Are You Afraid of the Dark? 2019 limited series

I want to start off with showing the trailer to this season…..so here u guys and ladies go….also warning ,  massive spoilers ahead….u been warned…..

Part One: Submitted for Approval: so we start off with seeing this girl named Rachel….she’s in a pitch black building, trying to hide from someone or something….she seems scared…..anyways she bumps into this carnival like stage ans starts hearing carnival music…then a guy named Mr Top-Hat pops up in front of her saying hello Rachel…which then she turns our around in fright…and somehow Mr Top-Hat appeared right in front of her…keep in mind she just turned away from the stage….and yes this is all a nightmare…because then she wakes up….in the middle of the night….or was it a dream…because we see Mr Top-Hat standing outside her window on the road…and walking away with 2 kids….then the opening credits role in….let me know what u guys think of this version

So skipping alot….because I want to…we see our group of main kids…one of them named Graham (played by Jeremy Ray Taylor) he’s a nerd on horror related stuff….we also see our other 3 other main characters…..they are apart of a group called the Midnight Society….they invite Rachel in the group….but first she needs to prove her self worthy….so they have her come to the forest at midnight and tell them a scary story,  to see if she’s worthy….and u know the drill…she has to say submitted for approval of the midnight society….so anyways she tells her story about the Carnival of Doom and the tales of Mr Top-Hat…..so anyways we see in her story….a young girl and her parents go to this Carnival…..so anyways the girl in this story sees something scary….the clown at the booth giving tickets…..now yes clowns are scary…but this clown pulls up his glasses and reveals he has no eyes……yikes….anyways they get to the bug tent…and the guy who comes on stage is Mr Top-Hat…..played by (Rafael Casal)…..he introduces himself…..all of that…..tells everyone they will be entertained…this is a place of scary things…..anyways after this the young girl tries going to the bathroom on her own…and finds Mr Top-Hat outside in the back….eating a scorpion…then hundreds of hundreds of scorpions come crawling put of his sleeves…..yeah so if any of u have a scorpion fear, then u will find this scary…..anyways the story ends with next day carnival vanishes…all towns folks memories of the carnival disappeared….and 2 girls go missing…..uh oh…..so then after Rachel tells her story….they leave the forest….and the next day…at school there friend named Gavin…..disappeared…..oh and he is the love interest for Rachel…..also he’s apart of the Midnight Society…so he’s now missing….uh oh…then at school there teach hands them out flyers to a carnival called the carnival of Doom….…..uh oh….then the episode ends with Rachel looking at the window as sees a scorpion on it…..oh so her story is real….oh shite…..so yeah thats the episode…im gonna be honest I really like this episode its eerie and it was great for a comeback for this series….hers a link to the full first episode…..nickelodeon only posted the first episode on YouTube…..if u end up liking that episode then good luck finding the last 2 episodes…there on ITunes and Amazon…but they costs money to watch…so yeah…

Anyways I’m gonna give this episode a solid 9.6/10

Part Two: Opening Night: so we see our main characters a bit scared because that Rachel’s story came true and now there friend has disappeared…..so they blame her for this…..I mean….sure, why not…..anyways….so in this episode they head to the carnival that has come into town…when they get there……right off the bat, they realize the carnival is exactly the same as in Rachel’s story……the notice the same clown at the booth…..so then they head to the tent….and Mr Top-Hat appears on stage….along side with bis right hand man ….strange though because his right hand man is missing his right arm….ah well….his name is Bartholomew…

What a bizzare name in my opinion….they now know her story has come to life….anyways so with that they head out but while they do…they get chased Down by clowns….scary looking clowns…heck one of the clowns is holding a chainsaw…….yikes…..honestly that would be scary….so then they hide in a tunnel of love ride…..there in the foggy water, zombies come out of the water….they try attacking our main characters….they soon find out that these zombies are robotic…they have buttons on them to turn them off……booo lame….thats the cheapest cop out I’ve ever seen….if ur gonna go horror…then u better go for full horror……so then they now decide to leave…..anyways so next day she brings up the carnival of Doom up to her friends….they say whats that…..uh oh…turns out now there memories are wiped…..they have no memories of that night…and with that the carnival has left town….uh so with her friends memories gone…and the carnival gone…how they gonna stop Mr Top-Hat…well all will be answered in part 3……anyways I did enjoy this episode….once again its eerie…..and has a good perfect balance of horror and well of course comedy…..im gonna give this episode a solid  9/10

