I should start off with a warning 

 for this book series….throughout these 3 books there’s like 3 stories that deal with cannibalism and about 3 or 4 that deal with real scenario situation  where people escape near death experiences, oh and there is other stores that deal with death and well ghosts and vampires….u have been warned.

BTW these 3 books are essentially short stories of folklore and urban legends that Alvin Schwartz found and cumulated together to form this book Trilogy.

BOOK 1 – Scary Stories to tell in the dark: ok were to start let’s see the stories don’t link together ….there individual stories and the reason why this book series is so popular is because of the art design on each page….let’s just say it would give kids or anyone who is screamish…well knightmares and or the heebie jeebies…..there a couple of popular stories in this book…..the big toe….Mi tie Doughty walker, the thing, the haunted house,  and….mi tie doughty walker is about a severed head that comes dropping out of a chimney each night in a haunted house….and the head well says the words over again….mi tie doughty walker…its a eerie story…that has a dog that sings….yes out of this series the only one thats cartoony is this one because it has a singing dog….the haunted house story well horrified people…the story is that a robber enters a house to find buried treasure that’s located in the house….and a ghost visits him and tells him if he finds her corpse and  bring to light how she really died…and if he does that she’ll lead him to the treasure…the reason this chapter scared people is because the first page in this story has no picture but when u turn the page u see this image of a grotesque ghost that has strands of hair and have missing teeth and have empty sockets where her eyes were….and the noise is a bit deformed…see this is why that story scared many people….oh the thing story is about…2 men are on a baseball field at night and they see in the distance a skeleton looking type figure wearing a suite….and well one of them gets touched by the thing and they made it home and the corpse ran back into the forest….a few weeks later the guys friend falls ill and is near death door and before he died he looked like the thing they say that night…weeks ago….um….wait what was this book considered as?…a kids book!?…ok sure whatever u say book author….and on a side note there’s a story that involves  a butcher kidnapping children and cooking them and selling it as meat…..again this is a kids book!….sure I just so believe a kids book that has cannibalism and involves death and have scary images can totally 

 be considered a kids book..also the big toe story is about this kid who finds a human toe sticking out of the ground outside and he brings it back to his parents and they cut it up and put it…in their stew….

…and the corpse comes out the grave in the middle of the night to finds his toe…hm lovely…again kids book!….I just don’t know this book anymore….no way this could be considered a kids book……ok but jokes aside this book is nightmare inducing…perfect book to read during October…I give this book a solid 9/10

BOOK 2 More scary stories to tell in the dark: so this book is the same as the first…this time with new stories….such as one Sunday morning,  and oh Suzanna, and the bride, and the window, and something was wrong…..one Sunday morning is about a woman hears a church bell go off and she thought she slept in to late but guess what it still was dark out and no cars were out and about…she made it to the church and the church was filled with the undead…including her dead friend…..lovely…her dead friends warns her to leave…and as she does the dead start coming towards her and tear her jacket off and tell her not to come back…when she made it home she thought it wasn’t a real and she was dreaming…later that day s friend of her came by to drop off her coat…it was found in the semetary  torn to shreds….

 dunnnnnnn!!!!….what a twist…

…..oh Suzanna is about  2 girls are sleeping over and its night time…and there asleep and she hears the song oh Suzanna start playing from her friends mouth..or she thought she was signing it….she tried to tell her friend to shut up…but she just kept singing…to the point her friend got out of bed and tore the blankets off her friend bed…and she screamed because she found her friend on the bed with no head….u can say her friend got “a head ” of her self…

…..ok um done with the jokes im nor good at them….then well the something was wrong story was about this guy named John Sullivan woke up downtown at night and was lost and had no idea how he got there and had no watch on…he tried calling s taxi but the taxi driver took one look at him and screamed and drove off….and he was like huh…and everyone else who saw him started screaming and backing up….he then thought something wrong….he tried calling his wife…and instead someone he doesn’t recognize  answered the phone…and he asked is Ms Sullivan there…and the person said no m, Ms Sullivan is at a funeral…u see Mr Sullivan died in a car accident downtown….

