gonna give this episode a solid 10/10