Part Three: Destroy all Top-Hats: so now we finally made it to the season finale of this 3 part miniseries….hope u guys have been enjoying this specific reviews so far……so with that out of the way, let’s get onto to the review….so we start off with Rachel trying to get her friends up to date whats happened so far….because she will need them to help her go up against Mr Top-Hat and to retrieve there missing friend….so once she gets her friends minds up to date….they now try to form a plan….if I remember they find out the carnival is in Idaho….so they need to bring along one of there friends older brother who is a cop….because they need a drive…understandable….so they head on the road to Idaho….on the drive there they stop at a bathroom…which well the cop brother enters the bathroom…inside there is a flickering light…because u know….horror….anyways then all a sudden….thousands of scorpions come crawling out of each toilet and out of the holes in the wall….including the ceiling…..jeez…..so anyways they go check on him….he’s not there,  he’s vanished….uh oh….so now Graham decides to drive the car…um….under age driving Is bad….so anyways they get to the carnival….unfortunately they bump into Bartholomew….but it turns out he’s on there side….he wants there help to defeat Mr Top-Hat……apparently something having to do with they use to be close friends, but now he’s mad….(like crazy…not mad as in angry)…..ok to be more specific….turns out Mr Top-Hat was back in the past like a few decades….he opened up a carnival because he wanted to….but he forget to check the safety on the rides…so one day a group of kids and there family go on the Farris wheel….unfortunately it breaks off and crashes….killing everyone on that ride…so now with Mr Top-Hat depressed and drinking away his sorrows….he one day while in a bar, gets visited by a mysterious man…he tells Mr Top-Hat he can make his carnival popular,  and give him immortality….but in exchange one kid that visits the carnival, will disappear….and no one will be able to remember him or the carnival,  because there memories will be wiped….(and this is where I stopped caring about this show…because it became abundantly clear they are doing the deal with the devil rout….safe to say I was disappointed….thought Mr Top-Hat was some demon of something…but nope…turns out he’s justa human who did a deal with the devil….…do u see that expression?…thats how much I so care about this)…so anyways Bartholomew helps them come up with a plan….he tells them the source of Mr Top-Hat powers come from his hat….so Rachel tried going into Mr Top-Hat trailer…to retrieve his hat….turns out its there….she grabs it but of course falls into a trap…she ends up on stage with Mr Top-Hat…and her friends are there frozen in a trance like state….turns out Bartholomew isn’t helping them…he lead them into a trap….shocker …..so anyways exposition happens…what we find out is Rachel is the girl in the story she told….what a twist? …..apparently she’s the only one so far who has remembered Mr Top-Hat….oh and Mr Top-Hat powers come from his scorpion staff he holds around….now I know what ur thinking why would he be holding around the object that holds his immortality and his powers…when he could accidentally slip and drop the staff and it could break….well the answer is…idk…its kinda dumb…so anyways Rachel grabs the staff from Mr Top-Hat and frees her friends….they run…Mr Top-Hat catches up….he ants his staff back…but Rachel breaks it…which then Mr Top-Hat rapidity turns old then turns to ash…..jeez….anyways happy ending…..her friends been saved, and Mr Top-Hat is no more….also of course the episode ends with them in the forest at night…and Gavin and the others make Rachel official apart of the Midnight Society….then of course Gavin is about to tell a scary story….and this is a nice callback…..his story is called the return of the Ghastly Grinner…..again if any of u grew up watching the original series….u will recognize this……so anyways I was disappointed in this episode…it had cringy dialog….the reveal of Mr Top-Hat was a letdown….so basically as a overall story it kinda fails…once u look at all 3 of these episodes….so im giving this episode a solid 4.8/10