…dunnnnnnnnn!….sorry I’m just adding that special effects noise to the end of these stories to add less tension to the story….and well the window is about well this girl keeps getting visited by a vampire at night and he is pale and has a sunken in face…and well one night he got into her room and grabbed her neck and started sucking blood from her neck ..and her brothers and father herd her scream and her brother got the shotgun and ran into a her room and as the vampire ran out the window they ran out as well and shot him….later the next day …they go to the graveyard and go inside the  Burial vault, and inside was a horrific image…bones and blood scattered around the floor…and only one coffin not touched…they open it and find the vampire in side it….so they build a pile of wood and put the vampire on it and lit it on fire and the vampire went up in flames… yes happy fun times…try sleeping tonight…and the bride is about a bride and man marry each other and that day the town and them do a game of hide and seek and she decides to hide in the attic in a  Cubbert….the latch hit her in the head and she fell  Unconscious…nobody hear her screams….the town searched for her till her husband gave up on her…many years later a made went up there to open the Culbert to get supplies and she screamed because she saw the rotting corpse of the bride…but by now she is nothing but bones….yeah sure I’m so sure this book is a kids book….NOOOOT!…I really liked this book i give it a solid 8/10

BOOK 3 – Scary Stories to tell in the dark 3 more tales to chill ur bones: so this story does by far have a few more iconic stories…such as….Harold,  the dream….and then some others like, its him, …. so Harold is about these 2 farmers make a scarecrow that looks like there farmer neighbor they have who they hate….named Harold….this scarecrow looks scary….he is a bit chubby and has his belly exposed and he wears a plaid shirt and he has a frown on his face and his eyes a empty void and are in a angry type look position…and he has stitches over his face and has straws sticking out of his sleeves and he has long strands of brown hair….so anyways they make him and when they get mad and want to beat him up….they do that and toss food on him…one day he groaned…and they shrugged it off thinking its a rat living inside the scarecrow….one day 5hey sat down at dinner with the scarecrow and the scarecrow stands up and walks away….leaving both farmers in shock…oh u think that’s the ending…nope….so the next day they are heading  downtown to sell a cow and milk but they forgot to bring the milk sitting stole so one of them headed back to the farm…the other one waited for 40 min and he didn’t return…so he went back home and saw Harold standing on the roof and laying bloody skin onto the roof to let it dry out…yes ur welcome for that imagery.. .the dream…oh joy this one…ok first off the story is a woman named Lucy is going to move into a new house…the night before that she had a dream of going to the house thats on a hill and the landlady leads her upstairs to the room and the room well how to describe this…is bizarre….it was a normal room…just kidding no seriously its a normal room but the carpet looked like it was made of giant square pieces that looked like trap doors, and each window was closed shut with big nails…in her dream Lucy  goes to sleep and she gets a knock on the door and this pale woman comes in….get ready….this woman width of the body is thick….she is a bit tall and has pale skin and has black fingers and has long black hair….and has small black eyes and a creepy cartoony grin on her face…the grin or smile goes all the way up to her ears…and she whisperers into Lucy’s ears saying this is a evil place leave now while u still can…Lucy wakes up in fright and decided to call up the manager to tell her she ain’t moving there…so the manager finds her a new place….and when she gets there…the landlady is the same woman in her dream…and the room was exactly the same as in her dream…so Lucy sits on the bed to get a breathe and sends the woman to get tea for her….she looks around and is in a bit shock…and she hears a knock at the door and she thougt it was the landlady….nope its the pale lady….so Lucy grabs her bag and runs out the door….hm hope u guys have sweep dreams Tonight…and its him is about a woman and male married and they are aggressive to each other…one day the woman takes an axe and decapitated him…and she buries his body, and then that night she hears him screaming who’s gonna sleep with me…and the story ends with the woman dying  (I think)….ok overall I give this book a 8/10
